Having an evening out, beer here of course as they brew some great ales of their own. Intention of having a light dinner, well it was fantastic! Beautifully cooked, well presented and served professionally! Great experience and did I mention the beer? We will be back.

Wow! What an amazing place to eat. Food was amazing and nice locally brewed beer to suit. My trip from Cornwall was definitely worth it to eat here.

Boom... authentic smash burgers, always go well done to hit the notes of the deep south... 100% recommended

It's about time I review these guys... I've been getting food from here every Friday for the last couple of months and it's always incredible! I recommend the Korean burger or the buffalo blue cheese burger! The staff are always really friendly! Can't wait to eat in one day and try some of your large selection of drinks 🍻

Had a fabulous experience here. An extensive choice of beers and ciders. A great choice of food as well. We had a burger with some truly excellent onion rings, and a few of the small plate options including the best chicken wings I have ever had. Service really good, were well taken care of. You do need to book as we went before and couldn't get in. We'll worth being organised to get booked in. Can't wait to go back.

If I had this place locally I'd be there every week . Reasonable prices, fantastic staff and excellent food. The beer gets its own special mention. Highly recommended

Visiting on a Friday night and the place is buzzing upstairs. Downstairs we've been treated to so much food, portions are very generous and the price is very reasonable. The service is wonderful, very friendly and efficient staff happy to help. Will definitely be returning!

Looking for a dog friendly eatery on google we came across the brew shed, what a find, friendly staff, great selection of drinks and food and a nice atmosphere that could have been improved if we’re hadn’t been sent to the basement because we had a dog! (The only reason for four stars) All levels are similar, wood floors and tables and standard chairs. I understand that some dogs are better behaved than others, but so are children! In fact I would say most dogs are better behaved, so on that note a dog friendly establishment should be just that, and we quite fancied sitting in the back area of the bar, and like a drunk we could have been evicted For bad behaviour? The lower level near the toilets was a bit grubby, hopefully when we return in the spring/summer the outside area will be warm and dry. All in all a nice pub with decent priced grub. Thank you.

Saturday 23rd December 2023 This pub brews its own beers in the brewery behind the pub. The brewery is called harrisons Today this pub had a tremendous range of its own and guest ales on offer see picture its a 10 out of 10 of a pub it brews harrison beers and the sta ff amd locals so friendly and denuine a wooden floored horseshoe roomed interior it played Christmas music todat i noticed at rmthe rear it has a good enclosed beer garden This pub is a must to visit for real ale drinkers when in Retford

This is a great place if you are after an alternative to the usual pub , Chinese , or Indian fayre. The portions are huge, so be careful how much you order! The ribs are very good and the burgers are amazing. They have some great beers on too. Only downside is the kitchen seems to struggle when there are a few tables in eating. All in all though well worth a visit.

First time visit for Sunday Lunch - I had to roll home I was that stuffed. Lovely cooked food - I had the veggie nut roast (the portion size was MASSIVE!) and dad had the beef. Really well cookedt and tasty with fantastic bar/waitress service. We don't feel we did the meal justice as the portions were a little large for us. We know for next time to ask - please downsize for us so we don't waste your delicious food. Highly recommended and we'll be back. Thanks to all.

My wife and I have just enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Brew Shed Retford for the first time, high impressed and only sorry that we’ve not found it before. Being a veggie terrible I had a nut roast which was super, my wife had roast pork which she too enjoyed. Large servings of everything including a separate bowl full of fresh vegetables and most important served on hot plates. Considering the amount and quality, the food is very reasonably priced. Tables are thoroughly cleaned after every visit and the dining room is lovely with plenty of space between tables. There is a ASDA car park just around the corner, free parking for up to two hours.

We have just enjoyed an amazing family birthday lunch. Our family of 12 ranging in age from 9 to 85 each confirmed that it was incredible on several counts : the menu covered all tastes and requests ( coeliac and vegan included ) : the welcome and service were cheerful, friendly and as quick as could be expected, covering 11 different orders (one was for an impressive sharing platter).There were no complaints from anyone, which I consider to be excellent. No pretentions, just a comfortable, warm atmosphere which serves beautiful meals and at fare prices. The drinks order should be praised too, very varied items , but served efficiently and correctly. Well done Brew Shed.

Fine pint of Harrison’s Best Bitter. Served by the gentleman with a solid Ron Swanson confidence but with more warmth and welcome. Fine food, great table service and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended

Fabulous venue for Saturday lunch and a few beers Excellent service

Excellent bar with friendly staff and locals... I travelled up from Portsmouth to stay in Retford and my mate travelled down from Sunderland. One evening I was on my own and felt very comfortable in there with Liv behind the bar and locals being chatty.. It was also good with my mate the next afternoon with the same barmaid as the day before welcoming us (all the other staff were very friendly as well but we mainly dealt with her);There were 3 cask ales from Harrisons Brewery (brewed onsite) and several other ales, ciders, lager, spirits and shots.. We didn't eat there but it looked delicious. If I find myself in Retford again I know where I'm heading straight for

I travelled up from Portsmouth to meet a mate who travelled down from Sunderland...I spent both nights here as it was our favourite bar in Retford. All the bar staff and owners were really helpful and friendly with both them and the locals making us feel welcome. Special mention goes to Liv who was behind the bar for most of our stay, very friendly (despite me being a southern softy 😂)... I didn't eat here but it looked fantastic. I spent more time in this bar than in my bed... 3 Harrison's brewery ales on the pumps plus several other ales on taps and even do a couple of normal lagers for peoples mates who don't like ale. I believe more taprooms should have that option... 5 stars from me, marvellous

Staying in the are for a wedding used Tripadvisor to find somewhere to eat. Came across The Beer Shed in Retford so booked me and my wife in for a Friday evening. The fact that it described itself as a brewery tap was the thing that swung the decision. The food (a shared seafood platter) was excellent and great value I thought, couldn’t get through it all. The Harrison brewed on site beers were very enjoyable. However the outstanding element of the evening was the friendly, welcoming and professional staff from the booking in, being shown to table and the bar and table service. It’s this service level that makes this a lovely place to visit. The owners should be proud.

The best food we have had within miles of Retford for years . We had the lobster and steak platter . The lobster was cooked perfectly as was the huge rump steak . The chips, salad, mushrooms snd vine tomatoes were lovely. The flavours were sublime. Faultless meal

We went here with friends on Thursday evening at 6pm. It was busy and had a nice vibe about it. The staff were lovely and the food was absolutely delicious. There is an outdoor area but it was too chilly to sit out. Will definitely visit again. I need to eat gluten free as I am a coeliac and this was no problem at all for them. The chips were some of the best I have ever tasted. Thank you.

Always a pleasure. We have now been 3/4 times for drinks and food and every time it delivers. Great selection of craft beer and cider which always helps & great homemade food to go with it. A real gem in Retford

We visited on a Saturday night and there was a great atmosphere in the pub. We both ordered burgers and they were fantastic. Huge portions of chips/fries and the onion rings were amazing. Great quality, taste and value. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will definately visit again

Fab food, great atmosphere. Would not go anywhere else 😊. If you like real ale/micro brewery at rear of pub then you will love this place. Make sure you explore the pub and find the fantastic beer garden along side the beautiful Chesterfield canal . But seriously the food is top notch

My auntie and I came for food and drink and it was absolutely wonderful! The initial service was excellent and the food came quickly. We had the Korean burger and the nachos, they were faultless. The staff are superb! Will be coming again for sure <3

Appalling service, on being seated for dinner was told there was a 20 minute delay in service, which was fine but starter took 40 minutes to arrive, then main course still hadnt arrived after further 45 minutes, no apology for delay, another group complained all their chips were completely burnt and inedible, for which they asked for deduction from bill, then another group complained also of waiting time, finally got so feed up waiting for main course paid up for what we already had, complained and walked out, considering was birthday occasion and it was now nearly 9 oclock on a 6.45pm sitting too late to go elsewhere especially being a coeliac. Really unacceptable.

Great place only spoilt by one ignorant staff member, the burgers at £14.99 looked expensive but we're recommended by a local couple we had a brief chat with so we went for those, glad we did, delicious with a side of proper home made chips, recommend a visit just for the burgers, there was a good selection of ales, unfortunately didn't have time to taste them all. Unassuming, unpretentious little gem of a pub. Wide selection of well maintained beers, and not just ones from the affiliated brewery. Veggie burger was decent and the chips are great, and plentiful. Lovely staff. Nothing not to like.

Excellent ale served in a bar/restaurant adjacent to the restored Chesterfield Canal. Outdoor patio allows you to enjoy a beer overlooking said canal. Serves as a tap for their own Harrison's Brewery (the Porter was exceptionally good). Highly recommended.

Went at 4 30pm on a Monday as a group of 4 people. Viewed a sign on the bar saying no food Monday and Tuesday. Turned around and eat elsewhere. Wish the owner had updated his Google details to reflect this. Amended due to my sons visit recently. Will visit in the future.
