Great food and great value everyone super friendly.

I ordered 4 take away Sunday Lunches and was very impressed with the service when I collected. When I arrived home and opened up the very well packed containers I found a large portion with a good variety of veg, stuffing, well cooked meat. A home made youkshire pudding and ample gravy packed seperately finished off the meal. I cannot praise the quality and quantity enough and will certainally be going back.

Just come back from a two day stay in Retford, found Albertos fir breakfast as our hotel had lost their chef🙄 We decended on the pub on Saturday morning.. all 12 of us! The manager was so helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was amazing! We would highly recommend it. Fresh produce, piping hot, and as much tea, coffee, juice a d toast as you like. Just want to say Thankyou for the great hospitality we received on both days! We will be back. Keep up the good work! It's great to see someone really enjoying what they do and the manager certainly does and it shows. Thanks again!

This place is fantastic for breakfast. The food is well cooked, piping hot and with unlimited tea / coffee and toast. Kids get free cereal too if they don't fancy ordering off the menu. The staff are super friendly and we always leave with full tummies and a smile on our face. Highly recommended!!

Top food, good VFM. Had the Full English (2 of everything) -£7.50 includes hot drinks & fruit juice,& loads of toast or bread & butter. The plates are as big as baking trays !- huge amount of food. Staff brilliant. Friendly ,helpful. I saw them fetching hot drinks from the self serve area for disabled & senior citizens. Nice touch. Can't do enough .. Even for complete strangers like me ! Recommended. There are vegetarian/ vegan options. + Small brekkie , £6.00 or the Belly buster (3 of everything) at £9.50. The Sunday lunch is advertised at a very reasonable price as well. Haven't tried that yet, but intend to. UPDATE 26/06/2022 .. I said I'd be back ! .. just had the standard beef carvery.There is also a pork loin,Turkey or lamb option. Nothing extraordinary ,but a cracking Roast dinner. . ( NB - I've posted a pic of mine but I don't have Cauli , Brussels , or mash potatoes) £7.50. The staff are really friendly, not pretentious like some places, & simply cannot do enough for you . Thoroughly recommended .. DID I MENTION - the dinners are available in massive foil trays as takeaway as well ! No, I don't work here ! No, they don't pay me. No,I don't know them.

Great for a good old english fry-up - The English Breakfast is big, so make sure you have enough room to fit it all. Service was good as well. Thank you Alberto's, it was lovely.

A large group of us booked in for breakfast the other morning, including our toddler son. The staff were really friendly and responsive making sure we were well looked after. The breakfast itself was really good. It was obvious it was cooked fresh to order and piping hot. The portion size is really generous with self service for the plentiful supply of toast. Despite being 10 of us our orders turned up pretty much en-masse, so no one one was left too long with out there breakfast fare. All in all fantastic service and very good breakfast. I would highly recommend giving it a go.

Its a shell of a former restaurant/pub.... Looks good from the outside, looks not too bad on inside, but is it a sports bar?? Is it a pub? Needs to make its mind up, also rumour is there starting food up again, will re visit and who knows. ;-)

Although the pub is still in Albert Road and open for business the Bistro has moved to the White Hart in the Market Square

Our family visited this fantastic restraunt last night and could not fault a thing,we give it 100% for everything ,the food was top class and very well presented the waitress very helpful and friendly the decor and cleanliness impeccable,sorry we did not find the gem before.Thanks to TripAdviser

Visited with friends for a birthday celebration. We weren't sure what to do but the helpful waitress said people usually order 2 dishes each to share. As there was 4 of us this gave us a good selection and each dish allowed us all a small portion :-) Building on the theme we ordered a different desert each and shared these also! A first for the waitress. With a couple of bottles of wine, we had a lovely evening for about £18 each. We are planning a return trip in a few weeks.

My wife and I had dinner in Alberto's for the first time last week and were blown away, we didnt realise that there was such good and affordable food on offer just around the corner from us! The staff were very friendly, greeted us, showed us to our table and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. There seemed a genuine urge to make sure we were completely satisfied with our experience from all the team that we spoke too that evening. The food was sublime, we would highly recommend the pulled pork and nachos as a starter, and the portion sizes were very generous. Presentation was lovely, both the food and the restaurant itself, and this set us up perfectly for a lovely romantic evening out. Price-wise, we felt Alberto's offer very good value, we certainly didn't expect to get both the quality and the portion sizes we received for the prices in the menu. We stayed for a few drinks in the bar afterwards, and things were much the same on this side of the building too; the choice of drinks available was good; the beers and wines we tried were lovely, a fitting way to end a lovely evening! We would highly recommend Alberto's, and urge anyone local to try this restaurant before heading further afield in search of a good meal. And we can't wait to come back and try the Tapas menu thats on offer! A big thankyou to all the people at Alberto's for all their kind and friendly service for helping us enjoy such a lovely evening!!!

We visited Alberto’s for a midweek treat and were glad that it was the Tapas menu as we had never sampled that before. As most other reviewers have commented, the food is wonderful, portion sizes generous and the service is good. It is attached to the main bar so I guess on occasions it could get noisy but nothing too onerous here. Our main gripe was the wine pricing. When we had visited in the past there had been a house wine at about the £10 mark but on this occasion we were brought admittedly a very nice house wine but at a cost of about £17.50 thus pushing a potential good value meal for 2 close to £50. Given the midweek choice in Retford – No 5 on Grove Street offering a 2 course midweek menu plus a bottle of house wine would be £49 and the Markham Moor Inn doing their Dine with wine deal at £44 for the same, it would be difficult to justify returning to Alberto’s on a cost basis. Maybe it will become a venue for a couple of Tapas dishes and a glass of wine instead. Shame as the food is lovely.

Recently took a foreign friend that was visiting - we all enjoyed thoroughly! First night Id been with the normal menu rather than tapas and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered lasagne - which was fantastic!! The entire meal was very high standards and just as important - very good value for money! Would not go anywhere else in Retford to eat!

We visited Alberto's for the first time with friends celebrating a milestone birthday, the staff were very pleasant, friendly and smiling, rare these days, the food was well presented, and the plain Lasagne, was tasty, and excellently cooked. Not only was the food, surroundings and friendly staff a plus, the ladies washroom had attention to detail and brilliantly clean.

Went there recently with 2 friends for a belated birthday meal. It was tapas night and I was a little apprehensive as I have never been for a tapas style meal before. I needn't have worried. The food was absolutely lovely. We all ordered four dishes and we couldn't believe the size of the portions. Needless to say we were totally stuffed. One of my friends asked the waitress if she could take her huge slice of pizza home with her. Within seconds she came back with it in a container so she could take it. We were even more pleasantly surprised when the bill came. Prices were brilliant. I have now told my husband and we will be coming for a meal ourselves. Fantastic restaurant and very highly recommended.

My husband and I visited Albertos as a spur of the moment thing but we were so glad we did. Although we didn't realise it was Tapas night, the lady squeezed us in and we were really pleasantly surprised by the choice. We had the most amazing food we've tasted, in any local restaurant, for a while. The young girl that served us was really polite and very helpful. Talk about service with a smile! We highly recommend Albertos to anyone wanting beautiful food. We will definitely be going back!

We four ladies went for a meal it turned out to be tapas night so what Lovley food we had all ordered very quickly once we could make up our minds what to have ,very nice it was too Very pleasant waitresses will be going back to try other night too .

We enjoyed, as usual, the tapas. Unfortunately the waitress seemed to be preoccupied, there were only 3 of us in when order for drinks and food taken. And only three other people came in. The refurb seems to have taken the atmosphere. Also a friendly smile and chat from waitress as before would be a welcome addition.

During our brief late afternoon visit to Retford we drove past this retaurant and although tucked away were struck by the clean and creative outside apperance and promised we would have a closer look on the way home. When leaving Retford around 5pm we decided to stop for and internal inspection and a drink. It was really striking so we decided to book for the first table at 6pm. Wow the food was so great and imaginitive. The presentation was faultless and great value for money and we were even able to buy a bottle of Bugarian house wine for under £12. They run a mixed theme of Italian and Mexican cuisine. The service was really attentive and provided with a smile. We couldnt resist asking to talk to the host in the kitchen to let her know how great we thought the whole experience was. Wish we had something like this in Chesterfield!! John and Wiki

Made our first visit just the two of us to see for ourselves if it was as good as its reviews. It was. Great food, fantastic service (thank you again Abbie) and nice surroundings. Chocolate fondue to die for!!Went back again a few nights later with our son and daughter-in-law who came up to see us for the weekend. Food was still great, service was ok, but the big problem was it was just so stiflingly hot in there it spoilt our enjoyment quite a lot.I do realise the hot weather was not something they could control, but there is totally inadequate ventilation in there. I did ask if they had a fan available because there would have been ample room for one but sadly not.Eventually the waitress opened the window slightly but was unable to open the door as it was blocked by scaffolding. We would have stopped for coffees but couldn't stand it any longer. It's such a shame because it would definitely have been a 5.

We regularly come to Albertos for tapas and I wouldn't bother eating out at any other place in Retford. The food is incredible, the value unbelievable, environment cosy, service/staff friendly and presentation of food is top notch!!Really enjoy coming here and only on our doorstep!!!

Before the birth of our first child Alberto's was and in fact still is our favourite restaurant, it is just too far us to travel at the moment.The food is fantastic, the freshest and tastiest that you will find for miles around, we all ways visit on the tapas nights and of the dozen times we have been to Alberto's we are yet to have a bad experience.This is the sort of place that you tell everyone you know that they MUST visit, the restaurant is small and cosy but this just adds to the experience of Retford's little gem.We have only ever been served by two different waitresses and both are knowledgeable about the menu, engaging with customers and provide excellent service.

We went here over the Christmas period and had the tapas menu.The food was well presented and even though it seemed like there wasn't a great quantity of food it filled us both up and we were more than satisfied.The waiting staff and bar staff were very quick and professional and it made for a nice evening out.We will defiantly be returning back here very soon and it's also local to me so I will enjoy being able to have a drink and a short walk home.

Travelling North we were stuck outside Retford for one night only but a quick search found us at Alberto's in Albert Street for meal. Welcomed by a genial host this old un pretentious small pub serves not only the local street community but serves up imaginative meals freshly cooked. There are only 4-5 tables and the space is shared with the drinking set, but we were delighted to find out it was a Mexican night. We enjoyed the successful find of a decent meal at very reasonable prices., and wish the owners every success.

Wasn't sure what to expect as it was my wife who booked it. When we arrived it felt a little bit like a local pub with a few dining tables in a room to one side, which is exactly what Alberto's is. We got a friendly greeting and were quickly seated, really good start. The menu is split between Italian classics and Mexican. A good choice with spice levels clearly shown. My wife ordered Mare e Monti, which was delicious. I know because I tried some. I ordered firecracker prawns which were also great. Onto mains, lasagne for my wife and sizzling beef special for me. Both again were excellent, and home made chips were awesome. Lemon cheesecake x 2 and we were done. Honestly, I was blown away how good the food was. It's a simple, unpretentious menu but it delivers in terms of quality and flavour. If a rowdy pub environment is not your cup of tea then Alberto's may not be your first choice, but if good quality, honest, tasty food is, then look no further. Forgot to mention good value too. This restaurant offers a delightful range of home cooked Italian and Mexican food . It has Tapas nights which are a real treat as you get to try more food off the menu in smaller portions. It's an enjoyable environment for both eating and drinking and the staff are friendly and attentive. Booking essential to avoid disappointment. If you haven't been I highly recommend it.

Four of us payed a visit to this highly recommended eaterie, and we were not disapointed. We had every dish on the menu, plus a dessert each plus drinks and still had change from £100. The dining room is bright, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The service was very good and the food very fresh and tastey. Went here as a group of 6 the food was fantastic (tapas) we had every one on the menu plus a few more was enough for all of us the service and hospitality was second to none. I was the only one who had a dessert and it was scrummy. Would definitely return when in the area. Try it I am sure you will not be disappointed.

My first visit was a surprise never been in before it was lovely and cosy and a friendly reception, the tapas is why we came it was so delicious we ordered a second lot :) it's nice to know there's good food in Retford. Last night visited once again was looking forward to it all day lovely once again me and my friends will make this a monthly visit now, we decided on desserts last night and experience the best cheesecake I've ever eaten :). And I've had plenty ;) can't wait to come back thanks for such a lovely experience. See u soon :)

I have been meaning to try Alberto's for a while after reading it's excellent reviews. So with the kids packed off to their grandparents we booked in, and boy we were not disappointed. A lovely atmosphere and the best food we've had in Retford.Everything cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. The waitresses were lovely and allowed us to enjoy or food but ensuring our drinks were refilled and we were happy with or meal.We finished with the fondue for two and really enjoyed this eating experience,a great way to finish a meal. Will definitely be bursting again.

We had a great evening in Alberto's for my friends birthday. We were a party of six and made to feel very welcome. I have only had the Tapas Menu before so was really looking forward to the main meals. I had Mare E Monti for starter and it came out piping hot and so full of flavour i didnt want it to end! For main course I had Albertos's Special Shellfish Platter and the presentation was fantastic and was also very delicious. It all went down very easily with a nice bottle of red and a couple of glasses of Thatchers cider.We all thoroughly enjoyed the night and look forward to returning in a couple of weeks for my second hen do with the girls :)

What a great night at 'Alberto's" I was part of a large party from work and we had pre-ordered our meals in order to help the chef, we were thrilled when the food started coming out of the kitchen! Wow!.... the food was amazing, all very well presented, cooked to perfection and hot, which can be a problem when you are in a large party, we had an excellent evening, the staff were brilliant and the atmosphere lively. We all had a great night, and hope to visit again soon.

I wanted somewhere small and friendly that promised good food. This place came highly recommended and it truly lived up to its reputation. The food was piping hot and beautifully cooked. The staff were very welcoming and we soon felt at home! We would definitely go back!

With th exception of very little room around the tables, this restaurant is fabulous. The food and service was fantastic. At the start the waitress knew the menu and helped me out, and at the end I made a mistake with the bill which she spotted and gave me the money back. The auto cue asks "what did you like"? The food? The service? The atmosphere? The presentation? The answer would simply all of the above. Portions are ample and of an exceptional standard. Dishes are served piping hot, accompanied by fresh crisp salad. The atmosphere is friendly with confident staff, both behind the bar and providing table service. I would happily return with a party of any size confident that they would cope. Will definitely be returning.

We wanted to try something different for my sons 19th birthday celebrations and he suggested Italian so I looked up local restaurants and found albertos on trip advisor so phoned and booked a table we got a warm friendly reception from the waitress who was very helpful and we all enjoyed our meals very much only one comment from my husband he would have like to have seen pizza on the menu as well but apart from this we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will hopefully return again in the future . Well done albertos x

Went for a meal last Thursday, first time for tapas. What can I say but Fantastic. As not had tapas before asked for some advice off the waitress. She was absolutely spot on.The food was fabulous, the staff worked extremely hard,were very polite. Made to feel very welcome. An excellent pint of hand pull beer finished the meal off. Will be back.

This was the first time I had been to a Tapas night and what a wonderful treat it was. Albertos is just lovely , shown to our table as soon as we arrived by the lovely Robyn and drinks swiftly arrived , the wine was very reasonably priced and of good quality. We left it to Robyn to pick the Tapas for us and what a wonderful job she did too as well as taking the time and trouble to explain each dish.The quality of the dishes was better than the majority I have tried in Spain , beautifully presented and exceptionally tasty.Look forward to next visit

6 of us dined at Albertos for my birthday. this was my 2nd visit and the food was first class. the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Albertos is terrific value for money. There is a great atmosphere about the place. We will certainly be going back
