Wow! What a find! We called here today for lunch and cannot praise the whole experience highly enough. We were greeted warmly by Sarah and were served our drinks by a lovely young chap behind the bar. We were given menus and we were immediately thrilled to see really keen prices (unusual these days) on a varied menu. There was an option of 2 lighter meals for £14, great for the smaller appetite. We chose the hand battered Haddock with chips and peas and Steak and Ale pudding with chips and peas. Both meals were piping hot and delicious. We sat outside in the sunshine until our food was ready and Sarah came out and called us in when the food was on the table. We could not manage a pudding, but we will definitely leave room next time! As we were leaving we chatted to the landlady and thanked her for a fabulous dining experience. We shall return very soon. Our new favourite, thank you!

Called in Friday night 4 of us with 2 dogs landlord explained we had to eat in bar area with dogs but to be honest this pub is so nice all the way through and customers in bar were so nice as well. We ordered 2 mixed grills 1 gammon steak and 1 rump steak all the food was excellent but the mixed grill were probably the best I have ever had we will be back, and the sweets were excellent as well.

Great family pub fantastic food

We had a fantastic lunch here today with my parents. The food was excellent and very good value. Portions sizes were very generous even though advertised as lighter bites. Highly recommend the fish cakes. Service was exemplary and the pub (including toilets) was spotless. We will definitely return.

Updated Mar,'24. - steak night (Mondays) 2x8oz rumps & a bottle of wine (£5.95) f or £22.95 in total. Well cooked food good portion,not ridiculous portions of chips. Pleasant landlord. Staff pleasant enough & friendly . . Up to the point of informing her that the Sirloin med. Rare steak was well done. The rump was med. rare. Did ask if we wanted it redoing , but we were too hungry at that stage for that. ( A simple apology would have raised the food & staff scores by a star ). Alongside the steak was a decent 'on plate side salad' Steak included 3 decent not greasy or fatty opinion rings. Overall - recommended. A nice comprehensive menu. 8 oz Sirloin & 12oz Rumpsteak @ £13.95 each Special Was a home made Game pie ..£9.95 ! Options of chips or mash ,garden or mushy peas.. Beer was nice. Food was quality produce & vfm. Steak night - Monday - 2 8 oz steaks for £22 Inc a bottle of plonk.

Great little place, good food nice selection of drinks

We ordered medium rare steaks. My partner's was cooked to perfection, mine was dry. Although the waitress offered to change it she wasn't very sympathetic, no apology etc. The rest of the food was lovely, nice salad, chips, onion rings etc which all come as standard. The food is very reasonably priced (steaks are £13.99) The pub is a quintessential village pub. The landlord is lovely, shame the waitress is a little abrupt & tactless ☹️

I've recently moved to the area. We happened across the pub which was warm and welcoming. The hosts fitted us in for dinner and gave us a menu which had something for everyone including gluten free and vegan. Both of us went for steak and kidney pudding. It arrived quickly and was amazing. Hot, tasty and good portion size. It it has to be said great value as were all the items on the menu. A two course Sunday lunch for less than £15 amazing. We really enjoyed the meal and I will definitely be back.

Have eaten lunch here a number of times, wonderful landlady remembers you and your drink. Had an evening meal on Friday to celebrate my 70th. Starters brilliant, mains even better no room for the wonderful dessert menu . Would highly recommend to all ages .

A lovely village pub, serving delicious home cooked food. The ribs and fish and chips are delicious! There’s a wide selection of beer and real ales which are very well kept. The owners are lovely and the service is excellent too, especially if Sarah is working! Highly recommend.

The Queen's is our family's favourite meeting place. The food is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. Proper hearty, warming, home cooked meals beautifully presented,cracking value for money too and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Thank you for making our birthday celebrations so special

Stopped here for lunch on a long journey. The pub is lovely and cosy, food and service excellent. Good British pub grub, extensive menu. Including steak and kidney pudding, liver and onions, steak and ale pie etc.

We were passing by at lunchtime and decided to try it. We had mini fish and chips - only £12 for two portions. The batter was among the crispest I've ever had and the chips were to die for. The portion size was perfect for lunchtime and we couldn't finish all the chips. They have a good selection of drinks, including 6 cask ales. We sat outside in the sunshine. The landlord was very friendly and attentive. A blissful and relaxing lunchtime.

Just off the A1 this delightful Pub deserves Excellent. The service was second to none food fantastic, it's been a long time since I had a gammon so beautifully cooked and presented. The menu was sensible making it obvious everything was being cooked from scratch, there was an impressive range of beers and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. I only wish we had a pub like this near our home

So glad we could finally return for our Sunday lunch. We have missed our favourite pub so much in lockdown. Being a vegan/vegi/meat eating family - this is a perfect place for all of us. Booked for a return already 😁

We live some 15 miles from East Markham, and have visited The Queens Hotel some 5 times in 2020. Our latest was today, for lunch, when despite the restrictions we are all having to cope with at present, we were welcomed and served at the table allocated to us. On each visit, the staff have been helpful and friendly, the food good and wholesome, and the atmosphere relaxed - a truly good example of a very good village pub. I would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment to anyone who can appreciate good food, willing staff and a good pub environment.

We've eaten here a few times in the past couple of months and never been disappointed. On Sunday there's a typical roast dinner with a choice of meats.Monday night is steak night which we've enjoyed a couple of times and is the best value you'll find. The regular menu has lots of pub favourites such as fish and chips, liver and onions, steak and ale pudding, and braised beef - all for under a tenner! There's always a good selection of well-kept Everard's beers as well as a guest ale or two. The draught Bass was very nice last night. The staff are friendly, helpful and the food service is very good. If only I lived nearer and this was my local...

Popped in here for a change one evening. I could see the food coming out the kitchen and instantly wondered if we’d wandered into some cheap back street cafe by mistake. Our food was at best basic (not a basic price tag though) frozen chips which were awful, and lasagne that was like slop and had never seen seasoning in its life. I was really disappointed but so hungry I just ate it and put it down to experience. What I couldn’t understand is why the place was so busy for food. So many good eating places round and about. Won’t return.

Called in here in the spur of the moment for an impromptu family get together. Lovely cosy pub with a good atmosphere as soon as you walked through the door. It was early evening and quite quiet but got busier as the evening went on. Nice food and wine. Lots of specials. Really relaxed evening.

Reasonably priced and varied pub menu with great chips ! The landlord prides himself in serving a selection of Everards beers in perfect condition . He is very knowledgeable and experienced . The pub has a good atmosphere and is well worth a visit .

Served London Pride ale and a nice bottle of Malbec. Really good vegetarian choice (6 dishes when we went) and friendly staff. I had vegan Shepherd's pie and it was very tasty. Food reasonably priced. Will definitely return here!

We visited as part of our local U3A lunch club. We visit various pubs and restaurants in the area. This was our first visit to this hotel. As we were a group of 40 they offered us a limited menu which was a very acceptable selection for such a party. The quality of the food for the price paid was excellent. However the chips need special attention: they were phenomenal. I have never, ever, had chips which were so fluffy and light inside and crispy-crunchy outside. Everyone in the party who had them made the same comment. We will definitely return for second helpings!

We went on a Sunday, late afternoon expecting the usual Sunday lunch fare, there was a choice of 3 meats with veg. This is not a carvery (and it is not advertised as such to be clear) what you get is a small plated meal (no veg dishes) served with 3 veg (no choices) in very small portions i.e. a spoonful of each with a small blob of mash a two very small roast potatoes, no Yorkshire puds. One of our guests didn't want the 'frozen' peas not the carrots so only got the same portion of cabbage as the rest of us, no extra potatoes etc. In all a very small very average Sunday lunch with no manoeuvre for extras. In simple terms, small potions and quite bland......

Visited this pub recently with friends and found it to be very friendly and the food was good too. The dining area is not that big so it may be worth booking a table, especially for Sunday lunch. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Good value for money for the food dishes, and there is a plethora of local brews but taste-wise, it's very typical traditional Brit fare, which means overdone vegs etc

First things first, this is not a hotel!! The name comes from way back. This is a classic local pub serving excellent meals.
