What a terrible welcome after 8 Mike walk …. Two lagers ordered, mine host stated I’ll be closing at 8 as it’s dead and it was. Blamed the owner not his terrible attitude. Maybe clean your tables Clean the gents W/C Clean your beer lines, we paid £10 for two pints we left as cloudy and smelled poor. Such a shame as a great village- go elsewhere Anywhere but here. Poor.

Came in on Mother's day after the change in management absolutely brilliant, staff were very respectful and helpful. Wide variety of meats and vegetables for the Carvery and reasonable prices for drinks and food. Great atmosphere classic village pub very cosy. The only thing to mention is parking can be difficult due how busy the pub is.

After visiting the white swan a few weeks ago and having a beautiful Sunday lunch (which we left a review for, Featherblade of Beef, 5*). We went back hoping for another delicious dinner, inky to find an uninterested abrupt person telling us it was carvery only today. We paid at the bar, got our drinks and we’re sent round the back to get our food. , I was really shocked to see the state and quality of the food, The meat that was meant to be pork was unrecognisable, there wasn’t any left, the beef was tough and dry. Potato mash was slop, catering Yorkshire puddings, dried sticky stuffing, cold slimy veg, sprouts were frozen sprouts but okay and the carrots were cold. Multi coloured peas and all just of a very poor standard. . It’s a Catering cavery, really poor standard. It might have been fresher earlier but it was really bad, I took mine back and said I couldn’t eat it .. the girl took my plate back snd just said oh sorry about that. But we’d paid and there was no alternative or explanation or refund of any sort. Be warned if you’re expecting food based on previous reviews. You won’t get it!., We left and drive to eyes arms at Rampton. The food was hot freshly cooked and delicious . Dinner out is meant to be a treat.. be warned if your hungry and planning on wasting hard earned cash at this place .. .. not that money

Sunday lunch is now a carvery that you pay for before you see what’s on offer. If we had seen the food before we paid we’d have left. A month ago we had a beautiful roast meal, now it’s catering carvery and it’s hard to find a positive, I left mine, uneaten, meat was dry and tough, mash was sloppy. Yorkshire puddings were catering puds. Veg was frozen sprouts, old peas, slimy parsnips. What a massive disappointment. No refund, no acknowledgment of the food paid for and the burnt offerings. Definitely won’t be back. Not the food that was on offer a month ago. Must be different owners. No customer skills, not much awareness of unhappy customers. Maybe the food was fresher earlier in the day but definitely not a nice experience of Sunday dinner. Went elsewhere spent less and had a very nice fresh, locally sourced dinner with a warm welcome. Really disappointed, no refund whatsoever. Pity you can’t see the good before payment, it’s round the back in a different room.

Visited yesterday, see my review on Facebook. its the worst food I've ever had. ( iam 68 years old) The real ale I don't think the pipes had been cleaned in weeks. I've been to the toilet 3 times today this is 13.30. Bad stomach pains all night. Only 3 things on the Menu, 2 people working there, they have been there 3 weeks.

I can honestly say this was the worst meal I have ever had (iam 68 years old) My wife & I had what was supposed to be Shepherds pie. The pie had something on top of it, I had to smash it with my knife to get through it, the veg & meat was almost cold. The chips were burnt & again almost cold, the peas were OK. The gravy was shocking, looked & tasted like something out of the sump oil tank.We had to ask for cutlery, salt & pepper etc. Our son had burger, chips & peas. The same with the chips, burger was greasy with no taste. The so called real ale, I don't think the pipes had been cleaned in weeks. The people running the pub had only been there 3 weeks, there was only a choice of 3 things on the Menu. There 2 people serving including the so called chef. We only went there because the Angel pub up the road had stopped serving food at 2.0 clock we got there at 2.10. The food staff finished at 3.0.

Just taken over by new management. This lovely pub has lost its tranquility to a horde of unruly children the offspring of the rude and arrogant owner. We moved position in the pub to give them space but they still made a complete racket. We had had enough and took our half finished drinks to the bar and I expressed that we had had enough of the noise and disruption. The owner told us that we shouldn’t criticise his children and that we were all kids once. Maybe so but we weren’t all unruly kids. The comment was more directed at his parenting skills. He told us not to come back. That goes without saying. We won’t!!!

Gone downhill, be lucky see the new year in, such a shame There are sad times in life, England losing in the Euros final, losing a winning lottery ticket and falling in a canal fully clothed, this visit to the white swan, Blyth joins the mentioned list….. Attended here for Father’s Day, expecting a carvery only to be told it’s new ownership and carvery’s have stopped, anyway Sunday lunch on the menu…. However, ran out of Beef 😂 And then, the following comment ‘ oh yeah, we have some curry’ Lamb balti and ‘ oh yeah, I’ve just remembered, we’ve some Beef Madras’ how the hell do you just remember what you’ve got available 😂 Next question ‘ what’s the veggie option’ a very tired and pi$$ed of expression and a reply of ‘ meat free dinner’ Once served, waiter passed the plates over, we asked if they were hot or not ‘ the reply was don’t know’ ( she had them in her hand ) I’m not bothered about the price, it’s just comical from start to finish. I will be astounded if this place remains open, it needs some customer service training and a change up in options. Only positive, waitress was polite. Very poor, unfortunately gone down hill since the last time we visited as a family.

The White Swan was always popular with locals and other visitors. We hadn’t been for ages and decided to go for lunch. On arrival the lady behind the bar was not at all welcoming and we weren’t allowed a tab, even though we said we would be eating. My husband ordered the pie, which he said tasted salty. I tried it and agreed. Later, presumably the landlady, cleared our plates and asked if everything had been ok to which my husband mentioned the saltiness. She went away and returned a while later, saying that she and the ‘chef’ had tasted one, saying it wasn’t salty at all and that it must be his tastebuds! We won’t be returning needless to say.

We arrived unannounced for lunch on Easter Monday on our way back from Northumberland to Hertfordshire. We had first stopped at Blyth Services to take our 5 year old daughter to the toilet and made a quick departure due to the volume of people. We decided to look at Blyth village and found the White Swan. We received a friendly welcome and a clear indication that there would be a bit of a wait for food. Not in a rush, we decided to stay. The staff managed to get our daughter’s food very quickly (for which we were extremely grateful) and ours followed soon after. The pub was busy with lots of happy looking customers. The atmosphere was friendly and the pub was very clean and tidy. The staff were excellent. Food was great and we were very happy to find a local alternative to the services. We’ll pass by again next time we are driving through.

My husband and I called in as we've passed many times but never stopped. It looks inviting from the outside and when we stepped inside it was cosy, with a lovely fire on the go. It was around 6pm on a Friday and we were served straight away by a young female barmaid. Our experience may have continued in this pleasant vein but for a group of around 5 men, who looked to be in their 50s-60s, sat opposite the bar. It wasn't just the volume of their banter that spoilt the atmosphere, it was the content, for example, loud references to being on sky porn and nearly getting caught by the wife, how they'd happily pay for certain 'services' in their home and all this interspersed with lots of effing and constant raucous laughter. There seemed to be no consideration for those around them, especially in my mind the young barmaid and as they seemed relaxed, like regulars, I would question the kind of establishment that tolerates this kind of behaviour in a public bar? Think that's our first and last visit

Not sure if they have changed the chief but today's dinner was very disappointing. Something has gone down hill because the place wasn't half as full as it used to be. Front of house staff shocking and service diabolical, no offer of dessert menus and needed to move due to over booking, terrible service and unfortunately I will never visit again, it was my main go to for a good roast but the new owners are just not great in the customer happiness department! Disappointed doesn't cover it. We went for an evening meal with all the family. This place was THE palace to go years ago and everyone used to rave about it. So i assumed it would be as good still. No it wasn't! Chicken as dry as toast, cooked within an inch of its life, over cooked food, dry and stale bread/ burger, dry pie that had been on a hot plate all day or heated up from the day before. Tatseless freezer sausages and bland mash. I could go on. Beautiful building, great location, nice decor all spoilt by dire food. Non of us had anything good to say other than the chips were nice. Even the waitress was half arsed and not as slick, precise and attentive as they should be. Not many in eating and it was like we weren't there or we were an inconvenience. Avoid!
