Pizza Trail has come to the Swan and it's excellent.

No other people in,drinks expensive.

Was last here about 4 years ago. It was fantastic. Was really looking forward to coming here again. What a disappointing experience the revisit was. Pub was empty. The sausage and Mash was terrible. Gloopy, thick gravy, cheap sausages that tasted overcooked. Or reheated. Not sure. The Mash was lumpy and dry. The gravy didn't help. Won't go back.

Just reopened and a great bunch of people it seems. Can't wait to see what's happening with the food menus.

This Place Stopped Doing Food Now. Even though the sign on the village green says food, we were greeted with ‘We’ve stopped doing food altogether now’ Be warned if you are going there for a bite to eat.

Gone downhill, be lucky see the new year in, such a shame There are sad times in life, England losing in the Euros final, losing a winning lottery ticket and falling in a canal fully clothed, this visit to the white swan, Blyth joins the mentioned list….. Attended here for Father’s Day, expecting a carvery only to be told it’s new ownership and carvery’s have stopped, anyway Sunday lunch on the menu…. However, ran out of Beef 😂 And then, the following comment ‘ oh yeah, we have some curry’ Lamb balti and ‘ oh yeah, I’ve just remembered, we’ve some Beef Madras’ how the hell do you just remember what you’ve got available 😂 Next question ‘ what’s the veggie option’ a very tired and pi$$ed of expression and a reply of ‘ meat free dinner’ Once served, waiter passed the plates over, we asked if they were hot or not ‘ the reply was don’t know’ ( she had them in her hand ) I’m not bothered about the price, it’s just comical from start to finish. I will be astounded if this place remains open, it needs some customer service training and a change up in options. Only positive, waitress was polite. Very poor, unfortunately gone down hill since the last time we visited as a family.

A great little pub in the centre of Blyth. Excellent menu with a great choice of pub food to select from, some of which is homemade. Delicious. Beats the services on the A1 and not expensive either. Very friendly staff.

This was our 3rd visit, and won’t be our last. The food was amazing (as always). Today tried the home made broccoli and Stilton soup - wow. Gordon your food is amazing. Location is perfect, pub atmosphere so welcoming. Starting to feel like home from home when we walk in and greeted by Sue. Defiantly worth a visit - you won’t regret it.

Lovely and friendly staff but the menu is limited and tailored more towards winter months. I ordered the fish and chips and am convinced it was refried

Wow what an amazing find. Lovely country pub, meal outstanding. 4 people, 3 different meal choice. Everyone comment how tasty the food was and presented. Excellent value for money. Staff friendly - Sue goes above and beyond checking everything ok with drinks and food, chief came to chat to us which was lovely. Will be back many times I’m sure. Highly recommend.

Lovely pub, friendly and full of character. Shame about the food, it was not my liking or any of my party, cooked to oblivion. Go for a drink there but definately dont eat anything.

Had Sunday lunch today aswell as last Sunday we have followed are favourate chef from the ship at bawtry the this pub they been here 2 weeks this home cooked food is absolute second too none ,delicious

Called in on spur of the moment as never visited before. New owners were friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere and the wood burning fire was very welcome on a cold day. Great food and dog friendly too. Will not be the only visit from us!

Didn't have food on this occasion, visited as the landlord and landlady have moved from The Ship at Bawtry which we dined at many times, we will now be visiting for food now they are settled in

Nipped in for a few beers and play cards with little one. Lovely staff and nice atmosphere. No food on eke we went but other than that, great.

The White Swan was always popular with locals and other visitors. We hadn’t been for ages and decided to go for lunch. On arrival the lady behind the bar was not at all welcoming and we weren’t allowed a tab, even though we said we would be eating. My husband ordered the pie, which he said tasted salty. I tried it and agreed. Later, presumably the landlady, cleared our plates and asked if everything had been ok to which my husband mentioned the saltiness. She went away and returned a while later, saying that she and the ‘chef’ had tasted one, saying it wasn’t salty at all and that it must be his tastebuds! We won’t be returning needless to say.

Me and my wife stopped here four years ago for lunch and it was amazing. Lovely, quiet and quaint and as we hadn't been up this way for a few years we forgot about it. Roll on today driving home for York we decide to stop for lunch instead of driving through. Googled the nearest place and thankfully turned up at the same pub. The atmosphere is still the same. Quiet. Relaxed and lovely. Amazing staff and brilliant food. Couldn't ask for better. Will save in my maps for next time.

Lovely pub and very friendly staff, suffering a migraine so stopped in for some (non-alcoholic) hydration and the lovely lady behind the bar gave me some ginger biscuits for the nausea 🥰.

Can't say anymore amazing things about this place. Me and my partner come here every other Thursday for lunch and are always left satisfied with the gorgeous food. Their selection of drinks are on point and just their all round friendly attitude towards everyone that enters is here. This place is a must in Blyth.

Looks inviting but the staff could do with a gee up. Only here for drinks so can't rate food. Place pretty quiet for a Friday night. Large sunny beer garden at the back. One member of staff serving the bar couldn't even raise a smile - need to do better.

We arrived unannounced for lunch on Easter Monday on our way back from Northumberland to Hertfordshire. We had first stopped at Blyth Services to take our 5 year old daughter to the toilet and made a quick departure due to the volume of people. We decided to look at Blyth village and found the White Swan. We received a friendly welcome and a clear indication that there would be a bit of a wait for food. Not in a rush, we decided to stay. The staff managed to get our daughter’s food very quickly (for which we were extremely grateful) and ours followed soon after. The pub was busy with lots of happy looking customers. The atmosphere was friendly and the pub was very clean and tidy. The staff were excellent. Food was great and we were very happy to find a local alternative to the services. We’ll pass by again next time we are driving through.

My husband and I called in as we've passed many times but never stopped. It looks inviting from the outside and when we stepped inside it was cosy, with a lovely fire on the go. It was around 6pm on a Friday and we were served straight away by a young female barmaid. Our experience may have continued in this pleasant vein but for a group of around 5 men, who looked to be in their 50s-60s, sat opposite the bar. It wasn't just the volume of their banter that spoilt the atmosphere, it was the content, for example, loud references to being on sky porn and nearly getting caught by the wife, how they'd happily pay for certain 'services' in their home and all this interspersed with lots of effing and constant raucous laughter. There seemed to be no consideration for those around them, especially in my mind the young barmaid and as they seemed relaxed, like regulars, I would question the kind of establishment that tolerates this kind of behaviour in a public bar? Think that's our first and last visit

First visit to white swan in blyth not very welcoming when we sat down was told we had one and half hours allocate time on the table. Went to bar asked what was on the menu and was told carvery big or small staff not pleasant so we won’t be recommending this pub and won’t be returning which spoiled Mother’s Day

Called in on Sunday unannounced looking for lunch. Very pleasant staff found us a table for four. Ordered four carveries which proved to be good value and enjoyed by all.

Not sure if they have changed the chief but today's dinner was very disappointing. Something has gone down hill because the place wasn't half as full as it used to be. The cauliflower cheese tasted like packet sauce and watery, roast spuds were cold, and no taste to the gravy. What ever you've done White Swan put it back!! You've ruined a good Sunday carvery.

Excellent food but the staff and atmosphere and rushed environment when spending good money, move from this table as someone else is here when still having a drink and not even offered the dessert menu!! Shocking personal service and zero customer service skills I will never return again

Great food but absolutely shocking at everything else! Front of house staff shocking and service diabolical, no offer of dessert menus and needed to move due to over booking, terrible service and unfortunately I will never visit again, it was my main go to for a good roast but the new owners are just not great in the customer happiness department! So it’s Royal Oak “tickhill” and “bluebell” Carlton that are better due to the owners being better hosts and food just as good 👍

Been coming here on and off for 5 years or more. The carvery is delicious. Meat is cooked lovely, there's plenty of veg, the parsnips are amazing and the yorkshires are lovely and fluffy (not like the frozen rubbish done other places serve). Deffinately worth a visit. Although you'll need to book in advance.

Went to a friends birthday party there. Good selection of drinks, food was great and service was spot on!

3 of us came for Sunday carvey choice of pork turkey and beef brilliant variation of veg all cooked very well lovely pub.will be back.

We (6) had Sunday carvery lunch . Fantastic value for money all 3 turkey, pork & beef were very tender & top quality . The bar staff are pleasant well presented also very helpful and knowledgable on drinks & food being served . Thank you Staff .

Possibly one of the best “pub” fish & chips we have ever eaten. Beautifully cooked food, relaxed and friendly environment and a lovely, historical building. Well done for what you are doing here - we will definitely be back on our next trip up the A1.

Had a lovely meal in avery friendly pub

Disappointed doesn't cover it. We went for an evening meal with all the family. This place was THE palace to go years ago and everyone used to rave about it. So i assumed it would be as good still. No it wasn't! Chicken as dry as toast, cooked within an inch of its life, over cooked food, dry and stale bread/ burger, dry pie that had been on a hot plate all day or heated up from the day before. Tatseless freezer sausages and bland mash. I could go on. Beautiful building, great location, nice decor all spoilt by dire food. Non of us had anything good to say other than the chips were nice. Even the waitress was half arsed and not as slick, precise and attentive as they should be. Not many in eating and it was like we weren't there or we were an inconvenience. Avoid! Much better pubs out there in the area.

Really disappointed with our visit here today. Approximately 15 of us attended for our annual Christmas get together, having been here consecutively for the last few years we were looking forward to it. We'd ordered sandwiches, chips and onion rings. Sandwich choice was poor, just Cheese & Onion or Turkey. Chips were 3 small bowls shared between 15 people, and 1 bowl of onion rings, not enough for even 1 each! The chips came out about 40 minutes after the sandwiches, the 1 bowl of onion rings another 30 minutes after that. Presumably they heard us complaining because another bowl of chips randomly appeared 15 minutes before we left! Staff refused to allow us to open a tab, we offered to put a card behind the bar, again this was refused. 1 older member of staff was particularly unhelpful. A real shame because this is a lovely little village Pub. We won't be coming back next year.

Well, I've been coming here for years, we have our yearly Xmas party here yearly, however this year was the last, after waiting 20 mins to be served, I asked to leave cash behind bar so all my guests could go up and get a drink, was told "NO WE DONT DO THAT" so we had to keep going upto bar getting drinks individually, they then was reluctant to give receipts, we ordered a platter of food containing sandwiches, chips, onion rings etc, we got cheese and onion and turkey sandwiches, 3 small bowls of chips and x1 bowl of onion rings chucked on table, the service was poor, the head barmaid was not only rude but unpleasant, obviously she did not want to be there, the two younger people behind the bar tried their hardest but with a leader like that, there was very little they could have done, will not be returning as several pubs in Blyth which service and attitude are much better.

Lovely quality home made food. Will definitely be recommending to all.

After meeting a friend and former business colleague we were looking forward to eating here. For years we have driven past and thought we must give it a try. It was at best average, the food Chicken Tikka in my case wasn’t good. On arrival we were advised we couldn’t put drinks down on the table tab as people had previously done a runner. They had my name and telephone number so that didn’t get us off to the best of starts. Food was also order at the bar and I had imagined it would be table service at those prices. When we left no thank you good night and we hope to see you again. More a question of re set the table so we can get someone else in. Business is tough right now and an experience needs to Leave people thinking how they enjoyed the experience and would like to go back. Unfortunately I feel completely underwhelmed by the experience

Visited on a Thursday evening and were not disappointed, warm welcome on arrival, great service and excellent food - our party has three different starters and four different mains alas no room for desserts. Good quality food at reasonable prices, a tempting menu with vegetarian options and a specials board.

Fabulous place, very friendly staff, traditional venue with original features. Afternoon tea £12 per head was delicious. Will go back when next in the area.Thanks for helping with the surprise event.

we arrived 1:45pm on thursday after hiking. the place was only had a few customers. we all ordered the mixed grill. I also had the treacle sponge with custard. the meals were OK.

Not been here since before covid, the carvery did not disapoint, hot plates, hot veg & lots of choice, the meats were moist and well cooked. A great value Sunday lunch in Nice surroundings with good beer, very happy.

Absolutely Beautiful Food and service, nothing was too much effort as I asked to change the contents of my meal. The Mixed Grill and Steak Pie are to die for! Don't think, just do it! You won't regret!

Lovely food and lovely country pub atmosphere. The beer garden in the rear is a real sun trap.
