Enquired about my dog and advised dog friendly but no longer does food so makes any reviews a little academic

I had heard good reports and was so pleased we visited. Spotlessly clean, excellent choice of well kept ales, really friendly and welcoming with a varied menu choice too. We will be back! We loved our Polish Goulash

We returned to the Kings Arms with all the family, having been impressed with the food last visit. One member of the family is gluten and milk intolerant which was no problem for Magda and the team to cope with, however the child's portion at £5.99 did seem rather expensive as the 2 year old didn't eat anywhere near all of it, an adults is £8.99 for Sunday lunch. It was a good portion and would have easily fed a 10 year old, maybe they may consider doing a small chid portion for say under 5's, and not many toddlers eat stuffing for example. It was a nice touch to give the little one a gift, and there were biscuits with the tea/coffee, we will certainly return as their food is so good. The service this visit was a little disappointing when 2 other tables seated after us were served before us, and the table was sticky as the 2 year old pointed out!!!

As we live in a neighbouring village,we don't get down here as often as we should! When we do,the welcome is always friendly and the choice of food and drinks is always very good. Worth a visit.

Went here today with visiting friends we all had the Sunday Roast, we were pleasantly surprised. Although it's not a carvery, there is a good choice of meats, which are plated and brought out to the table with potatoes and Yorkshire and stuffing already on, then comes the veg, which there were 4, and the most fantastic gravy (not bisto granules here!). The staff were polite, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly go back.

We had been looking at the menu boards & noticed that everything looked very reasonably priced as well as being interesting with good choice. We arrived on time & were given the choice of where we sat, the main bar or the separate dining room, the bar was chosen as much cosier & to make sure of our seats for the quiz. The meals were served fairly promptly, by Magda & her mother on fashionable square plates, all nicely presented & offers to get whatever sauces & condiments we required. The food was excellent, I had beef rib from the specials while several had the homemade steak pie. All the meals were pronounced excellent while most of those who didn't vowed to have the steak pie next time. A very friendly public house & restaurant which had previously slipped under my radar, Excellent value.

Went for a drink with my step son who had been before, it’s a very dingy place when I asked the lady her name she said I’m fred gingers upstairs in an arrogant manner to which my step son said let’s leave she’s just being rude she then screamed you have to pay for this drink that she just popped.. I wouldn’t go back I’d rather go to the cleaner friendlier pub down the road who has a lovely lady serving with a smile saying that my step son said she’s new and it’s normally nice in there, we didn’t stay around for any more rude comments or judgements..

Been a few times for Sunday Lunch; there's always been a choice of meats and we've always received good size portions, so much so that I was happy with a small dinner. The prices are great for the size and quality of the lunch. There's a good selection of veg served too. Staff are friendly and the setting is traditional. I'm sure we'll be visiting again soon.

A very tasty traditional Sunday Roast, with all the trimmings, for a good price. The Kings Arms does itself proud with its well presented roast dinner; Beef, Lamb Gammon and Pork on offer - also a combination was mentioned at the bar when ordering, so you can mix and match! Additionally a fish option (Salmon) was on the board and a risotto dish, which I think may be the vegetarian option. As usual, I stuck to the beef. This came with a generous serving of succulent, tender beef - it was well done and no option was given for rare - I presume this had been slow cooked, as it was 'melt in the mouth', so no negatives. Alongside came a large stuffing ball, roast potatoes that had a nice crispness, mash, roast parsnip and Yorkshire Pudding. The veg was well cooked (just right - not too much!) and generous, consisting of cauliflower cheese, cabbage, carrots and broccoli. Horseradish sauce was offered, which came in a separate serving dish. Nice. A special mention goes out to the gravy, which was 'proper' - rustic and not the thin watery 'juice' so often seen. This had flavour and body. Brilliant. There was also plenty of it! A friend had Lamb, and also said it was lovely - but she couldn't finish as the portion size beat her: I did threaten her with a child's portion initially, which are available. Never got around to any 'afters' - but did have a nice glass of Shiraz with the meal; nothing special here, but pleasant and sold by the glass. The beer was pretty good, although I never finish a full pint if having a roast - so hence the switch to wine. The Pub is a proper local, and as such has great, pleasant staff who really care about your visit - they obviously care about repeat custom, which is how it should be. As a very busy local, there are the usual signs of wear and tear - don't let this worry you - it is just a sign of a very old pub doing a roaring trade day in, day out. It has character. I reckon if you're in the mood for a proper good roast you will be pleased to make a visit. You need to book! I'll be back, as Arnie said.

Not a bad atmosphere as you walk through the door, although it took a few minutes for them to realise I was there, luckily the TV was on current affairs. Some tables still had dirty plates on them. Ordered a large sandwich and was asked if I wanted extras on, (egg was mentioned but I didn't get any). The sandwich was well worth the money (£4.60) as it was really full. Negatives were: bread was soggy but this was due to everything inside, eg coleslaw, salad cream etc. This also meant the sandwich fell to bits so I had to eat it with fork. They used clingfilm instead of foil/paper to wrap, this added to the mess when it was unwrapped. Big one for me was the lady DID NOT use gloves, I mentioned this and she said that she had just washed her hands, the clothes she was wearing were really dirty which did not fill me with joy. Overall the sandwich filled me up, the staff was kind and helpful but I won't return as I prefer cleanliness above all else.

This pub is a tale of two halves. The decoration & ambiance of the pub is lovely, loos are clean and ample parking. The pub was wonderfully dog friendly & the lady behind the bar & taking food orders was wonderful, friendly and vey helpful, the drinks were great and amazingly cheap.....However..... I'm afraid the whole evening was ruined by the food. I ordered the Fillet steak, medium rare @ £25.00 (not expensive), I asked for side salad instead of onion rings, mushrooms & toms. No sauce. What arrived was a very small sirloin (poss rump) steak, 1/2 " thick with a good 1" of unrendered fat down one side and over cooked. Plus a side of pepper sauce I never ordered. I questioned if the order had been taken down wrong or misread but I was assured that the Chef says The steak is definitely fillet! & the sauce is complimentary!..... I am not a butcher but I do know what a Fillet cut looks like !!! This was NOT. I was on a date with my partner so didn't want to complain, or embarrass him, but I feel bad that I allowed him to pay for something I definitely didn't have! I ate the meal which was edible but not what it was meant to be. The couple on the table behind us had a lengthily argument with the chef about his steak, sent one back & refused to pay for the second!! I don't mind if things aren't available or the kitchen is short staffed. I don't care of orders are taken or read wrongly BUT to be LIED to is unforgiveable. If I was there on my own I would not have accepted my meal. That said, my boyfriend's Faggots were lovely.......In short, A lovely pub for a cheap drink.......just don't have high expectations of the food.
