Went for family meal, food and service were 10/10, will definitely come back

Such a lovely welcome, not a clicky village pub at all. We were house sitting nearby and their Sunday roast was recommended. I can absolutely agree, it was really delicious. So yummy that we went back mid-week for an amazing burger. I would definitely recommend a visit, even a detour for delicious home made food and a good pint.

Came here about 2-3 years ago when staying at the local caravan site there and we had a meal and it was excellent then we have just came back after staying in Lincoln for 4 days wanted to go somewhere different and out of Lincoln so I used TripAdvisor for dog friendly restaurants saw this phoned them to ask and yes they except dogs so we headed towards the pub from Newark at the time not realising until we came of the a1 that we have eaten here before we'll after all this time it's still a very excellent place to go and eat the pizza was fantastic we will definitely remember this place in future thank you to all staff and owners for a fantastic service and food

Nice homemade food and lots of it with extra gravy, just a shame the food timings are a little out, we was a group of 4 adults and 1 child. 2 of us had nearly finished our Sunday roast before the other 2 adults and the child's food came out. Staff are friendly especially the girl behind the bar as it was her first day too. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, we asked to be called in from the play area when the food was ready Nice little play area for the small ones. Overall a nice little place

Happened to be in the area for a night and called in with two kids for food. Lovely staff, top quality food (plus good kids menu), and a good selection of drinks.

Camping up at orchid hills campsite,was told the fountain did nice food and a nice beer garden,although quite a local clientele. The food was bang on,I had the mixed grill...beautifully.. local produce..couldn't finish it,Mrs had the swordfish with avocado lime salsa...beautiful...landlord was spot on with service and all the locals was really friendly. That good we gate crashed a 40th birthday party on the beer garden and had a lovely food and a great night...when were camping in the area again we will be back...

Had a lovely meal. And a couple of drinks to finish off our holiday. Meal was really nice and very hot. Steak pie was lovely so was the pizza and garlic bread. The 2 guys were very nice aswell.

Stopped here for lunch , delighted we did. Excellent beer, very very nice food and lovely service. Great for children as well.

I have eaten here several times since our pub in Egmanton was forced to shut its doors recently. I have tried several other venues locally for Sunday lunch and can honestly say that I and my fellow diners will say that it is by far the best Sunday lunch in these parts.

Visited here on a Friday evening, we stood at the snug bar 15 mins waiting to be served, the other bar was full of locals ,it seemed like the locals were more priority than strangers ,in the end we walked out as we were fed up of waiting, not be going here again.

Fab Sunday lunch. Service a little slow but it is better than being rushed. A locals pub, friendly and quite busy.

The food was great (especially the sausage rolls),everyone was very helpful.

Was just staying round the corner and was the only pub with in walking distance empty when we got there and decor wasn’t there best so was unsure about ordering food from there but read some good reviews so thought we would try it and I’m so glad I did as the food was absolutely lovely I had burger and chips the wife had fish and chips both the meals were beautiful Would highly recommend this place

Popped in tonight to see the new owner who I've worked with before. Brilliant atmosphere, Frenchie and his business partner Richie have so many new plans for the business. Great new menu, looking forward to tasting the food on our next visit!

We've eaten here before although it was probably a year or so and it was very good then and still very good this time. We were three only ones in the restaurant section and the landlords were very helpful and friendly. The food was a good selection and the foods itself tasted great. Good sized portions even the child meal was great. Good value.

Arrived to hotel/pub in darkness. Booked through Booking.com a few weeks ago. Phone number provided appeared to be disconnected Booking.com attempted to contact the hotel to no avail. The only option was to cancel booking and book into a premier inn nearby Not a good experience after driving all day!!!

For £36 a night im not sure what some people expect. It was warm and very clean,comfortable bed. Staff friendly! It’s an old building so don’t expect perfect decor. We will book again! Thankyou

Great little village pub with lovely drink and grub. New bar manager Allairn is not only a handsome chap, he is organised and friendly and a font of all knowledge. The bar staff are lovely and always attentive to customers needs. Great croud of customers with good crack.

Absolutely dreadful. Food below average, very cheap ingredients and didn’t come with what was described on menu. Room was freezing cold as were the plates. One meal had to be sent back as it was cold and it obviously got a 30 second ding in the microwave which then made it soggy. Not a great experience!!

Friendly service and clean (if tired) rooms.

Look’s nothing like the pictures. Strong bad smell as soon as you walk through the door. Badly needs a painting update. Got worse as we opened our room door we were greeted to a strong smell of bad drains and chewing gum in the carpet, tea/coffee spills on the top. Mentioned it to the lady, was instantly ignored. Left, booked somewhere else. Reported it to booking.com - no refund or inspection was applied! Wondering how has it got the reviews???🤔

On first impressions was very disappointing. The entrance was unkempt, the carpets were dirty and you climbed stairs to the rooms on a carpet, that again, had seen better days. However the room was OK. Was old and in need of a face-lift but OK. The bedding was clean and the white towels were white. Biscuits and drinks were provided along with a kettle and hairdryer and tv.

I ordered takeaway fish and chips and pulled pork BBQ nachos. I collected them on time. The pictures below show what cost me 24 pounds. It was inedible. The chips were raw despite being black, the batter on the fish was wet and soggy. The peas were dry like they were actually instant mushy peas or something! The nachos were burned. Never again.

Think the staff were a bit amused by us wanting dinner at 12, but really enjoyed it. When it first arrived (roast dinners) there were mumbles from one of the table that it didn't look much and there was no veg, The veg was hidden under the meat and it's pot luck what you get as its mixed, my Mother in Law didn't get any carrots but I did and it was all delicious (one slice of beef was chewy, but I put that down to the meat, not the way it was cooked) and more than enough for me. The two roasties tasted more like mini jacket potatoes, they might be as they have the skin on, and the mash tastes like jacket potato mash, which I like. Teenagers had pizza and chicken burger, I've been told the chips were really nice, and the pizza eater wanted to go back the next day. The chicken dinner was a cajun? chicken breast, but again was told it was really nice. Will definitely go back at some point.

The hotel is on the outskirts of Tuxford next to the main railway line so expect some noise. The hotel is a local pub restaurant with live bands but during my stay there was no late night noise The room was fine apart from that the electric socket is dangerous the staff acknowledged it has been reported before. The room had signs of damp and the double glazing has misted over. The room servicing was hit and miss my door was left unlocked by staff Overall it needs improvement

Badly in need if redecoration, no way to access before 5pm to drop bags off, no food on Wednesdays, probably a blessing, dress cushions on the bed were dirty and smelly. Window would not shut, couldn't sleep due to noise from railway and pub underneath us

Very good food, good value for money. Nice staff and ambience is also okay. There is a billiards table and a slot machine. You can definitely go out for a good meal and a drink👍🏻

We stayed one night at very short notice a very friendly member of staff looked after us no food on that night but offered alternatives ,large room was clean and tidy with clean bedding and towels toilet was awful noisy macerator so don’t flush at night ,good hot shower you got what you paid for the travel lodges aren’t worth the money but this is good value slept well comfy bed tea making and good tv bath and shower good value

Stopped by here for a quick drink. Friendly staff and accommodating when we wanted to sit outside. Enjoyed the atmosphere so came back the next day for some grub - great pizza!

Visited for Sunday dinner. Was welcomed with a big friendly smile from bar staff. Choice of food is great and the food is excellent. It was well cooked and in good portions and at a good price and served in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. What more could you want. We will definitely return .

I have come away for a couple of days with my husband on a caravan site, the pub near is the fountain. Amazing food lovley friendly atmosphere l would highly recommend a visit .

We was in Tuxford for the weekend at the local caravan park and popped into the Fountain for a drink after a walk, it was a lovely atmosphere with family's and couples, it has a good selection of drinks, my wife had a cider but didn't like it so I went to the bar to buy a different drink the landlady exchanged it without payment which was very nice of her, we will certainly pop in again when we are over that way. 😀

Brilliant place amazingly accomodating staff that are more than happy to help with anything, the rooms are top notch we have stayed in Hilton hotels and we would prefer the rooms here anyday. A full size bath in the bathroom is great, and then there's the food which truly is to die for, I recommend the homemade stonebaked pizzas to anybody. Our second stay now and looking forward to many more Even let me keep 2 mountain bikes in the room during our stay 🙏

The Pizza’s here are spot on and well priced. I have tried a few other things on the menu and they have been okay - would only ever get the pizza from here personally. Nice little place, tidy and nice manager. Not my preferred place to drink in Tuxford but it is a good spot in the summer for a pint or two with nice decent beer garden.

When we booked this place last minute on a Friday night we expected a very basic room because of the price. And goodness were we wrong! Hotel is lovely and clean, rooms are large with everything you'll need for your stay and more, we even had a bath, which we miss out on at home! Lovely little touches like biscuits and shower gel etc left for us. We arrived late and the owners made every accommodation for us,including calling us to inform us of the process to get in the building. The restaurant downstairs is a must, the pizzas are to die for and the prices are great too! We've well and truly found a gem here and we will be back!

The bar staff are wonderful and friendly. Always there ready to serve. At this time of year the open fire is very welcoming. The food is reasonably priced and very tasty. If in Tuxford stop by and have a drink and some lunch. The room we stayed in is very clean and very comfortable beds. Just one minor downer. The room was freezing all the time.

The food here is excellent, we go with friends and tend to share a few starters and then share a couple of pizzas, all of which were very good, with just the right ratio of bread base to generous toppings.

We went here on Boxing Day, expecting a Christmas dinner, as they stated it was cooked all through December. When we went to order, we were told they weren't doing the xmas menu. The food we did order was nice, but we were disappointed no xmas menu was on, as stated. It would have been nice if they'd said on their page that it was not happening. We didn't have a proper dinner on Xmas day, instead we looked forward to going out for one, for the first time ever. We won't be returning. We were the only ones in there too. It's not as if it was packed and the food had ran out, surely. Not impressed at all.

Good service and reasonably priced food and drink

It was an ideal location near our venue, as well as a reasonable price. However, the way to the rooms was either right through the bustling bar or through the KP station. The KP station as I'm sure you can imagine had sticky floors and empty rubbish lying around. The room itself was very small but that works for us. We had to use the bedside lamp for light as the ceiling light contained an energy saving lightbulb that even after an hour of being on the room was still pitch black, with the faintest of glows way up on the high ceiling. We visited in September so the weather was warm enough to not need heating, however if we did I'm not sure the tiny broken heater would have done much. All of the people that worked there were so lovely and professional. We ate in the bar on our first night and the atmosphere and food was great! We seemed to have visited this tiny village pub on a night they had a live singer! The whole local population crammed into the tiny pub to listen to her. She sang all the classics, and everyone joined in uproariously...Well into the night. Unfortunately our room was right above the pub and we could hear the enjoyment till about midnight, the vibrations of the music and dancing making it feel like the bed was downstairs in the pub. We were able to laugh through this and the next night was drastically different, the pub was practically empty, so we had a great sleep that night. Overall, they are working with what they have, the people were really lovely! But I'm not sure I'd ever consider staying again.

Bar is in middle of pub. One side is for eating and drinking. The other side has a pool table and big area for holding party's.

Very lively place to have a good burger accompanied by beer.

Visted the fountain, a couple of times since moving to the area, the pizza is fresh and homemade highly recommend the pizza and the Philly cheese fries 👌

This was fantastic experience of very well organised staff at the Fountain Pub and because of short notice and the pub changes, there was 18 of us for a 80th birthday celebration and I can’t say anyone was disappointed with the food from the beef to pork and the chicken which melted in your mouth. The staff were very accommodating if there was a issue, throughly enjoyed the desserts too. I would certainly recommend to any of my friends and family to give this place a try .

Fab Sunday lunch for under a tenner 👌

The pub itself is acceptable. The rooms they rent out are far from desirable unless you are used to sleeping on a train station platform. There is a mainline railway about 20 metres from the accommodation windows

The staff were brilliant and the food was very tasty. The room we stayed in upstairs though left somethng to be desired - the walls could have used a bit of a clean (not as bad as some of the other reviews!) and although advertised there was no iron. That said, we slept well and it did the job for the couple of nights we were there.

Went to go get something to eat but they didn't serve food on that day along with a couple of other ls was a bit gutted but got fish and chips in the small village and had a pint on way back very nice pub though just shame they don't do food everyday

Booked for 6, 4 adults and 2 young children. (3 and 18 months). Food was great. Very large portions and tasted great. Staff were very friendly and loved talking to the children. If I was local I would be making this a regular place for myself.

This is the place for a Sunday dinner, a choice of meats perfectly cooked, ample amounts of seasonal vegetables, gravy full of flavour.

We ate here every day when stopping at the Greenacres site over the Bank Holiday weekend. Choice of lagers and ciders, only one ale on but it was lovely and in good condition. We enjoyed the steak, chicken wings, goulash, steak pie - decent portions. Will perhaps try the burgers next time. Staff made us feel very welcome. Will visit again when staying in area.

A proper pub with a really good menu and selection of beer, the staff were attentive and welcoming . Made to order pizza including dough, which is not your usual frozen rubbish. The pies though are for me the best on the menu. All at our table had a great time and felt at ease. Well done the Fountain !

Nice place but dissappointed only serving food thursday-saturday. Not stated when booking.

Five of us stayed on Saturday night (24th July). The food was great and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Pauline the manager was amazing and has a wicked sense of humour (she had to have to put up with us) 😂. Ibiza night was fab and the dj was great. Cannot wait to go again. The Evans clan 😊😊

I have wonderful memories of this place where you can eat vegan pizzas and very good cider! I hope to be able to return soon. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, the products are quality at a reasonable price. I highly recommend this restaurant !
