The cafe is part of a church, the food and service was very good, one small gripe, the tables are fine for two people but poor for three or more, would recommend to anyone visiting Worksop

Mmmmmmmmm, fish finger butties, sorry about that but I love this treat and they do it so well at the Crossing. Reasonable prices all round. Nice staff. Very clean eatery. And a wide menu choice for such a little place. An ideal spot to take a break from shopping or to meet with friends. It does belong to a church, but I'm an atheist only don't tell them - I don't want my fish fingers burning next time!

The staff are always very helpful caring & mean it is a pleasure to visit. It's compact but there always seems room for everyone. There is plenty of choice including those of us with allergies or food intolerances

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Having eaten in the Crossing Cafe on numerous occasions, usually with my sister and brother-in-law, I thought it about time I reviewed it on here. The Cafe itself has recently under-gone a makeover which has somehow given the illusion of more space, which is just as well as it remains one of Worksop's premier coffee spots.Along with it's extensive choice of coffee's, the Crossing Cafe compliments that variety of choice with an equally extensive food menu which naturally includes many options for a light snack to a full breakfast or lunch - plenty for vegetarians as well.Though fractionally more expensive than some other places in town I certainly wouldn't let that one fact put you off. If your preference is for "cheaper" food and beverages you need to bear in mind that that is often what you get - cheap food!!For a few pence more you get high-quality food & beverages, immaculately presented and served with a smile and a cheerful welcome from the friendly and ever-attentive staff. For an all round pleasant dining experience, whether it be just for a coffee or a midday meal, I cannot recommend the Crossing Cafe highly enough - but don't take my word for it, try it for yourselves, I'm certain you won't be disappointed!

My Wife and I are regular customers of this fantastic establishment, it’s that good, we travel 17miles round trip just to eat there, it’s always, clean, comfortable, the staff are friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble, a special mention for Ruby, no matter how busy she is or how unwell she feels she always greets you with a smile and asks how you are, professional and a credit to her employer, thank you all for always being the best in Retford 😉

Not a bad atmosphere as you walk through the door, although it took a few minutes for them to realise I was there, luckily the TV was on current affairs. Some tables still had dirty plates on them. Ordered a large sandwich and was asked if I wanted extras on, (egg was mentioned but I didn't get any). The sandwich was well worth the money (£4.60) as it was really full. Negatives were: bread was soggy but this was due to everything inside, eg coleslaw, salad cream etc. This also meant the sandwich fell to bits so I had to eat it with fork. They used clingfilm instead of foil/paper to wrap, this added to the mess when it was unwrapped. Big one for me was the lady DID NOT use gloves, I mentioned this and she said that she had just washed her hands, the clothes she was wearing were really dirty which did not fill me with joy. Overall the sandwich filled me up, the staff was kind and helpful but I won't return as I prefer cleanliness above all else.

This pub is a tale of two halves. The decoration & ambiance of the pub is lovely, loos are clean and ample parking. The pub was wonderfully dog friendly & the lady behind the bar & taking food orders was wonderful, friendly and vey helpful, the drinks were great and amazingly cheap.....However..... I'm afraid the whole evening was ruined by the food. I ordered the Fillet steak, medium rare @ £25.00 (not expensive), I asked for side salad instead of onion rings, mushrooms & toms. No sauce. What arrived was a very small sirloin (poss rump) steak, 1/2 " thick with a good 1" of unrendered fat down one side and over cooked. Plus a side of pepper sauce I never ordered. I questioned if the order had been taken down wrong or misread but I was assured that the Chef says The steak is definitely fillet! & the sauce is complimentary!..... I am not a butcher but I do know what a Fillet cut looks like !!! This was NOT. I was on a date with my partner so didn't want to complain, or embarrass him, but I feel bad that I allowed him to pay for something I definitely didn't have! I ate the meal which was edible but not what it was meant to be. The couple on the table behind us had a lengthily argument with the chef about his steak, sent one back & refused to pay for the second!! I don't mind if things aren't available or the kitchen is short staffed. I don't care of orders are taken or read wrongly BUT to be LIED to is unforgiveable. If I was there on my own I would not have accepted my meal. That said, my boyfriend's Faggots were lovely.......In short, A lovely pub for a cheap drink.......just don't have high expectations of the food.
