Didn't eat but a great pub with friendly people

Its a very nice place, staffs are great. Loved to go back there.

The beer is good, the owners are friendly. A huge beer garden with a play area for kids. A great place for a special event too in the marquee.

Another great pub visited this week, a good turn out from clubs in east mids and a head count of around 200 came for this event held here. Everyone we spoke to said the same thing top score in all areas.

Pub is in a nice setting. Disappointed to only find doombar on. Children's play area needs some tlc.

We had the most wonderful evening here. An emotional evening and the staff cared and looked after us. If you are wanting a Christening or birthday don't hesitate or just a lovely drink in a nice garden for adults or with children where they can safely play. Don't hesitate to visit. Nice and friendly pub shame doesn't do food

We just had a drink. Was the first time we have been. Very pleasantly surprised with the outdoor area. Will be going back

Sadly they weren't doing food so I'm unable to comment on that. This has to be one of the friendliest pubs I've stopped at. They allowed me to park overnight in the car park. The staff were great and the locals were really friendly! Lovely wine served, great atmosphere and conversation. Child friendly up until 8pm but then children have to be out. Highly recommend and I'd definitely stop there gain.

Stop over with motor home.. The pub was excellent staff very welcoming.. No meals but could order a takeaway delivered to pub and all plates etc supplied by the pub. Couldn't fault the premises staff and the locals were friendly as well. All in all would recommend.

Always made to feel very welcome here, proper local pub feel and the kids play area is great - definitely recommended.

Typical nice pub interior. Good drink variety, reasonable prices. Free Entertainment ( female vocalist ) good. Enjoyable time. Always clean & tidy inside. ( Forgot this earlier ! Sorry !) Staff friendly. Decent friendly clientele.. Nice outside area / decking/ beer garden to to rear of pub Ample free parking.

Had my husbands wake at the Gate inn the food was lovely and landlords were very accommodating everyone said that it was a good spread and a lovely atmosphere too thank you Gate inn for making a very hard day much easier

Lovely traditional pub. We drop in maybe 5-6 times a year when visiting family in the area, and the owners and staff always recognise us and give us a friendly welcome.

We stopped over in a motor home. Lovely welcome by staff and landlords. Great beer. No food served but they provided takeaway menus and plates for us to eat our delivered curry in the bar. Will be back

I loved the food on first time one recommendation the Teriyaki Salmon would of been better on a bed of rice traditional Japanese way

Thank you so much for the beautiful buffet yesterday for my dads funeral. Everyone commented on how good it was, Cathy catered for everyone’s dietary needs, making dairy free scone’s so no was excluded from the beautiful spread

Would like to thank Mudfords for doing an amazing job with the marquee. Mandy Palmer for doing the best buffet I’ve ever seen. Russ Brett for the great job of entertaining my guests plus family and Cathy at the Gate and her amazing bar staff who made sure everything ran smooth I had an amazing birthday and if I was to have another function I certainly would use The Gate again. Highly recommend this place for any social events.

Couldn’t of picked a better place to have my mums 60th birthday party! Their garden was a perfect place for the marquee and it looked amazing!! Cant thank the staff enough for looking after over 100 people all night keeping their drinks full 🥂 if your looking for somewhere to host your party/function then the gate is the one🤍 once again Thank you!

Went to a 60th birthday party and it was amazing there was a marquee in the gardens by Mudfords and it was beautiful. The food was amazing catered by Mandy Cooper and the bar staff were brilliant every single one of them couldn’t do enough for you. The whole evening ran brilliant. Thankyou Cathy for hosting the party at your establishment.

Wow where do i start with this 5* review. On the 16th Of July me and my husband got married with our venue being at the Gate inn Ordsall. We approached Cathy, 2 years ago to secure our date and have been in talks for the past year to ensure our day was absolutely perfect. My oh my was it. We expressed our feelings about our wedding to Cathy on what we was wanting for the big day and she went above and beyond. The Catering was absolutely spot on, even our fussy eaters in the family were telling us how much they enjoyed all the food for the day and night time. All our guests were looked after all day and night by Cathy and her amazing team of hard workers. Thank you all for everything you did to make our day outstanding. The Gate Inn is honestly a hidden little gem and not appreciated enough. If i could give more than 5* i would!

Lovely place to have a drink on a warm day. A credit to Ordsall.

My sister and mother went to this place yesterday and they got double charged for a round of drinks, when confronted about the double charge they claimed only one payment went through and the second payment would of come back the following day, this hasn’t been the case. Also they decided to do a second round and was over charged 10p. After reviewing on there Facebook they received nothing but abuse from the establishment. This is terrible customer service and very disappointing. I would advise avoiding this place entirely since clearing customers are not treated well.

Recently had my sons birthday party after being to a previous party here as absolutely love the outdoor space it has! I will definitely have more parties here. Definitely recommend to friends and family. It is perfect for the kids with the play park!

We had lunches delivered to our work place to try and bring in some festive cheer. The food was amazing. A lot of time and effort had gone into these boxes to make a beautiful winter treat. I can only imagine what the hospitality is like onsite. Extremely impressed

We used the Gate Inn to have my husband's celebrationof life. The food they put on was lovely great atmosphere very friendly staff and land lady. Thank you for making a hard day turn into a very pleasant one.

It was after my friends funeral and the staff were great 👍 I had some great company of my own and we had a really good time, very nice pub.

Very much a locals only pub. The beer is fine and the pub is clean and tidy, with a good garden area. I just didn't feel at all welcome as an outsider.

We went to the Sunday Lunch Carvery as a group of four. The quality was good and the servings were huge. Very good value. We would definitely go again.

We went here during a caravan trip, just up the road at Longholme Farm. Nice warm smiles all round from the moment we arrived, and lovely food. We couldn’t find a taxi to take us back, so the manager gave us a lift back. So kind! Highly recommended!

Brilliantly run lovely decor stunning building lovely location original pub in old part of village opposite All Hallows' medieval church . This is my local brilliant pub great atmosphere beer and food are fantastic 90% of the time and sports always shown on big screen would definitely recommend.
