Told would be a 15 miniute wait , it was 28 minutes , lots people who came after got thier food before me was told had to wait for cod but many people who came after me had cod and was served and gone, fish was extremely greasy literally siajed despite being in paper , chips were nice

Popped in while on my lunch break, greeted with smiles all round from the staff, food was served fresh, fast and hot! And the portion sizes do not disappoint! All the staff are amazing happy and friendly and it’s definitely the best chippy in Retford!

Great fish whenever I'm in the area !! With lovely service from the girls! Boss lady niki and daz (Mr potato head my kids call him) running the show always talking to all the customers and making everyone feel at home Will always pop in when I'm back!! Chicken curry rice chips for me !!! And fish & chips for the fella

The worst fish and chips I have ever had.ithink these where left over from lunch time .chips where shriveled up and the batter on the fish was so dry and hard I had to use a steak knife to cut it.all this and it cost £20 for two fish and one portion of chips.never again

This had become our regular Fish and Chips now we live on this side of town, portions are great, good is great and the staff are all bubbly and have a chat even when busy

We spent as a family £35+. The majority of the haddock and chips was thrown in the bin. One of the fish tasted as though it was 3 weeks old. Never again.

Having read all the reviews we thought we'd give them a try. Personally I was disappointed. I know everyone has their own preferences but for me I do not like fish fried with the skin on, also the batter was really thick to the point that there was more batter than fish! Won't be going back.

Fish and chips in New Zealand just doesn't compare with proper English fish n chips! I ordered cod and chips and thr fish was huge! Crispy batter and beautifully cooked fish. Chips were OK, not as good as I have had in the past. Ordered 2 portions of chips for 3 people but we only managed to eat one portion between us. Lovely to have mushy peas too!

Ordered 2 mini fish and chips and had a slight issues with my order as I was missing a gravy. However I rang up and even though they had closed the nice gentleman went out of his way to bring me what I was missing to my home so my food didn’t go cold, on top of a free bottle of drink 🙂top notch customer service and the food is always lovely couldn’t fault anything highly recommend. Wooow what an experience.. i went with my family of 4 to try this traditional chip shop i heard so much about and it was all true.. from the freshness of the fish made my mouth watering everything else was fresh too chips sauces and kebabs.. and obviously coming with warm smile by the owners and the welcoming staff 5 stars just because isn't any more stars to give 😉

I have lived in Retford since November now and this is the first time I have had fish and chips from Papa’s and to say it was only a baby portion there was loads and they tasted so good. Definitely will go here again.

Over priced muck chips allways luke warm,fish is never fresh its been frozen sasuges are just cheap and nasty and the donner meat and chicken meat is horrible none of them can cook allways under cooked i will never ever waste my money again on this rubbish

I have picked up takeaway a few times and the people are great. The food is good including the Doner Kababs as well as the fish and chips. Service can be busy at times but well worth the try

Never been here before. I was impressed at how organized everyone was and how clean the shop was. The girls were friendly and efficient whilst having banter between themselves and customers. The fish was excellent. Moist flesh with a crispy tasty batter. The only thing l could find fault with was the chips. I like my chips with colour and crisp on the outside whilst being fluffy on the inside. But you cannot please everyone all the time. Overall a professional and personal experience.

The best Fish and Chip Shop in Retford. Always consistan, using only fresh fish and the chips are amazing. My son would not eat a kebab from anywhare else. The service is excellent and very frendly staff and they look after their customers.

Told that Papas was open for takeaway in lunchtime Retford. A short walk from Market Square through Cannon Square. Friendly staff, fish cooked to order, good chips and generous portions with modest prices. Be pleased to eat their fish and chips again. They were well protected with PPE and easy to wait for order outside in sun.
