The best restaurants in Amber Valley East Midlands

Absolutely lovely staff, great curries & amazing naan bread! Staff are so polite, I've asked for extras (extra chilli, cheese, garlic) which they've happily given me with no extra charge, delivery is quicker than the time they give you. My go to curry house. Definitely recommend!

Poor place no steak available in fact a very limited menu walked out

Really frustrating. Food is lovely and obviously because of that they’re very popular. Ordered online for an hour delivery, now they have called to say they’re so busy it will be at least an hour and a half! Please don’t prioritise the walk ins over deliveries that have already paid and are relying on you! Won’t be using again which is a shame.

Valentines Day lunch. Great Timothy Taylor Landlord beer, kept perfectly. Lamb Shank was admirable, Fish pie was delicious, Sausage and mash was ok then came the pie of the day. Ooops, The pie crust was old. Not browned nor puffy just a bit of old tough pastry. The filling was good. It came with rustic chips which were perfect. The mushy peas contained something other than mushy peas. 3 items which looked like old chips or there must have been some "crust" in the mushy peas pan. It looked to me like old chips which called up a vision of other peoples plates being scraped back into the pan. The meal was immediately sent back with a request for explanation. The Chef was adamant that the 3 items were mushy peas. I'm 77 years old and have never had mushy peas like that. Anyway an alternative was offered which by then meant I would be eating on my own as the rest of party would have finished. My wife has had a restaurant for over 20 years and couldn't understand the reluctance from the server and apparently the chef to admit something was wrong. Will I go back? Probably not. Although the beer was great the meals were ok, however there are better and more competitive venues in the area. I don't like being told I can't identify mushy peas!

Después de habernos alejado de casi todos los demás restaurantes de Meadowhall debido a un tipo de obsesión por el control de un tipo u otro, nos sorprendió gratamente nuestra primera visita a Five Guys. El personal fue muy amable y pudimos ayudarnos a rellenar y salsas que es casi inaudito en este momento, pero un cambio muy agradable. La comida era cara pero muy buena. Mi sándwich resultó ser una hamburguesa pero muy sabroso. Las patatas fritas cajún eran preciosas. El batido fue excelente. Sin duda volveremos a visitar aquí en nuestra próxima visita a Meadowhall.

This cafe was such a big disappointment and not what you would expect. This is more like a transport cafe than a place synonymous with high quality offerings. It damages the experience, expectations and brand of Denby - a well loved, high quality and respected brand in England and throughout the world. People aspire to have Denby pottery in their homes because the quality is second to none and has a rich history of beautiful designs. So…….when visiting Denby you would expect this quality and attention to detail to flow throughout their shops here….. not true. The cafe really lets down the image and whole experience of Denby. They may use Denby pottery in the cafe but that is the only decent thing there. It’s like stepping into an old transport cafe and canteen. Awful table and chairs, very poor decor and design. The coffee was terrible and food was…. Transport cafe food. The staff desperately need training in almost every area of service. And the toilets ? Very dirty. Enough said… Senior managers and owners of Denby surely can’t take any pride in this cafe. It’s an embarrassment to the brand.

We visited on the 8/8/24 ,a mix of seniors including one 90yr old gentleman.This was a very special day for myself & niece who hadn't seen for sometime. We all chose our selection ok but the elder senior requested an item not listed for lunch!! After discussion with the helpful waitress his wish was granted , he thoroughly enjoyed his special Chip butty with extras & made short work of it. His day started with sadness but his surprise lunch made his day. Thankyou for the kindness.

I put this feedback in a message to the venue, but they chose not to reply. Whilst the lunch food was fine, the other customers were terrible. F this. C that. And then some racism during the football they'd put on in the very small room in which we were having lunch. They were regulars and one of the party challenged the racism and asked the person to tone it down a bit - but I believe a member of the management team was present and this behaviour wasn't calmed down. Its a small enough venue for the bar staff to hear eveything too

We used to go for dinner every week when we did our weekly shop and it was good value, good food and excellent staff. HOWEVER, since reopening after Covid it has been turned in to a 'snack' cafe only, no meals. It is abysmal. Apparently the management wanted it to be a Costa kind of place. Well if we wanted Costa we would go to Costa! If we wanted dinner before shopping we went to Sainsburys! Anyhow now we cannot get dinner there we no longer shop there either, so not only have they lost cafe custom, they have also lost shoppers.

Awful attitude of the staff - supposed to be open until 4pm but saw a couple get turned away. Notices on the tables saying where you could or couldn’t sit. When the coffee was served the cups were banged down on the table. Shame as the coffee was nice.

Received a menu through the post today so decided to give it a go.. prices were at least 50p more than the menu delivered price.., food came cold! One of the kebabs a steak one I think was more like a salad kebab really not worth the money no sauce as requested and the bit of steak there was was as tough as old boots so not really very happy 1st and last order

We have visited this place many times. The staff are absolutely lovely, friendly, welcoming and warm. The food is cooked freshly to order and is always delicious. The cafe is always clean, the staff attentive and they play great 80's music!
