We have visited this place many times. The staff are absolutely lovely, friendly, welcoming and warm. The food is cooked freshly to order and is always delicious. The cafe is always clean, the staff attentive and they play great 80's music!

We were in Alfreton early ish on a Saturday morning and fancied breakfast, we looked at star cafe but didn't fancy it, looked across the Rd and spotted here, so we ventured in, we weren't disappointed, the place is lovely clean and friendly, the breakfast was cracking too, definitely visit again.

I would not recommend this place in Alfreton - I went in and had like Meat (say Braizing Stake or similar) and it was so poultry and very dear for it's price and all of it was of a poxy portion and nothing to the veg at all I would not recommened this place - yeah it's no Greasy Spoon granted but it's way way over-priced and I won't be visiting again in any rush, what-soever You can get just as nice meals of a similar type of food in the Star over the Road and twice as cheap and twice as good

Called today for a breakfast and a cuppa. It's a high street diner, so don't expect the Ritz. I can't fault the service, or the food Polite staff, a decent sized breakfast and a decent mug of coffee. We would certainly call again.

Called here for lunch whilst in the area. Good menu and great prices. I had the gammon, egg, chips and peas. This was cooked fresh to order, so a short wait, but worth the wait.

Visited on 2nd August, ordered a Latte, & cup of tea & ordered toasted tea cake & a bacon cob. Our drinks were hot on arrival & the Latte was very welcoming. Our food arrived within the expected time. It was presented well & was lovely & hot, no problems with the service, the lady was polite & welcoming. Will go again

Visited on two occasions the first time service was longer than expected when prawn salad arrived absolutely covered in prawn cocktail sauce which was not expecting salad very basic lettuce cucumber and tomato. Politely explained not expecting prawn cocktail sauce not on the menu took further ten minutes to return with a few prawns and same basic salad not good value for money a bit of onion pepper or beetroot would have been nice On second visit ordered food at counter taking drinks to table cafe almost empty then sat and waited half an hour for food couples and families arriving after us were being quickly served with almost exactly the same as we had ordered Went up to the counter explaining we had run out of time and had to go when food arrived not looking at all appetising no apology for time taken only explanation was that some things take longer to cook then others saying others must have had sandwiches which they had not they had chips the same as us requested refund and given one as no time left to eat. Will never be returning would have been nice to have someone actually smile at me or apologies for time taken but no such thing was made to feel or so ally like it was our fault for waiting over half an hour Previously eaten across the road at Star cafe and always been delighted with food and service advise you to do the same

Warm, welcoming and popular pub. We had the lamb's liver dish from the new menu, which was delicious. Followed by sticky toffee pudding, and a dark chocolate Basque cheesecake. Fantastic value menu for the quality of the food, not to mention the first rate service. Highly recommended.

First visit to the Jug and Glass under new ownership and wow what a difference. The pub still has its old charm inside, traditional bar, log fires with a facelift outside. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive and it was lovely to see Jake the owner helping out too. We all enjoyed a proper traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings, extra gravy and stuffing. We couldn’t fault any of it. All freshly cooked and served. Family and dog friendly with a good mix of locals and new customers. We will definitely visit again.

Don't be fooled by the dog friendly tag on the board at the front. With the minimum of at least water for a dog unfortunately there is no sign of. Coupled with sharp flint on the floor means any dog not comfortable. Call me picky but Bank Holiday would see most of the pumps available. Sadly the opposite applies here. Most pumps have a sad glass covering them indicating "that ones off". Could be really nice with a little thought. Better pubs closer that are actually dog friendly & you stand a chance of actually drinking a beer that you want.
