My worst spoons experience, a regular user to spoons sites. Very busy and a long wait, which is OK. But the food should never have been served, shame on the staff for doing so. We did reject the food and it was replaced with eatable ones, stressing they were busy. Sorry but being busy means a delay on food not serving garbage. Pitch Kirkby branch was closed, far better

Ordered all day brunch and chargrilled chicken burger ,young staff had trouble finding the burger and had to get help.i asked for a side bowl of chips as that burger only comes with salad .when the burger arrived it was anemic and there were chips on the plate as well , obviously the staff had put through the skinny burger wrongly more training required!!

The staff today were excellent. I was in at 4 pm. 29/08/2024. Well done to the team.

The Waggon and Horses in Alfreton is a good place for a breakfast; there are often special offers for breakfast on the Wetherspoons app here as well. We visited early when it was very quiet and our food arrived really quickly. Our breakfasts were hot and delicious and the refillable coffee was excellent as always. Definitely recommended for breakfast.

A goto place for food drinks and a friendly atmosphere, highly recommended 👌

Yet again great place to eat and ideal for young families it's situated in postcard village and again ideal for your walks or driving around the dales

Perfect pre holiday breakfast as usual!

Server was too busy talking to friends rather than working, food had clearly been sitting on the hot plate for a while by the time it came out.

Nice whetherspoon near Tesco (free 3 hours parking). We ordered on the app and had great service. The food was delicious as always, for such reasonable prices. Would go back again if in Alfreton.

For a local Wetherspoons it's not bad.Could do with a updated interior though.Beer good.Food O.k.Service needs to be improved at busy times(depending on the staff/ bar associates) especially when there's loads of online table service orders & people waiting at tbe bar( I was stood waitiing a good 10 mins or more then walked elsewhere- could have got a bottle of something out of Tesco quicker).Please Mr.Tim Martin come to the rescue sooner better than later for the sake of the punters of Alfreton and surrounding areas.

Good food, cheap beer! Had to give up on camping owing to the gales, so packed up and went to Alfreton for (late) breakfast. We were heading for a well-known takeaway shop - that may well be known for their sausage rolls - but passed this place on the way there. Empty bellies said "go in", so we did. Clean pub: Decent food: Decent beer. Would go again.

Steak night Tuesday. Has been reduced dramatically. A steak and a baked potato on a plate is appalling.

Called Easter Sunday for breakfast waited over 30 minutes then had to ask staff if they had forgotten us then came 5 minutes after it was cold been coming here for along time if it doesn’t improve we will go elsewhere. Disappointed no excuses for food to be cold it wasn’t very busy either

Cosy Wetherspoons with a well presented interior. Ordered two ales that were showing in stock on the app, but neither were available, which was a bit annoying.

It's a Weatherspoons! What do you expect? The Hilton? Decent beer; better prices than many; OK steak. Not bad for a midweek pit stop / chat with friends etc. Comfy, relaxed environment. And, despite what many seem to think about 'Spoons pubs, I've never seen any trouble in one! : )

On our way to McArthur Glen we stopped off in Alfreton for a 'Spoons breakfast. And we got one. Yes, it's a 'Spoons, we knew it was 'Spoons and 'Spoons is what we got. The script was followed to the letter. Beans with a faint skin on that were lukewarm. Bacon that was just tanned enough to be described as 'cooked'. A sausage that needed copious amounts of sauce. An egg that was cremated within an inch of it's life and toast that had seen the grill but maybe hadn't ventured towards the light. Oh and hash browns sullenly sat at the side of the plate distancing themselves from the action. It was average, we ate, we drank some coffee and we left. It was just good enough and as i say, you know what you're getting anyway in a 'Spoons. Don't set your bar too high and you wont be disappointed.

Avoid!! Customer Service non-existent, I’m lost for words for once :/ cups of tea and coffee, lady brought them to our table, put them on the table did not say a word, tea stewing, with a teabag in the cup, did not say where to get the Milk from, we worked that out! We had an American breakfast over done fried egg look lovely 😏 but the yolk was hard, everything was over done and cold! My husband would not let me go and complain as he just said let’s get out of here! The building needs a complete refit, sticky tables. Happy birthday to me :/ having a lovely breakfast out. 9th March.

We called in for drinks after playing golf locally. A decent enough Wetherspoons with friendly staff and a huge selection of draught beers/lagers.

Oh dear. £8 for a double burger and a handful of chips, £11 for my triple burger. very small portions. Bacon was just slices of thin fat, no meat. I gave my partner my onion rings as she had very little on her plate. At the drinks machine the staff were loud in slagging off customers, using lots of f*cks and d*ckheads. Glad I didn't have my kids with me. It was freezing as heat wasn't working. Not their fault but could have put a notice on the door. Awful

Tenna for dinner and a pint. Can't really grumble at that. Usually have to clear a table ourselves and even when they have already been done, are still a bit grotty

We have been to Wetherspoon all over the country and always enjoyed good value for money food and drinks. Today I had the worst eating experience I have ever had anywhere! I ordered Turkey,bacon and stuffing panini off the Christmas menu. I bit into it,stone cold,the turkey was so hard and had a funny texture. I couldn't even cut it with a knife and fork. I went to speak to the lady who bought it to us. She too tried to cut it,said it was unacceptable and gave me a refund. My grandaughter had the same with chips. She ate a little of the chicken but left the rest. I was worried it would make her ill. Just awful.

A good Wetherspoons with a broad selection of food and drinks, most of which are pretty good value for money. Staff are generally friendly and helpful. Like most 'Spoons, the clientele is very broad! Certainly a few interesting characters lol. My only small gripe is that the place is very dated inside and is desperately in need of a refurb. That aside, all good!

Fairly typical spoons. Nice large pub with a few different areas to sit in and outdoor seating at the back.

Food was fine - in fact, it was actually cooked better than some other Spoons we have been to. But the place itself was awful. We sat down in between two tables, both with dirty plates on. We placed an order via the app. 20 minutes later, still no drinks. Both tables still dirty. We were about to go up and ask, but then our drinks arrived. The girl who brought them over didn't bother to clear any dirty tables on the way out. She also didn't seem bothered that one of us had ordered a coffee, and the coffee machines weren't working. A good 15 or 20 minutes after that, our food arrived. When the guy brought our food, he cleared one of the nearby tables of dishes and glasses. But no one came and wiped or cleaned it whilst we were eating. Get your *stuff* together. We sat next to dirty tables for nearly an hour. You were not busy. You had three members of staff on front of house. Your staff should not be behind the bar chatting, they should be out walking the floor and clearing tables. It was PAINFUL literally staring at a waitress gormlessly tapping a flickering advertisement screen behind the bar for 20 minutes, rather than getting us an empty coffee cup (for the broken machine...) and a Pepsi.

One off the best weatherspoons we have been in,always good service, until today 29th September 9.25 went in following a hen party, big mistake, stood at the bar, five, waiting, but the only staff on was serving breakfast, nobody at the bar serving, so walked out.

A little quiet but food was excellent and the beer was in good order the service was fast and very friendly

Very friendly staff and a nice pub but the choice of real ales compared to other Spoons is very poor. Generally only a couple of guest ales and lacking in variety from goldens to stouts. Go to Chesterfield or Ripley instead for a much better selection.

It us fine if it a casual pub visit. No reservations available hence difficult to organise a group visit. Except for one staff with braids, everyone goes above and beyond to give great service. This staff with braids was so unfriendly in her tone and had a straight face. Made us feel unwelcome.

Perfectly serviceable 'spoons, occasionally plagued with system malfunctions and otherwise avoidable problems. No fault of the staff, I'm sure, but my most recent order took 25 minutes (food) and 30 minutes (drink). Quality is as expected, but those letting their children run free outside should probably exercise a little more guardianship.

Really nice and pleasant bar staff, I was quickly served with a smile and made to feel important, our food was cooked properly and was very nice. Yes, I would recommend the Wagon and Horses.

It needs a really good spring clean. The carpets definitely need steaming or replacing and the seats need a good clean

Ordered food and drink on the app. Food came but no drinks. Asked at bar and they assumed our order was fulfilled and left it. Pizza was amazing and love the atmosphere but slightly annoyed at the service.

Place is in urgent need of a. make over had fish and chips the fish was dry over cooked and very few chips

Came on day out. staff was friendly and welcoming 🍺 was responsible price. We had food was very good.I had fish and chips, which was nice and crispy and severed with lemon wedg. the wife had curry best she had from a wetherspoons, and she had been to a lot. Will be back

I only occasionally visit this pub with a friend after we've had a good walk. It's a great pub atmosphere very nice, they do a very good selection of beers. I've never had food here , but it's very popular with the locals & they do look good meals. The only thing I don't like is the high chairs & tables I like my feet on the floor & you can sit back more comfortably. The prices are very reasonable. It's well worth a visit.

The beer was good and cheap but getting served is a task on its own. I was the only one at the bar and it still took 4 to 5 mins to get served. They must lose custom due to this.

We have been here before several times and really enjoyed the food however on the last two occasions the food was terrible. Ordered a meal with chips and they were stone cold sent the meal back . They cooked fresh chips but instead of heating the rest of the whole meal up they put hot chips with cold food . Sent it back again 3rd occasion and they cooked all from fresh again . Obviously it’s common sense if part of your meal is cold and they take it away you don’t just then bring back to the customer with some hot and some cold . We tried today for breakfast and asked for no bacon but instead could we have extra sausage instead. The breakfast arrived no extra sausage but they swapped for 1x extra mushroom instead. Same again freezing cold hash browns, beans . Never complained this time we have decided never to return again. Such a shame as previous times have been excellent.

Never again! No chutney with my friends curry dish! No apology just a rude waitress screaming they dont have any and its not her fault! When challenged she did reel off a list of other sauces. Why not do this in the first place? My steak had so much fat it shouldnt have been called meat let alone gourmet steak! I asked for medium but it was rare! I left more than I ate. I had the gourmet steak at the Standing Order in Derby recently and it was lovely so I expected the same. But this was an entirely different cheap cut! All in all a ruined evening.

I have used this pub several times in the past and have been happy enough with the foid and servuce. But laat nights mel meal was terrible, I met some freinds there, and we ordered our food, which we had to wait much longer thsn usual, but that was ok, we could see they were very busy. 3 of us had steak, none of it was cooked how we had asked (we had different sides ect, so could easily see who's was who's) there were no steak knifes, we all found it difficult to cut the meat with table knifes, the meat was very fatty & chewy, also in general the meals were only just warm as well. Im not one to complain, but we were all really disappointed.

Cutlery that was given for desert wasn’t cleaned properly, had smear marks and bits of food from their last serving on them. Not a good look. Besides that the food was good and obviously with it being a Wetherspoons it was an affordable price. Still doesn’t excuse the state of the cutlery though.

Spent an enjoyable couple of hours here on a Wednesday evening. Choice of 5 or 6 real ales and two high percentage scrumpy ciders for us card carrying CAMRA members. Several other keg lagers and ciders were available. A jovial barman which always improves a pub imho. Early evening very popular, but managed to grab a booth and noticed after 8pm on a weekday night it quickly became much quieter. We came by car, no car park but plenty of parking less than 5 minutes walk away after 6pm. Not sure about daytime parking. Within ten minutes of leaving we were back at our campsite in the Derbyshire countryside.
