Last visit 20years ago ..so recommendation tonight without granddaughters. Feeling very tired .but ended up visiting this pub .Date night ..lol ..absolutely amazing fresh cooked food . Hubby had a signature burger ,fries .burger plus looked like shredded beef ..I had red wine lasagne garlic ciabata bread,salad with an amazing dressing . Well done chef .so tasty ..thank you to the staff .such a lovely relaxing evening .definitely be back .. Ps 2nd visit .haddock fishcakes were amazing.

Popped in for a Monday afternoon treat and was very impressed all round. Molly was polite and courteous and Dan was quick and efficient at the bar and delivering meals to tables. We both had fish and said it was possibly the best fish we have had for a long time. Generous portions, excellent chips and mushy peas. We will be returning soon.

Chose the Rose and Crown for my birthday meal and it was absolutely amazing. Both the waitress and the gentleman on the bar were exceptional and made us feel incredibly welcome. Food was huge - amazing portion sizes - and absolutely delicious. We had a discount voucher and, whereas some venues make you feel like an inconvenience or embarrassment in using a voucher, staff at the Rose and Crown were amazing and wished me the happiest of birthdays. Beautifully clean and classy decor, lovely atmosphere … would highly recommend. Thank you to the team.

It was my second visit, this time we tried the Sunday roast!!! Trio was amazing !!!!(especially belly and cracking) The children's portions were so big that I had to finish them after my children! We didn't had space for dessert, im sure we will try next time! I highly recommend this place. THANK YOU

Value for money on the lunch menu is fantastic. Although not the cheapest, the quality was brilliant.. added to which the portion sizes were spot on. I find much of the time that lunch time specials sometimes scrimp on quality and/or portion size. Something not an issue with the Rose and Crown lunch menu. We were served by both Lucy and Jenna who were great. Great fast service without feeling rushed. Would deffo recommend the Rose and Crown for a great weekday lunch.

Popped in for lunch. Seems to have changed hands since our last visit and all the better for it. The interior is pleasant and some of the site's history is exposed for all to see. Service was good and attentive throughout. Food was what we ordered, cooked well and tasted good. Will definitely consider returning.

We recently had an amazing experience here, largely thanks to two fantastic waitresses, Lucy and Lisa. From the moment we arrived, their friendly and attentive service made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious—clearly something special, with every dish prepared to perfection. What truly stood out, though, was how Lucy and Lisa went above and beyond for my sister’s birthday. They surprised her with a custom pudding, which made the celebration even more memorable. Their thoughtful touch and excellent service really made our night. Highly recommend this place, and a big shoutout to Lucy and Lisa for making it so great!

I have visited this pub twice at Lunchtime & it gets very busy. An old style village pub,open fire Lovely Food friendly staff & Good Service.No Frills & fancy Furniture just a good pitstop.

Plenty of dining space, very busy during our visit but the staff / manager were attentive very efficient, one minor item missed from one of the plates but rectified quickly, great experience with reasonable prices. Called in for brunch (29/09/24), excellent service and the food was excellent quality and quantity with very competitive prices. 10/10 in every aspect.

Attended for a late lunch, greeted by friendly staff. All of site is wheelchair accessible. Building is clearly maintained and clean to a high standard. Found toilets to be very clean. Ordered lunch, Signature Burger, Fish Finger Sandwich and drinks. Both food and drink were served to the table quickly. The burger was quite big, topped with a pickle and onion rings. Tasted lovely! The Fish Finger Sandwich was nice too. My only criticism would be that I would have liked more salad greens. Both dishes came with a small portion of fries. Creme Brulee and an Amaretto coffee was ordered for dessert. Offered a choice of coffee styles when ordering. Both tasted nice, the brulee could have done with more sugar on top as it was extremely thin, almost non existent in some places. Overall, extremely impressed, both with food and service. 5* Definitely a place to return. 🙃

The food quality was good, it’s that some items of food were cold, eg. Chips, onion rings and the pot of burger sauce looked old.

Absolutely terrible service was terrible food was cold , I had a starter used my knife , fork which was for the mains , they came with the mains and hadn't cleared the starter plate away so then had to wait for some cutterly meal was going cold the main come vegetables were over cooked potatoes rock hard just terrible won't be going back it wasn't worth the money

The only two people in the pub at 1.30pm Given main menu expensive for lunch time. Ordered starter and dessert food nice and enough for lunch time. But it wasn't until we left the pub my friend noticed on the bar laying horizontal a lunch time menu and upon leaving we read facing the exit a board outside offering specials at lunch time. The other side of the board facing you and carpark entrance was just an advertisement for beer 🍺. I found this very frustrating when only given a main expensive 🫰 meal . We won't be returning.

Tried booking a table by calling. Did not get through to anyone, only a robot. Was promptly told, after a long wait, I could only book for a maximum of 0 people. Embarrassing service.

We had a lovely lunch over the Bank Holiday, Lisa was very lovely and gave me a replacement beer when I spilt mine. The pie of the day was a lovely steak puff pastry and was delicious, the deserts and drinks were also great.

The Rose & Crown has been one of our regular stop off points for around 6 or 7 years either after work on a friday or returning from shopping in Derby on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately we feel it has lost a lot of atmosphere recently and just does not have the same feel about it. Drinks prices have always been on the high side for this area but last week a large glass of white wine and a pint of beer was £15.00, yes £15.00 !!

We came here for Sunday dinner in the evening. The food was delicious, cooked by Krystof and Scott. Quick service by lovely attentive staff too. We'd definitely recommend.

Good gluten free choices. For took a little while but excellent when it arrived. Friendly, efficient staff.

Overall for a casual night out I found it very overpriced for mediocre food. Was not asked if I wanted to pay the extra 20% so it was a very expensive evening. I do tip but feel that it should be on my experience. Had to wait quiet a while between main and pudding even though the restaurant was quite empty. I've given a generous 3 rating

Disappointed on our last visit as several main meal choices unavailable so my friend and I decided to have starters and pudding instead but hey ho decided to try the Rose and Crown again. Welcome ok and waitress very nice, not sure if she was new to the job but on having some queries regarding the menu,, give her , her do , went to find the answers for us . Service of food was prompt , but to be honest there were not many diners in the place on this Saturday night . My pie and veg was nice , could have been warmer and had to ask if there was any gravy , which was bought to my table . However , my friends meal of rice and chicken , again not particularly hot with the rice being in thick glutenous lumps not a particularly pleasing presentation.The waitress did then ask if we d like more drinks, but declined at the time as still had some left . She came back half an hour later , my friend asked for a coffee and was told everything was shutdown and they were closing I said sorry I thought you were open until 11pm , to which I was told it s a restaurant not a pub. So after re arranging taxi times, left at 10.25 , was told we could wait inside till taxi came but quite honestly just felt unwelcome. My point is why did she not inform us when she came previously to ask if we wanted more drinks that they were closing early or did I read it wrong on the website stating opening hours were till 11 pm . Anyway, again not a brilliant experience of the Rose and Crown .

We both had a pleasant Sunday at the Rose & Crown. Good attention to detail. The staff were pleasant and attentive. I Recommend the lamb shank. Book if you can.

We visited on a Sunday for a roast dinner. We had the trio of meats. It was spot on. I couldn't fault any of it. We were welcomed with our 2 dogs, there was some glass on the floor and once we point it out to a member of staff she got the bush out and give a half hearted one sweep and that was it

We've just visited The Rose and Crown for the first time at Morley today and what an excellent food dining experience we've received from Jess and Jenna. It was lovely to see staff happy and friendly, they both made us feel very welcome and we both enjoyed chilling in lovely surroundings. My husband and I chose the salt and pepper squid, beef lasagna and chocolate brownie with ice-cream. The food arrived and it looked very good, it was hot and very tasty and my husband said it was the best meal he had out in a long time, in fact he said he would give 11/10. A big thankyou to you all including the kitchen team we will definitely be returning 😊

Always good at the Vintage Inns. Had the greens and grains salad which is lovely, but a bit too much dressing for me this time. Service was just right. Not many people in for a Saturday lunchtime but nice all the same.

Lovely staff, plenty of space and food was great - beef lasagne with wine, where you could actually taste the wine, and an amazing greens and grains salad.

Had a great experience here , it has a lovely warm atmosphere, staff very friendly and helpful . Food was delicious, great portions and great flavour also dog friendly which is great . I had fish cakes and they were unbelievably fresh , my partner had steak pie , really lovely food .

Roast was really nice, but camambert starter was burnt to a frazzle cant believe it was sent out with burnt bread and no chutney, was nice to sit in garden

I had a Calamares starter. It was fine but not quite as good as the last time I had it a few months ago. My main course of a Vegetarian Wellington was excellent and would definitely have it again. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful but it felt as though service in the kitchen was slower than previous occasions. However, all four of us were generally very pleased with our food and the service we received. Would certainly return.

So the 5 of us chose to go to Rose and Crown for a meal to celebrate my daughters birthday. Booked a table for 4.30. Just 2 people wanted a starters as others prefer a dessert. One had pate, one the chicken and both were fine, when they eventually came out at about 5.15. Then came the wait for the main courses. These finally came out at about 6.10, over an hour and a half after ordering them. The sea bass has frozen prawns on the plate which the waitress insisted was just cold as they been in the fridge for 2 days, but offered to warm them up, and the sea bass was that dry where it had been eithe over cooked or left warming that my daughter couldn't eat it and it was taken away. The roast dinners came out with a film on the gravy where it had been left either on a hot plate or in the oven to keep warm. The roast potatoes were that burnt you couldn't get a fork in them. Then there was the cauliflower cheese. So dry and over cooked there wasn't any sauce to be seen. They did reduce the bill but it wasn't the point. We were prepared to pay for a meal that we all could eat and not leave the restaurant feeling angry and upset especially as, like many people, we don't often get time to do this with our busy schedules. Especially as this was my daughters birthday meal. We did take photos. UPDATE. Would just like to say I spoke to Lisa today who was extremely understanding of the problems we occurred on this occasion and she has kindly sent us a voucher to give them another try. We will make sure we do this and post another review, hopefully this time with 5 stars.

The food is excellent and always of good quality and piping hot. The atmosphere is friendly and they allow dogs into the bar area. It's a great pub to go to.

Many items were unavailable from the menu when we ordered. Waitress blamed a new chef who does his own ordering. Getting drinks and food was almost an hours wait. I took friends for a meal and they commented that lack of choice and length of wait would stop them coming back. You need to ensure food is stocked well enough for demand and better waiting times are addressed.

The food smelled amazing as soon as we walked in. The staff were busy but friendly. We ordered fish and chips and a signature burger. Unfortunately, the first bit of the burger was gristle and was far too much mayo/ sauce and was sloppy. The server checked back and we told her it was inedible to which she asked “ your fries are ok though?” We weren’t offered an exchange or alternative. I think this is due to inexperience rather than bad service as she was lovely. This meant that I had to sit there and watch my partner finish his. Then then took his place and my full meal back. The receipt was brought to us and I had to ask her to remove my meal as it wasn’t eaten which she did. Unfortunately I left still hungry. On the whole, the service was great but I wouldn’t order the burger ever again. I am hoping it was just an off day

The food was very disappointing. It came to the table with things missing and it took ages to arrive..

We booked at table for 6pm. Taken straight to our table and drinks provided. Left to look at the menu which needed up being 40 mins. Other people arriving and them also kept waiting. Our order was taken easily and clearly. My vegetarian daughter ordered a salad topped with Halloumi. That arrived with a large chicken breast on top. It was then taken away and a fresh salad came Back with nothing on, we then had to ask for the halloumi again which arrived 5 mins later. We missed our meal, the two tables next to us finished theirs after wards but had their plates taken away and served deserts whilst we still sat there. We ended up leaving and paying at the bar on the way out. We would easily have spent another 40-50 on dessert but the staff were mainly young and too busy messing about amongst themselves. My hubby had steak which every mouthful was fatty and said it wasn’t enjoyable and my dads gammon was the best. The rest of us did enjoy our food but the service spoilt the experience. Won’t be going back!

Had a pizza last night and a sticky chicken starter, all was lovely. As with most pubs in this country it's getting harder to find sweetener free drinks (legalise sugar again!) so bottled coke was the only option for me. All in all a pleasant evening was had

It was easy to book a table, the staff were all lovely and friendly and the food choose was good, we both had Penang Chicken Curry and it was fabulous!

We reserved a table via the app, that was very straightforward. Plenty of parking on arrival. Service was good and efficient. Food was nice enough and cost was about the same as anywhere else, just over £70 for a single round of drinks and mains for a child and two adults.

Service was impeccable, the staff are amazing, very friendly welcome and knowledgeable. The food came out quickly and was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.

We came for a celebratory lunch on the 17th April, our table was booked for 1-30 & it was almost an hour later before our food arrived. The gentlemen who ordered fish, chips & peas didn't enjoy it at all, the fish was very dry. The older gentleman ordered curry & it looked like a stodgy mess. Two of us had the fishcakes, we found them very tasty but the potatoes were burnt & not very pleasant at all. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Visited as a party of 10 and had a super time. Excellent, unrushed service, food delicious and a quiet side area. Will be returning
