We visit often. The food is always great. The staff are lovely.

Edited to add another review as we've been back a couple of times now ☺️ *We will keep on going back here ...Food is absolutely amazing and the welcoming atmosphere even better ...Waitresses Jen & Jess went above and beyond and nothing too much trouble ...Very attentive and friendly even tho both absolutely rushed off their feet ...And two other staff unfortunately didn't get the name of, lovely girl behind the bar (glasses, blonde & dark hair) very friendly and lovely and again really friendly polite lad who brought our puddings out ...All of your staff are a real credit to you ...All round a very pleasant experience ...Thank you and see you again very soon! We reserved a table via the app, that was very straightforward. Plenty of parking on arrival. Service was good and efficient. Food was nice enough and cost was about the same as anywhere else, just over £70 for a single round of drinks and mains for a child and two adults.

Service was impeccable, the staff are amazing, very friendly welcome and knowledgeable. The food came out quickly and was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.

It was a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and was followed by a lovely meal

We came for a celebratory lunch on the 17th April, our table was booked for 1-30 & it was almost an hour later before our food arrived. The gentlemen who ordered fish, chips & peas didn't enjoy it at all, the fish was very dry. The older gentleman ordered curry & it looked like a stodgy mess. Two of us had the fishcakes, we found them very tasty but the potatoes were burnt & not very pleasant at all. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Visited as a party of 10 and had a super time. Excellent, unrushed service, food delicious and a quiet side area. Will be returning

Lovely staff. Let down a bit by long wait for food which when it arrived was ok, but the triple-cooked chips were very greasy. Also, the fish was overcooked and dry. When we left the odour of old cooking oil was wafting over the car park which probably explains the fish and chips.

Matt was a slaying queen 👑 (best compliment I've ever given) he was amazing with the kids and cracked a joke or to!

Nice meal good value but did notice that other people were waiting a bit to long for there meals there was a lack of waiting staff

Food and service was great. The two waitress however were rushed off their feet. They had to fetch drinks clear tables everything. They should have runners there was plenty of others not really doing a lot.

Fantastic service with delicious homemade food.. my son said it was the nicest fish and chips he’d ever had.. the staff invited our children to an Easter egg hunt in the pub and could not have been more welcoming .. would Highly recommend .

Went here for birthday meal after a poor experience on my last visit. Food orders still had issues with burger still containing tomatoes and gherkins despite asking for them not to be included. Chips on the cool side for my taste. Will probably not be returning here after two poor experiences.

Decided here for our 9th anniversary meal. Service throughout was great, the food was wonderful and it really is a traditional country pub feel. Thanks also to the waitress Lucy who was really welcoming and helpful.

Served by Matt and he was amazing throughout, food was not sent through properly but he let us know exactly what had happened and apologised although we weren't waiting long. The food was superb and we had a bit of discount due to order being a little late but like I said it was not even that late. 1st time eating here and I highly recommend 10/10 coming back soon ❤️

Initially disappointing. We arrived 5 minutes before our pre-booked reservation and waited for 5 minutes at the bar before a staff member appeared and asked if we had booked a table. When we confirmed we had she told us that she would inform her colleague who would show us to our table. A further 5 minutes passed before said colleague appeared and escorted us to our table. Knowing which drinks we wanted we asked to place an order to be informed that she would return 'in a few minutes'. 35 minutes later, on the verge of leaving, I heard her voice and approached her to enquire if there was any chance of placing an order for anything that afternoon. We received a heartfelt apology and our requested drinks within a couple of minutes. We are in no way criticising your staff member, merely making the point that for a half filled restaurant of pre booked tables, to have one staff member greeting, seating, taking orders for food and drinks and waiting on table is no way to deliver good service. We observed at least 6 customers arrive, wait at the bar, and leave without purchasing anything. Not a good look. Your staff members attitude was faultless in spite of being run off her feet. Apparently a colleague was on her way to help, but had not arrived when we left 90 minutes later. The food was excellent.

Had a wonderful time, with lovely atmosphere, me and my dad who are both celiac had a variety of choices and loved the fish and chips.

Lovely pub that although part of a chain has kept the style of village pubs as were. Welcoming with very friendly staff. On a main rd but at a crossroads. Would recommend anyone to take time if passing to try.

We went to the Rose & Crown for lunch today. Lovely pub & great food. There were only 2 staff out front today but they both did a superb job. For one it was her very first day, she did great holding the fort behind the bar & the other more experienced staff was supporting & managing front of house. Sorry I didn't ask your names but you both deserve credit for your hard work today. Despite the pressure you did a grand job & it was still service with a friendly smile. They are very lucky to have you. We'll definitely be back.

came in at lunch today and our server was beyond excellent. she was extremely helpful throughout our ordering process and made the whole experience 10/10. we always come back in hopes of her service . Lucy has always been my favourite waitress here so i think it’s time she gets some recognition. such a lovely girl, makes us feel so welcome everytime!

The waitress, concierge, in the black dress was so rude and disinterested in taking care of us. She pulled a face on several occasions to the bar tender, shaking her head as she walked away from our table. We were not difficult at all, in fact, we were extremely well-behaved! The food was dreadful! worst fish and chips I’ve ever had in this country. The batter was hard and the fish was dried out, the chips were cold. I’m from the USA! Coming from America, we tend to tip, at least 20%, in this case we left nothing!

Great Pub and Restaurant. The Food is very good and always hot. Service is great. Been for Lunch today and Lucy served us and could not have been more helpful. Have been three times recently and will be back soon.

Lovely food. Great service. My husbands roast was not very warm but the waitress quickly got a new one which was piping hot. Nothing too much trouble.

Brock lesnar was my waiter and I couldn’t believe it even got a photo after, great food and drinks and Lucy was great on bar.

I recently visited your establishment with a friend to celebrate their birthday. While the food was delicious, I was disappointed by the refusal of your bar staff to serve us after we had finished our meal and paid the bill. Although we may have been somewhat boisterous, we were never disrespectful and were simply enjoying ourselves. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.. ***EDIT After owners reply*** I appreciate your request for us to lower our voices, which we did. We may have sung happy birthday after that, which admittedly was loud, but it is customary to sing birthday songs and people usually react positively to them. Additionally, the group was separated because your establishment could not accommodate 13 people at one table. I was not the organizer of the event, but I believe you should have informed the group of this limitation in advance. This inconvenience naturally led to us speaking louder in order to communicate with each other. One member of our group was specifically informed that there was no more Jamerson available, after initially being told that there was another bottle. Regarding the language used by our group, we apologize for any offense caused. However, there were no children or other guests in the immediate vicinity who could have been affected by our conversation. I would like to emphasize that the male server demonstrated exceptional professionalism and composure in serving our group. He effectively managed a challenging individual within our group with remarkable attitude. Both the chef and he are valuable assets to your establishment. Finally I'd like to apologise for our excitement, Showing expressions of Joy and if there is a next time we visit the establishment I will make sure to sit with my finger on my lips as I was told in primary school.

Been twice in recent weeks. Great food both times for everyone in the party and really good service. Nice atmosphere both at a weekend and on a week night. We’ll be back.

Lovely 1st impression on arrival, atmosphere pleasant and great service. Table booked for 5.15, great looking menu, ordered food, all had starters and main, only negative at that point was that the service was slow! But wasn’t too bothered as we were chatting and drinking. At 6.45 waitress asked if we wanted puddings, we all asked to look at the menu but would definitely have a coffee if not. Waitress looked at her watch and said ‘just so got know we need this table by 6.50’!!! At that we all declined puddings and she moved us to a table in the bar to finish our drinks. I’m a bit confused about wether or not we’d of been served puddings if we all chose one or not, seeing as we were told our table was needed! We weren’t once informed of this at booking of when we arrived!

Went for lunch with a friend and my dog. Very friendly member of staff looked after us (Jenny). She was very helpful and efficient. Lovely food and Henry (the cocker spaniel) enjoyed his sausages😃

we visit regularly and enjoy the fact we can take our dog with us, we have had a couple of group family birthdays there but last nights visit was a bad experience. we ordered drinks and waited for the food to be ordered,we both ordered King Prawn Cocktail with advocado, the dish arrived and looked like it had been plonked on the bowl with loads of lettuce leaves on the bottom and no advocado, i called the waitress over and mentioned that there was no advocado plus the bread was a bit soggy and only a small finger nail bit of frozen butter ! She came with the advocado which was slimy and some more bread which obviously had been placed under the grill has it had started to go hard and dollops of butter on top. We didn't wait too long for the Sirloin Steak and separate sauce but when that came the chips were luke warm along with the sauce and i didnt even try the steak as at that point i'd had enough and asked for the manager who was really nice and offered to get us fresh food but the time was nearly 8.20pm !. She kindly said we would not pay for the food but would like to offer us 40% of our next meal, which is what the offer was on last night which really was not a good incentive as the offer was on anyway. I left at this point to go to the ladies and upon my return my husband advised the drinks were not chargeable which i would have been more than happy to pay for, we left with our 1/2 empty bottle of wine as this stage. Last night was a treat on my behalf for my husbands birthday which ruined the whole evening.

Lovely night with great food and great service

A group of six visited during the offer period. Two wrong drinks served, chips cold, peas cold, wrong side served, two fish and chips were inedible. Issues with most meals. The waitress sorted everything for us with no problem and they removed the fish meals from the bill, but it really wasn’t a good experience. We will definitely not be visiting again during an offer period.

The service was very slow, we had to ask for our drinks twice, no one cleared our table so we moved the used plates onto another empty table.

Nipped in at 3 in the afternoon and a table was found for us, we ordered drinks and food and both were lovely. Didn't need to order a dessert as the meal was plenty. Would defo recommend.

Great Sunday lunch. All the food was delicious. I had the sirloin of beef and it was very well cooked. My husband had the Turkey and thoroughly enjoyed it. Side orders of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets made the meal perfect. Service from Dan...

Great place to have a business meeting/catch up. On this occasion we had drinks only, although have visited in the past for food which is always delicious. We also love the fact we can take our dog into the bar area.

Came to celebrate a 85th birthday 3 of the 8 meals had meat/items missing, parsnips were raw/rock hard,couldn't cut or eat them and a separate order of cauliflower cheese also wasn't cooked. Ok it was busy but for what it cost's you would at least...

Brilliant pub. We’ve eaten here a number of times, always enjoying what they have on offer. Super dog friendly also, which is great as we only live about 15 minutes away.

2nd I've done this due it being removed , but service is terrible staff would rather talk at the bar , than do their job , staff rude when asked for a drink pulling faces and looking like I inconvenienced them by asking for a drink , spend 65 quid to be completely ignored by the staff took ten mins to get noticed by staff to be seated even tho week booked , had to ask for the bill 3 times , and not once did a staff member come over to me , even interaction we had , I shouted them or I asked them , no wonder they are on minimum wage , ohhh and the 23 quid stake my wife didn't eat due to 80 percent of it being fat and inedible Don't not eat avoid like the plague rude staff and below par food
