Warm, welcoming and popular pub. We had the lamb's liver dish from the new menu, which was delicious. Followed by sticky toffee pudding, and a dark chocolate Basque cheesecake. Fantastic value menu for the quality of the food, not to mention the first rate service. Highly recommended.

We are moving to the area in the next few months so we visited a few local pubs at the weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed both our meals here, Saturday night we had the homemade pie and hunters chicken both very very nice the staff were friendly and the pub has a lovely cosy atmosphere, the beef roast dinner on Sunday was top notch with loads of flavour and the beef melted in the mouth we will definately be returning and is definitely going to be our regular for our Sunday roast and evenings out for a cosy drink . Would love to see a steak on the menu too!!

Where to start, Crammed in like sardines, a table behind us had to move their table so my wife could sit down. We ordered then 20 mins later, and we got told there was a 30-minute wait because they had just taken on a delivery order, and that took priority. A family that was behind us got there at 3 pm and didn't get food till 5 pm. We had come in order food eaten and left before they even got any food. Now on to the food, The plates are hotter than the food you are served, which is a good thing because you need a plate to warm ur food up. We left 80% of our food and just walked out. Overall, i would have rather gone through bins to get my food than eat here again, absolutely disgusting

We really wanted to love this place and have been on 3 separate occasions. Each time the service has been painfully slow. On one visit it took almost an hour for 3 breakfasts to be made when there was only one other table in. There was no acknowledgment of the wait or an apology when they finally arrived. On our most recent visit it took over 45 minutes for a couple of sides to arrive. The food itself isn’t bad it’s just the painfully slow service and the difficulty in getting hold of anyone to do anything about it. Also there is one highchair for the whole place which isn’t ideal.

Visited for early evening meal, very little choice on menue and was told that pies were not available even though it was pie night?, I ordered Hunter's chicken with salad the chicken was undercooked and the salad consisted of a few green leaves (not lettuce) a few very small pieces of tomatoe and cucumber, my partner ordered scampi and chips, the chips were dry and hard, we weren't asked if the meal was OK while we were eating, the staff seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves I would advise anyone to avoid this place if they wanted a decent meal.

Booked a table for 4 for a lunchtime meal (it took several attempts to book as the person answering phone did not understand how to use the booking technology) We arrived at the arranged time to find no table available for 4 people as the person behind the bar had not checked the days bookings. Fortunately a couple offered to move to a smaller table so that we could be seated. Pre lunch drinks were ordered and out G&T arrived minus ice or slice. When queried, we were informed the ice machine was broken. We were offered a bar snack menu only with a choice consisting of mainly chicken pasta or fish and chips. No desserts or coffee. The service was painfully slow and the whole experience was extremely disappointing. Don't visit at lunchtime if you want a nice meal.

Visited with friends and second time of eating here within the month….was not impressed and wonder if there is a different chef during the day…? Menu options are not always available…lamb kebab meat chewy , chips dry, tzatziki very thick, hunters chicken with seasonal veg were served with stir fry veg….which was not specified…The lady who served us was apologetic and comments passed to kitchen but no discount offered. What a shame as the food here used to be very good unless they were more focused on the steak evening later that day…..? Having said that the pub itself, real ale and the beer garden are very nice…

Just sit anywhere , no menu offered , we had to seek out ours , had to ask for more drinks whilst waiting for our food , Caesar .. freshly cooked chicken , bowl like you’d have for breakfast, salad greens not crisp . Mini fish , batter spongy , … triple cooked chips ?? Dry old tasing but I know they were cooked fresh .. no sauces offered , tartare with fish or ketchup and Mayo with extra chips . beautiful interior , but detail …table next to us not wiped after customers had left , almost 30 mins .. also condiments we did have came from dirty table .

We visited The Bell for lunch on 10th August, having not been for a while. The young chap that served us was polite and friendly and helped us with gluten free options as my wife is Coeliac. We had a couple of drinks and sat in the garden. The meals duly arrived after around 30 to 40 mins and were clearly freshly cooked. The quality of food was superb and actually far better than we had expected from a pub lunch and we were both very pleasantly surprised. Most pubs get nowhere near this standard and we will undoubtedly be visiting more often. When I paid, the barman apologised for the wait to get the food. No apology necessary. To get quality like that takes time and effort and the results were well worth it. 10/10.

I had been to the Bell to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends in February and it was first class. However, today I booked a table for just two and was so disappointed. We ordered two mushroom starters and two Sunday roasts. After 40 mins the starters were served. A long wait but never mind. Then two minutes later the roasts were brought to the table. We obviously couldn’t eat both at same time! The mains were returned to the kitchen. They were brought out later and had obviously been on a hot plate. The plates were hot but the food was cold. We could not eat anything. We returned them again. We were compensated for the starter and main but only after a heated debate. So sorry but we will not be returning The saving grace was that the front of house staff were very apologetic

Breakfast was available on request, but may become part of the package. Food was excellent and freshly cooked. We had a big family meal on one night and the pub coped with, vegetarian, gluten free, teenagers and meat eaters. All freshly cooked and delicious. For dog owners there are miles of walks that start beside the pub, around hay fields. Dogs are welcome in all parts of the pub.

Me alegro haberlo hecho.

I booked what I though would be a typical en suite room for £55 - what I got was a whole apartment! There was a comfortable twin bedroom with adjoining en suite toilet and shower, a kitchen/dining room and a very comfortable and spacious living room. The pub itself is a gem and one of the most friendly I have ever encountered - within minutes of stepping into the bar I found myself chatting with the locals as if i was a regular too. Being a real ale fan I was very impressed with the six beers on offer - I sampled 4 of them and they were all excellent. The food is all hand made on the premises and is definitely not re-heated from frozen as one previous reviewer complained. Try it - you will not be disappointed.

The main menu looked good as well, with speciality steaks and veggie meals as well as other things. My husband also enjoyed the mild - something we don't get much down south. We went for a Christmas lunch menu as a party of 4 following good experiences previously at Sunday lunch. Menu choices were confirmed a week in advance. This time it was very disappointing. We had to wait nearly 30 minutes for the main course to arrive. The few vegetables there were had been cooked to the point of incineration. The fish had a hard yellow crust and the turkey roll defied cutting. The 3 "Tender broccoli" stems were black and crisped whilst Brussels sprouts had the texture of golf balls. Only the cranberry sauce had any taste. We were asked if we would like to wait before service of the second course. We declined as we wished to conclude the meal as soon as possible. However another long wait still ensued and we found out why - the white roulade was still semi frozen! Sadly we do not recommend!

Don't be fooled by the dog friendly tag on the board at the front. With the minimum of at least water for a dog unfortunately there is no sign of. Coupled with sharp flint on the floor means any dog not comfortable. Call me picky but Bank Holiday would see most of the pumps available. Sadly the opposite applies here. Most pumps have a sad glass covering them indicating "that ones off". Could be really nice with a little thought. Better pubs closer that are actually dog friendly & you stand a chance of actually drinking a beer that you want.
