Food was great bar the chips which were abit soggy and had no salt. But could have been the drive home that caused soggy chips.

Very good menu with quality food at a good price they also Taylor dishes to your Dietary needs

This used to be the absolute best chinese, for taste and service, could not fault it and woulnt hesitate to recommend. We haven't used it for a couple of months. Visited this evening, extremely quiet for a Friday evening, and having tasted the food we now understand why. If you have a salt deficiency in your diet, this is the place to visit. Our dinner was completely inedible due to the overwhelming salt taste. Never have we eaten a few forkfuls of Chinese takeaway and had to throw the rest of the meal away. Extremely disappointed

They have an app and the full menu is well laid out and easy to select from. My food was ready and waiting on time for collection. This is still my favourite Chinese takeaway in Belper. The food is never swimming in grease like many and the portions are generous. There is always a pleasant welcome from the staff on the counter

Very sorry to see the steep price hike from this place. We have used them occasionally for many years, the food is good but the same meal for two in Derby is £10 cheaper, pricing is an important selling point on these takeaways.

chicken balls that tasted fishy for £7.50!! including sweet and SOUR sauce that almost made me sick, not surprised the sauce is given out for free as it's absolutely vile and needs getting rid of

Ordered set meal for two to takeaway for £29. Awful food. The chicken (I think) dish was totally inedible. The beef dish pretty much just tasted like beef in bisto gravy. Wouldn't even serve the leftovers to my dog. Very rarely eat takeaways or eat out. Birthday treat straight in the bin. Ate very little of it and just hope we're both okay

We’ve not been to Oriental Villa for about 8 months due to a sad decline in their standard of food and poor quality ingredients . Today we thought we’d give it a try however sadly nothing had improved the quality of the chicken ( if that’s what it is) was incredibly poor. I’ve never eaten anything in my life like this jello foul tasting substance . I dare not allow my imagination to drift as I already feel queasy. The curry sauce was very watery with limited other ingredients clearly counted out. The sweet & sour chicken balls were also clearly bought in and reheated as the chicken in these was proper chicken meat . The Owners should sample the other local Chinese house curry’s to see how to present and improve their food. We won’t be going back here untill there’s a substantial improvement !

Really enjoyed the food. All the dishes were really tasty, and it was ready in good time from ordering to take away.

I visited this restaurant and after placing my order for the food (which was nice compliments to the chef) I was disturbed by this lady with short dark hair who I’m assuming is the owner screaming and shouting at the young staff on the shop floor they must’ve only been about 16/17. Firstly this is highly unprofessional not to mention uncomfortable for customers. Secondly, it makes it really hard to support a business that treats lower waged staff like peasants whilst the greedy bosses at the top keep the profits. They say support local but unfortunately if this is what supporting local means I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Really pleased with service and food, first time ordering from this takeaway. Very helpful staff on front desk. Order was ready in no time! Food was delicious, had very generous servings. Will definitely be returning to this takeaway!

I ordered sirloin steak in a whisky/ barbecue sauce it was disgusting the sauce was bland and tasted like a thick soy sauce definitely no whisky in it anyway it went in the bin won't be going back .

If someone says the food there is not tasty, then they must have lost their taste from Covid or something. Our family thinks that this is the best Chinese takeaway we've ever had. The food is ALWAYS fresh and hot. We drive 30 minutes there and back once a week for awesome meals from Oriental Villa. Me only small complaints are that the prices have gone up a little but that's expected in this recent age. And, the shrimp dishes always have shells in them. But it's still worth the faff! We highly recommend it my duck!

Tried some others in the 20 years we’ve lived here, nothing beats the lovely food from the Oriental Villa, today I had the best large springroll with curry sauce, very tasty, food arrived on time and thoroughly cooked,

Absolutely disgusting. The food was inedible and felt like it was out of date ingredients. The sauces, despite ordering very different dishes, tasted like about 5 days of the bottom of the wok after cooking 100’s of dishes. We never ever complain but felt we needed to. Called up and asked for a refund and eventually got offered a 25% discount to buy again from them!! Why on earth would We want to subject ourselves again to such awful food!! Belper deserves better than this dreadful restaurant… shame on you Oriental Villa. Avoid at all costs.

Excellent food, tasty, quick and service to match

Ordered here for the last 10, years as of late the dishes served here have gone, down hill had wandering dragon the preparation of the dish was very poor, tasted poor, 99% of the dish went straight in the bin, the pork in it was fatty and just slaps of meat not chopped fine like it should be, and my wife's rice was cold, the chips were dry and cold,and looked like they was soaked in oil they have lost my family's custom, we won't ever, be going there again

Wow had an awesome experience from this place today. Drove past at 6.30pm and the shop was busy inside. Delivery driver was crossing the road with multiple bags of food. So that saying something. Checked online. 5 star rating. This place is well neat. Got food delivered. Been told about their delivery driver from work colleagues he's a nice guy and always friendly and since the cost of food has gone up he deliberately charges a few quid less than the actual bill. That's nice. But we tipped him because we were told this in advance the driver will charge you less from everyone at work. So who pays for the short cash then???? Bet the driver stays quiet and contributes from his own pocket. I bet that 100% Wow. Food was amazing and arrived onetime. Proffessional manner and yes we got the food and we got it delivered by that driver that belper talks about. We had Jill yuen chips. Beef curry and chicken curry. Chicken and veg chow mein and egg fried rice. Bloody nice. Everyone at work talks about their regular driver. He is sooooo sweeeeet. Wish all places have a delivery driver like theirs. Belper is lucky to have him here. Hope everyone's nice to him. Their front of house staff are nice too. Phone service was excellent and to be honest the staff from the kitchen to the road make this place great. Anyone know his name? Asian dude about mid 30s.

One of the nicest Chinese takeaways in belper. Very tasty and quick delivery

1st meal that we've had from here in 3 years and now I know why. I had Wandering Dragon, which is a mix of vegetables, meat and prawns in a black bean sauce, it wasn't sauce, it was so thin, it was like water. There was 3 pieces of pork, 2 of chicken and 1 small prawn and loads of veg. My wife had beef in black bean sauce, which again was like water. Afraid I won't be calling on this establishment again, sorry, but I have to tell it as it is.

One if the nicest Chinese meals I've had for a long time.....I wish I live closer so I can eat from here more often.

Though we would try this for a change from the river garden. Big mistake dry food. The sweet and sour source was sickly and over powering. Called up to give feedback to be told this is how we cook! 🙄

I’ve been going to this takeaway for a long while now, but I must say since recently going, the food has not been quite the same…and now I know why. My partners chicken curry has had to come out the other end with chicken food poisoning. Not very happy about this, I expect better and for the people there to actually know how to cook food all the way through. Maybe check the chickens actually cooked by probing, or cutting a piece to check its not pink! Not very happy Oriental Villa, quite disappointed!

ordered beef chow main arrived the beef was slimey,greasey tasted disgusting could not eat as it made me feel sick .ranfgthem and spoke to a young lad who was really nice was asked if wanted another meal said no as waited 1 1/2 hours for the meal he went to speak to some one else said that food hadnt been changed in cooking wasnt offered a refund at all will not be ordering again. do not order the chow main

We usually order from the rice bowl, but wanted to see if this establishment would be better, sadly it wasn't. Chicken chow mein very bland, prawn toast, tastless. Spicey chips ok, but not a patch on rice bowl. Positive - arrived dead on the time the website quoted. Friendly driver. So great service but no so great food.

We had a takeaway from here Friday 6th February and was so disappointed we spent £40.00 and 2 of my work colleagues couldn’t eat there’s . The chicken was raw and the chow mein dishes were swimming in grease .never again will we use this place

This was my regular takeaway, has something changed, just ordered the special curry and it is so watery, not as much sauce and did not enjoy, ended up in the bin, waste of money, looks like I will need to find alternative if this is the new standards.

Ordered from here for home delivery came very quickly then the delivery driver over charged us by £5.00 so rung the restaurant and made a complaint and they refunded me the money. Then opened the food and the curry sauce was like water and horrible it had been watered down wasn't happy at all also the meat in my curry was like rubber, I called them again and the lady said that's how the Currys are. I'm not happy and will never go back there again. Please make sure you check your change if paying more than your meal is..

1st time I've had take away from here. Fast service & staff very friendly. Food was delicious, chips lovely & tasty, the veg spring roll were huge, also the chicken was very tender. Will use again thank you.

Ordered food at 5pm from the new app and it said that my order had been confirmed so we waited.two hours later there was no food so we rang up and just asked why it was taking so long, we told them our address and name and they said it would be another 10-15 minutes so we waited. Another hour goes by and we ring them up and say that we want the food in the next 15 minutes or they can just cancel it (we payed by cash as the app wouldn’t even let us pay by card). We then get a phone call from the restaurant telling us that apparently our order had never even been placed and that there was no evidence that we had ordered any food even though on two occasions we confirmed our orders with someone over the phone so clearly someone at the restaurant was lying. Basically the app is faulty and needs looking at and somebody needs to be fired because not only where they lying but they where incredibly rude about it.

Very poor. Ordered and and was told 1-1/5 hours . After 2 hours rang to see where it was and was told it was another 1.5 hours. Cancelled and ordered with a reliable Chinese. Really poor service

Used to be my favourite Chinese!! Chips looked and tasted like they had been refried multiple times!! Ordered pecking spare ribs, you expect to have fat on ribs but not just complete fat!! The oriental special chop suey 1 prawn in it!! Chat sui pork although alot of most grizzle!! I called to say we didnt really like it asked for it to be changed or refund refused both! I argued for about 10 min!! Rhey cut me off. Called back and they agreed to refund half I gave them the food back! Wont be going back!!

I have always passed this takeaway because of the outside appearance. Needs cleaning up. However, I did use it the other night and was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of the food. Good size portions too. I would use it again.

Ordered a takeaway last night, usually the food is lovely from here, it’s my regular takeaway restaurant choice. Ordered the satay chicken, chicken chow mein, Jill yuen chips and prawn crackers. Had to chuck away the satay chicken, the pieces of chicken still had the skin on to the point where you could see the bumps on the skin from where the feather were plucked, very dark meat very poor quality. Made me feel sick. Chicken chow mein was fine, and the rest of the order was fine but to be honest the state of the satay chicken has put me off ordering from here again, which is a shame because the food used to be lovely.

Really enjoyed all of our food tonight. The portions were good sized and the meats really tasty. Not too dry or salty like some we’ve had before. Food for 6 of us at a good price and speedy delivery. Thanks we’ll be ordering again.

Should be £1 if within 3 mile radius. My property is 2.4 miles from site but they insist that it is not within 3mile radius so I have to pay double delivery charge. Not happy. will no longer use tis takeaway.

Collected order - got home. Two items completely the wrong dish and one item completely missing.Telephoned them to point this out and to ask them to rectify the mistakes.The young woman on the phone refused to do so and actually started shouting at me. It actually felt quite threatening.The food (that we had) was ok enough in fairness but nothing out of the ordinary. It was also £21 for two meals with rice (including the one that was missing!!) which is pretty expensive for average food.

....Yes another takeaway from the Oriental Villa....(and we've had a few over the years).... Never had a bad meal yet. The quality of the food is very good, always hot and the portions are excellent. There is an extensive menu and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. Have also used the delivery service, which again, never had any problems and the food is always delivered hot.......

Visiting the area and again and returned for another Friday night takeaway . Tried the sirloin steak with black pepper from the specials section. It was one of the nicest takeaway meals I have had and I don’t say that lightly!

I've been going to the villa for over 20 years and through various owners. Massive menu to choose from and has good veggie options. Everything is cooked to order and you can see them cook it. Never had any bad food from there and the order has always been correct.

Never had a bad meal from here yet...you order you collect the staff are friendly and the food is good....

Chicken curry arrived and contained pork and prawns. Vegetarian spring roll contained chicken. No apology from staff. Be careful if you have any allergies or intolerances.

Used oriental villa for years but have never like the boiled chicken that comes in the meals, it just doesn’t taste real. Beef in black pepper sauce every time.

Bueno, yo normalmente ir al restaurante jardín río en Belper porque siempre estoy contento con la comida, pero esta vez decidimos probar la villa oriental porque mi hija dice que ella tenía un par de comidas. Así que pedí una comida para llevar y fuimos por la carne satay, pero preguntó si podía tener algún extra de cebolla. No bear bien cuando llegué y me cobraron por la cebolla! Y cuando volví a degustar, era repugnante. La carne, si eso es lo que parecía que era de un bin. Creo que de un trozo de carne de etiqueta final que ha sido en el horno por 6 horas y te dan una idea. Debe haber tenido unos 5 cucharadas de sal, y sin sabor de satay. Lo peor que he tenido para llevar. Evitar. No estoy promoviendo el jardín del río, pero creo que en el futuro voy a restringirnos a lo que no es de buena calidad y buena comida.

We order from this place regularly and have never had any kind of problem in spite of the negative reviews I've read on here.The food is super tasty and always arrives in super quick time.Can't fault them!

I ordered from here last week and the delivery time was ok and the price was reasonable. But the next few days after that I was very ill! I have not eaten anything from anywhere else that day therefore is hat to be the food from here. I will never be going back and I strongly recommend you don't as well.

So let down with our meal tonight. Mainly the wrong Duck dish was delivered despite the number and suffix being repeated when it was ordered. It's the only duck dish with a suffix!Prawn wantons were tough and chewy, either old or over - cooked. Spare ribs were tough as old leather. Will not be ordering again

I had previously used this take away for years. After ordering and totting up how much it should cost I was surprised when they gave me a different price. It clearly states on there menu within 3 miles it's a £1 charge. Knowing I am within that 3 miles I questioned why they had charged a different rate. They had come to the decision that after a set of traffic lights it was over 3 miles. Clearly this is false advertising. It's a shame as it is a good take away but out of principal I will not order from there again. You can't advertise one thing and then sneak in a different charge.

We ordered our food for delivery at 7pm, at 8:40pm we called to ask where our dinner was, we were told "it's being packed in the kitchen now and will be with you in 10-15 minutes".50 minutes later I drove down to complain in person, and was met with a largely disinterested and unprofessional grunt "what? Do you want your money back?".The chef hadn't even started cooking our meal!!!!Incompetence, unprofessionalism and dishonesty.The food here is ok.... If you get it!!!We didn't and won't be going back as a result!! Appalling service failure, and after reading TA it's clear that my misfortunate episode is not an isolated incident.

Not a huge fan of Chinese food and this place is average at best , was a great takeaway 10 years ago but today just does not inspire me

Called here after a few days of hospital visiting and couldn't be bothered to cook. Really impressed. We had sweet and sour chicken, crispy shredded chilli beef, chicken satay skewers and a portion of plain noodles, which was about £18. The portions are huge! Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was really quick and friendly, even managed to get our noodles right. I'd seen a couple of negative reviews in the past so had never eaten here, but I'll be going back pretty often now. Very reasonable prices, great service and food, and large portions...what's not to love?!

The food here is very tasty. However I do feel as of the special chow mein is a little over-priced. But me and my girlfriend keep eating here so it isn't that bad!

Although this place has had a couple of bad reviews, it was recommended to us by a 'local' and we have now been a few times and have no complaints. We have found the service is quick, the food tasty and freshly cooked. You can even see into the kitchen area. This takeaway has always been busy when we have been in and is reasonably priced.

We thought we should write a review on this takeaway as we felt the two previous reviews are so little unfair. The food here is good,tasty and fresh. As with all Chinese takeaways the service is quick. The price seems to be fair also. Generally a good take away.

The worst £23.60 I have ever spent the rice hard and after one mouth full and no taste went I the bin the rest was salty and not worth the money I will never go there again and do my own and would never tell anyone to go there
