Very poor food. Took over 2 hours to deliver and food was cold. Went straight in the bin as was inedible. Would avoid this place.

Had several meals since moving to Swanwick always good food

After 10 years of ordering from here it's time to find another takeaway. Waiting 1 hour 40 minutes is just not good enough. Ever since Food Hub have took over the ordering it's gone seriously down hill. Very disappointing.

This was our first order from here for about five years, after a dodgy meal and various bad reviews back then, but after seeing that the reviews were much better these days, we decided to risk it! Everything was perfect - the Special Chow Mein was every bit as tasty as it used to be, and all the sides too. Very friendly service at the desk, and while I was in the shop it was clear that they were busy with customers and phonecalls. I have great faith in a food establishment that is busy! We'll definitely be back now that we've taken that first step. Thank you!

We always get good service from this take away. The food is good and the delivery is efficient and on time. The food is always hot when delivered and the pancake rolls are particularly tasty. Had sweet and sour Cantonese style last time and it was particularly tasty, Good portions as well.

Shambles of a place, food terrible quality, i had to rind 26 times just to get an answer of where my food was. They wouldnt even refund me my money, ill never order from here again!!

I use this Chinese on a bi-monthly basis. Last night I purchased 2 meals, one being a chicken curry. Within 2 hours of eating the meal I was over the toilet being sick. Not sure why, as I always get a chicken curry but last night's meal was not good. With it being chicken I wanted to raise this issue.

Only went there once and had special chow mein for me and the wife. Wife tried it but did not finish and the rest went on the bin. Had a lot better.

Not the best special Chou mein I have ever had and the large pancake roll was soggy. Would I go back? No.

Having previously enjoyed food from here we were looking forward to it. Food arrived late about 25 minutes after expected. It was barely warm. Spring roll was so wet and soggy it stuck to the bag and was inedible. Salt and chilli chips were soggy and had no flavour of salt or chilli. Same with the salt and chilli ribs. Prawn toast wasn’t crispy. Mushroom curry was ok but cold. Hugely disappointed and won’t use again.

We have used Oriental Chef since 1993 and have seen a lot of changes. Our last two takeaways have been absolutely fantastic - fresh, hot and delicious. Think they must have a new chef because it went downhill for a while but is now as good as it's ever been. We'll be returning to our weekly takeaways.

Set up for collect and was ready within 30 mins and the service was great but once we started eating there was a horrible taste of soap in the chow mein and near tasteless food, the chips and chicken balls were good but the rice had an odd texture. Very disappointed with the food. We used to order very frequently from the takeaway a few years back but it seems to have gone downhill. Put in a large order of food for a party and all were disappointed. Will not be ordering again.

We were having a short break in Pentrich, Derbyshire. After browsing the brochures in our holiday let for a Chinese takeaway, we selected the Oriental Chef in Swanwick, the nearest town. Note that on-street parking is a bit tight. We arrived 10 minutes before opening time, but it was raining and the nice lady who served us opened up and let us in. After placing our order, it was ready very quickly and we took the meal back to our holiday let. It was very good indeed- properly cooked and very tasty. I can therefore recommend the Oriental Chef for quality and friendly service and a very large menu.

Excellent food. Quickly processed after ordering at counter. Good value. Parking somewhat limited but you can order online or via phone to shorten wait.

Always used this establishment however after tonight I certainly won't be again. Ordered food at 6 told 1 - 1 and a quarter hrs. After waiting till 7.40 I rang back to be told another 25 minutes!!! 40 minutes later still no food I rang again and this time spoke to a manager who blatantly lied to me and said the girl was new and my food was on the way. It eventually arrived 10 minutes short of 3 hrs and then wasn't overly warm either. Disgusting and I will not be spending my money here AGAIN !!!!

absolutely terrible, the food was cold, and arrived at least 20 minutes late the food was lacking flavour and i asked for no veg to be put into the chow mein however upon arrival there was tonnes of veg in the chow mein overall just really dissapointed at the sheer lack of effort put into the meal

my family have been ordering from here weekly since February since the loss of a loved one its nice to get together and have a treat in all that time we have never had a bad meal ,once the order wasn't quite what we ordered with 2 dishes being slightly different but we didn't complain it was still nice nice Its always been hot and delivered in the time frame given Absolutely beautiful authentic cuisine

Walked in off the street, ordered and received a delicious takeaway 10 minutes later. Large portions, hot and fresh. The Chop Kam Chow Mein was especially good. Will return.

If I had flown to China to get the food I would have still been back before my order was ready from here. Food was lovely, just got to wait for them to grow the veg before serving it you.

Ordered for collection via the online service offered, very user friendly and great system - so much better than attempting to get through their busy phone line. Food did NOT disappoint one bit, hot and sour soup was outstanding along with the salt & chilli chicken and crispy beef (long time favourite dishes from this particular takeaway). Generous portion sizes and no issue with the price of dishes. I feel the negative reviews reflect the off days that the business have (god forbid they don’t get it 100% all the time, anyone would think they are only human). I will continue to support this fantastic establishment, keep up the great work!

If I had read that the ownership had changed since I moved out of swanwick. I wouldn't have ordered from here as the bar WAS such a high standard. Food quality has dropped unfortunately. The food came on time and was still hot. However my favourite dishes I was so looking forward to ended up letting me down. Not the worse food dont let 1 stars make out its horrendous because it's not just so many people loved this place for its quality and they like myself now feel let down.

This is our local Chinese that we have used for years, a few years ago I was diagnosed as gluten free. My favourite dish being sweet and sour chicken hong long style, they have been very helpful and made the chicken without batter. Well today we decided we fancied a chinese and placed the order as usual, when it arrived I was a little surprised as mine came made in batter, even though they had written gluten free on the box, after a phone call the girl on reception informed us they are now making gluten free batter from cornflour, WOW thank you, this allows me to enjoy the dish as it should be. This may seem like an over reaction to some but being gluten free changes your whole outlook on eating in restaurants and takeaway’s. The rest of the meal was lovely and enjoyed by everyone. THANKS again we will be back.

very good take away, get plenty and it is nice food. We collect it, and it is always ready. Sometimes hard to get through on phone, as it gets very busy. Free prawn crackers and coke over a certain spend, which is nice touch.

This Chinese has gone down since the new owners took over. I have experienced waiting to be served for 15 minutes even when I shouted for assistance, also waiting between 30 and 45 minutes for food that used to take the old owners between 5 and 10 minutes. Quite frankly this is disappointing as that has been my local Chinese for many years now and the nearest Chinese that is as good as it used to be is in loscoe. Also the delivery need to learn how to drive and how to park. They shouldn't be parking on the pavements.
