Beautiful take out, quick, friendly and professional service

My daughter loved the chicken balls and rice but pricey for kids but it's all about the atmosphere so very happy.

this was a lovely meal for me and my partner to endulge in after a long monday. the environment was really welcoming and lovely to have a nice relaxed meal. the staff were lovely and really made the experience worth while. the prawn crackers were absolutely incredible and so was the whole meal. really worth going i definately recommend.

Had a takeaway tonight (Wed) not been great last couple of times but use to be really good so you expect it improve as use to be the go too. Well had enough now and won’t use this place anymore. Tonight my order was inedible chips where so salty I would of needed to see a doctor, the chow mein was salty and hardly any chicken and just tasted of grease, the salt and pepper chicken was awful, disintegrated when biting into it, was just hard and unable to eat it. This after waiting over an hour, Really disappointed, wouldn’t use again now.

Food was tasty hot and and plenty of it service was excellent made to feel welcome from entering to leaving, yes it could do with a lick of paint and new furniture and the car park definitely needs some work but we went for the food and wasn’t disappointed we will be returning the 2 waitress which served us were polite and attentive we’re just sorry we couldn’t finish all the food we over did it on the starters overall good value for money at £23 per head for all you can eat I don’t think the bad reviews reflect our experience at all so give it a go you won’t be disappointed.

Just awful service rude waitresses, challenging to the point of antagonistic, the food was a 2/10 at best. Two of our party did not want the all you can eat option, and were accused of planning to eat everyone else’s!! Absolutely ridiculous and offensive. We would NEVER return and for the record no Asian staff in site just extremely rude young women!!!

normally a big fan of rice bowl and they tend to be my first choice for east asian takeaway, but tonight was a really bad performance when it came to food quality. food was soggy, too salty, and the salt and pepper chicken had no chicken in it whatsoever, it was literally just bits of batter. not sure if theres been a change in kitchen staff but it needs reverting. delivery was prompt.

Place gone downhill. The customer service is insanely bad. I don't normally write reviews but seriously do not bother going here. Mistakes are not the end of the world and I wouldn't normally mind but when they are delt with so poorly and rudely then I feel should warn others not to spend your money here. The food is actually decent. I'd suggest getting it as a take away so you don't have to deal with the incompetent waitresses but on reading other reviews sounds like they mess up doing take away orders too somehow and equally give zero f*ks then. Its piss poor customer service.

The food was really nice however The service was nothing shy of Terrible. My whole group was given the wrong menus and were then charged triple the price for a serving half the size of a usual. When we confronted the staff about this they couldn’t even be bothered to apologise!

I never write reviews but after a trying experience wherein which we were ‘served’ by 3 vacuous girls who left us feeling adrift in a sea of incompetence from the moment we ordered tried to charge us £50 over the actual cost of our food I would highly recommend you opt to eat elsewhere

Rice bowl, more like rice grain. Upon returning to the rice bowl after a long two years I was very excited as I'd always thoroughly enjoyed the food and pleasent atmosphere. It is hard to articulate the utter disappointment of the abysmal state in which the rice bowl has become, everything from the food portions to the service was lacking. After ordering the food two dishes had been forgotten and had to be requested again, which were served with an I don't care attitude. when the bill arrived we had been charged with four all you can eat dinners when each member of our group had only had one dish and one side, when asked to correct this error we were told we'd ordered from the wrong menus when they were the only menus that had been provided. We then got charged as if we'd had full sized portions when in reality because we'd been served all you can eat portions they were tiny. The three children that served us didn't seem to care enough to call over an adult to rectify the errors made. So an all round sad dinning experience to say im disappointed would be an understatement. I don't blame the children waiters as they clearly didn't know any better but I would strongly suggest a better member of staff for front of house, and while you're at is some music would have lessoned the already depressing experience. I can not stress enough to anybody reading this that five minutes down the road there's a beautiful restaurant called tom yum miles better save yourself the disappointment and go there.

We visited in October 2023 from Colorado, USA…hands down this was the most incredible Asian food we’ve had in our life. We got the appetizer platter with a little of everything and the lo mein, everything was simply delicious. The staff was great and friendly to us. I hope we get to come back one day.

Best Chinese restaurant for piping hot meals, served by polite and friendly staff.

I got a delivery from here and it was pretty much on time only a couple of minutes delay which is fine the food is really good not to greasy

Great food, Particularly the BBQ spare ribs and curry with with curry leaves. Service is always with a smile. You may have a problem parking so get there early.

Takeaway...... ordered at 1800 for 1945 pick up, they cook it at their convenience and store it out front in bags. We both found the meal disgusting and greasy having sat around. Won't be going back.

Love the rice bowl! Quality of food is spot on, it can seem a bit pricey but it’s worth it for thr all you can eat buffet and the staff were very attentive. They made my partners day on his birthday!

Great little place had takeaway and the team of young ladies that served us were great. Sophia helped us pick and was very kind to our daughter. Very tasty food very hot and great sized portions we saved some for later!

Corrected them multiple times whilest ordering because the employee kept saying the wrong dish. Asked her to read it back to me and had to correct her AGAIN. Shockingly... We received the wrong order. Called them back and the lady on the phone said we wasn't clear enough and there's nothing she could do. Not even an apology. In fact, we got blamed for ordering the wrong item. Eventually agreed to send the correct order but we would not be a priority and we'll be waiting over an hour. Shocking customer service. Won't be returning.

Yet again a massive disappointment - this business is way behind the times with food descriptions, allergies and intolerances. ‘Salt and pepper chips’ are covered with wheat flour. Why? And why is this not mentioned on the menu. If you have a food allergy, be very aware. I’ve had problems in the past as they don’t even use gluten free soy sauce which is a joke when it’s freely available in all supermarkets. Massively backward business. Avoid.

Ordered Chinese was read back correctly food luke warm sent 2 crispy chicken instead of salt and pepper chips they then sent a driver to collect crispy chicken and half an hour later after everyone had finished eating send some (looked like 4x cooked chips) that were uneatable...never again !

Just shocking. Do not bother going. Grease ping food. Just had the starters and so poor. Did not have out mains as left. Just paid for our drinks. Toilets shocking . The place is a mess, I would say dirty and not worth paying money to visit

The chicken in black bean sauce was not cooked and looked like plastic. The chips were rock hard and no prawn crackers.

Super takeaway Wish they’d get timings right when ordering as it’s always 15-30 mins wait from the time they say. It’s always really busy which tells its own story!

Ordered online. Clearly stated 75 minutes delivery time. nearly 2 hours later and nothing arrived. A phone called was greeted with nonchalance, no explanation and no indication of when we might receive our food. Needless to say, order cancelled and one fewer customer on their books.

The best Chinese around! Great variety of dishes to choose from and they all so good!! Very friendly and polity staff who works really well together! If you look for great and affordable place to eat, you should give it a try and I’m sure you’ll love it.

We went recently for the first time. Lovely food. The service from the waitress was outstanding.

Have ordered twice from here for delivery...whilst the food is nice....I have waited over 3hrs to be delivered. First time was new years eve which I guess is expected...ordered at 1900..delivered at 2310....today ordered at 1848 delivered at 2102.....far too long for deliveries.

We waited over 3 hours for this order. What a joke!. Order elsewhere!. Service is absolutely shocking. We had to ring 3 times and it was still another hour later.

We had the all you can eat menu. But it's so much better than those buffet all you can eat places, because you can actually order exactly what you want from the menu. We did the maths and it's a bargain too. Good, tasty food. Great staff. A good place to catch up with friends and eat yourself silly.

Waited 4 hours for the food to be delivered. Called to chase up and was told they are behind by 40mins. 40 minutes is an understatement...

Ordered from here Saturday eve. Food was late and stone cold and warmed up tasted awful. Went in the bin. Offered 10% discount off next order which I don’t find acceptable. There won’t be any more orders. A regular customer lost.

My favourite date night place in Belper. Everything was absolutely delicious - starters, mains and drinks. On top of that great service and kind staff. We'll be back!

The food was very good, very tasty and fresh, we enjoyed the flavours.However, the kitchen management was atrocious. We requested the all you can eat option but unfortunately it's "all you can be bothered to eat" because the wait between courses was abysmal.The two young girls acting front of house did an excellent job, checking on us regularly and I felt sorry for them for constantly having to apologise for the wait. Despite all the complaints (even though only half the tables were full) they managed to hold their polite demeanour. The restaurant needs to either concentrate on their takeaway or the restaurant because they haven't the staff to operate both.Shame, it used to be really excellent.

Food was great, staff are friendly, but the meals took far too long to come out. Three party tables, two had finished mains before the third table got theirs. Probably better when there are less people.

Having grown up lived in the far east for 50 years and travelled to Hongkong, China Singapore, Thailand n Indonesia I can safely and honestly say that the food at rice bowl is mediocre at best. They served a chicken ball of sorts and passed it off as crispy tofu in thai sweet chilli. When I confronted a Chinese member of staff she insisted it was tofu until I informed her I grew up in S E Asia and knew what real tofu looked and tasted like. She then said it was not tofu but something made of soya. Even that wasn't true.I would never ever eat or recommend this restaurant because you may not get what you ordered in the first place. My husband doesn't feel well today and it wad his birthday dinner.

Most definitely the best Chinese food that we've had for years. Delicious dishes made with fresh vegetables. loved it.

Sub standard chinese food and served something else instead of crispy tofu. When confronted the chinese staff member insisted it was tofu until i informed her i had grown up in the far east n travelled and eaten in Singapore, Hong Kong and China and I knew what real tofu looked and tasted like. She then apologised and said it was not tofu but made of soya. Liars and deceivers. If I was a vegetarian or vegan they would have been in real trouble. Much better taste and value was food at Lotus Lounge Central Road.

Booked a table , was told to be shoved at a seat in the corner . Got our food pretty quickly however when we were still eating we got asked if we had finished and asked if we wanted to take the rest home before we had even finished drinks they were giving us the bill and pretty much kicking us out the door when the restaurant wasn't even busy .

very helpful, just ask which dishes can be provided gluten free (not clear on menu). very high quality food, far above average. We have eaten in the restaurant in the past, but take-away yesterday; Simple to order gluten free by phone, though the website would have sufficed if we did not need gluten free. Ready for collection on time. Easy covid-safe. We will return. Only niggle - unwilling to provide an extra spring roll & one extra satay kebab (willing to pay extra of course) to add to the sharing platter for two (3rd & 4th people did not want the full starters, most items on this not gluten-free). Gluten-free duck pancake would be nice to offer if possible. Family celebration, anniverversary we celebrated the original event by dining in a Chinese restaurant (in another part of the country where we were living then). The quality of the food in this take-away made it truly special too. (we preferred to a take-away re covid)

I've been many times and tonight we paid for 3 all you can eat. After 1 hour 20 minutes we was asked if we could leave as there was other people coming in 5 mins that need our table. We hadn't even decided if we wanted a pudding and still had drinks to drink. We was so shocked. Left some of our drinks and left. We will not be returning ever!!!!!

Disappointed with our first order, I was told there would be a charge of £7.50 to deliver to Denby from Belper ! So I collected it. I arrived with a couple of minutes to spare to find a whole table full of takeaway food, ready to be collected in insulated bags, ours was one of them! The food was tasty, however the rice, chips and sweet and sour were cold. Unfortunately we don't have a microwave. Don't think we will return. DISAPPOINTING...

Exceptional food, quite simply the best in the area. Have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and while it’s a slightly odd experience (for reasons I can’t really put my finger on), the quality of the food can’t be questioned. The takeaway food is also exceptional, and in particular, the satay skewers are to die for - just wish they did lamb!!Can’t recommend this place enough and is certainly right up there when it comes to the quality of Chinese snap I’ve eaten (and I’ve had a lot of it).

First time I’ve used The Rice Bowl Belper and will be the last ! Prawn toast wasn’t cooked properly & Duck over cooked very disappointed

We have used The Rice Bowl twice now. The range of takeaway dishes is amazing which is what attracted us to try them but doubt we'll try again. Both times the food has taken just over 2 1/2 hours to come. The first time was Christmas Eve which was understandable but last night was just as bad. My husband even tried to call in on his way home from work to order and wait for the food but was told even doing it that way he'd have to order then go back after 1 1/2 hours!! There is a time tracker on their website that tells you how your order is processing but it is a waste of time as both times the countdown has finished way before the food actually came!

This Chinese restaurant/ takeaway in belper for a long time , we go to the restaurant and take away regularly, since the lockdown, we only order takeaway but notice the quality keep dropping, food greasy , salty and sent wrong dishes. Not sure have they change the chef or what but no more again for us anymore

We called to place an order,at 17:37, checked they could deliver to us, they said they could however not until 19:15, I placed an order which was around £45, they then charged me a delivery fee making it £49. We waited and waited 19:15 came and went, I called to enquire where our delivery was at 19:37, the receptionist stated they had fallen behind in the orders...bearing in mind there isn't a restaurant during these times and its only delivery or takeaway,she said the driver had left 5 minutes ago give it another 15 minutes, no offer of a refund or apology, order eventually came at 20:10 nearly an hour late, still no apology, a very disappointing meal, very expensive, noodles not noodles but chopped up bits, no cashews in the chicken and cashews. Wont be using again, a very disappointing family experience.

Food was lush and lots of it. We couldn't manage it all. Staff were lovely and attentive. The price was really good. The only criticism is I think it is looking tired, and could do with a refurb. But that being said I wouldnt let it stop me from going back. Although think it would others.

Just moved to Belper so ordered from here as our new neighbours said it's the best in the area (we live just 2 mins away). It was a particularly busy night so had to wait about an hour in total, but the food was lovely. The chicken curry is hotter and spicier than I expected, but other than that I got exactly what I needed at the end of a busy moving day.

Terrible service and price! Got charged 26 pounds for rice chips and prawn toast! When rang to confront them was told I’d been over charged by nearly 10 pounds only refunded me £3 absolutely discusting will never order from them again!!!!

A little disappointed with the house menu. It is quite limited when you have seen the takeaway menu. However, the food was good. I was impressed with the young people serving, they were very polite and helpful. However, the decor seemed a little sparse.

This was the first time we had been to the Rice Bowl and now will be a regular visit. From entering the restaurant you could see they took the current crises seriously, the place was clean, well laid out in distancing, plentty of sanitizers etc,staff were very welcoming, friendly and explained all the dishes and menu. The food was certainly the best we had tried in a long tme in chinese/thai, it was well flavoured, hot and there was so much choice, even the plates were warmed which is always a good sign. The waiting staff were very professional, helpful and always there if you needed them, 5*

Excellent yet again, we came for an eat out for half price dine deal, all tables appeared to be staggered dining times and they were all full. The 2 young waitresses and the young waiter were faultless, so attentive, pleasant, polite, checking that our order had been taken and the food was just too much. Excellent quality, superb starter platter, duck, and that age old problem of eyes bigger than your belly but that’s our fault, we couldn’t manage all of the mains.

We are regulars here an the food is always good..however we came last week and it was so hot inside we left before ordering mains! Buffet was lovely but with no air con or even open windows we just wanted to leave.staff were brill an very friendly..service was slow due to being busy but that was to be expected.will wait for cooler weather!!

The decor and cleanliness of the place really shocked me. The carpets are sticky and the toilets don’t look as if they’ve been cleaned in a long time.....makes you wonder what the kitchen is like!!!!!

Came here with my partner for a meal tonight. I’ve had numerous takeaways from here before and the food has always been lovely. But going in and having a meal tonight was even better. They do an all you can eat option that is amazing. You can literally order anything off the menu. I said to my partner, ‘I doubt we will be allowed to order the mixed platter’, so we asked the waiter and straight away he said yes, and asked if we would like duck pancakes aswell! Very impressed. I love the fact that they don’t use MSG too. The chips on the platter were amazing (not usually a fan of chips from a Chinese restaurant but these are divine), the satay chicken was also amazing and we also ordered the tamarind prawns which I would recommend. Service was good and we weren’t made to feel like we couldn’t order too much, they will literally let you order as much as you want! (I’m guessing some people take advantage of this but I’m meant to be on slimming world (cheat day) so I didn’t have too much. Will definitely be back!
