Maybe it was a hot day but both the staff members who dealt with us, and I believe one was the owner, had poor customer service skills. Didn't care that their website was down and giving the impression that they had ceased trading. That said the food was certainly value for money and of a decent standard. Just not such a warm welcome.

They have relocated, but me being me I typed it into google maps and it still shows they’re at Derngate which they’re not, they have moved to Wellingborough Road next to Sainsbury’s (it does state on their website. I rang them and told them the situation, they were completely understanding. We were greeted by a friendly server, she was casual and professional and made us feel at ease. We had two cocktails and both were espresso martinis and they were spot on. A minor criticism, we were seated by the window which was fine for both of us, but the table was a quite wobbly. But that didn’t ruin our evening together. The menu had so many good choices, they all sounded so appealing and you can tell it’s made with fresh ingredients. We tried 8 of the main dishes out of 14 to chose from, one word for all of them: Fautless. We tried the two of the desserts as well and what I can say they hit it out of the park. We’ve tried plenty of churros in our life and they were top notch. The waitress who was serving us (big shout out to her for amazing service, lady with big earring and upper lip piercing) she checked back on our main food which is a bug bear of mine. Towards the end of the evening, the music did get a bit loud, I suppose the evening was turning to night, but that didn’t bother us as our meal was coming to the end. The decor is a mix of everything, but not a select style as such but it’s got a nice ambience and friendly vibe. Song choices were good too. I can’t wait to come back.

Bought 4 cobs 3 , Bacon sausage and egg and 1 Egg cob £6:20 each for the what they call full house and £5 for an egg cob, tasteless on the smallest cob/ muffin you can imagine, all the eggs burst making it impossible to eat without covering yourself. 4 cobs £24 daylight robbery. Will not return

My wife and I, both of us in our late sixties, were driving back from Milton Keynes and decided to pop into Northampton to wander around the shops. We were getting a bit peckish, so not knowing the town we began to look for somewhere to eat, and happened across this fish bar. There were a lot of people sitting inside, and a queue for take-out (nothing advertises a place better than this scenario), so we decided that this was the place for our lunch. We got a table straight away and sat down to look at the menu. We noticed that they did a seniors’ special (fish, chips, mushy peas, bread & butter and a hot drink for £10.75 each), so we plumped for that. It took a while for someone to serve us at the table, but we weren’t in a rush so it wasn’t a problem. Now we had already been told that there was around a fifteen minute wait for food, so we were well aware of that. It appears that this is not the normal situation, but there was some problem that was unusual to the running of the establishment (they tried to explain it to us, but the reason went totally over our heads, although it didn’t matter anyway, as we were fully prepared to wait for the meal to be freshly cooked and brought to the table). In slightly less than the time we were given the meal arrived and looked good, and as it had just been cooked and brought immediately to the table, was piping hot. It also tasted great, and the tea was good quality. Now onto a few negatives, for which I’m going to drop this eatery down one point in the overall score. Back in our home town the same meal in our local café is similarly priced, but this is the cost to everyone, and not a special price for seniors, so we really didn’t think that the cost of the meal was that pensioner friendly. Also the fish here was much smaller than in our local eatery. Saying that the meal we had here tasted great and we did enjoy it. The staff are also some of the politest and friendliest people we have met running an eatery. We would eat here again if we were in town, and would recommend it as the meal was good, but consideration maybe need to be given to dropping the price a little bit more for it truly to be good value for senior citizens.

We would not eat Italian food anywhere else, Rocco and Gill are great hosts and the food is superb, my partner and myself went to Rome 3 years ago and I can honestly say that the food at Rocco’s is better than any restaurant we visited there. Just try it once and I guarantee you will be back for more.
