Superb home cooked food at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff. Good informal atmosphere on a rugged old boat. Definitely worth visiting.

Maybe it was a hot day but both the staff members who dealt with us, and I believe one was the owner, had poor customer service skills. Didn't care that their website was down and giving the impression that they had ceased trading. That said the food was certainly value for money and of a decent standard. Just not such a warm welcome.

My family and I visited the knott boat today. We regularly visit and ALWAYS BOOK a table well in advance we never just turn up as it is always busy. We arrived today which was a Sunday lunch visit. We sat down near the bar area as we had arrived early and no one seem to come to us to ask us had we booked a table so I walked over to the bar and said to a waitress we had a table booked and she then told us we hadn't got a table booked.we then asked if we could be fitted in then the manager came to us and said no. Asked us when we had made the booking how long ago as we stated it was a long time ago but was clearly in my diary for today but not in their diary. The manager then said it was only ever her or her colleague who writes bookings for the knott table bookings and as I went on to say y have been incompetent as this booking was done appropriately and correct by them. The manager then shouted at me and told us to leave immediately and I said don't worry we are going wouldn't want to stop there t be insulted. My family who were elderly and walked with sticks and who are partly blind made also to leave the premises absolutely shocking and extremely upset by this attitude lack of customer service... But in the end had a lovely meal else where and we all had a lovely afternoon

Had a lovely meal here in this old passenger ferry with a group of friends. A fabulous location moored in the marina. The room is divided by a proper bar with one side being a lounge and the other side being the restaurant although you can eat in the bar. The Knot is a warm and cosy place and its location makes it to isolated for the riff raff. Great for a meal with friends or just for drinks.

I have been numerous times to this lovely venue for Sunday lunch. The roast are alway excellent, with wonderful gravy and Yorkshire puddings. One criticism is that it’s always the same vegetables served ie carrots, cauliflower, and cabbage. It would be far nicer to change the veg around every now and again, as eating the same vegetables does become a bit boring.

We were taken for afternoon G&T;’s by friends who live in the area and thoroughly enjoyed the place. The bar is on a converted barge on the edge of a boatyard. Really quaint and very good decor and seating with reasonable priced drinks. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. They have speciality menu nights such as Fish night on a Friday and Pie night on another night as well as Sunday lunch. Well worth exploring but you need to know where to find it as it is tucked away through a housing estate and you park in the boatyard and walk through a gate at the end to find it! Part of the adventure!!

My wife and I and two friends booked Knots Bar on TripAdvisor Reviews and we were not disappointed. The bar area was busy and there was a warm atmosphere. We told the bar staff we had booked and were asked if we would like a drink and take a seat and we would be given menus. We ordered and were shown to our table. The food was hot and well presented. Chips came with all main courses. We had a very pleasant evening and would definitely go again. When we got home a member of staff telephoned us to say after clearing our table we had dropped something and we picked it up the following day. We felt this was over and above their call of duty. I have given a 4 star rating as we felt that the menu could be more varied and not so many chips.

Nobody offered is a menu so i went to the bar after 15 minutes to be told they are only serving food to people who had booked! I said we were willing to sit outside there was only 2 of us and the lady just said no. I was struggling to understand why we were not told this when we first walked in!? I have been meaning to give Knots a try for ages, but never got round to it. I'm not sure why its taken so long, but suffice to say, its been a mistake and I should have got on and given it a go.On a sunny evening recently we ventured along on Fish Night. We parked in the car park opposite the Riverside in Farndon and walked through the Farndon Boathouse car park and along the river bank to get there. Its a lovely spot here and particularly nice on a summers evening. You can walk all the way from Newark by the side of the river to Knots if you fancy a longer walk.Knots is a afloat in the marina but rock steady when you get onboard. Its clean, tidy and the welcoming staff make you feel at home straight away.Theres a cosy seating area as you enter in the bar area and the restaurant beyond this. The fish night is an absolute bargain, around £6. we tried the fish pie and the cod, both of which were beautifully done. great taste and really good sized portions. There a good selection of starters priced up to £5 and mains ranging from £8 to £13. The sweets are around £4, delicious and great value. In a nutshell what you get here is a pleasant evening by the river, good service from staff who genuinely want you to have a nice time, good food, good portions and a small bill.I will definitely be going again soon, more than likely for the pie night. Having recently paid around £12 for a recent bad pie experience just down the road, I'm eager to put Knots to the test for their £8.95 pie and pint bargain. I think i'm not going to be disappointed.Don't come here for a big wine list, fine dining and a bill that goes with it. Come here for a down to earth, damn good value evening.Apparently you can come into the marina car park and when you come to leave, ring them on a number they give you and they'll raise the car park barrier for you.

Great setting for a spot of Sunday lunch. We had a short wait for our table during which time we had a drink at the bar. A nice drop of local ale and plenty of other choices. A few options for starters and pudding but the intention of going to Knot's was for the roast. We had a choice of turkey, beef or pork. Between the six of us we sampled the beef and pork and would recommend either. Lots of crackling for those who like it and a good serving of veg to go with it. Went for lunch here Easter Sunday and had three courses for £10.95 which is amazing value. Everything cooked fresh the food was delicious. A slab of crackling and Yorkshire pudding as big as your hat! Proper gravy and veg that was cooked the way it should be not hard or soft and squidgy but just right, the way goldilocks likes it!Staff lovely, venue a bit of a novelty, I could go on but I think you get the picture.. Highly recommended. This is the thing though, you need this piece of info, to get there you follow the signs to Farndon Marina and on arrival you will find an automatic barrier, don't be put off by this, you just wait 10 seconds and the barrier lifts, drive in and park your car. Look to the top of the car park for the Knots Bar sign. You may think this is elementary but I do know people who have turned around at the barrier thinking they weren't allowed in the marina.Knots has a straight forward little website with other menus and opening times.Have Fun!

Just had a lovely family meal on this cosy boat restaurant. Sunday roast offered a choice of three meats with roast potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and fresh veg. Children of all ages are welcome. Very friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. We had 5 dinners and three puddings all for £46! Very highly recommended.

Our friends took us here last Friday, it was a restaurant with a difference, a boat. I had Fish and Chips as did my friend Jenny but Tony and Barry had Moby Dick Fish and Chips, boy was that huge, all meals cooked to perfection and service with a smileThe boys had clean plates, but no room for a sweet. Jenny and I had ice cream with Baileys, mmm, delicious. It was a great meal and enjoyed by all, would truly go again.

Second time at Knot's for us and both have delivered a good experience. The Friday specials are very good value for money and the overall menu is creative. Not very often you get a Beef Stifado on a menu outside of a Greek restaurant. The boat is a bit tucked away but it's worth finding. Don't be tempted to nip into the other places close by, a great meal and great service is waiting for you at Knot's.

Visited with two friends, we all had 3 courses and a total of 9 drinks and wow this was real value for money. I do think though that it's more like a pub than a restaurant. All courses we hot and tasty but I personally found the chips to be a little soggy but loved everything else. The only fault was the young waitress, who apparently had a tooth ache, but her serving skills and manner was much to be desired, and for this reason we are not sure we would return, however we found the lady bar tender and young man also serving very friendly. So if you want a lovely setting, hot pub food then this is perfect.

Knots bar is nestled on the bank of the River Trent, in the entrance to Farndon Marina and we initially thought it was purely a club house for the boating community and as 'visitors' we would feel uncomfortable and not part of the gang. We couldn't have been more wrong! Richard and Zoe are excellent hosts and are determined that everyone should feel welcome and valued. Knots sits just yards away from two very well-established restaurants and we felt a little uncertain about what eating at Knots would be like, having always enjoyed the other two eateries. We were more than pleasantly surprised. We ate on a Friday evening, having arrived at the marina quite late, after a long hard week at work. We were ravenous! It was 'Fish Friday' and in addition to the a la carte menu, we could choose from a number of fish options for £5. We chose fish and chips ...... and they were literally stunning! We couldn't fault them in any way, cooked to perfection, crisp, greaseless batter, firm white fish, piping hot mushy peas. Absolutely delicious. We say some desserts being served to another table and they looked divine, so we indulged in the chocolate fondant and cheesecake! Again, both were simply stunning! The service is excellent too. This is a very friendly, welcoming environment to enjoy both a drink and a meal. There are a number of special events that keep it alive and interesting, like live music on the last Saturday of every month (this was excellent too!) I'm sure we will enjoy many more meals and great evenings at Knots.

Dropped on it after looking for another restaurant in the area and we are glad we did, the location is amazing and it's a boat. The food was very nice and fresh and they have real ale. We are going to make it a regular thing, yummy.

Was a bit dubious about this place from the outside, but don't be put off. Went here for Sunday lunch... service was prompt and courteous, food was excellent and the price defies belief... less than £33 for 3 x three course Sunday lunches?! Can't wait to go again.

Just got home from having Sunday lunch, we booked as we didn't want to risk turning up and it being busy, good job we did it was really busy and you can see why once you've had your meal. We had never been before so we didn't know what to expect, there have been many times when you read good reports then you are well and truly disappointed, on this occasion lets say 'impressed' is an understatement. I only managed two course but my partner managed the three, it friendly, great value for money and well worth the visit but do book otherwise you could be disappointed, we definitely will be returning, make sure you check the opening times too. Well done knots!

We ate here (Sunday 20 April) as part of a large group from Lincoln Boat Club who were staying at the nearby marina. We had initially booked a two course roast (starter) with the option of having a pudding for an extra £1 (yes really - a quid) There were a variety of starters on offer: soup, breaded mushrooms, prawn cocktail, melon & berries, all of which were pronounced as "good" Then the roasts came out with the choice being pork, turkey or beef. All of these came out with huge & obviously home made Yorkshires (no Aunt Bessies here) and a great and plentiful selection of vegetables. My husband said that the gravy was absolutely delicious! We all decided to have a pudding and again there were several to choose from. My husband had the Belgian Waffles with toffee sauce and ice cream and I choose the homemade rhubarb crumble. Homemade it certainly was and it was sublimely good. I gather from those around me that other puddings (cheesecake and choc fudge cake) were also delicious. All in all, a lovely meal in pleasant surroundings. If I had one criticism, I would say that the meal did take a little long to serve, even allowing for the food to be freshly cooked (as opposed to microwaved as it is at some restaurants). However, I won't allow this to detract from my 5 star marking as they were busy and there were approximately 15 of us!We would definitely come back here!!

We were referred to Knots by friends who recommended the Sunday Lunch - Wow! what a corker. Soup to start (which was lovely) but followed by an immense feast of meat and vegetables. I had Beef and my girlfriend had Pork - both excellent. Washed down with a pint of local ale for me and glass of wine for the other half. Couldnt manage what looked like delicious desserts due to the genorosity of the main course. Great location by the river - which helps walk off the huge portions. The bill was a pleasant surprise too! - will definately be revisiting maybe for the Pie Night or their other themed evenings.

Went for Sunday lunch with family. All the staff were brilliant and the atmosphere was good - nice to have a pianist playing while we ate. However the vegan version of the roast dinner wasn’t great. There was a nut roast listed on the website menu however when we got there it had been replaced by a different option. It was a spiced cauliflower patty which tasted good but didn’t fit on a roast dinner IMO. We were told that the mash wasn’t vegan so we would get extra roast potatoes instead, but we only got three small roasties each and when we queried this, we were told you usually only get two. The greens were inconsistent; I had a pile of kale while my cousin had green beans. The carrots and parsnips were rock hard (and cooked with honey so not truly vegan). The vegan dinner felt a bit measly compared to the others, with very little effort to substitute items or present a filling plate of food worth the price tag.

Four very nice meals. We had a rib eye steak, pie of the day, vegetarian wellington, & liver & bacon. Well presented & served with a smile. Waited about 25 minutes - good time for fresh tasty food. Followed by sticky toffee pudding & cheesecakes. Nothing left on plates! Clean throughout with ample close by parking. Thank you. Very reasonable prices. Will return.

Gentleman welcomed us and was so helpful and accommodating. Beautifully decorated for autumn/Halloween. Comfortable bay seating. Couple of steps into cafe, toilets upstairs. Wonderful porridge and extensive breakfast combo menu. Great food and lovely staff in a pretty cafe, could not ask for more.

Birthday luncheon, we hadn't planned to come here, we met a butcher at Rutland show, he had just opened a bistro in Sherwood, unfortunately is was not open today. Being probably the hottest day of the year I did not want to travel too far, we have seen Launay's on a previous visit to Edwinstowe. We were the on dinners in the restaurant. I found the chairs a little too low and not quite supportive. Starters which we share were salmon wasabi pea puree and fennel citrus sperified balls, absolutely fantastic then chorizo cumberland and a wonderfully cooked egg. Mains, fried pulled pork and a sousvide steak, I had to try it because I sousvide at home, however I felt that it lacked taste and was a little dry. the tomato relish was pretty good, served in an old marmalade jar. dessert was to die for, basil cheesecake with micro lemon balm Definitely be back to ravage the a la carte menu
