Slightly hidden, but worth the find and glad we did. Small cafe, lovely courtyard, super nice service and an excellent vegan breakfast option, tbh a tad pricey but quality was there and as part of the 'deal' coffee and juice available. But that's minor this place on a sunny day was a piece of heaven and we found it hard to leave

We had both morning tea and lunch at the Cafe, having visited the Museum of Timekeeping in between. There is seating both inside and in the outer courtyard. As it was so hot and sunny we sat inside and, on Helen’s recommendation, had a slice of Jodie’s homemade sticky date and apple cake. It was so delicious that we asked if we could have a copy of the recipe. We reserved a table for lunch and had a lovely toasted sandwich with salad. The menu is extensive and there are gluten and dairy-free as well as vegetarian & vegan options They have a great selection of loose leaf teas or coffee . You can bring your dog too, if you sit in the courtyard. Take-always are available too. On the back wall they have a good selection of locally made honey, jams & chutneys. This really is a hidden gem of a cafe and if we lived locally, we’d definitely be regular customers. Thanks for the warm welcome, great home baking and fantastic service.

Why have I never stopped here before now? Gosh, I’ve been missing a real little gem of a cafe! The food was utterly delicious - all freshly made with great quality ingredients and served with a huge smile from the friendly staff. The homemade cakes looked scrummy too but as I’d already stuffed myself with a huge doorstop sandwich, I decided to take a slice home of the delicious looking rhubarb sponge cake. It’s in a great location to meet friends. And even to have a business meeting as they have free Wi-Fi too. Great outdoor space (if summer ever decides to hang around!) as well. I’ll definitely be back again soon! I’ve got to try the eggs Benedict next time!

What a fabulous place to meet a friend or two! Such a friendly welcome from the very helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you. The menu had lots of delicious options to try (the all day breakfast sounded incredible!) but I chose the chicken with mustard mayo and crispy bacon on thick cut granary bread...Oh my, it was delicious! Couldn't fit in a piece of homemade rhubarb cake after the huge sandwich, so decided to take a slice home with me instead! Really enjoyed my first visit here and it won't be the last...see you very soon!

Haven’t been here for awhile due to health problems etc… decided to visit on the spur of the moment. We usually arrive with two dogs and sit outside where we all get a lovely welcome with treats for the dogs. As it is March and chilly we decided to leave the dogs at home and sit inside, we were again welcomed and the staff asked about the dogs. We chose eggs Benedict with bacon and spinach and it was excellent, could not have been better. Good food, friendly staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the cakes look so scrumptious we will return to try some. Thanks for a lovely brunch and a warm welcome. Roger and Jan Clark

We usually stop in Southwell en route back North after an annual trip to visit relatives down South, but we couldn't get parking so opted to try this cafe having seen a sign on the way past. We need gluten free options and weren't hopeful, when to my surprise they offered alternatives for sandwiches and more than one cake. Could not fault them when they came and everyone thoroughly enjoyed - especially the bacon sandwiches and giant chips. Their gluten free date and apple loaf was AMAZING! Toilet was very clean and the outside seating area was well shaded. Very happy to have found it and very grateful that the car park at Southwell was full!

We have visited twice, very recently and about three years ago. It is located in Upton, a quiet village on the outskirts of Southwell. It is favoured with a large car park, and there is an opportunity to take a discreet turn around the large gardens associated with the specialist museum and institute that regularly opens its doors to the public BUT only twice a year! However, the Clock Tower Café opens its doors from mid-morning to late afternoon about 360 days a year.On both of our visits we have had a main course and a bottle of juice, the latter provides an opportunity to opt for Bramley produced by a very local company.Prices are average, the product better than average, and the layout comfortable and more relaxing than a typical café; we enjoyed both visits. The café is noticeably clean, and the staff friendly and competent. The café faces some stiff local competition from providers in nearby Southwell, e.g. at Reg Taylors garden centre and the Minster café. However, the Clock Tower café attract locals which we think is a good sign, and its quiet location provides a gentle contrast to Southwell and even more so that of Newark.

Eggs Benedict came with hard eggs which were sent back. Second time yolks were softer but whites were undercooked. The reason for this is because eggs were cooked in an old fashioned poacher. Poaching eggs isn't easy but it does mean breaking eggs into water that is simmering until the whites are cooked while the yolk is still runny. If they can't do this then poached eggs should come off the menu

Went for Sunday lunch with family. All the staff were brilliant and the atmosphere was good - nice to have a pianist playing while we ate. However the vegan version of the roast dinner wasn’t great. There was a nut roast listed on the website menu however when we got there it had been replaced by a different option. It was a spiced cauliflower patty which tasted good but didn’t fit on a roast dinner IMO. We were told that the mash wasn’t vegan so we would get extra roast potatoes instead, but we only got three small roasties each and when we queried this, we were told you usually only get two. The greens were inconsistent; I had a pile of kale while my cousin had green beans. The carrots and parsnips were rock hard (and cooked with honey so not truly vegan). The vegan dinner felt a bit measly compared to the others, with very little effort to substitute items or present a filling plate of food worth the price tag.

Gentleman welcomed us and was so helpful and accommodating. Beautifully decorated for autumn/Halloween. Comfortable bay seating. Couple of steps into cafe, toilets upstairs. Wonderful porridge and extensive breakfast combo menu. Great food and lovely staff in a pretty cafe, could not ask for more.

Birthday luncheon, we hadn't planned to come here, we met a butcher at Rutland show, he had just opened a bistro in Sherwood, unfortunately is was not open today. Being probably the hottest day of the year I did not want to travel too far, we have seen Launay's on a previous visit to Edwinstowe. We were the on dinners in the restaurant. I found the chairs a little too low and not quite supportive. Starters which we share were salmon wasabi pea puree and fennel citrus sperified balls, absolutely fantastic then chorizo cumberland and a wonderfully cooked egg. Mains, fried pulled pork and a sousvide steak, I had to try it because I sousvide at home, however I felt that it lacked taste and was a little dry. the tomato relish was pretty good, served in an old marmalade jar. dessert was to die for, basil cheesecake with micro lemon balm Definitely be back to ravage the a la carte menu
