Beaumond Cross Inn Bar Bistro in Newark and Sherwood

We had a wonderful one-night stay at The Beaumond Inn in Newark! From the moment wearrived, the host Carol was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Our room was spotless, well-appointed, and had a cozy charm that made us feel right at home. The highlight was the on-site bar and breakfast in bed! The location was also perfect, within easy reach of the town center and other bars. I highly recommend The Beaumond Inn to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Newark. I will definitely be returning!

The hotel is a wonderful example of a warm and friendly independent venue. A friend and I stayed in one of the recently renovated cottages owned and refurbished by the hotel’s owner, Paul. It was cosy, tastefully decorated, had a kitchen, living room (with Smart TV), two bedrooms (super comfortable beds), and a gorgeous bathroom. I’d certainly recommend The Beaumond over other Newark hotels.

The Beaumont Cross exceeded expectations. Rooms were excellent, nice draught beers, amazing food(homemade pies) and great service by Carol, who looked after us throughout the stay. Would highly recommend

Lovely family run hotel, ample parking, lovely home cooked breakfast made to order. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and have everything you need for a lovely stay. Food is delicious and all home made with excellent portions, the home made pies are delicious.

What a fab last minute find. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Breakfast choice incredible, home from home cooked food. Comfy bed, very welcoming despite it being a tad late. Great with our large dog too. :) We will use this as our regular, when visiting family locally. Fully booked we were lucky to get the last room.

Had a great stay, very welcoming. The room was comfortable and spacious. Also dog friendly which was ideal for our border collie. The breakfast was very good.

Me and my partner stayed here just after Christmas, and we had the best experience! The staff were amazing, very friendly and professional, the room was just perfect, had everything in it you could need, it was very clean, all fresh and everything in working order. The best part though was the breakfast the next morning, I had the sweet breakfast and my partner had the Newark special and both were absolutely amazing! Again the service was fantastic, we would 100% recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again in the future! Thank you

Another stay with Paul at the Beaumond Cross but first time in the newly refurbished cottages in the courtyard. We arrived late but Paul was on hand to greet us and show us around, despite the fact that it was New Year's Day! The cottage (number 17) is beautifully fitted out and so cosy. It was actually a pity we were only staying one night as there were so many handy and thoughtful features and everything one could need for a longer trip. Needless to say we will be back!

We stayed in the cottage with family (4adults and our 3 spaniels) over Christmas and it was lovely. The bedrooms are comfy and having a sitting room was a bonus as we could relax here whenever we weren’t visiting family. The kitchenette had everything we needed and we were able together our selves breakfasts and supper. Every day someone from the Inn checked in with us to see we had everything we needed. We had eaten at the Inn on previous occasions and weren’t disappointed this time either. Breakfast was excellent. We will be using the inn again when we are staying in Newark either in the inn itself or the cottage.

Ate here twice during an over night stay in Newark. Food quality is taken very seriously here. The prices are reasonable and reflect the quality you get. The environment is very homely and comfortable. Good recommendations from the owner of places to visit in Newark. Will visit again.

A most enjoyable stay at the beaumond Cross Inn which is situated a few minutes from the town market place. Carol showed us to our room, everything we could ever need down to pen and pad and she was very attentive to our needs. The breakfast was excellent and most filling. We shall certainly use the Beaumond Cross Inn when next in the area.

Lovely hotel, relaxing bar with good choice of drinks. Breakfast ok with wide selection to choose from. Owners very friendly and helpful. The only thing that prevents this from a 5 star review was the mattress and pillows. They were very firm which made the night uncomfortable, but this is just our personal preference.

We had an excellent room at top of building. Very spacious, clean and comfortable and a great bathroom. A brilliant night's sleep. Our evening meal was a treat and we loved chatting to others in bar who were also eating. The prawn starter was excellent and quality was as good as my husband has ever experienced! The choice of ' mix and match' breakfast was just what I like. We were aiming for Lincoln but couldn't get anywhere for the first night so we loved our stop off here. Highly recommended for a lovely night's stay.

Wonderful welcome, delicious, freshly cooked, quality breakfast. The biggest best menu I've seen for a breakfast at any hotel. Nice couple running the place. Always go for food. So refreshing to stay in a hotel which is a privately run family business run extremely well with a more personal touch to the bland chain hotels. Welcoming bar and fabulous breakfasts. Very good value for money. Perfect location in the centre of Newark.

My stay was a nightmare. I did the mistake of booking through Booking.com and not only paid more but on arrival the lady Carol additionally charged me (with no warning) with Carparking; apparently this is included if booked direct. I was not happy with this and declined the use of Carpark. The money was returned but she harassed me. She would not allowed me to download my luggage while the car was in the parking. She would not even release the room keys despite payment already done. I had to first take my car out of the Carpark and then return to collect keys. The room was ok however very warm and unable to control room temperature. Bedding thick winter type and quite warm throughout the night and difficult to sleep. Noisy traffic street. Shower cabin very tight. Biscuits in a jar not hygienic. For the price they charge they could have treated me with more courtesy and provide better. Interestingly as I leave they send me an email requesting a good Google review or phone them to sort out any issues, so I would not trust these reviews. Thank you

Lovely family runned Inn. Claire was lovely with great hospitality! Although the room I was in was slightly small for x2 people and to get into the narrow lane to the car park at the back, you have to go in from a main road. The whole weekend spent there was lovely with no issues.

we have been twice, both times meals have been very good. not a big choice of beers or lagers, but it is not a large place. good quality food, not cheap but you get what you pay for. would recommend if you have not been.

Stop over on the way North. Arrived a bit late but they kept the kitchen open for us and the food was amazing: really fresh ingredients and delicious. Beer excellent, room really nice, breakfast just as good. 100% recommend if you have a dog, like good food, like good beer and like staying in an independent hotel. Thanks all

I stayed one night in room 10. It was extremely well equipped, with an excellent shower room and good value for money. Good beer, friendly service and tasty breakfast. If you like staying somewhere with more individuality than a chain hotel, this place should suit you nicely.

I rarely give 5 stars for excellent. But quite honestly I couldn’t fault this breakfast. It was absolutely delightful. I’ve had breakfast here before and have always come back, whenever I’m in town. It was a surprise, that it was even better on this visit. Ok the surrounding aren’t fancy, but what it lacks in a stylish surroundings, it makes up for with quite honestly with great food. I didn’t stay the night, just pop in for breakfast. I’ve recently stayed in several expensive hotel in Suffolk and honestly, this was by far the best breakfast. The quality of the products, purchased and made in house are so high. My sister and I who visited are real foodies and invariably hard to please when eating out. We both agreed, that the breakfast was excellent. If I lived locally, I’d be treating myself to breakfast more often. We have visited Newark for years and the Beaumont cross inn hadn’t been on our radar. I think because it hasn’t got kerb appeal, or isn’t in the market area, it’s easy overlooked. But avoid it and miss out on a real treat. I will absolutely be back on my next visit.

We had breakfast and dinner here. All food freshly cooked and delicious Breakfast was special,home made sausages and home cured bacon.also lovely fish options. People staying in other nearby hotels were coming for breakfast here!

We booked a table for two for Thursday at 6pm. We were greeted by a chap who was very welcoming and enthusiastic about the food on offer. Nice to see. The place filled up quickly so there must be a good reputation to get repeat business. And if our experience is anything to go by, it is well deserved. The food, rabbit pie and fish pie with loads of veg, is as close as you could get to homemade and very plentiful, with local produce. This is a great spot in a historic location. The total for the two of us with drinks and service charge was £78.

Service was very personable and excellent. The atmosphere relaxed, warm and friendly. In a way large chains cant achieve, this is a family run concern. Lunch time was quiet, with only a few locals at the bar. We didnt mind this, the busy times being around hotel guests at breakfast and dinner. Also beautiful presented with lots of hanging baskets and the outside newly painted. An old 18th century coach house retaining lots of character, a gem in Newark. This was our 2nd lunch time visit for a very tasty slap up meal, for a birthday celebration . Menu was varied, with the tasty pies taking centre stage. However I opted for the fish, which was one of the freshest most delicious I have tasted. Menu stating is is wild caught. And perfectly cooked. Whilst my partner opted for a steak pie. With lots of gravy. Veg and chips were also perfectly cooked. For desert I had the treacle pudding with ice cream. Which was yummy and not too heavy. No hesitation in recommending for a special meal and if we were in the area again would love to stay, either in one of the bedrooms or the cottages next door recently purchased and refurbished.

Wonderful dining Experience. I had the duck pie with roasted vegetables and it was delicious. I had booked a room there and arrived late but Staff were great and found me a table. I loved the meal, it was refreshingly different and I was sorry I wasn't staying longer so that I could try more of their dishes.

I stay at this Hotel when visiting family and friends as my first choice because of location, cost and quality.

A group of us stayed in cottage 17 and it was fabulous, beautifully refurbished, spotless and very comfy beds. Great lunch and breakfast & very friendly owners & staff. Would defo recommend.

Lived here for 6 years and never been in. Decided to try today and I can honestly say BEST food in Newark. Four of us with three of us choosing the pie (duck, lamb and braised beef) with each pie having their respective gravies. One of the party opted for the breakfast. And said it was the best breakfast ever especially with homemade sausage. The chips were incredible the veggies amazing too. If you are wondering whether you should try dint give it a second thought and go.

Delightful inn in the historic heart of Newark. I stopped here at the very last minute due to back pain on a long journey. I wanted a room with a bath for a good soak. Carol welcomed me warmly even though it was past 10 in the evening. The superior room, tucked away in the attic space (many stairs, for those that struggle with them) was a wonderful. It is a large room with lots of light (great blinds too), a sofa, chairs and plenty of surfaces to work at or unload luggage. We stayed 2 nights here and it was great. I would have rated it 5 stars but I don't want to raise people's expectations as it's a tad different to "standard" hotels but that is part of it's charm. Breakfast is amazing. So much choice and all freshly made/cooked. Lots of great vegan/veggie options as well. The bar is small but it has a good offering with a comfortable lounge. There is good parking available and the hotel is very central so easy walking distance to lots of places. Be aware there might be some road noise but that's the price to be paid for being so central. Our room was large as we chose the superior room with a lovely power shower. It's not luxurious but it was clean with a great bed and they have gone out of their way to ensure you have everything in the room plus a few extras that you wouldn't expect. The family who run the hotel are very committed and work hard to ensure it's an enjoyable stay. I would definitely return and definitely recommend it.

An absolute gem of a place. A family run cosy, friendly inn which puts hospitality and food top of its priorities. We were wonderfully looked after by the owner Paul's Mum and Dad. The menu was varied and different - it was difficult to choose but the homemade pies were great, as was the shank of lamb. Absolutely everything is homemade, even the jam at breakfast. Paul believes in sourcing local top quality ingredients. He clearly has a loyal team to help as well as his parents. Special mention too goes to Agnes who never stops! Our room at the top was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The inn is very close to the town centre and has on-site parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights.

Our original guest house had overbooked so we had to find alternative accommodation. How lucky we were to end up staying in this brilliant place. Everything was 100%,would highly recommend. We will return. Thank you Paul and family for making our stay so perfect.

Just returned from a 2 night B+B stay at this little gem of a place, staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating, the food was exceptional...this was one of the best cooked breakfasts I have ever had, I would also recommend the 'Cavalier' Pies...delicious Our room was spotlessly clean, everything worked as it should, Carol was a Trojan....we will be back.

While the B&B may have a 3-star rating, the service and overall experience felt much closer to a 5-star establishment. Fabulous homemade hearty and delicious cooking from start to finish, in a cozy atmosphere, from a family run business offering great hospitality and a wide range of menu options for dinner and breakfast. We chose this pub for a stopover on our journey back to South London from Northumberland as it is close to the A1. It’s a lovely family run pub with delicious food - the Cavalier pies are wonderful and the breakfast excellent. We stayed in the newly refurbished cottage next door which was very comfortable. Definitely recommended.

What a gem find, originally booked one night room only but having arrived on lunchtime decided to have lunch, enjoyed so much decided to book dinner and breakfast the following morning. Lovely family run coach house inn. The bed was a bit small personally for us(standard double) with a spring loaded mattress, but I understand you can't please everyone. Our room was cleaned, bed made, towels changed and bins emptied every day. Lovely big bathroom and useful quirky bits and bobs. We had breakfast the first morning, full English which was excellent. Although we found an evening drink in the bar a bit expensive, half a beer and a homemade Baileys £15!! Ouch.. Nice cosy seating area near the bar. Location was excellent for us in Newark town

Great location in the middle of town, and the room I stayed in was absolutely lovely, with charming wooden beams, skylights and beautiful furnishings. The pub itself is charming and I would definitely stay again.

Fabulous stopover on our drive from Stansted to Glasgow. Food is absolutely amazing. Rooms are small in line with the character of the building but had everything you could need, and more.

A very pleasant overnight stay for 2 couples at the Inn. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Bar is very handy. Good parking is just behind the hotel so no need for us to experience another run-in with the big commercial car park close by! Good central location in this very interesting and attractive town.

We had the special Easter lunch menu which was excellent. The beef and salmon were both delicious, and the puddings were first rate. A really charming family run bistro which we shall return to!

Fabulous sunday dinner cooked to perfection

Can’t quite decide what it is trying to be, a pub with rooms, a hotel with a small bar, but owners obviously very passionate about their establishment and room was comfortable and breakfast tasty enough. Too many A4 printed signs around telling you what you can and can’t do and personally don’t like having to pre-order breakfast the night before.

We stayed at the Beaumond Cross Inn for two nights over the last weekend. The room was spacious, extremely comfortable and exceptionally clean. We also ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night. The food was lovely - home cooked, tasty and plentiful. Service was efficient and friendly. We would certainly return and highly recommend the pub.

We’ve had breakfast here before, this was our first time staying in the hotel. Yes it’s a little bit more expensive than the Travelodge, but this place has character. The whole experience was perfect, Carol is a great host with a lovely sense of humour. We stayed in room no.8 that was a nice size, and impeccably clean. We will definitely be returning.

What a little gem of a place , I really didn’t expect the food to taste this good. I had the festive pie which was turkey , stuffing, Brie and cranberry, this came with perfectly cooked roast veg and an array of mixed greens, we also had mash and chips. Everything was homemade, and you could tell, it tasted great especially the thick onion gravy and the portions were very generous. A very hearty filling meal It’s rare to find food that’s homemade and tastes this good and doesn’t cost the earth. I would definitely recommend trying this place.

Cosy Family Run Small Restaurant. Service and Food are Wonderful. Recommend the home made pies with unusual but really tasty hot sauces and roast vegetables are perfect. Generous portions and all served piping hot. Best to book. On London Road in Central Newark with its own car park behind the building.

I cannot recommend this place to anyone because it is overpriced to the point of rip off! The pie dishes are £19.99 each for a pie barely the size of a mince pie. A bottle of wine that was said to be worth £60 and charged out at £30 can easily be sourced on the internet for £5.99. The place and service is hardly cordon blue standard and therefore cannot be recommended

A quiet Monday in Newark, with not many places open, or serving food, so decided to try this place based on Trip Adviser reviews, and was not disappointed. Food was excellent, we both had pies, served with a choice of potatoes and a good variety of fresh vegetables. Very good, friendly, attentive service. Would definitely come here again.

What a find, real homemade food cooked to perfection. Nothing pretentious here, just honest to goodness food, served in plentiful portions. You won’t go home hungry!! NB - their beef pie is to die for!! If you are ever near Newark and want good food, we’ll cooked then find this place! You won’t be disappointed .

Called in for a quick pre-cinema dinner and was not disappointed. Lovely home made pie with the best selection of fresh vegetables I’ve ever had with a pub meal. The pub was clean with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. Would definitely visit again.

Stayed here with a friend overnight. Great accommodation – room, spotlessly, clean and lots of attention to detail. E.g. fresh milk. Amazing breakfast with loads of choices. We didn’t have a meal in the pub, but we had a drink when we returned all staff very friendly and professional.

A group of six of us visited here for Sunday lunch. My friends had been before, but this was the first visit for my husband and I. We are vegans and there was an excellent selection of pies available. The accompanying roast veg and greens were excellent. What made it really special were the different sauces for each of our options. The atmosphere was great, and I appreciated the very pleasant loos. I will be returning soon.

Ate here with friends and had a wonderful evening,we all had one of the many homemade pie's on offer all came with it's own flavour gravy depending on the type of pie, I had the lamb which was amazing as were the rest chosen by our group. The pie's are priced at nearly twenty pounds but come with huge portions of chips and or vegetables. Overall it was a lovely meal and great evening and were looked by the hosts.

One of the very few places open on a Monday evening. Expectedly it was quiet, but it had such a homely feel, it didn’t matter. Food was absolutely delicious, I also had some home made Gins, these were lovely! Service was from one very lovely lady, who treated us like we were locals, this made it even more homely. Highly recommend, can’t wait to dine with you again!

Comfortable and cosy surroundings, perfect for a winters evening. The staff were efficient and helpful. The pies and accompaniments were delicious. There was also a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options. I will definitely be back to try something different and I will definitely be recommending to friends and family.

The worst Sunday lunch I have ever experienced ….£22 for a ‘lamb ‘ dinner ,only to be bought out a lamb shank …seriously how can a description be so wrong ,it’s the equivalent of asking for a pork dinner and being bought out gammon …the roast potatoes were probably lovely when they were cooked yesterday ,the vegetables had celery in (seriously ,where the hell is this a thing ),the roasted vegetables were over cooked as well as covered in places with what we thought was beetroot …al le carte prices and worse than any weatherspoons The ‘minted gravy’ had a white deposit on that I have no idea even if it was supposed to be there The whole pub smelt fusty which I would imagine was from all of the books ….overall ,I wished I went to maccys What really gets me is the positive reviews of this dump which I can only put down to the strength of the local alcohol ….I really wish I was drunk before I went there

A little gem in the heart of Newark on Trent. The pies were amazing and served with a choice of sides. We had the partridge with forest fruits sauce and pork with apple cider sauce, green veg, home made chips and roasted veg. A delicious feast! Highly recommended.

Only had a main course (lamb shank) but it arrived quickly with all the trimmings. Very tasty and well cooked. Only downside was eating too much and being unable to go out afterwards! Highly recommended though :)

We wanted somewhere close to the centre of town with parking and Beaumond Cross fit the bill perfectly, we arrived early and could leave the car. All of the staff members we met were polite and friendly and the room was lovely, on this occasion we didn’t have breakfast as we were expected elsewhere, but we have eaten here before and it was excellent, this was a return visit for us and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Beaumond Cross Inn.
