A friend who lives locally suggested we have lunch here and it was a great choice. We were lucky to get the last table upstairs on a Friday lunchtime. She had a ham and cheese toastie with salad, I chose the frittata with the smoky beans and everything was delicious. You have to pay in another building next door but one on leaving, and the very pleasant girl there offered me a 10% voucher to use in the bakery opposite. As it was Valentine’s Day we chose a couple of heart shaped brownies and they were gooey, chocolatey perfection.
Excellent food, lovely table and such a quaint little place, service with a smile thoughrouly enjoyed the evening will return when we're back in Broadway
Weekday dinner meal. Great, albeit compact, ambience. Fabulous, rustique food.
The pinsa style pizza was packed full of flavour whilst the arancini has a rick tomato sauce.
Cheesecake dessert was excellent.
I ate hear 2 years ago and it still has its charm.
I bought a gift voucher for afternoon tea & bed and breakfast for my husband. I'd already been in touch with Swan House prior to buying this as my husband and I both have different specific dietary requirements which I wanted to make sure could be catered for, I was told it wouldn't be a problem as long as they were informed when we booked. We were given a very warm welcome and showed to our room which was very clean and perfect for what we wanted.
We then went for our afternoon tea which we had upgraded to a super deluxe afternoon tea to have sweet and savoury, which looked amazing and tasted even better. Everything was very fresh and there was plenty of food to fill us up, we couldn't manage it all so had to save some for later! We were very impressed with being given a menu of scones so that we could choose which we wanted, I had rhubarb and ginger which were delicious and my husband had blue cheese and bacon which he really loved as well.
The lady who served us was very friendly and attentive to make sure we had everything we needed and the owner came and chatted with us too to make sure we were happy.
I'm certainly planning a return visit to enjoy it again when I can.
Probably our 8th visit by now! The pizzas are always lovely, would especially recommend the spicy spinata, good selection of drinks including different flavoured lemonades, cocktails and beer on tap. Do miss the garlic bread though!
Although the host was very friendly this was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I really believe I should have been paid for eating that meal and not the other way around. I truly don't understand the good reviews of this place, totally misleading.
Where do I start?
From the minute of booking and yes you do have to prebook ( they don't do walk ins), to the moment you leave, the whole experience is personal and first class. Knocking on the door may seem strange but from that moment on Rose knows your name and is the perfect host. Embrace the atmosphere of the restaurant it's one sitting and your meal is also prebooked. You are never rushed and encouraged to take your time.
The food is what you pay for, Quality and lovingly cooked by Patrick (chef/owner) who comes to see everyone after their meals and spends time talking to you about you, and your meal, afterwards you can stay at the table or retire to the lounge area which we did for cocktails. I've never experienced such warmth, fantastic food and yet intimacy in one hit but I'll definitely go again
Starter: Goats cheese salad
Main: venison lasagne
Desert: scottish tiramsu
Bill: no suprises as prebooked plus whatever drinks you order.
Loved everything about Sosban! Everything was done with intent and from the heart. This is very confident cooking and there is nothing mainstream about the entire experience. Go if you have an open mind, adventurous and are able to trust the chef. If you like a convential michelin starred restaurant, then this won't be for you.
Shame that this has closed and we were so fortunate to get there on the last day before it did.
When we saw that it was still number one and also award winning, we had to return and we're not disappointed.
We just hope that the other cafes in Lynmouth rise to the standards set for future visits.
Delicious food and lovely little spot in the town centre. All the staff are very pleasant and helpful and the place is spotlessly clean .it's not the cheapest but then you get what you pay for.not just your regular cheep quality product's
Really friendly family owed restaurant. We just stopped in for a quick bit to hold us over to dinner. I had the apple pie and my husband had a slice of some type of lemon pie/cake. The apple pie was good. I also had a large tea while my husband had coffee. Very relaxed environment. The owner was really friendly and has two dogs which are nice and mellow. There are snacks for sale already packaged for travel. We took some freshly baked snacks for later that night (i really do not remember what we had…only it was good). The restaurant offers local artist crafts for sale. We Recommend a stop in for a quick bit to eat.
