Shame that this has closed and we were so fortunate to get there on the last day before it did. When we saw that it was still number one and also award winning, we had to return and we're not disappointed. We just hope that the other cafes in Lynmouth rise to the standards set for future visits.

I visited here recently with my husband and was keen to try their gluten free cream tea. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. They are a dog friendly cafe which is always a plus for us and even offered to package up our leftover scones as we couldn't finish them. Their gluten free scones were lovely and the jam was delicious. The menu had a variety of gluten free options to choose from including cakes, cream tea and pasties. The cafe also sells their homemade jam which is a nice little touch.

This tiny cafe is an absolute gem of a place. Full of old fashioned charm and service from people who actually really care about what they are doing. In entering with our dog we were immediately greeted and directed to a suitable table. We were given menus and a bowl of water for our dog. We were told about the provenance of the jam (plum, made locally) and who made the scones. The cream tea was excellent! When the tea came we were advised to let the tea steep before pouring. Every detail was cared about. We were regularly asked if we needed anything or if we had everything we wanted. It was like being treated to afternoon tea with your family. What a wonderful atmosphere the team has created here. Congratulations and keep up the great work! A stand out in a sea of blandness.

We had the great pleasure of having lunch at the Lynmouth Bay Cafe today. We had a cream of tomato and basil soup which was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Then we treated ourselves to scones with clotted cream and jam along with a cup of tea. I can’t remember the last time I have had better scones. Very glad we stopped in!

What a lovely cafe, the staff were so nice & they offered to bring our dog a bowl of water. We’d read the reviews on Trip Adviser about Lynmouth Bay cafe about they were absolutely spot on. We had a cream tea - how can you go to Devon & not, and it was every bit as good as the reviews said. Best scones we’ve ever tasted!

Family of four had cream teas and one chilli scone tea. All delicious with variety of jams. Scones were fresh and warm and enormous. The mini cream tea with one scone is plenty to fill you up. Staff very friendly. It does get really busy so be prepared to wait before being seated but they don’t rush you once you’re there. Can’t understand the three star review below - look at the many excellent reviews and definitely pay it a visit before it’s too late!!

Lovely staff were welcoming and helpful. Every aspect looked clean. They were rushed off their feet and having to turn customers away. This may have impacted portion sizes which were not special. The food was plain but fresh. The menu we were given said 'Thick sliced ham', it was anything but... The online menu is out of date - prices are higher, generally by 50p. The waitress asked if the food was "all right" and that's what it was. As it is a cafe and the food was average regretfully we can't really give it four stars for 'very good'.

A highly recommended refreshment stop while exploring this interesting area. Among the friendliest of welcomes I have ever had in a cafe - and the Cheese Scones are right at the top of the tastiest I have had! We visited in August late afternoon and although we were told that there was only drinks and cake available now, we were made to feel welcome. The service was prompt friendly and polite. The tea was lovely and the huge homemade (no bicarbonate of soda) scones were amazing. Also the jam was sublime, they sold this so we have taken some home. Definitely recommend this little cafe lovely, so glad we found it and so nice to have such lovely and tasty homemade bakes.

We (A family of 7 and 1 dog) visited on a damp drizzly day in July and the service with a smile and fabulous homecooked tasty food soon had us warmed up. Being a large group we sat outside but under cover and staff really...

We stayed in Lynmouth last weekend and as soon as we arrived we came straight here for lunch as it was so good when we visited last year. We had exactly the same again this year - pot of tea and shared a crab sandwich...

We arrived just before 4pm which was Sunday closing time yet we're assured it was fine to come in. We selected this cafe as had visited before last October and enjoyed our visit. All staff so friendly and helpful. Good coffee and brownie, perhaps one...

We had fresh crab sandwiches and home cooked ham ploughman’s. Very nice. Great tea and plenty of it. Staff were very pleasant and apologetic as all food is prepared freshly and takes a little longer than other places. There are a few tables outside in...

As a keen cyclist with my m8 we are always looking for a nice cafe with good food and drink on our route. We certainly found one here. Gluton free, normally would be a big no to me but we tried the choc brownie with ice cream which was lovely and a oat latte which was also very nice. As my wife would tell u im a very fussy food and drink person. She dreads it when shop owners ask how i find they foods.More often than not theres always something i dont like.Im hard to please. THE FABULOUS SPROUT pleased me very much though.Nice decor as well and friendly service. When ever im in south molton it will be my go place.

Great food fun locally and ethically sourced suppliers, prepared by someone who so obviously has poured their heart and soul into a great little stop. Excellent knowledge of every aspect of the menu, ingredients and suppliers I can't recommend this place for a setup wether is for a coffee and cake or a very decent lunch.

This was so welcoming into what felt like the Chef’s home. It was cosy, the ambience was superb. The food was truly delicious and what was real, we felt we were part of the family. The tastes of the various dishes was just amazing and every dish was so different. The Chef was accompanied by his lovely wife and son who were amazing and helped make the family atmosphere with such a famous chef at the helm.

We were a large group dining here to celebrate two of our friend’s birthdays, and it’s safe to say we’ll be coming back to celebrate every occasion and more! The restaurant and outside spaces are beautiful, the staff were fantastic and really looked after us, and the food was exceptional!!

Really fancied a coffee and a sandwich, saw this place and went in. It’s an arty cafe run by a local family who were very welcoming. It’s tastefully decorated with good background music which gave a really relaxed vibe to the place. The coffee was extremely good and the smoked cheese and red onion was mouth watering. I certainly will be returning when in Barnstable.
