Miss Fea's Cafe in North Devon

I recently stayed at The Smugglers Rest, a beautifully run B&B with bistro in a small village location, perfect for exploring the North Devon coast. The customer service ethos runs through every detail from the welcome, to the decor, to the quality of the fresh cooked food and the helpfulness of the team. I would love to visit again.

Really tasty seasonal menu with plenty of choice! Our party tried the fillet steak, the sea bass and the pork belly. All delicious. Good and varied children's menu as well - all fresh and homemade! The puddings were excellent and unique. The Baileys burnt basque cheesecake was a winner all round! All dishes beautifully presented and the atmosphere was cosy and quaint.

We had a lovely meal here when visiting Mortehoe last week. A lovely atmosphere. Great service and the food was amazing - the best food we had all week in Woolacombe/Mortehoe. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

If I could have given this restaurant 3 1/2 stars, I would. However I have generously marked up. My husband and my son really enjoyed their food, however I was disappointed. My starter of gravadlax was lovely and fresh and I really enjoyed it. However my main, sea bass, (although in a beautiful sauce with lovely samphire,) was pinky brown and tough. I don’t know what was wrong with it, I have never had sea bass like that before. Maybe it had been frozen previously or wasn’t very fresh. They tried to cook it some more but it was still the same. To be fair I was not charged for this item, however I had no real main course to eat and was mostly sat watching my husband and son! My second mistake was to order the panna cotta for dessert. I’ve never had such a bland, watery panna cotta, with a weird texture. Taking pity on me, my husband swapped and gave me his dessert. I can’t remember the name of what it was but it was maybe a lemon curd tart with some kind of dark fruit? Anyway, it was absolutely delicious. Tangy scrumptious filling and lovely pastry. So at least I got to eat something nice! The proprietor and staff were lovely to us and our dog. I’m afraid I wouldn’t go back though.

What can I say, excellent food, service and drinks. If your in the area it’s a must !!! Our waitress’s knowledge of the wine and food was excellent. Great value for money, lovely surroundings and they even take well behaved dogs !! Keep it going !!!

Great meal, friendly and efficient service and real attention to detail. We were so glad to be able to get a table at short notice. The food was top notch. Perfectly cooked sea bass with delicious sauce and the 'smores' dessert was excellent too. If you want top quality food at a reasonable price then highly recommend Miss Fea's!

Such a beautiful small restaurant in mortehoe, doesn’t feel full of tourists like most of the restaurants in Woolacombe do…! The food quality is exquisite, and although slightly on the pricy side, it is definitely worth it. The restaurant owners are very nice and always make you feel welcome when you return ☺️

We were made very welcome and loved the place and staff, but sadly were a bit disappointed by our dinners. My partner had the tagliatelle which was swimming in oil and my duck was a small leg, rather dry with no sauce and lots of boring lentils. Potatoes were an extra. £70 for just two mains and a modest bottle of wine seemed a bit steep. So a tad disappointing, especially as it’s local to us and we had high hopes after a friend’s recommendation. By the way, it’s now called “Smugglers’ Rest”. We’ll give it another try in a while in the hopes that the food will be a bit tastier.

An absolute gem! We stayed in Woolacombe for our honeymoon and so glad we came to Miss Fea’s. We walked up from Woolacombe and it wasn’t far at all. The meal itself was sensational - local lobster cooked beautifully, and delicious starters and puddings as well. Service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. Will 100% come back if we’re ever in the area again!

Superb evening again at Miss Feas, the welcome was warm, staff attentive and knowledgeable, seasonal, small but well executed menu with something to please everyone. Wine list is comprehensive and not ridiculously priced.

We visited on Friday with my parents and two children. We had the early sitting with the children. The atmosphere was lovely and quirky, service and food spot on! Gem of a find in a sleepy Mortehoe. We'll be back next year!

We went here for my birthday treat while staying at the Damage Barton campsite about 0.9 miles away. The choice on the menu was great (we're vegetarian+fish and there was as much choice for us as for meat eaters), there were a lot of interesting wines on the wine menu, and the staff were really great. The food was marvellous and we'd whole-heartedly recommend it.

Miss feas is a lovely warm bistro in Mortoe near Woolacombe with great attention to detail, a small but complete menu and great wines these people enjoy providing the best experience possible and it was dog friendly to boot. I have given 5 out of 5 which I rarely do but that reflects the passion that accompanies the product.

What a little gem. It was a few years ago that we luckily got the chance to eat there, fully booked for 2 weeks, but we cheekily got in after a friendly conversation with the waitress. The food was sensational, with some good wine to compliment it also. We managed to have a quick conversation with 'Miss Fea' and her husband, lovely people and what a chef she is! If you planning a trip to Ilfracombe, make sure you book a night in this little gem, small, but absolutely top notch.

From walking in we had a warm welcome staff so friendly the food was absolutely amazing would recommend anyone in Mortehoe should visit. We went twice and not disappointed both times highly recommend

We researched places to eat in the area and the reviews of Miss Fea's hinted that it would be worth a visit. My chef partner is always fairly particular where he eats but this place was lovely. The owners care about what they are serving and the suppliers are local. Cannot recommend enough.

The most bizarre welcome ever. I asked for a table for 3. The chap said that he may have seats and asked me twice if I looked at the menu already... Hm.. That lit a red light in my head. Then he took us to the table and the funniest thing came out "well look at the menu first and we'll take it from there" 😁 was it my accent? Was it my hair? I'll never find out as not planning to go back. 2 stars for a really nice food. At least mine was nice, as the grilled cauliflower steak was literally a slice of cauliflower 😁

Wow, what a gem! We’ve eaten at Miss Fea’s Cafe three times now - once in the Summer for my special birthday with my family, and twice this week when we spent another long weekend in Mortehoe. This must be the find of the century! Will and Stacey have a first class restaurant with delicious food beautifully presented with the help of their welcoming front of house staff, Kirsty and James, and of course their chef, Sam. The ambiance and decor is gorgeous. And, they allow dogs, which is a bonus for us with our German Shepherd. Well done to all of you. It’s been a long (almost 2 years) since we’ve been able to dine here due to the C word, building work and complicated diaries but so glad we were able to come back tonight. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service and not enough superlatives to use about the food and drink. It’s difficult to emphasise how relaxed, comfortable and made to feel at home they make you. There can’t be many places that combine exquisite food with such great service. I’ve likened it before to going to a friends house for dinner but the friend is the most amazing chef. Arrived, staff seemed dismissive, seemingly unsure of our booking and unwelcoming. Directed us to an filthy table covered in stains, food and with no menus or cutlery. Table wiped down so it was soaked, so napkins become saturated.menu doesn't seem intuitively laid out Nobody came to ask us if we wanted drinks (it wasn't busy) Food menu is light on anything that isn't sea food or a £30 steak We got up to leave and only then did someone come over but not to repair relations but rather a blunt "why are you leaving" Advise: 1. With the prices.. make people feel welcomed at least. 2. If you know a booking is coming in spend 3 minutes making sure it's cleaned and set. 3. Maybe consider diversifying the menu a bit more and simplifying the wording. 4. From window seat maybe try tidings those outside dumpsters, it's all you can see. Appearance is modern in there you clearly want to market yourself as a premium venue but fancy lightbulbs and fresh paint is not why I'm out for dinner.
