We visited this wonderful place whilst on holiday and it’s absolutely stunning. I loved the detailed decor and the vibe. The food is all made freshly on site. We had cake and coffee and my son had the vegan beans and sausage on toast and it’s safe to say we have all devoured our food.

Such a fabulous choice of foods, all full of colour flavour and texture.Prefect for those following OMS Car park very close!.

Delicious Panini with the best potato salad I have tasted in a long time. Friendly and chilled atmosphere and good and reasonably priced menu.

Lovely small cafe with all home made food. Friendly, efficient service and my panini was excellent and served with absolutely delicious side salads, best mustard potato salad ever and a salsa. Good value.

Great full menu of plant-based food. Very friendly and helpful owner. Service slightly slow (only 1 person serving) but it was worth the wait. Couple of tables outside (in the covered precinct) if you have a dog with you.

Once again Mad Hatters delivers a fabulous lunch experience - their food is so fresh and tasty - made with love and passion, I honestly don't think you'll find better in Barnstaple. This is our third visit, and will not be our last. Stunning Vegan Sandwiches, Sales and sweet treats - it's on another level and we cannot recommend it highly enough, they deserve amazing success.

Very pleased we found this place for our day trip to Barnstable. Both me (vegetarian) and my partner (meat-eater) greatly enjoyed the food we had here. Prices were fair, and the staff were very friendly. Definitely try out the rocky road, it was moreish :)

Been here a few times and I have really enjoyed all times. Place looks amazing with Alice in wonderland decor and birds chirping in the background. Food as always been really tasty and fresh and very reasonably priced. Owner is always very friendly. The brownies and Rocky roads are sooo good would definitely recommend buying. Will definitely be coming back again!

Came here recently for dinner with some vegan friends - a lovely little restaurant, with a good ambience, friendly staff and great food. Don’t be put off if you’re not vegan, the food is extremely tasty and definitely worth a try! Would highly recommend this place to anyone for a meal, I need to pop in again sometime during the day to try some of their light bites!

Visited here twice on our holiday. The food was excellent every time and the huge amount of thought that had gone into everything we ate was clear. The service was friendly and they were happy to answer questions about the food and were able cater for our allergies without any trouble. The desserts were fantastic too and I would have believed they were non vegan had I not known beforehand. Definitely worth a visit for anyone in the area.

This place is a little gem and well worth the short walk from the High Street. Although not vegan myself, I do enjoy plant based food and have visited many vegan outlets in my travels. I genuinely have to say that not only does this venue probably serve the best vegan food in Barnstaple but without question, the best vegan food in North Devon. I have visited several times now and invariably commend the owners on the unique levels of flavours they masterfully create in their dishes. It is both wonderful and enticing to experience their passion and expertise for quality vegan food. I particularly enjoy their Notzarella and Tomato Paninis, accompanied by a mustard seed dressing as well as the Smashed Avocado. The portions are perfectly presented and sized and can be paired with a range of high quality vegan drinks. Please do not hesitate to ask the highly approacable, delightful owners for their advice and recommendations. For those of you with a sweet tooth, on offer are a range of desserts to die for. Whether you are a local or a visitor, vegan or not, then this little gem is a must. Believe me, you won't regret it.

Went here this afternoon with my partner and my parents after searching for a plant based place to eat. It was a really nice chilled out atmosphere and the mad hatter tea party theme was great. The service was ace and the guy who served us was very friendly. The food was absolutely incredible too, both the main meals and desserts were delicious and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

What a treat this place is! Upon visiting the area I am so happy I found it, a wonderful setting and the food is incredible. I came with my kids who are plant based, and my parents who are not. My parents were very happy with the food, they loved how flavourful everything was. I highly recommend this place to everyone, not just plant-based diets. Everything is thoughtfully put together. Being a non vegan/ vegetarian, but trying to eat more vegetarian food can be difficult. But this place makes it easier. High quality food and drinks, friendly and welcoming staff and a quirky themed setting.

The greatest vegan cheesecake I've ever tasted, honestly would take a punch from the hulk if it meant I got a slice afterwards. Not a fan of cheesecake? Luckily for you literally everything on the menu is top notch food whether you're used to eating plant based or you're a meat eater; you'd have to be mental not to enjoy it! As an added bonus the people who own/work there are probably some of the nicest, friendliest people you'll encounter in England so if you haven't been to try it out yet... what are you doing with your life?

Quite honestly some of the best plant based food I have tried. The New Yorker sandwich is out of this world, with a burst of flavours and textures. The portion sizes are perfect and filling. As for the sweet treats, well they are just beautiful. If you haven't tried them and you're in passing I would highly recommend!! The customer service is also excellent. A very happy customer.

Relaxing atmosphere, nice, healthy and abundant food. The ciabatta was great but the cheesecake was outstanding I came to try the place and I am definitely recommending the place.

So impressed with this cute hidden gem. The food is prepared with good knowledge and understanding of high quality nutritious vegan food - I am not a vegan, but love high end vegan food when available. So fairly priced too . Don’t miss this jewel of a cafe’ . Tucked away adjacent to the town’s public carpark . Directions on Google map, but don’t be put off being directed into this carpark .

On my first visit I had a panini that comes with 2 salads of choice which was a nice addition. Followed by a lovely chocolate brownie. I was the only customer for a while and the owner was happy to chat and make me feel welcome. The decor is great, themed of course and having a peek through to the annex that will be open for evenings soon i could see it had a similar style. I'm looking forward to trying the evening options and more from the daytime menu.

Love this place! Haven't tried anything there I don't like, which is rare for me. The owners are so friendly and really make your day, with delicious food and delicious brownies and always a lovely chat. Really generous portions and pricing. Best vegan place around here by far

Stumbled across this wonderful café by accident whilst on holiday, as two vegans and a little veggie we were very happy to try a plant based eatery and...it was absolutely gorgeous! Plenty of options, great coffee and tasty puds. Shame we live 200 miles away...

Amazing pit stop on our way to Hartland. We had the New Yorker and the Notzarella, both sandwiches were fantastic, the salads gorgeous, especially the zingy salsa with mango. Do call in. Great service too from Brian.

We popped in here for lunch on our way back from holiday. We both had one of the lovely fresh salads followed by chocolate brownies. Both were great value for money and super tasty. Whether you are plant-based or not, if you like good fresh food, this place is hard to beat.

The best vegan brownies we've ever had anywhere...scrap that...the BEST brownies PERIOD. We went back for seconds after getting halfway down the road! So good I'm writing this review minutes after leaving the cafe! Delicious! Super cool owners too. We will be back 😊😊😊

Tasty fresh vegan sandwiches, paninis, soup, salads and light fluffy (best I've ever tasted) vegan quiche. Loved it so much I've visited two days in a row! My husband requires gluten free and had a lovely gluten free 'pizza' panini. So pleased to have this available in Barnstaple. We'll be regular visitors now. Friendly owners too. Highly recommended.

Delicious fresh vegan food in Barnstaple. Really enjoyed a sandwich with two side salads for lunch, then took home some light fluffy vegan quiche and salads for dinner - perfect! Friendly, welcoming owners too. And soon they will be opening for evening meals - count me in!

Went for lunch and had the New York sandwich (which every reviewer seems to have!) and the Buddha Bowl. Both were excellent - as was the coffee. They also have a nice selection of home-baked goodies, should your sweet tooth demand it. Lovely couple who made us feel so welcome - even though they had clearly just settled down for a well-earned coffee break. We love independent places like this, and we will be back again soon, so that we can run through the other items on the menu. Even if you are not a full vegan, please try this place. Highly recommended.

We visited for lunch today with our 6yr old. The staff were very friendly. The menu is a good size and has some real crowd pleasers - the New Yorker sandwich is particularly good! We also had a pizza panini and a child's sandwich. All the food is reasonably priced and the atmosphere inside is lovely. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

Visited today with my partner and our son, the staff were so incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was absolutely delicious, we had the new yorker, no moo garlic and salsa and a kiddie sandwich which were all amazing and ready super quick. Cake selection was also really good and we couldn't resist sampling the rocky road and cupcake of the day. I can't recommend this place enough and we will absolutely be making a repeat visit when back in Barnstaple.

Great, friendly service, very nice food and a good sized portion. The New Yorker sandwich was to die for. I've been trying vegan food for about five years now and this sandwich is the best no meat I've tasted. My partner had a Buddha bowl which she loved. I will definitely be returning.
