Good quiet place to stay with great breakfast and welcoming proprietor near to Lydney Only problem was my satnav took me to the local post office

Great location for what we needed. Clean, warm cosy room with en suite facility. Freshly cooked hot breakfast. Only drawback for us no lighting when we left the property at night, had to fumble our way down lots of steps to car park. Called owner who apologised and said he would put security lights on, they were on whe we came back. Need to make entrance to accommodation much clearer as we knocked on the wrong door which said "Entrance " but was locked. Overall a lovely b m b with a typical English tea room. Will definitely return. Host Martim was fab 👌

We visited Swan House for an afternoon tea for our daughter's birthday. We were looked after extremely well by the friendly staff. The afternoon tea was generous and delicious. The highlight was definitely the wide selection of homemade sweet and savoury scones. The bacon and blue cheese scone is delicious!

Visited with my wife and both our Mothers for an afternoon tea treat. On arrival although having booked a table for 4, they had only laid up a table for 2. This meant a table for 4 had to be hastily arranged and has we had preordered the Super Deluxe Tea, we were informed that there would be a bit of a delay in delivering the tea. We accepted this and waited, when the Afternoon Tea arrived it looked fantastic and all the diners commented on how tasty all the elements were, well all that we were able to eat. As there was a large amount of food, we took a good part of it with us to take home. Part of this included a scone selection (2 each 1 savoury and 1 sweet), when we got home the scone selection did not quite match the order, so I think1 of the scones was not what we ordered (the white chocolate and raspberry), we had a fruit scone instead, we obviously didn't realise this until we were home. Overall it was a great experience, however due to the slight issues referred to above, I have marked this review down to a 4.

I treated my friend for a birthday treat we had the super deluxe afternoon tea, which had savoury and sweet treats. They 2 ladies that run the tea room, were very friendly, polite and was happy to answer any questions we had about the tasty wonderful food we had. I had a wonderful coconut and lime scone which was delicious, much so I had to buy a treacle and raspberry and white chocolate one to take home. Which I could choose frozen, and was given a warming advice from the lady. Can't wait to return for my next afternoon tea 😁

I stopped at this beautiful welcome little place sometime last year with friends and have been meaning to write a review as myself and my friends came out buzzing after eating here. You walk in and you are welcomed by the loveliest people who make your experience warm and special. We first went in and chose some scones from a menu that was a menu full of delicious sounding recipes that made my mouth water. I have tried the cheese scones, rhubarb and ginger and lime and coconut. I struggle to choose now because they are all the most delicious scones I have ever tasted in my whole life. My friend's favourite was Blue cheese and bacon. I have also taken friends in for afternoon teas for their birthdays. Now here’s where it gets to the point of bliss. We could hardly have a normal conversation between the noises we made enjoying every little finger sandwich, wraps, scones and fancy little cakes that looked like treats you would get in a top restaurant that serves afternoon teas in London. This lovely little place, the warm and friendly staff and their delicious food is everything. Everyone needs to experience this place.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Swan Inn. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to the lovely tea rooms. Fantastic breakfast, the best we’ve enjoyed for a long while. Martin & Maureen made us feel very welcome and there was nothing that was too much trouble. Arranged taxis for us back and fall to the church and reception. We had a lovely time and would definitely go back again. Well done to all the team, keep doing what you’re doing.

What an amazing place to enjoy an afternoon tea. We chose a savoury deluxe afternoon tea but could have had a sweet option too. The food is delicious, sandwiches, large choice of sweet and savoury scones with sausage rolls, mini quiches, cheese straws, cream cheese cornets all served with china cups and saucers and unlimited pots of tea. The staff are welcoming and friendly and so attentive. Would definitely recommend for any occasion or celebration event.

We stayed overnight. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful setting. Lovely room with comfortable bed, good shower and plenty of tea etc. Breakfast was delicious and very filling! The afternoon tea looked fab although we didn't have it - there are sooo many different scones!

What an absolute Gem Lovely rooms, renovated to a really high standard, with everything you could need for a cosy stay. Martin provided transport to the race course (concert), which was so helpful/convenient. Breakfast was brilliant - nothing too much trouble. We will definitely be returning very soon. Just had the most loveliest afternoon tea with my Mum !!! This has to be one of the best homemade teas I have had. Everything made in their own kitchen and served today by the fabulous front oh house team, Richard and Martin ❤️ There is the most amazing scones to choose from… a scone menu no less, the bacon and stilton ones were just WOW!. If anyone one happens to be visiting the Chepstow or Lydney areas or even passing through . I totally recommend that you stop by for lunch or tea .

Lovely converted listed building that has been lovingly and beautifully restored and renovated by the owner himself. Offering traditional and cosy, clean accommodation and a breakfast to keep you full all day for exploring the surroundings and a traditional cream tea awaits you on your return. Would definitely recommend and return ourselves when visiting the area again.

We had a delightful stay here for 3 nights bed and breakfast in the ground floor apartment. So clean and everything we needed for a quiet stay. Definitely recommended from a fussy person!

Really poor experience. Went for brunch and the mushrooms were cooked like leather. I would have raised it with the staff but once our food was delivered we didn’t see them again. I mentioned it when we went to pay having sat there hoping to order a coffee to no avail and got a shoulder shrug type response. Was looking for a regular brunch spot but it won’t be here.

Once again we had the most amazing afternoon tea at the Swan Tea Room! We prefer savoury and the selection of pastries, scones and sandwiches was mouth watering. We also had a sweet tea and the cakes are exquisite. Biggest selection of sweet and savoury scones we've ever seen and they come out warm and melt in the mouth. Excellent and friendly service as well and The Swan is now our go-to place when we want to treat ourselves!

Myself and my partner decided to get away for a couple of days to relax after a stressful month . We couldn't have chosen better.We were running ten minutes late so rang ahead because we really wanted a cream tea and they kindly kept the kitchen open just for us.The scones were excellent,and they cater for gluten free too. When we arrived Martin the owner gave us a choice of two rooms which was very kind ,so we chose a first floor room so that we could have the better view.The rooms are very nicely decorated , comfortable and spotlessly clean , they are small ,but Martin has done an unbelievable job of renovating them in such an old building .Martin then looked after us in the morning cooking and serving breakfast,which was excellent with lovely local produce! Nothing was too much trouble and we wouldn't hesitate to drive down from North Yorkshire again when we can.Highly recommended.

Visited for afternoon tea. Friendly greeting but as the rest of our party were late, the waitress was constantly coming over to the table and talking continuously. Were not asked if we wanted a drink until after 30 minutes. Waitress and other staff were whispering and pointing at us. Limited food on the trays. Weren't given a choice of sandwiches and despite having a voucher for 2, tried to charge us £107 for tea for 4! Had redeemed voucher but contacted by the manager later that evening to say the voucher was not valid as had already been redeemed. Disappointed and won't be returning.

My husband surprised me with an afternoon tea at The Swan House tea room for our anniversary. It was absolutely fantastic. The whole experience from start to finish was wondeful. The food was delicious especially the sandwiches and home made scones. The ham sandwich had proper cooked ham it, not stuff out of a packet! There were 15 different choices of scones too including fruit, plain, lavender, rhubarb & ginger, cherry, white chocolate & raspberry, blueberry & lemon, cheese, roasted pepper & feta, cheese & onion, blue cheese and more! And they were warm! All baked on the premises. The staff were so friendly and helpful, an absolute pleasure to deal with. You must go! If you're thinking of booking or going here you really must. You will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to go again when we visit the area. Also, the rooms are worth a mention too. Really beautifully designed and tastefully decorated. Next time we're staying! Just come home after having a wonderful afternoon tea here! The sandwiches and wraps are great, the sweet fancy cakes are great with the Easter twist to them! But it’s the scones we come for and have to try different ones each time! We tried cherry, fruit, treacle and a savoury one of Brie & bacon! These were amazing! Last time I think we had raspberry & white chocolate and lavender scones! Got to try something next time! Service was great and staff were wonderful! They even had an unusual visitor pop down the chimney when we were there - a jackdaw- clearly headed straight to the kitchen for his scones!

I can’t say enough just what an amazing place the Swan House Hotel and Tea rooms is. Set in pleasant surroundings. A very warm welcome and everyone there is so friendly. I had afternoon tea here a few weeks ago, then this weekend we returned and used our Buy a gift voucher to have a 2 course meal with wine. We chose Steak pie, with mash and a selection of veg, followed by lemon & lime pie with vanilla ice cream. I couldn’t fault it. At last a restaurant that knows you oven bake short crust pastry, and not microwave it , as I’ve come across on so many other occasion. The main meal was served piping hot & very well presented, the dessert was delightful, not too sweet and very tasty. We will definitely be returning to enjoy more of their delightful menu. Do yourself a favour and try this amazing little tea room, you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely delicious deluxe afternoon tea, 6 of us for a belated Christmas treat. The scones, both sweet and savoury, are 10/10. The other goodies, again savoury and sweet were all spot on and all homemade to perfection. And the service was so friendly and attentive. I advise anyone to go, you won't be disappointed!

We chose the Swan House Tea Rooms for a 40th birthday afternoon tea. It was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were really friendly and there was a huge selection of both savoury and sweet treats. All home cooked. The home made scones were delicious, I loved the rhubarb and ginger ones. Would highly recommend and will be coming back, thank you.

I had my baby shower here today, and I cannot fault anything that the girls done! Lorraine was fantastic and kept in communication with me the whole time, down to the finer details, they matched the china and the details of the cakes to the theme! They were very accommodating with allergies and the different dietary requirements! The food was absolutely delicious! We had a range of sandwich fillings, my favourite was cucumber and mint jelly! They made different flavoured scones which were a hit! Honestly couldn’t fault anything that they did for us all! The guests all made comments on how amazing and delicious the food was, very well presented! The building is beautiful outside as it is in! I would highly recommended the afternoon tea to anyone!
