The Farmers Arms in Forest of Dean

Visited this lovely country pub many years ago when it was very popular, it had good management, the food was excellent... then that management left and new managers arrived, was very disappointed, cheerless staff and food average... now roll on to 2024... after some friends had visited and commented positively, visited lunchtime today and was not disappointed, the pub has been refreshed, with new decor and furniture.... the menu was traditional to suit most tastes, the food was reasonably priced and well presented... the bar... its Wadworths....recommended!

Lovely food and drink. Nicely busy.

Stopped on spec on way back from Cheltenham races. Nice traditional family run pub with comfy chairs around log fire in the pub side and roomy dining area too. Busy enough for a Tuesday night. Enjoyed well cooked steak meal. Warm welcome. Look forward to stopping off again.

Great place to walk to from Malvern, and usually a nice selection of well kept beers on the bar This year's beer fest was nice and chilled, with enough beers to be interesting. Well worth a visit or three.

We ate here for the first time having had a bad experience under the last management. We were glad we did as the menu was exciting for a country pub lots of imaginative dishes and reasonable prices . We had the starters rather than a pudding and they were all very tasty, and all freshly prepared. The mains quickly followed and again you could see they were all freshly prepared. The linguini was plentiful and loaded with chicken and chorizo a generous helping and very tasty. Two of us went for the special loin of pork which came with veg, the cabbage was delightful lightly fried and totally delicious. The new potatoes were in a very nice creamy sauce but did taste a bit reheated rather than freshly cooked but overall the dish was nicely presented and enjoyable. It only lost one star because of the potatoes but that could just be an off day or me being over fussy about the taste of potatoes.

Second time we have been here….the food and service is excellent no question about that !! But oh dear I hate sharing my lunch with dogs. I know pubs have to accommodate dog owners but this particular party let the dog lie in the pathway thru to the tables and the waitresses had to keep dodging it…as did customers leaving the pub…the other dog kept barking….so selfish. I don’t mind dogs in the bar area better still outside but not in the restaurant. The owner of the pub also kept stroking a dog then on to serve food at the tables. Go again….not sure.

Popped in to look at the Sunday menu, ended up staying for the £5 (homemade) burger deal. The Sunday lunch looked great and tasted better and the service was excellent!

Family of 4 away on holiday and all had a really enjoyable meal. Glad we chose this pub out of all the ones near us, even though we did accidentally drive to another pub of the same name first! The vegan lime and chilli burger was especially good. Portions size was very generous and at a reasonable price. Staff were all friendly and a nice atmosphere, building and decor. Only negative I would say is that there's no kids menu. Could do a 9" pizza, fish and chips, Mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and chips all fairly easily. In fairness they did say the could make some dishes smaller for kids but having a menu would be easier.

Best Sunday Lunch in Herefordshire and Worcestershire!!

Lovely country pub with friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Food was simple and done exceptionally well and the beers and ciders were well kept. The deck outside was a lovely place to chill after a long day hiking.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere and unbelievably good food. Service was very efficient and friendly. Restaurant is a lovely space with plenty of room between tables and relaxing decor. Can't recommend highly enough.

What a fantastic stop-over this pub is, now it has EHU for at least one Campervan. A couple of well kept real ales, the usual 'fizzy stuff' crackin' menu for every day, super Sunday Lunch, friendly owner & family. I can thoroughly recommend this pub. An exceptional Country pub

Went there for music festival this weekend great music but we order drinks for our party and had to put a £5 deposit on a wine glass as the young lady stated to me it's in case you steal it or break it charmed I'm sure needless to say did not order food as might have been another deposit required for cutlery.

We stopped in for lunch and it was great. Service was attentive, friendly, helpful and the food was delicious.

Our party of 4 & our dog visited this beautiful pub/restaurant last night, unless you were looking for this place you wouldn't know it was there, beautiful surroundings. We had a fabulous meal, we hadn't booked but this wasn't a problem, we were made to feel very welcome. Excellent quality food, with varied choice on menu, we chose the Pork, the line & coriander vegan burger & two beef burgers and they were fabulous, we also had sourdough bread with oil, and a bowl of olive's as a starter. Will definitely visit again, this is a gorgeous hidden gem.

Sun was out, views from the garden were amazing and such were our meal. Fish cakes are Huge but tasty and the new chef’s Pork chop special was exceptional. I’d go as far as it may well of been the best pork chop I’ve ever eaten - Crusted in a season that was absolutely beautiful to eat.

Not been here for a while...the pub went downhill a bit. But what a lovely surprise, on walking in we were greeted by a charming young lady and shown courteously to our table. The pub is bright, clean, with well spaced tables... loved it !! The food was not just plonked on the plate but arranged pleasingly....,don't mind paying a bit extra when care of that sort is displayed. Thanks will certainly come again.

Good pub with outdoor seating. We showed up without a booking and the staff were very accommodating in sorting a table out for us to eat. Very busy during dinner time on a Saturday night. Food was really good and decent sized portions. Very buzzy atmosphere with the locals. Parking out front if you need to drive. Clientele is a mix of all ages. A bit off the beaten track but worth visiting for food if you are in the area. Lovely countryside surrounds the area.

Can’t recommend this pub enough! Came here for a Friday lunch with friends whilst staying nearby. The food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and informative. A good selection of beers and ciders and the coffee was great too! Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in the area!

Went for a celebration meal with extended family. Nice old pub and very good food. Staff friendly and helpful, although we had pre ordered our food we were able to order extra starters with no hassle. The pub got a bit noisy when the local young farmers group arrived but nice to see these youth groups thriving. A great evening and a lovely pub.

We were in the area so popped in hoping for a Sunday lunch. It was fairly busy so we were grateful that Tom could squeeze us in and we were very glad that he did! Myself, partner and 6 year old son had a really tasty Sunday lunch in what is a really nice, friendly pub. We had the beef, pork and lamb respectively - lots of roast potatoes and carrots, fresh green beans and mangetout, creamed leeks, cauliflower cheese, extra pot of gravy and trimmings for each dish. Good sized portions and reasonably priced. It is well off the beaten track down some little lanes but worth getting too.

What a gem of a place, hidden away down a little lane. I went for a Sunday roast but I was apprehensive that it may be very busy. It certainly wasn't, it must be a very well kept secret! So often meals are either generously portioned but there's little taste, or delicious food but inadequate portions, but not so here. Delicious food and generous portions, and that is from a very greedy diner.

Clean and large country pub. The exterior is old whilst the interior looks fairly modern. Came here for the Wednesday night quiz, which was very entertaining, £5 entry and some nibbles for every table. Well worth a visit for the quiz alone.
