The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving Japanese food

Attentive staff, nice atmosphere and good sushi. Plenty of unagi (eel) which we love! Delicious fresh seaweed salad. What a treat to have a Japanese restaurant in our local town!

While the A La Carte menu looked amazing, we opted for the highly affordable £25 lunch menu, of three courses. Also opted for a glass of fizz each. Service was impeccable, and the chef’s sushi started was spicy tuna and prawn hosomaki, impeccable and delicious, with some kind of beautiful green caviar as embellishment. Mains were teriyaki chicken noodles and katsu curry, the former was great and the latter’s sauce was like no katsu I’ve had before, fruity, sweet and spicy at the same time, but no one flavour overpowering. Dessert was doughnuts with Nutella and those little Mochi(?) rice ice cream balls which were both delicious. All in all a great and affordable lunch.

Ib have been gong to Umami regularly for a while now. There is a new menu now and I think new oners. the food is always delicious as it was on this visit. Very friendly staff too. A hidden gem at the bottom of the high street. Worth making the trip.

Éramos una familia de 10 incluyendo niños más pequeños. Todos encontraron algo en el menú que les gustó. Toda la comida era de alta calidad y el personal servicial y servicial: no es fácil cuando se trata de una gama de gustos peculiares y las necesidades de un grupo grande. Excelente comida en este restaurante bastante pequeño pero pintoresco. Servicio muy amable, comida de gran calidad. Fue el mejor sushi y sashimi que hemos probado en años. Trae tu propio alcohol o haz lo que hicimos que es comprar a la vuelta de la esquina. Los platos del barco en la parte posterior del menú eran de gran valor. También puedes pedir una olla extra de salsa de chile, que si se combina con el dip de salsa de soja, es increíble.

Great japanese food in Walthamstow. Amongst the best I had in London Refined flavours in a nice new restaurant. I recommmend it.

The food is delicious. Wagyu beef burgers for the kids, teriyaki chicken burger for me, absolutely divine. Great ambiance, staff welcoming and friendly, really lovely. Happened upon by accident but will be back for the miso pork and entire dessert menu.

Shambles! Don’t order takeaway from here… waited 2 hours for my order and it never turned up. Phone line disconnected so can’t contact them. They apparently use their own drivers so tracking is unavailable. So now after 2 hours having to make other food arrangements! Seriously don’t bother worst experience ever

Excellent takeaway from Ohayo this evening - mostly tuna and salmon sashimi, nigiri, rolls, but also edamame and tempura. Lovely chap took our order. Will definitely order from Ohayo again!

This place is so underrated. The food is really good and is a decent price. This is my favourite place to go for Japanese food in Newbury by far. The chef really knows what they're doing.

Amazing food and a brilliant experience watching it be cooked in front of us. We all ordered different and no one was disappointed. The chef, Julius Ceasar was really lovely, funny and totally made the experience. We’ll be back and will recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Manchester!

Really great food and service. We had the tapas starter (battered chicken, fried octopus balls and pork gyoza), mixed sushi platter and a beef gyudon. All delicious!

Upon arrivals, we were brief with several bottomless rules including only one drink per person at any one time and the last order will need to be placed 15 minutes before the end of the 90 minutes from the start time. Some of us ordered sushi and only given soy sauce without wasabi, when asked for wasabi, it took a while to arrive leaving us unable to start eating the food. Wasabi should automatically be served for sushi! The rest of the food was okay, nothing impressive. The drinks were slow to arrive, taking a painful 10-20 minutes each time. They deliberately keeping drinks at the bar to slow things down, we were left without drinks most of the time. We called the manager after we saw him making a hand gesture to the waiting stuff to stop serving us drinks. He implies that between 4 people we have had 24 drinks and no longer can have anymore despite we still have 20 minutes left within our timeslot. Another manager also suggested that we must drink responsibly and its his responsibility to ensure that! We were not loud nor behaving inappropriately, just 4 ladies in 40’s and 50’s having food and drinks. I have visited Katana Peterborough 6 times in the last 4 months, but this is the first bottomless brunch here – NEVER AGAIN nor that I will return again.
