We went to the Izakaya restaurant at the bottom of Park Street. The food was delicious and the service top notch! Despite me accidentally booking a table for the wrong day, the staff managed to find me and a friend a table. Food was piping hot and so yummy! The pork ramen was my favourite and the broth so creamy. The only downside was that there was a lady sat on one of the high stools who was playing a show out loud on her phone and then she started facetiming someone and was really loud. I think this should be monitored. Other than that, we would be back.

Best Japanese in town? Genuinely suspect so. Quick, unfussy, fresh, light, good value and authentic. There are restaurants which try to be the real deal and don’t do a bad job but, even though this won’t be as Instagrammable, I doubt its food can be bettered. Yummy.

The food is acceptable for those unfamiliar with authentic Japanese cuisine. It's essentially a Chinese-owned restaurant disguised as Japanese, using the name to capitalise on its popularity. It is falling well short of capturing the true flavours of genuine Japanese dishes. Any true Japanese person will tell you that it doesn't come close to the authentic dishes they prepare themselves in Japan. On top of this, the service was poor, with the staff being uncommunicative and rather arrogant.

If you want a fast version of Japanese food this is the spot for you. Ordered their Beef Niku Udon and a beer. The broth was bit salty for my taste, the beer was served warm. Not once did any of the 4 or 5 employees check to see what I thought of the food. But they did have time to talk amongst themselves about menus at other restaurants. Food was ok. If the service were more attentive, I’d add a star.

Absolutely fabulous Japanese meal out with family. Pre booked a group of five and we ate inside. Ate fairly early and by the time we left place was rammed. Big menu and covered our veggie and gluten free needs. Went with two children too who really enjoyed it. Every single dish was delicious. We shared the veggie and regular tapas style starts which were amazing. Between us we tried a lot of dishes and had sushi, udon, salad bowls and puddings. All of it was absolutely delicious and we were so happy to have tried it. Reasonable prices too, for such great food. Brilliant portion sizes and the taste was amazing. Order was quick and easy and the dishes arrived swiftly. Only downside was the toilet was not working and we were told to use the hotel over the road. Not ideal! But luckily the quality of the food and range of dishes made up for this!

The food was not served warm, and the broth was a tad bland. Overall, it was quite a mediocre veggie meal. The veggie options are quite limited. I think potentially the meat options could be better. Having spent 5weeks touring Japan, I’m happy Bristol has a Japanese restaurant to remind me of my time there. Whilst not quite providing that intimate feel you get from izakayas in Japan, the food and service made the experience a lovely visit. I had a salmon sushi set with a Kirin Ichiban (“number one” or “the best”) larger. The beer paired well with the sushi set, cleansing the palate of the soy and wasabi after a few bites. The sushi was fairly fresh, more so than sushi from the premium supermarkets/convenience stores you find in Clifton. There was no fishy flavour or smell, just what you want when looking for good sushi. Whilst it appears a little pricey, the salmon set with a larger is good value for money. I’d recommend for solo for small groups looking for a quick bite to each whilst roaming Bristol.

I spent two weeks in Japan last month, and I can say that this is really a lovely Japanese restaurant in Bristol. Great ramen and udon, kind staff, and clean dining environment with air conditioning provided in this hot weather. The green tea ice cream tastes also very good. If icy drinking water is served that would make it even more like an authentic Japanese restaurant! But even without that, I’m satisfied with what I’ve got at Izakaya 🥹

5/5 experience everytime we come here. We've been coming here over the years and still have yet to try their Clifton branch but we love this place and think they sell the best Japanese food in Bristol. Their food taste so authentic and are always packed with flavour. I always recommend their okonomiyaki skewers or their tonkotsu udon (I think this has been taken off their main menu now and is now a specialty and comes on the menu every now and then....Izakaya, if you're reading this, please bring it back) and if their tonkotsu udon isnt available, I would get their Tuna Poke which is probably the best tuna poke in Bristol! The restaurant is a bit small and intimate and everytime we walk past, the restaurant always looks so full! - Which is a testimony of how good their food and service is :) So i always recommend booking!

Great service! The vibe of the place is very nice, the chairs were fairly comfortable, and the food was AMAZING, the menu also had so many different options, I came for the ramen, but unfortunately they only had pork which I couldn't eat as a muslim, despite that, they were super enthusiastic about making a chicken ramen work, by using the broth from a different dish, and they even offered us 2 broths to try and taste to see which one we want on our ramen, and were even afraid of us not liking it, but it tasted amazing! I didn't want to rate Izakaya five stars, as then everyone will know just how amazing it is! But since we decided to dine there twice on our long weekend in Bristol, it's definitely worthy of the five stars. First up, the atmosphere is cute and cozy, with Japanese artwork on the walls and a nice breeze coming in from outside - I often get too hot in restaurants so the temperature here was just perfect. The waiting staff were incredibly sweet and kind and couldn't haven't been more attentive and lovely. We ordered quite a feast with my other half going for a Katsu curry and an oyakodon for myself, alongside a selection of sushi and sides. Every dish was cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. It was clear that real love, care and attention to detail goes into all the dishes and even the bowls and plates used were beautiful, which made our meal feel very special. The oyakodon was sublime! My other half sampled it for the first time and declared it so good, we returned the next night so he could order it for himself in a case of food envy! Everything else was also absolutely delicious. On our second night we tried the croquettes which were deliciously crispy and bursting with juicy shrimp. We washed everything down with some cold, crispy Hitachino beer which complemented the food beautifully. I'm sure we will be back to Izakaya on our next trip!

I came here because I read through the excellent reviews and thought it was going to be a great new find, but how wrong was I.... My husband had the ramen and I had the gyuudon and neither are what we expected. The ramen was bland, and the gyuudon was greasy and the meat was not thin strips of beef as you would expect. It was more like shredded beef out of a can. I had a few bites, and I didn't finish it. Two waitresses came by (separately), saw that I barely touched my dish, asked if my meal was okay, and I said to both that it was not good at all, but no reaction. Here's your bill, thanks for coming. Needless to say I won't be returning. Not only was this place overpriced for bad food, but there are plenty of infinitely better Japanese restaurants in Bristol, including Wagamama, which used to be rock bottom on my list and has now been replaced by this place.

Not a great experience. On arrival our booked table was already available but when we sat down we noticed iit was dirty so we had to ask someone to wipe it. The food was ok, nothing special. I suspect it depends what you order. The tapas were nice - gyoza, pumpkin croquettes, salmon mini sushi rolls but the mains were not the best - we tried teriyaki chicken, katsu chicken, and oyakodon. Katsu sauce not the nicest, teriyaki lacking in flavour. Generally the chicken in the dishes didn’t seem good quality and one piece of the chicken karaage definitely looked undercooked. The sushi platter delivered to the next table did look good, as did the poke bowls, so I think if you stick with sushi and tapas then it’s probably ok. Service was fine and we didn’t have a long wait for food, restaurant itself seemed a bit lacking in cleanliness but that would have been fine if the food was really good as it is a street food restaurant. Just a shame it wasn’t better - disappointing overall.

make sure to reserve before coming because it gets crowded! reservation gets about 1h 15 min of eating time, i got the salmon sashimi don for 15£. salmon slices itself was nice and fresh, though i found there to be too much rice for the amount of salmon given, left with too much plain rice. perhaps offering a teriyaki sauce on the side? gyudon was tasty

The food is very average. Nothing awful but nothing particularly good either. You can do better. The tent outside is warm enough but a bit of a mess. Given that it's there every day it would be nice if they built something a bit tidier.

Very tasty authentic food! The service was efficient and staff were pleasant, food was also served fast. We were able to book a table online and the email responses were quick and we managed to tailor the booking to be able to sit indoors on a busy Saturday night. We definitely recommend booking in advance!

I visited the Japanese restaurant Seven Lucky Gods and was quite satisfied with the taste of the dishes. The fried potatoes were especially delicious – simply amazing. However, there are a few drawbacks. First of all, the menu doesn't indicate the portion sizes, which makes ordering a bit difficult, especially when you're with a group. Additionally, the portion size of some dishes doesn't match the price. For example, for £7, we received a very small piece of fish, which was a bit surprising. It would be great if the restaurant could address these issues. Also, keep in mind that the service charge is included in the bill. Otherwise, everything else was great – nice atmosphere and tasty food.
