Had a drink there the only problem the toilets were not very clean

Waited 45 minutes for breakfast. 1 meal was missing and another meal was cold . A very disappointing experience.

Very nice place for Japanese food, it has change a bit since last time I was there, the menu changed, but it’s still very nice and chilled. My friend booked us a table here just to have a nice evening together, the food was good. Drinks was very nice, prices were good.

Do not recommend! Seats were very uncomfortable, food took a long time and had items missing.. Staff also very rude when we mentioned items were missing? Only good thing was the aesthetics.

The atmosphere is nice but the quality of food is low for the price, always having a bad tummy after Nomu and cocktails are a way too sour with a smallest amount of alcohol. Can't imagine myself to come back to this place again, unfortunate.

Nomu is running a Hong Kong restaurant during lunch times right now. Its not really advertised yet but I think its daily except for Mondays till about 3:30 pm. Very good! And one of the only HK food options in town. Hope its made permanent!

They have just started doing Hong Kong style breakfast and lunch. Absolutely amazing food! We had french toast and char sui pork with sunny egg and rice. The French toast would give any Hong Kong cafe a good run for their money and the char sui pork was simply amazing, superb flavour with just a slight hint of crispiness on the edge. Also genuine tasting Lai char ( milk tea). We will be back to try other things on the menu. It's so great to have good quality Hong Kong food in Bristol. Along with Great Bunnies Hong Kong bakery things can only get better for all Hong Kongers in the area. And if you are not from Hong Kong you must still go and try the amazing food. We wish you continued success. In the photo I had already started to eat my food before I remembered to take a photo!

Mainly is a bar with very a good selection of cocktails. Pop-up restaurant (not the old Nomu anymore) with mainly fried small dishes amd not sushi. Crab croquetes were surimi and not crab. Reccomend for drinks only smd friendly staff

Really delicious meal here with the Unagi pop up kitchen. The food was so delicious and the portion sizes were generous. The waiter hosting us did a great job as we were a large group and he was by himself - he was so accommodating and friendly! You can get jugs of beer from local breweries like Lost and Grounded which comes out to 4 pints for around £5 each. The interior is decorated very well too.

I love the food here but I called 5 times to book a table but they didn't answer. So I spent 40 minutes walking there to get a table. When I finally got there they said the kitchen is closed. I wouldn't have wasted my anniversary walking here and ringing my day if they had just answered the phone. I am never coming here again!

I was worried at first when I found out Nomu had switched from in-house kitchen, to pop ups. I shouldn't have been. The unagi kitchen food was incredible and very quickly delivered with high quality. We had a mix of veggie and meat and they were all cooked to perfection, and the sauces were flavourful. We ordered two cocktails on arrival which also hit the spot, but weren't able to order another two without going up to the bar. The restaurant was moderately busy so understandable, but would have been nice to have another. Overall, however, a great experience and would recommend to anyone.

Restaurant is pretty but food was inedible. I’m not too fussy but it was extremely salty and did not eat most of it due to this. Bar man nice and friendly but large family (>10 people and small kids) showed up that were friends with him and crowded noisily in the front of the restaurant and were not paying customers which took away from the nice atmosphere.

Used to be my fave place to eat out but its completely changed to a "pop up" kitchen. What was amazing selection of healthy sushi is now a standard Japanese fusion where most things on the menu are deep fried so far removed from the original menu. The food was OK, katsu curry was quite spicy wouldn't really draw us back again real shame to loose what it was!

It used to be a quite good Japanese restaurant in Clifton, but now they have changed everything including menu. Interior looks more brighter, but seating is not comfortable. I don't think you like the idea of seating on a stool when you go for a proper dinning. Secondly, Menu is totally disaster. There are not many options to select in mains. It's very limited and feels like a set menu. No prawn cracker or any sort of condiments. Why no prawn crackers??? No more Dessert menu. Only option is something rice with ice-cream. Overall they have downgraded their restaurant alot and it's not a good experience. Only positive thing is food quality is still same.

Nomu used to be a one off place ,always busy with delicious food and great atmosphere.I would always introduce my friends to this place and they would be spreading the good word to their friends... but now it's a real shame to see this place so empty and their menu butchered ( all the lovely pictures of food you can see on google is the old menu ) . I've heard it from so many people...wouldn't go back unless they bring the old menu back. I feel sad having to leave a bad review..this place has so much potential

Second time I have eaten here. Accommodated us for a table tonight at the last minute and food was just as consistently great as the last time (I don't like fish/sushi but plenty of alternatives, the chicken karrage, veg tempura and beef teppenyaki are delicious) Really good food and cocktails and as an added surprise they offer 25% NHS discount on a Tuesday. Great and speedy service, can't wait to visit again soon!😋 **Edit - This place was SO SO good, whhhhhy have you since changed to pop up???!!!! Bring back the old NOMU pleeeeèease 🙏

I have always loved Nomu but sadly this place isn’t what it was. Came in to a ‘pop up menu’ instead of it’s usual menu of amazing food. We were asked to wait for a table, despite it being pretty empty inside. A good 5-10 minutes before being asked for drinks. Fingers crossed the old nomu returns!

Nomu used to be great, full and buzzing. We went on a Wednesday night and it we were the only people there. Despite this they struggled to find a second tea pot. They had one gluten free vegetarian meal and it was nice, but I'm sad to see an end to the old menu, which was great.

Had a decent/mediocre meal previously but came on a sunday night and had a terrible “korean fried chicken deal”. The portion was minuscule for £15 and the dish was essentially glorified chicken and chips.

Popped in for an impromptu post theatre drink and thought it would be rude not to have a wee try of the food from pop up vietnamese kitchen Wok n Roll! I am still lamenting the loss of my fave sushi place in Bristol but so glad that the cocktails are still incredible and that the new format for food will give us the chance to try a variety of new things! We had Char Sui Banh Mi, Char Sui Rice bowl and shared Bang Bang Tofu, which was actually banging! Portions pretty decent for the price, altho i could have done with more fries with my Bahn Mi, they were seasoned really nicely with asian spices but skimpy portion. The new decor in Nomu is fresh and uniquely cool. Overall I would say the vibe is still relaxed n friendly and still a great gem in the area that will keep us travelling across from the other side of the city when we can for a treat.

Food was excellent, some of the best Korean fried chicken I've had outside of Seoul. Service was a little slow but the staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended, would come again.

The sushi was light and fresh, the staff were very friendly and helpful, it isn't cheap but no complaints!

Lovely food in a trendy, warm environment

Great spot, local to us so we've been a couple of times now. The Valentines dinner last night was delicious, lots of great cocktails to go along with it, and the staff are always super friendly. Can't wait to head back!

We were due to visit Nomu for our work Christmas party, but unfortunately the covid cases were soaring and we thought we would have to cancel. In fact what we decided to do, was to bring Nomu to the office! Ken and his team were utterly amazing at accommodating the last minute change of plan. The kitchen made up a wide variety of different plates - sushi, temaki, sashimi, and even crackers and dips. The food was insane and not one bit was left over. I can't recommend Nomu enough! Cant wait to come and sit in the restaurant next time. Thank you Ken and the team for making our Christmas meal great! See you soon, Nathalie

The dishes aren't authentic and have really bland flavor. Totally avoidable in case you want to try traditional Japanese or Korean food.

Despite being a Saturday and very busy the staff at Nomu were lovely, nothing was too much. Knowledgeable about their menu and friendly. The food was full of flavour and the cocktails are well made

Tried Nomu for the first time and was not disappointed. The food and service were excellent and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The hours don't reflect when the kitchen is open to. Went there for food but was too late to eat unfortunately.

If only I could give zero star, the food was not good at all. Won't recommend it.

Really enjoyed my first visit to Nomu. Had a bunch of small plates. Particularly liked the Dynamite Rolls. I'll definitely go again.

My favourite Japanese in Bristol! Me and my partner took our friends here to share a few small plates and it was such a great experience. Would really recommend any of the sushi.

In terms of value for money.. couldn't have picked a more enjoyable venue and food. Drinks and service were prompt despite being booked up. Staff were lovely. Looking forward to next time already.

Great service, great food and great cocktails

Had a great experience in Nomu, all of the staff were extremely friendly & the service was top notch. The food is decent prices and great cocktail & small plates/sushi deal. The cocktails are also really nice - I had the Thai Daiquiri which I would recommend. The kaarage, duck futomaki, pork gyozas and chicken tonkatsu were all really tasty! The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that the tofu fries had no heat (spicy) to them at all and the squid didn't either. That being said I still liked the tofu, squid probably wouldn't get again. Look forward to visiting again and trying more of the food. (and cocktails!)

Been to Nomu a few times and really like it here. 2 for £10 on (same) cocktails before 6.30 is a great deal and there is a great range of cocktails on offer. Food is really very good and they can easily cater for dietary requirements/ fussiness, I think it's generally freshly cooked (I asked for no onion in the noodles and dairy free because I'm allergic, no drama, they catered for it with no problem. A friend previously was gluten free and that was fine too). Service is good and prices very reasonable. Would totally recommend trying this place out.

Delicious food and great service!

Had a takeaway last night from here, food was unbelievably slow to leave the restaurant. Advocado fritters were very very bitter. The tofu teriyaki was lackluster, and tofu had just been thrown in on top of some veg. Beef dish was alright. But won't be ordering from here again.

A good restaurant with decent food, however be aware slightly small and the food is more Chinese takeaway than Japanese bar.

First of all, compliments to the chef, even though there were a couple of meals that were not really my cup of tea, the flavours were excellent. When we were seated (unfortunately beside the toilet, but it was busy, happens), the table was really dirty and sticky, I couldn't lift the napkin up because it was stuck to the table. Previous tables drink marks were still on the table as well. We were told that we get the table at 18:45 but we will have to leave at 20:30 the latest which was reasonable, but when we were seated at 18:50 the waitress didn't come for a good 15-20 minutes at which point I went to the bar part where they were chatting and I asked them if it was table service or I had to order there. The waitress came, we asked for starters, mains and drinks; the starters and the mains came at the same time unfortunately (which we did not ask for). She came back to do the check on our table, asked if we needed anything and one of our friends asked for a fork, and I was going to ask for some things too but she left in a hurry after she gave it to her, so I was left there hanging. We asked for 2 separate bills which was efficient and when we asked for the bill it came really quick. All in all the food was good, the guys were friendly and smiley, but the tables dirtiness and the subpar service brought the experience down. Prices were reasonable too. Not living that close, so we don't really plan on going back. 6.5 - 7.5 / 10

Wonderful staff, delicious and very tasty authentic Japanese dishes. Would highly recommend it to all those who enjoy Japanese food.

We turned up as a large group of twelve midweek and were amazed at the quality of the food and drinks. The bartender was highly skilled at making delicious cocktails for our large party (which were strong, and 2 for £10 before 18:30). The food was delicious, we had sushi as well as Udon noodles amongst other starters. The dynamite rolls deserve a particular mention for being absolutely incredible. I don't regularly review restaurants on TripAdvisor, but I felt that Nomu was especially good. I am already booked in for next week!

Fantastic Japanese. Just look at the picture for the food. Staff are warm , friendly and efficient. A few tables outside - we got lucky out of lockdown, walking in from the street. Will be back. Warmed sweet plum sake recommended with noodles!

Very pleasant roadside dining on the ever popular whiteladies road. Friendly staff, good mid-range Japanese food including sushi. £50 for 2 including three small dishes each and 4 drinks.

We have eaten at this restaurant before and loved it. However, this weekend we got a deliveroo and it was extremely disappointing. The app did not say if rice was included, but I was glad I ordered another as the portion provided was tiny. The teriyaki itself was very small and quite tasteless. The fishcake noodles were also very uninteresting. Overall, quite a sad experience.

Fantastic restaurant! Great service, the food is fantastic (I had the black pepper tofu, which is so tasty!), and a wonderful selection of interesting Japanese whiskies. Just wish I lived in Bristol so I could make myself a regular here!

Great atmosphere and lovely food

I have been to Nomu a fair few times and have always been a massive fan of the food. I decided to go for my birthday and take 5 of my friends ( the 6 max rule). We arrived pretty much all around the same time. We were not greeted by any staff. We were not asked if we wanted drinks once, 15 minutes later I managed to finally get the attention of one of the staff. She took a drinks order and the drinks arrived in a reasonable amount of time. We decided to order some nibbles for the table as the service appeared to be very slow and we were all very hungry. The restaurant does not seat that many tables and they did not appear to be overly busy. In my opinion if you cater for a certain amount of tables you should be able to cope even if they are all full. We eventually managed to get a waitress to take our food order after trying a fair few times. At this point we were all quite confused at how bad the service was becoming. She took our order and eventually some of the food came out. 4 of the guests had half their order whilst me and my partner received nothing. ONE HOUR PASSED and we were still not given our food. Everyone else had finished. We asked where our food was only to learn our order did not go through. They came over the take the order again and we waited a further 30 minutes before we got our food. The last dish came out at 9:30 ( we sat down at 7:30). My partner and I had to eat on our own and his food came out even later than mine. Not once is anyone come back over to ask if we wanted more drinks. We felt like our table was completely neglected. My partner spoke to the manager ( nobody even bothered to come over to say they were sorry for what had happened) and he asked what could be done about the experience that we received. The manager explained that he was only willing to take the drinks off the bill. I then decided this was not good enough as we had received a shocking service. I explained that we were severely disappointed and that we had not had anyone explain to use why our order had not gone through. He then explained that it did go through but that there was only one lady in the kitchen on the sushi section. He said he was understaffed and that he did not expect to be this busy. I appreciate these circumstances however, bearing in mind it was the night before lockdown you would expect to be very busy and this is also not our fault. I also understand when you are short staffed that it can be difficult however if someone had come over to the table initially and made it clear that service was slow that evening, we would have taken that into consideration. He also did not budge on giving us any discount off the bill. Maintaining a good relationship with costumers like myself who have returned to NOMU time and time again is important, especially when you are supporting an independently run business. It is safe to say they quite frankly didn't care. We will not be returning and we hope that NOMU improves their service for further costumers.

We usually go somewhere else for sushi ... but decided to try something different, I don’t usually like doing this, but I was so glad I did!! It was AMAZING. The service was absolutely fantastic, all of the staff seemed actually happy!! If you live in Bath or Bristol and love sushi and Japanese cuisine, Nomu is a must. Even for those that may not have had any experience with raw fish, this is the perfect place to try. Super delicious food; far too easy to eat. I happily could eat here daily and not get bored.

Bit difficult to book. It has to be done through the owner either by phone (I had no success at this) or email and so ended up booking by email and that worked well. Really nice variety of food something for everyone although not quite sure on gluten free options probably need to ring to ask about that. I had a Udon noodle dish which was lovely and not spicy! If you don't like spicy food and love bubble tea this place is for you! It is always very busy though so be aware book in advance.
