Amazing food, good service and reasonable prices. We paid £25 a head for a starter, main and drink.

Maybe I was not lucky on the day. One star only for the girl who is the bartender. On Sunday 20/10: 3 of us came in, the waitress brought us to the table, no greeting. There were 3 tables customers only. 4 people worked in the kitchen, 1 waitress and 1 waiter. 1 bartender. Ordered with QR code online. Then the waitress told my friend her sushi was sold out, fine and she changed another sashimi, then it also sold out. Okay, finally my friend orders arrived. I thought maybe I ordered fried pork took time, after another 20 minutes I started to look for the waitress. (The waitress and waiter keep standing in front of the kitchen to chat. Hard to find them.) Finally after another 5 minutes she came and said she was going to check, came back and just said: “ oh sorry, the chef miss the order “ and left. Say sorry but not really feel sorry. I chased her up and I would like to cancel the order if it not start to cook. I could not let my friend to wait another 30 minutes. No response from her and she left. We all felt very odd and annoyed, just wanna pay and left. Again hard to find waiters, after another 10 minutes the bartender helped us to give us the bill but the problem was we still needed to wait the waitress for the card machine. We waited more than 5 minutes, Come on, there's no one here to take care of customers whole night. We all stood up took on our jackets and one of the chef saw us and told the waitress to take the card machine came. Only bartender say good bye. The bad experience I ever had in UK! Blacklisted. P.S: Food tastes average, small portion. Raw fish is not fresh. Sunday night around 6:30 Ashamed of being Asian. Because the most polite people in the whole restaurant are the foreigners at the bar. Four people worked in the kitchen, a male waiter and a female waiter, all Asian. At that time, there were only three Taiwanese customers in the entire restaurant. My friend and I went to the restaurant with a group of three people, and the waitress took you to your seat and left without saying hello. When we saw the sign on the stage, we asked ourselves to use the QR code to place the order online. Later, the waiter came and told his friend that the sushi he ordered was sold out. He had no choice but to eat sashimi instead, but it turned out that it was sold out again. Finally, the dishes that my friend ordered came to the table one after another, but the fried pork chop I ordered never arrived. In the end, I waited for 25 minutes and started to ask the waiter. It is very difficult to find the waiter in the restaurant all night (because they only gathered around the kitchen to talk). After 5 minutes, the waiter finally found me to check, and he replied: Sorry, the kitchen missed the order. Then he leaves. I had no choice but to chase him and ask him if he hadn't cooked yet, I wanted to cancel the order. He left without responding. My friends and I were all stunned. At this moment, we just wanted to pay the bill and leave as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anyone, and we wasted another 10 minutes. Finally, the foreigner in charge of the water bar gave us a bill, but he said that we had to wait until the waiter found the card machine before we could pay the bill. The three of us had no choice but to stand up and put on our coats. Finally, one of the chefs in the kitchen saw us and called the waiter to pay the bill. My friend ordered pork belly ramen, fish sashimi rice, and the sushi and fish ball yaki as seen in the photo. The taste is average, the portion is small, and the fish is not fresh. Worst service ever in a meal in the UK. Blacklisted.

Had lunch here multiple times. I like this place so much that it’s a must visit whenever I come to Bristol. The waiter is super nice and friendly. The food tastes very good. Would highly recommend their bentos and their salmon belly don.

Great food provided, worth the price

We were looking for a good Sushi restaurant in Bristol, this one came up highly recommended on multiple search’s. It’s a little gem of a restaurant, very busy and very good ambiance. There were a good mix of couples, first dates and families enjoying meals. There’s not much staff interaction as you order of a QR code, so not much banter which is a shame. The food arrives very quickly and is absolutely delicious, fresh and lovingly prepared by the chef. It is also very reasonably priced for the quality and we were surprised by the total cost being so cheap. We will definitely return as it was one of the best Sushi restaurants we have visited.

Such lovely service tonight. So friendly and smiley. And then on top of that - absolutely outstanding food - as usual. Kataffi prawns were new to us - really delicious. The bao buns are always unbelievably mouth-watering. Salmon and Sushi Bento Boxes were so fresh and tasty. Gorgeous miso soup and jasmine tea. Love the seats in the window. Thank you for a lovely family evening out.

Genuinely the greatest restaurant of all time. You’ll be foolish not to go and eat if you’re in Bristol. It’s more exciting than the suspension bridge.

We ordered 2 salmon bento boxes, yaki ramen, maki and chicken karage. The food was tasty other than the karage chicken which was not crispy and a tiny serve -£7.15 which we think was overpriced. The other serves were decent. The photo is less 1 piece of chicken which my son consumed before I could take the photo.! It was late 😁

Great food and service. Situated on the top floor of the shopping centre. Very busy but quite basic and a bit dated on the furniture/ ambiance but don’t let that put you off , the food is great. ordering which can be done online at your table

Amazing experience, genuinely such fast service! Order food and it comes minutes later, everything tastes delicious. This is my second visit to this place and I've loved it every single time! Great variety, affordable prices and cold drinks! A hidden gem of Bristol, would recommend a visit!

I was taken here by a friend who said the sushi was quite good and the restaurant is in a nice area of Bristol. When you arrive they give you a QR code to place your order - this is shared across the table so you can all put in your order and submit it when ready which was a really cool and efficient system. I ordered the Salmon Bento which was delicious - sushi was fresh and well made and there was a fair amount of food for £14.50. It also came with Miso soup which was also tasty. My friend ordered the Dragon Roll along with a Salmon Temaki. The Dragon Roll looked really really good and they don't skimp on the Tobiko (fish roe) or size of the rolls. I'll definitely get that next time! Only one small drawback is that they didn't bring our food at the same time so I was sat there for a while waiting but I suppose due to the ordering style they just send dishes out when they're ready. Overall I'd 100% recommend Bento Boss - lovely staff, decent prices and very good fresh sushi.

Travelling from Toronto, Canada and were staying nearby. Based on reviews, we tried Bento Boss. The chicken gyoza, ramen, and pho were excellent quality. Service was great and food was quick. Highly recommend.

Best sushi ever. Delicious food, polite, friendly and efficient service and great atmosphere in a lovely casual restaurant setting. What more could you possibly want? Staff are helpful and the menu is easy to follow. Would highly recommend to both regular sushi lovers and sushi virgins alike.

Me and my partner have been coming here ever since it opened in Bristol. I get the same thing every time; chicken katsu bento and we share crispy fried chicken gyoza and battered agadsahi tofu. My partner is more adventurous, often ordering the sushi/sashimi; I like these too but prefer 1pc to 2pcs, not the 12pcs or 24pcs+. ...And it is still my favourite restaurant in Bristol. It's just that good. I'm a creature of habit, sure. Am I an NPC in a simulation? Maybe. Do I order the same thing wherever I go? Yes. Should you check out Bento Boss? Most definitely. Don't be a fool. Eat your fish raw. Thank you, Bento Boss ❤️

Bit of a hidden gem this one. Great quality food.

Really great quality of sushi they served here and probably one of the best I had in Bristol. The staffs were friendly and the dining atmosphere was cozy and authentic with Japanese Izakaya features inside the building. Definitely a great place to ease off stress on a Friday night! Will visit again :)

Good v fresh & tasty, service v kind & willing - but the place needs a deep clean & fresh decoration - especially v off-putting stairway entrance smelling bad & a grim grubby introduction. Great location with super picture windows to watch bustle below so has everything going for it apart from that feeling of hygiene & sparkle

This was a recommendation from a friend. My friend couldn't have recommended me better. Everything in here was 5 stars, good, environment, service... Even the app to ask for food allowed you to ask to clean table, ask for cutlery and something else. So impressed, so good!

The good: The food The prices. The bad: App ordering – Covid is over so let’s return to normal please so that you can keep up with the other restaurants in Bristol. The ordering process is an absolute chore. The service: majority of the waiting staff seem half asleep. Mains arriving when others have finished. Eating alone is awkward. Same when drinks arrived when whole meal finished (and which were ordered at the same time as the food). The noise: this is, perhaps one of the worst factors, there is no noise tamping and when the restaurant is full, you have to shout at one another across the table to stand any chance of being heard. It’s just horrible. Please please please get some acoustic ceiling rafts. Put your hand in your pocket to significantly improve the environment.

We ordered a bento and it was tasty but the salmon bento had two small thin slivers of salmon. Used to come here when it was a larger piece. Now it’s more expensive and less amount… guess it’s a sign of the times but not great for customers. The rice was a little disappointing, it’s not sticky Japanese rice and seemed dry. Don’t come here if you’re expecting authentic Japanese - it’s more of a fusion and the rice isn’t the same. Service was great though but probably won’t come back for a while..maybe just for sushi rolls.

The best kept secret in Bristol. Superb fresh food fast ! Friendly staff . Definitely in my top 3 in Bristol . Have the mixed sashimi , the spicy miso soup, the eel sashimi, and the dumplings on top and it costs nothing.

Booked for my partners birthday but not very welcoming, no table reserved, no effort made to find a decent table. Shoe horned in down far end of a galley behind some kitchen equipment and left there for 10 mins. Wouldnt normally mind if a quick stop for food but other tables were available in restaurant area. No effort made to tell us how to order qr code /bar or table service. Staff seemed to have an issue when I requested we sit elsewhere. Shame as really wanted to eat but left and had a lovely meal across the road in a nice vietnamese instead. Not spending money in a place that so disinterested in their 'new' customers. Not impressed! Love Ramen/Sushi but prob wont go back in a hurry.

Food was amazing, ordered: - egg, tuna, and squid sushi - dragon sushi roll which was really impressive - california roll - duck, and chicken satay bap bun - crab dumplings Couldn't fault a thing. Really friendly service, food served with a smile.

Superb Asian restaurant with the top view of white lady Road! The bento box is of massive volume including beef, rice, salad and fried vegetable. The salad is really an innovation that mix the sea weeds and rocket. The Ramen is also wonderful delicious with very rich soup and fabulous pork chashu. The entrance is a bit off street. Just follow the sign to the train station and the look left.

I sometimes worry that I won't get enough to eat at a sushi place, but with the sushi bento box I got as much sushi as I could eat, for less than 15 quid. I like how it feels tucked away, but then you get to look out over the people below and imagine you are on an airship. Great place. Amazing food and lovely staff!

13 pounds for miso soup, salad, and two rows of sushi, so slightly pricey and i would say much more worth going physically to eat than taking away. sushi was quite good! salmon gimbap roll was a little dry

Friendly fast service, tantan ramen is amazing

One meal came out 15 min after the other person's witj no apology. The wakame salad had 90% lettuce almost no wakame and I asked for more, they took it to the kitchen and brought me the same with no added wakame. The miso soup came after we finished eating. The place is nice with big windows. The rest of food was delicious. Customer service poor

Me and my friend booked a table and were seated by the window which we love as you can people watch. The service is very good they are friendly and always check/explain the menu to make sure we order gluten free / dairy free items. The miso soup, veggie sushi assortment and salad were all delicious. Total bill including a soft drink was approx £13 which is such good value.

I order salmon futoten and mixed nigiri sushi, it is fresh, nice, in Sunday afternoon, the restaurant is not busy,staff is very friendly, I will come back again.

Seaweed is literally not ready to eat. This is not properly prepared at all and just sprinkled on top of my salad. Also, the quality of the vegetables was not great. Sushi wise... Just I would not pay £17 for this. One-time experience is more than enough for me. If you are an Asian, find a different restaurant.

Today I was in this restaurant with two other people. On the whole, the room looked fine and cozy. Well, when we ordered, we actually liked the options on the cell phone and that each person could order under their name. Then when the food came, we were confused. For the first time, we ordered sushi with Philadelphia and salmon and expected that as well. It also arrived that way, but only with avocado in addition. But that was not mentioned on the menu. That was awkward. Additionally, we ordered bao buns, one with duck and the other with chicken. The two were served on one plate. It was not initially explained to us how this was to be eaten and that this plate had duck meat and chicken meat, so both orders were brought on one plate. After we asked, the server informed us that one was duck and the other was satay. Since we thought that our order would come separately on two different plates, it was eaten ahead of time as we never expected such a thing. It is extremely strange to see two orders of people (even if they ordered almost the same thing) served on one plate and then not explaining this in advance. This was not all. We had to ask about 3x that we wanted water. In addition, we noticed afterwards that an order that was made on the cell phone was not ordered at last, although we ordered that. Last when we wanted to pay, we had the option to pay cash or with the card. We wanted to pay cash separately. This again was not possible because the waitress did not have change even though I gave her 15 pounds and my bill was about 13 pounds. So many things were complicated and actually many employees were working and there were not very many guests in the restaurant. Finally we decided to move on and eat somewhere else. Unfortunately an unpleasant experience. So many little things that could be improved.

I visit Bento Boss nearly once a month, or maybe even more often. They offer great food, fresh fish, and generous portions. Perhaps this place isn't known for its interior or atmosphere, but it's one of those places where you go for good food. The delicious sushi is the reason why this place is always bustling. You might need to book a table in advance. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for good food.

This is the worst restaurant I have ever experienced! The table need to be cleaned and in return a spray gun was used to the soup! This is a crazy worker without any apology! Avoid!!

Food was average- not the best but price was very reasonable. Very large piece of eel given with the eel don so happy with that.

We visited on the off chance today for our anniversary as we happened to be passing and had heard good things. Between us we had a sushi bento box, a chicken katsu bento box, chicken kaarage, squid, duck and satay bao buns and yasai gyoza. All of the food was excellent and the Bento boxes were great value as they came with miso soup and the portions were very generous. The bao buns were fab; fluffy and full to the brim with fillings. Our only criticisms would be the electronic ordering system- would have much preferred a paper menu, and also the fact that the drinks didn't come out until half way through the mains.

Pretty much paying the rent here at this point. Always a favourite when friends are visiting Bristol. Food is EXCELLENT! Always a great atmosphere and never overly hard to get a table if you don't mind waiting a few minutes.

Really disappointed in my experience where I had dinner last night with Bento Boss. We reserved a table, we got there in time and our table wasn’t made like it usually is, there was no cutlery and no napkins. We ordered our food and the starters came in 10-15 minutes, however we didn’t have any sharing plates/plates to share our starters/side dishes. We asked for the sharing plates and it took us ages to grab servers attention, she shocked that we already haven’t gotten them. We ordered another round of drinks and 20 minutes passed, we still didn’t receive it. Keep in mind we asked 3 times and no one remembered to serve us. We asked again politely and the woman who came to the table just looked like she hated her job and was rude to us. 10 minutes later the drink arrived. The food was ok but the service was appalling. Please, if you’re going to be busy, hire more staff. It was not super busy last night so I don’t understand why the service took so long and the waiters looked like they didn’t want to be there.

Good place for Japanese and oriental food.

We have been struggling to find decent asian food in Bristol. This place serves fusion asian, it’s mostly japanese dishes like bento, don, sushis, sashimis, rolls, ramen etc… but also a few staples from other countries (pho, nasi lemak…). Service was pretty fast and quite friendly, food quality good and portion big enough, while overall price was satisfying. Would recomment and will surely go back to try more dishes. Such a shame they only open for lunch on weekends.

Absolutely no awareness of allergies or intolerances. I went here with a group of friends yesterday, and I'm intolerant to soya. I appreciate that is difficult to accommodate in most Japanese restaurants as the food is usually soya based, but I told them this and they assured me they could make my food without soya (the vegan sushi bento). The food arrived, and I realised some of the sushi had tofu in it which is of course soya based. I told the waitress this, and I also asked about the salad which I'd already eaten some of before realising it tasted like it may have soy sauce in it; after going to the kitchen to find out, she informed me the dressing is in fact soy sauce based. To their credit they were nice and friendly about it, and they did re make the sushi and salad without tofu or soy sauce/dressing, but the fact they gave it to me in the first place when they'd reassured me there was no soya is unacceptable. The sushi and the salad were nice even without the tofu or soy sauce, but I now feel sick, presumably from eating some of the salad before double checking about the soy sauce. Thankfully I noticed the sushi had tofu before eating it. If they could not accommodate my dietary requirement they should have just told me, which I was half expecting, and not just given me soya anyway and made me sick. Additionally, a few people in the group received their food a lot later than everyone else despite ordering at the same time - the others had already finished eating. I would not recommend this place to anyone with any kind of food intolerance or allergy.

Tasty food. I loved the view from the restaurant window. I had the vegan bento box. The salad in it was delicious, there were four cucumber maki and 6 larger rolls. The wasabi is hotter than other wasabis! Take care.

I have been recently here with 2 people, this is by far the most Asian food I have ever had in the UK. It is presented like they normally do in Asia, it smells like Asian street food and the taste is strong and tasty like food in Asia. I'll go there again. Highly recommended

Amazing real salmon sushi and teriyaki sauce was perfect

We ordered salmon bento, salmon donburi, duck bun, chinese tea, and some ice cream for dessert. Everything was tasty! My husband especially loved the duck bun and I loved my bento. Looking forward to come back and try something else on the menu.

You can't enjoy a meal out if the service is so poor. Waited ages for orders to be taken, then they made a complete hash of our drinks order, and made half of us wait for the main courses whilst the others almost finished theirs! The food was unexceptional so I won't be returning anytime soon.

This place is great! Staff are very nice and friendly and the food is excellent and takes me back to being in the Far East. Even has a drinks robot running round the place. We had the Crispy Duck Bao and the Goji Berry Beef Sirloin Bento Box. Both were delicious and served quickly. Will be going back for the Ramen and Donburi.

Ordered a few side dishes which were all lovely. Reasonable price and food came out quick. Enjoyed the garlic and coconut rice dishes, along with the spicy edamame. The cleaning robot was a fun addition.
