The stir-fried assorted rice noodles have the taste of a Hong Kong tea restaurant and the gas of a wok. The ingredients are very fresh. I just saw this restaurant while passing by on the train. I really wanted to eat Chinese food, so I went in to try it. It was a pleasant surprise and the staff was very friendly. Politeness👍😋

Gorgeous ramen meal - I had seafood one with the rich soup, it was full of generous fish portion - prawns, mussells etc. Lovely presentation and the friendliest service. Thank you!

We went to Ramen Zen to make use of a good Groupon deal and we're really pleasantly surprised. A cute little venue serving good honest food with fair pricing. Staff were friendly and grateful. Service was good. We would return and happily give them full price business again. It may not be the best ramen in Bristol but it's worth a visit to enjoy the food and show some support for local business.

The price is a bit on the expensive side considering the location, but considering how good the food was me and my friend both said it was worth it. I’ve seen a review say the tonkotsu (pork ramen dish) was fishy? In my experience it wasn’t fishy at all, it tasted quite garlicky so if you're not a fan of garlic steer clear, but I love garlic so this dish was lovely. Service was great - employees were very nice and polite and food came quickly. I could tell the takoyaki I ordered was made fresh. I personally liked the atmosphere, I’m not a big fan of busy restaurants so I enjoyed how chill it was there, and I particularly liked how they had a tv showing how each of their dishes are prepared, Asian captioned cooking tutorial! Nice addition in my opinion. The only thing that nearly went wrong was when me and my friend split the bill, the employee accidentally forgot to put a decimal at some point when calculating so I would have ended up paying about £15 more than I should have, but I made sure to point it out and do the calculation on my phone to show what I should actually be paying. She took it very well and apologised, and was very nice about it, we’re human, we all make mistakes! So if you notice a miscalculation just kindly point it out, but I don’t think this happens often in the restaurant. If you really want to avoid the chance of this when dining with someone, let one person pay the bill and just transfer each other the money owed after. For the location it’s in, I’m thankful I have a place that makes very well prepared asian food near me at a fair price - which I think a lot of people are forgetting when writing their reviews…don’t come in expecting a gormet style restaurant in dodgy Horfield 😅

Starting off with the fact that we found good parking directly in front of the restaurant, was the first green flag. Then we were asked where we’d like to sit which was lovely. The waitress was just amazing and made us feel so at home. The starters were bao buns and chips , both such generous portions and were very delicious. For starters we ordered the Eel Rice and Pork Ramen which again was a generous hearty portion and tasted mouth wateringly good. I am definitely visiting this place again!

We ordered chasiu ramen in miso soup and katsu curry with rice. Service is efficient and food was delivered very quickly. Katsu curry is full of flavour with potatoes fried in small good sizes. Very recommended if you're looking for authentic Japanese taste.

Would rate food (5/5), like I did with service and Atmosphere if they had some gluten free (*GF) indicators on their menu. Or gluten free soy. (Which can be bought in any super market). I ordered some sizzling rice noodles (with oyster sauce), hoping none of the other ingredients contained gluten (wheat) - and only a very mild headache the day after... maybe not the food... :) Anyways... delicious!

The service was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food came quickly. The starters, especially the karaage chicken, were excellent. However, the roast pork soup ramen which is the main dish we were keen on was bit disappointing. The soup had a slightly off flavour. The pork is bit over cooked. I saw someone else had a comment on the dishes smell fishy even though they are not seafood. I can see why that person said that as I experienced the fishy smell too but I don’t mind it as I like seafood. In addition, due to its location, I’d expect price to be lower than average. But it’s about the same as those on Gloucester Road closer to centre. Overall it’s definitely a restaurant well worth trying and see if it ticks your taste bud. I’m glad I tried but I’m afraid I probably won’t return.

I came here for celebrating my friend's graduation ceremony. It was so impressed to us. A warm welcome from staff who were very helpful. Especially, Sue who were lovely, friendly, caring and attentive to us. About food, I ordered Chicken Katsu Ramen as I really love broths here. It is not salty, it is so creamy, flavourful, incredibly delicious. Besides that, I also highly recommend seafood ramen. It is so delicious and Takoyaki in here is the best ever I have tried in Bristol. I will definitely come again.

We’ve had a few lovely visits to Ramen Zen and would definitely recommend. We loveeee the salt and pepper chips and the fried rice is another personal favourite. Our hostess Sue was super kind and attentive too! She helped accommodate for allergies and vegan preferences which was really helpful and made the experience that much nicer. Thanks Sue!

Bland; is how I would describe this place in one word, shocking would be the second! The food honestly tastes of nothing, it all smells fishy but we had no fish. We ordered the katsu ramen and pork ramen and it was the most boring unpleasant dish. To add to our ever so "joyful" experience instead katsu ramen we got katsu rice, which to their credit they went back and changed and then while eating the pork ramen their was what looked to be and long string of tooth floss looking material in it, which once again to their credit they did make another. Further to this I would compare the 'katsu' chicken to a fried birds eye chicken breast. They had a rolling video showing katsu chicken and the two did not compare in any way, it was chewy and once again lacking of any flavour. It was clearly a frozen peace of chicken they had stuck in oil to heat up. To sum up eating here I would highly suggest you avoid at all cost if you manage to get the correct order you will only be extreamly disappointed to the taste, texture and smell of your 'meal'. Instead of going here get yourself a pack of instant noodles as it will taste 10/10 compared to this establishment. You can cook better yourself than here.

This Japanese restaurant is little gem - small & unique the decor is nothing to special a bit dated looked clean & cosy - but the service & food & price were all Excellent - We will definitely be going back here to eat in the near future.

Popped in to Ramen Zen last night and had some lovely food. The staff were really kind throughout but especially when my young daughter got a fish bone or something hurt her when swallowing (probably trying to eat too quickly!). The team were really kind and gave her a soothing bottle of Mogu Mogu.

Filton's Hidden Gem is worth discovering and trying with free on-street parking outside the venue. You can disregard the unassuming frontage and area that may initially dissuade you from entering this friendly establishment. Plenty of seating in a clean, tidy, and well-decorated venue. Enticing aromas hint at the deliciousness to come. Friendly service by a helpful lady. The easy-to-read food menu offered a good variety of tasty starters. Smaller listed options of mains for Ramen and Rice dishes made the hard-to-choose mains a little less overwhelming. The soft & hot drinks and dessert menu could have benefitted from more options. Both opted for fizzy drinks - good size quantities were given. We enjoyed our excellent starters of pork Gyoza and Pumpkin croquettes. Portions were great. We both opted for ramen dishes; pork and seafood - The ramen meal was beautifully presented, in brilliant size portions all tasting sublime. Left contented by that lovely feel of being well-fed. We recommend this secret delight that is in plain sight yet easy to miss as a worthwhile discovery offering excellent food at great value.

Today ,I've order Chicken Katsu Ramen with Miso Soup and Pork Katsu Ramen with Tonkatsu Soup. Both nice and yummy. Even waiting for the delivery around 25 minutes, the Chicken and Pork still crispy and hot. The Tonkotsu soup taste so fresh, not too salty. I will order another difference dishes again next time.

Came here for an early dinner with friends and the service was incredible. We arrived exactly when they opened for dinner. We ordered chicken katsu ramen and pork katsu ramen. For myself, I had a pork katsu lasksa ramen (special) as I love spicy broths. It was so creamy, flavourful, and the curry 😍 As for the tonkotsu base… wow! the depth of flavour is incredible, salty and umami. I would definitely recommend coming here! Had dinner here with my family and we loved the food and the service. The ramen broth was tasty, the noodles very nicely cooked (so important for good ramen!). My toddler liked the tempura and I appreciate that the rice they use is authentic Japanese rice (so delicious!). The gyoza had a yummy filling, although we honestly prefer our gyoza steamed (not quite sure if they offer this option so will try on our next visit!). Met the owner and he and Natalie were so attuned to the needs of the customers. Looking forward to our next visit!
