A great little Japanese restaurant. The food is lovely and reasonably priced, there is a bewilderingly wide range of options (the menu is a minefield for the indecisive 😏), and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you like Japanese food, you shouldn't be disappointed. It's a very small restaurant, with only seven or eight tables. This does also mean it's cosy - there is (by necessity) not much space between tables, so it's not an intimate dining experience. Kazoku is rightly very popular, so you'll need to book well in advance. They also do take away. They deliver, but it often takes a _long_ time to arrive (2h+ is not unknown) so order early. The food has always tasted better when I've eaten it at the restaurant, though - I don't know if this is purely psychological :-) _May 2025: Quick update - we visited again recently and it was clear that the volume of take-away orders they were trying to service was significantly impacting their ability to maintain a reasonable wait time in the restaurant. I had to wait the best part of an hour for my food and my dining companion had nearly finished her food by the time mine arrived. Also there is a constant stream of delivery drivers walking into and out of the restaurant, which is fairly disruptive for such a small premises._

Quite possibly the worst meal we’ve ever had. Sloppy Paella with lumps of fat, not beef. Steak was a lump of fat. Seabass was a tiny piece of fish covered in some cheap sauce. Calamari was awful. Drinks and service were fine. Will never be returning and recommend everyone to steer clear.

Absolutely the best sushi place in London! All the ingredients are incredibly fresh and delicious. The staff is kind, and the restaurant feels cosy and calm. I definitely want to come back again soon. 🤩😋🍣🍱🍤🍛🥟🍙 Kids love Udon, tamago sushi, fried tofu sushi, gyoza, Tori-kara age and pumpkin Goloke. I enjoyed wakame salad, Il-ma sushi deluxe and udon.

Food was excellent, brilliant atmosphere and VERY welcoming staff. It was the first time I have tried this type of food and my wife and I celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary there and were offered a glass of Prosecco each. They made this evening special for us.

I had to change the review I wrote 2 years ago as my recent experience wasn't a pleasant one. I have been really enjoying going to Koyo and often find staff friendly. The boss Alex is very nice and very pleasant to talk to. So I went there again with my friend recently, on Saturday 10 May, and was served by a rude young man. I politely pointed out that my friend may find the high chair by the bar uncomfortable and asked if we could sit on the table if no one was there. Instead of responding to me in a polite way, he told me to feel free to leave if not happy. I was really taken back and I never had such experience before in Koyo. There is a way to say things in a nice way, not to be this rude and arrangont. I have to say all othere staff were nice at that night but I am leaving this review as I wanted Alex to read it. Rude staff can ruin the reputation of a restaurant and this is true in many cases in the customer service industry. Perhaps the young man on rota in that evening coule do with more training on customer service and actually change his attitude.
