Great find, fantastic sushi and very attentive staff. 10/10

The staff are polite and efficient The menu is extensive incorporating bothe Japanese and Thai dishes. We opted for sushi to start with.. 12 pieces…of 3 different types. All 3 were delicious. Our mains were of Thai origin..once again no faults…washed down with draft Japanese larger… total was just shy of £70.00

Best Japanese food in Yorkshire

I visited with my friends this evening. We had booked a table beforehand and turned up right on time. I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed this visit. Customer service left much to be desired - we were rushed to order our drinks and meals. Because only two of our party were wanting starters they had to come together with our mains. Which personally over-faced me as I couldn’t eat everything at once and so I sadly I left a lot of my meal. Which is a shame as the food I did eat was delicious. We had two hours for our table and left with 40mins to spare. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be visiting again in a hurry.

TJ is a wonderful place with delicious food and an incredibly respectful and lovely staff. I am always impressed by the top-notch service and the delicious, well-prepared meals. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.❤️💕

My partner and I visited TJ Thai & Japanese Restaurant for dinner without a reservation, and we were pleasantly surprised by how well the staff handled our walk-in. The team at the reception was incredibly polite, friendly, and professional. After checking their booking schedule, they informed us that they had a table available for us, but it was reserved for two hours later. They kindly let us know about the time constraint upfront, which we appreciated. Given that two hours was more than enough for our meal, we happily accepted the offer. This level of care, especially without a reservation, was impressive and much appreciated. Once inside, we were struck by the beautiful interior. The Asian-inspired decor and ambiance really set the mood for a great dining experience. The service continued to impress us throughout the evening. When my partner couldn’t decide on a dish, our server took the time to ask about her preferences rather than just suggesting a random item from the menu. This personalized approach made us feel well taken care of. As for the food—simply amazing! The portions were generous, and every dish was delicious. Another detail that stood out was the attentive service; without us having to ask, our water glasses were refilled whenever they were empty. It’s those small touches that really elevate the experience. We had some leftovers, and the staff was more than happy to provide takeout boxes for us to bring the food home. While the prices were a bit on the higher side, the quality of service and food made it worth every penny. I’ve given this place 5 stars and would highly recommend it. Absolutely love TJ’s, the food is fantastic and the service is really good. Personal favourite dish is the screaming tiger and the sesame chicken. Can’t wait to come back!!

Would highly recommend this restaurant. We have never had a bad meal here. We do find the menu a bit difficult to read in the dark ambience, but the food is delicious. The seafood sizzler was a generous portion with lovely tender squid and the Larb starter was especially good.

Food excellent but there is a VERY annoying, loud door alarm that goes off every time someone enters the restaurant. It rather spoils the dining experience.

The best sushi I've ever had. Also ordered main meals which were amazing. Good portion sizes. Great value for money and good service.

A fabulous place to eat. The staff were lovely and very welcoming and the portion sizes just right. We were all really pleased and will return without hesitation.

Our first visit after being it recommended to us. Had pad Thai and can honestly say I've never eaten anything as bland and stodgy, think it was simply overcooked. I won't be returning.

Everything we ate was delicious - nothing I didn't like and I am usually quite picky. The staff were super friendly and the decoration was fun. Definitely will come back here again but it is a shame it isn't busier! Highly reccomend.

Popped in here with my boyfriend and his friends for some long awaited food. We were welcomed with open arms by the friendly, smiley staff. I ordered some sesame chicken and shared some chicken gyoza with Tom. The food was delicious - I have no complaints whatsoever. I polished it all off, leaving no more than a crumb. Everyone else at the table seemed satisfied with their meals too. The prices were also reasonable for good quality food. Our evening was made even more enjoyable by a little boy, perhaps the owner's son, who kept us entertained throughout the evening and even gave us some tattoos (with Biro pen)!

We’ve been regulars here for the last couple of years and will continue to be. The food is delicious (I’ve made my way through the menu many times over) and is very reasonably priced. The staff are polite and friendly. This is our ‘go too’ eat out place and I can’t recommend it enough!

First time last night will be back again ASAP lovely staff food brilliant and will go see mum not my mum who owns restaurant who has a stall on Huddersfield open market I believe was packed for a weds well done team tj!!!

Order food from this place and is absolutely disgusting 🤮, paid for chicken teriyaki and got rice and onions. When try to call restaurant a manager was absolutely rude, talk over me didn’t let me speak and didn’t resolve my problem with food . Paid like £50 just for a bit of rice and onions. I wouldn’t avoid going to this place. Service is absolutely shocking im speechless after a service a have received

Amazing starter which was the Yakituri chicken skewers. The main was Thai curry and I've had my fair share of these but the quality of this and power of the spice was excellent. The rice that came with the curry was sticky and of good quality. Only downside was the restaurant felt quite cold but I'll still give the maximum stars because they deserve it the portion size was also very respectable and deffo recommend. Will be back again with more people.

Booked Valentine's day weeks in advance. We got our starters which were good but small portions and over priced and then were sat for 30 minutes with no drink offers or dirty plates taken away. The table next to us who came after us by 15 minutes was served both mains and starters. We went to ask where the food was and it wasn't even in the oven. We paid and left after starters. Very disappointing for a supposed to be special day.

Come here tonight with my wife and her work colleagues to celebrate the new year! The food was unreal!! So fresh and great portion sizes. It was on the expensive side but you pay for what you get! The servants here were fantastic too! So professional and gave off good vibes. I really wish unlimited success for this establishment going into 2024 as they well and truly deserve it! Delicious food, reasonable prices in a well themed atmosphere. Staff are pretty well accommodating. An extensive menu with plenty of options to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. All the dishes we tried were delicious, recommend the pad prik sod. They had a nice looking sushi menu that I wouldn’t mind coming back to sample. Plus a tasty cocktail menu. All the dishes that were running to other tables all looked incredibly tempting too! Will be back

Fabulous, as always! Very friendly and attentive staff, amazing food and not overly priced (late Nov we spent £86 on 3 starters, 3 mains, 1, 8-peice sushi roll & 4 drinks, one of them alcohol) for the amount of food you get, it's really good value.

If you've never been to TJ's in Huddersfield, and you enjoy Thai and Japanese food, then I highly recommend you try them. Our all time favourites are Beef Massamam Curry with coconut and cashews and Pad Gaprow (Pork, chicken or beef) with fried eggs on top. Try it. You'll like it!

We had a great Thai/Japanese meal. We had a collection of starters to share all we really good, but the standout was the aubergines and satay guy. The sushi rolls we had for maon were amazing. All delivered with great service and at fantastic prices. Will definitely visit again xxxx

Shocking service in a half empty restaurant. Took waiter over 30 minutes to come and take a drinks order then when I complained verbally about this he did apologize saying they were busy however the restaurant was at 50% capacity. Ive visited this restaurant on numerous occasions since before COVID however I've noticed since then the menu has become extremely limited and Ive noticed the service has also declined and the cost of the food here doesn't reflect this accurately it's like 3/4 star quality with 1 star service. Will seriously consider not returning as I find this very disappointing

They have vegetarian options, very yummy ones! Fried aubergine and tofu pad thai are my favourite! Good service, good restaurant atmosphere and best of all - QUALITY THAI FOOD 👍🏽 it was a very nice midweek meal to have

Fantastic food and great service

I thought the food was fantastic. I had one of the Sizzler dishes my friend had the teriyaki, I also saw the Sushil coming out for other guests which looked amazing. I also had the chicken katsu for starter which was a 10/10. The price in my opinion was incredibly cheap, the service was fantastic, the décor authentic and I can't fault anything. I would even go as far as saying this is the best restaurant in Huddersfield. Would definitely recommend.

Food was not authentic comparing itself. After covid lockdowns, it got refurbished, looks good but servers not that kind than before.

Excellent service, generous portions of food. Tom Yum was rich and flavoursome, in fact the best I've ever had. I had seafood Tom Yum. The fried aubergines were also delicious. Value for money too as we had mocktails and the bill was less than I expected. Can't wait to go back 🙂

Very slow service, food is ok but overpriced.. portion of noodles is around £12, soup is around £7. Did not make me wow though ...

An overall lovely Thai & Japanese restaurant, I can't wait to go back and have some Thai food! This time I only had sushi, which was lovely. My only wish would be more choice of fish for the sashimi and nigiri. Friendly staff, nice place! Will definitely be coming back here whenever I can. Also very reasonable pricing! On my next visit, I dined on my own. I'm changing my review as I asked for the sashimi combo, and wasn't told there wasn't any mackerel or seasonal fish? So it ended up being just salmon and tuna, something I did not want. They did not tell me that it wasn't available until the food came so.... yeah.

This is the best restaurant I've even been to, they got some cute sushi's on the wall, they got some some cute sushi's on your plate and so many dishes!!! I've never tasted something there that I don't like and I'm not gonna stop going till I beat their whole menu, the best places I've ever eaten at ❤️ I love the TJ role, the spare ribs, the Yakisoba and all the katsu curry, amazing specials too!

Honestly phenomenal. We don’t live in huddersfield and we’re gutted not to, just because we probably won’t eat here again as we live far away! 😔 The foods amazing, if you’re a huge wagamama fan then you’ll enjoy the food here EVEN MORE! Staff so friendly and atmosphere great!

Staff attentive and very busy at all times. Food was superb, came out fresh and excellent tasting. Chicken pad Thai was to die for you, and the katsu chicken starters were so beautiful!

The service was an absolute horror on 2/3/23. Diners waited over 90 minutes to be served after pre booking & pre ordering. Food was tepid all the food arrived adhoc guests were eating whilst others waited 15 minutes. Staff failed to bring drinks after numerous reminders. They didn’t even have black pepper.. Run by amateurs that have no training in hospitality will never visit again..Ruined a celebration with sheer frustration and hunger..They staff clearly need training and management with experience to be on site promptly.

Delicious food - celebrated my 50th Birthday party with some friends. Their tempura 🍤 prawns were to die for! Ordered the screaming tiger, it could have done with a bit more seasoning as it was quite bland - even with the dipping sauce. Other than that the staff made us feel very welcome, we’ll definitely come back again.

Myself and several friends have now eaten here on several occasions after only recently discovering TJs. Each time has been just as lovely as the last. The staff are very pleasant, the restaurant itself is clean and has a nice atmosphere, but most importantly of all the food is brilliant! I can absolutely recommend that people try this place, especially if you're particularly fond of either Thai or Japanese cuisine.

Excellent food, great service, good prices. If you've not been this place is well worth checking out. Don't worry about Thai and Japanese being on same menu, both are excellent.

We showed up last Tuesday without a booking but we had an amazing experience and already have recommended to friends and family. I can't wait to call again but I'll definitely be booking a table next time as this place is a gem.

This Thai/Japanese fusion restaurant works well. The rolls are excellent with chicken and special tempura rolls enjoyed. A friend enjoyed a Thai green curry and Pad Thai. Further visits are planned.

TJ apparently has been around for some time but tucked away in a back street reveals a hidden gem. Looks can be deceiving but the basic appearance gives the traditional charm and ambience character of these good. Best Thai food outside of Thailand and equally best japanese food outside of Japan. Why do you need to travel to Asia when you can experience these food in Huddersfield. Service was very traditional. Japanese sushi was fresh and presentation was served beautifully. Decent portions. Very tasty. Value for money. We have been a few times since and will surely recommend.

Came here with my gf and after months of wanting to go managed to find the time. Service and food was exceptional! Sushi was the best I've had in a very long time cannot fault this place at all. Beautiful decor and a hidden gem in Huddersfield. We will be back according to my girlfriend every week until we have had everything of the menu

Traditional Pub, re -opened this year, nice selection of guest ales, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Needs support as we are losing far too many of our pubs.

Five stars for the food (lovely!!) and the service is fine. Downside: their website is not great and their online menu is really difficult to read. They want a £5 deposit per person when placing a reservation with a semi-large group of people. They are busy, so make sure you book. The sushi is amazing. They do give a time limit for your table, but it isn't unreasonable (like an hour and a half or something). They do close really early though, about 9-9:30pm.

Lovely sushi chicky rolls. Generous starter portions. The Thai red curry was delicious and it was the best pad thai noodle dish we have ever tasted. Seating a bit basic (you might need to take a cushion!) but fabulous food. Our second visit and we can't wait to return.

Came for a friend's birthday as a big group so we had a set meal that had 4 starters and 5 mains. Tried everything and it was all delicious. The staff were really helpful and were always there to help.
