Humo in Watford

Honestly, I rarely log in to Google to make a review - but Ray at Humo was awesome, and it needed to be said. The food was brilliant and the service… even more so! Ray recommended some delicious dishes, and was on point all round. Thanks soooo much Ray ❤️❤️❤️

Booked a table at 8.15 on valentines night with my wife. Didn't get off to the best start when the waiter told us as it was valentines they would need the table back at 9.30pm After ordering drinks we seriously consider leaving as that would only give just over 1hour. So I clarified with the waiter and it seemed he got his times mixed up and we should be fine to stay now. Our food was delivered by a waitresses who dump our plates down and walked off, wasnt impressed, the food was actually very good but expensive for what it was and you had to order sides separately. Meal and bottle of wine we paid £99. But the worst thing was music was loud so much so we couldn't have a conversation. Decided to skip dessert as we couldn't talk (was night club loud) I wouldn't recommend for a romantic meal and won't be returning shame as the food wasn't bad.

Food was amazing and the best service from RAY!!!

We actually mostly enjoyed our experience here except toward the end. We ordered from the 2 course Lunch Menu. I liked the grilled chicken wings and my fiancé enjoyed the sourdough. I didn’t particularly care for the bread as it was cold. However, we both agreed the chicken wings were delicious. We both got the grilled chicken sandwich, and it was okay. A little too much cheese for me (like it was drenched to the point the bread got soggy), and we didn’t really taste the chimichurri sauce on either of our burgers. My fiancé got the truffle mashed potatoes as his side, and they were decadent, but my side of grilled veg was somewhat disappointing as it wasn’t seasoned with anything. Not even salt and pepper. I ended up dipping them into the truffled mash so there was some sort of flavor. We opted to get a slice of the cheesecake and it was awful. I’ve traveled all over the world and have eaten all kinds of cheesecake. We read the reviews and everyone said the cheesecake was a must: it definitely was not. Could not have been more disappointed. When it was sat down, we noticed it looked wet. As if it was runny. Which, if you eat cheesecake, isn’t really supposed to happen. I took a tentative bite and instantly spit it out. It was sour, a lot like spoiled milk. My fiancé tried it and also instantly spit it out. I think (and hope) that we got a bad slice. We politely and promptly alerted the waitress, and she took it back, apologized, and omitted it from our bill. Unfortunately, because we were near the kitchen window, we could hear the complaining and rude comments from the chef(s) in the kitchen. After that, we decided to get the bill instead of trying the other lunch menu dessert. As we were paying, the waitress asked us what we didn’t like about the cheesecake, and I stated that I have eaten many cheesecakes (it is literally my favorite dessert) and have never had one so sour. She appeared concerned, but then when she went back to the window and delivered our feedback, we could hear the laughter and comments from the kitchen, and the waitress, as if we were purposefully intending to insult the chef(s). We put on our coats and as we were walking out, the waitress said something like “that’s them”. Not sure why we needed to be pointed out? We thought the rest of the meal was fine, but the experience toward the end made us definitely reluctant to come back. I was a waitress for 5 years and worked in food service/hospitality for 10, and would have never been so blatantly rude to guests. Talk shit once they leave, if you’re really so bothered, but not while guests are there. We weren’t disrespectful, high maintenance, or complaining about every aspect of our meal. We were never rude to staff whatsoever, so we’re both perplexed as to what could have caused such a rude reaction. To be frank, from what I know and have seen in my 10 years in the industry, the chef(s) could have tried the cheesecake that they were so vehemently defending and see what the guests are talking about. My fiancé and I were excited to try somewhere new, as we were spending the day in Watford, but we were extremely disappointed by the end. Maybe the night service is better, but I do not think we will be coming back to try it. We liked the atmosphere, as it was very chill. Good music playing, comfortable seating, and despite being on the high street it felt very cozy. That seems to be the only redeeming quality.

Good food. Ray recommended a superb rioja. The spicy margarita and croquetas were delicious.

This place offers London quality for London prices. A great addition to the local scene. Never had a bad meal here. Food is always tasty and hits the mark for being a bit special. Cocktails well judged and the service is attentive and professional. Go-to for a special occassion.

Honestly my favourite restaurant in Watford. The food is so cleverly designed and delicious, the atmosphere is lovely, cocktails are great and staff are always so friendly and helpful. Love this place!

My wife and I are regulars here and we always have a pleasant experience. Good food, nice ambience and fantastic service - the staff are consistently friendly and polite. ***HOWEVER*** They have recently updated their menu and downsized their portions! (but not the cost) The Potatas Bravas was a particular favourite… good size portion for two with plenty of sauce to boot. New portion equates to 3 cubes of potato each, and the accompanying sauce appears to have been on a new years diet.. a few drips now on the plate. Some other much loved dishes have been replaced also with some not so nice alternatives. The salmon Nigiri has been removed and the gyozas (which were great!) have been replaced with some not so great dumplings. Our bill was £70+ however we now leave still feeling hungry.

I had I steak it was amazing exact on point medium , but i missed the garlic bread, which they don't have on the menu... very good wine selection... the local is very cozy ... I would recommend 👍👍

Humo in Watford has a cozy vibe, but it’s quite cold inside, so wearing a jacket is a must. The bone marrow was decent, the steak was tasty but not exceptional, and the cheesecake was absolutely delicious. Worth a try! The toast bread with tomato was good also!!

Good place if you want to eat in Warford, good service (I said I was from Madrid and the owner is too). There were 2 of us and we ordered several tapas including croquettes, sticky rice, prawns and sushi. Then as a main course I ordered the 8-hour ribs and they were delicious. The only downside, the price is about 65 pounds with a bottle of wine for 2.

Had the most AMAZING evening here with DJ Ray on Friday! Such a buzzing atmosphere without mentioning the great quality food and best cocktails in Watford!

Came here excited, as the reviews on here and other sites have been really good. Perhaps my hopes were set too high. Firstly the ambiance is on the lively side, I get it, it’s a Friday night but the generic cut and paste house music being blasted out at 7pm is not acceptable. Weirdly the volume kept getting turned down and then turned back up, like the staff were responding to different customers demands. A couple next to me left because to was too loud. The food and drink is overpriced sadly. I know this is supposed to be a fancy option in Watford but rates for cocktails (solid at best) and wine were not reflected in the quality of the beverage. I had the bavette steak with house fries. No steak knife offered which is essential for the bavette style. Needed a steak knife. It was not a great piece of meat and paying £26 for the larger portion felt a stretch. Small portion of fries too. However the chimichurri was a highlight. Then a small dessert followed by a coffee. In total it came to £71 which just felt insane considering that I was still hungry and the meat had been mediocre. Normally the food snob in would avoid a place that does grill, sushi and tapas. It can’t do all 3 well and this place is very much fur coat sans knickers.

Just left this restaurant and had one of the best experiences I've had in such a long time. I'm now currently sitting here typing this while enjoying my banging takeaway cheesecake. The food here is absolutely outrageously good (especially the short rib)! The owner and his team were all extremely accommodating and we can't wait to come back. Cant believe I was driving because the Margarita cocktail we had was awesome. Until next time! Thank you.

The food is absolutely perfect, great steak and the ribs were lovely and soft. Basque is a must too. DJ spins some proper rnb and garage classics and takes requests too! Had a great night and will be going back for sure!

We visited Humo after a recommendation from our accommodation. We had some different croquettes to start and some artisan bread. The truffle and mushroom croquettes were amazing!! We both then had sea bass and house friend and these were delicious. Cocktails were great and we really enjoyed these. They have a great cocktail menu. Service was great and the waiter explained things on the menu to us and service was quick and professional. This is a great place for couple and friends. It had a lovely atmosphere and is really well decorated. Class meal and service. Highly recommended.

Great food, great service. Took my wife for our anniversary. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we felt welcomed and had a really enjoyable evening, lovely meal and a surprise anniversary ice cream at the end. My first time visiting won’t be the last.

Solo dining on a work trip. Food was excellent, had the garlic prawns, perfectly cooked bavette and the cheese cake! Great food and good value.

The Angus rib eye steak was the best steak I’ve had in a long, long time & my partners duck was also really tasty. Both were perfectly cooked. Tapas & drinks were great too.

I visited Humo Restaurant in Watford on a Saturday night, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. We started with some expertly crafted cocktails, followed by the most delicious croquettes and succulent prawns. For our mains, we chose the Tomahawk with chips, and it was cooked to perfection—each bite was bursting with flavour. Dessert was an absolute highlight, with the Basque Cheesecake and a delightful brioche dessert that left us wanting more. The service was second to none, with the staff making us feel right at home. Highly recommend Humo for a night of amazing food, drinks, and impeccable service!

We had a reservation for 2, which was cinfirmed yesterday. Today the reataurant was closed. Anything can happen, and we understand that they might have to be closed, but no one let us know.

The food was reasonably good, the service only okay. An interesting fusion concept of Spanish and Japanese cuisines that worked really well in places.

It was our first visit to Humo Watford as a family. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, had ordered duck which was tasty and most importantly very tender. Had also ordered sea bass fish which was also very tasty I think would have loved to have a little big piece but was good. Chops and steak was also Very good . Our starter was also tasty and good. Service was excellent person serving our was very good unfortunately forgot his name. Had a great time. Will definitely go back . Would recommend other to try it out too. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍

From the point of booking right to when we left the experience was brilliant. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was absolutely insane. We went for the £27.50 3-course menu which was excellent value for money. The wine was excellent too. Everyone in the group was pleased with their choices and overall we had a wonderful evening.

Myself and two friends visited on a wednesday evening. They let us know they had a large event on which may slow service to us. We appreciated being informed and the waiter was very attentive and gave us a sushi dish as a little bite on the house whilst we waited for our food. Drinks were flowing and once we received our food it really was delicious! Sea bass especially!

Had the best time and the quality of the food as well as the drinks were just 100%! Booked to have a birthday meal and the team made the day extra special. Couldn't recommend a better place to eat.

After booking back in June and couldn’t make it due to unforeseen circumstances, I have to say our experience for our wedding anniversary in September was outstanding. Nothing was to much trouble, the food was delicious and the waiter / bartender was extremely helpful and attentive I have no hesitation in recommending Humo and 100% will be back

I booked this restaurant to take my gf on a date but just by looking at pictures it looked nice but it wasn't till we got there and tried the food cocktails and felt the atmosphere that one my gf and I felt this is now our place to go everything about it was just amazing and we can't wait to go back there end of the month ❤️

We had an early booking for a table for five, and there were only a couple of other people in the restaurant. Despite this, service was woeful. It was like pulling teeth. Drinks took over 30 mins to arrive at the table. Meals all came out separately, with one of our party not getting their meal until the rest of us had nearly finished. Food was fine. Nothing to write home about. Saving grace, the cocktail I had was good.

We went to Humo last week, we had read some good reviews and thought we’d go for dinner. The service was good, our waiter was friendly, attentive and helpful throughout. The food was very average - for starters we had padron peppers which were fine, ‘langostinos’ which were actually gambas but again fine and patatas bravas which were quite soggy and the aioli was curdled. For mains my medium rare rib eye steak, coming in at £30, was very overcooked - medium well if I’m being generous, the ‘chimichuri’ was red and did not have a fresh herb in sight - dried oregano and parsley with red wine vinegar which lacked any freshness that you’d expect with a good green sauce and the peppercorn sauce was wishy-washy - the stock was not reduced enough, there was no depth/warmth from brandy and it was very thin in consistency. Some side dishes: excellent crispy chips and lacklustre, poorly prepared ‘seasonal’ veg that had not been scrubbed properly or treated with any care. Overall good service but poor food.

Have been here a few times and that says enough (considering I do not go back to restaurants more than once/twice). First & foremost, the cocktails here are amazing! The starters are so varied in flavours but hits the spot every single time. The mains are such huge portions. Perfect food, great ambience and amazing drinks!

Best restaurant in Watford. Went recently for a girls night out and to celebrate a birthday. The owner is so friendly and helpful and the service is excellent. The music was a little loud at first so we asked the dj to turn it down, he was so cool about it and then he cranked it back up later on so we could all dance. Brilliant night out for anyone looking for a more sophisticated night out in Watford.

Really nice food. The rice was tasty, good steak, good peppers, beef balls good. Defo recommend this spot.

I tried to call and email the restaurant to cancel my booking, but no one picked up on either phone or email, and they still charged me £40 in cancellation fee although I was unable to get hold of anyone to cancel my booking

What a find!!! Great Restaurant with amazing staffs! We went in to celebrate our exam success, 4 of us. The staff led by Prebs, greeted us so well and gave personal attention throughout our dinner. The whole meal was excellent, but the Statrters were my favourite... I loved the Pardon Peppers, the crispy Mushroom (Arrozo Meloso), the chicken Gyoza, the prawns ..... I ordered Lamb Chops and the combination with mash and the miso sauce was next level! The Cheesecake were ultimate....Can't wait to be back there soon:-)

We went for dinner at Humo on a Friday night. Enjoyed lots of small plates - bone marrow, gyoza and the sushi were standout dishes - and the beef short rib main was delicious too. We’ll definitely be back to try out more of the menu soon. Also a great cocktail list and DJ playing meant a lively atmosphere. Thanks!
