Rumba Casa Latina in Newcastle upon Tyne

First out with Peruvian food and we were blown away . Menu is varied and caters for meat eaters as well as vegetarian. Peruvian wine was great tasting and the whole night was great staff very friendly and attentive price very reasonable

Lovely owners but I’m so sorry to say the food was not good. The ceviche was nice but the main was very poor. I think they are struggling to keep afloat and maybe this has had an impact on quality of the food. For the price it was definitely not worth it.

I had the fish "ceviche," the lamb "seco" and "churros." Food is really tasty and made from scratch. I am not familiar with South American cuisine so went there to try new things and it was the right decision. The flavours are intense but not spicy at all. Bonus for having so many gluten free dishes.

Had a Peruvian friend visiting for one night, some arched this out, booked a table for 7 30, and good to go! Arrived 7 20, and clearly this is the a restaurant, but a dance bar, mixed with also an Ethiopian cafe. Drinks and Food menus were provided, however, nobody could serve us, as they were part of the Ethiopian set up, not the Peruvian, and the Peruvian people weren't there. Phone calls were made, promises given that they were coming, and after 50 mins nobody did, so we left. Menus looked good, but the place is clearly a cafe. Avoid!

Very authentic local feeling, like you would get on holiday in the hidden cafes and restaurants, with good quality food and service. I booked for a work event for 7 people, our server Coco provided recommendation and was entertaining which came across in a genuine way without being over the top. We had some of the ceviche's starters which was refreshing, and a combination of the different mains all which were very good. Will definitely be back, potentially for the latin dance classes on a weekend!

We decided to go here based on the menu outside the venue, however when we went in the menu was completely different and twice the price. When we questioned this e we were told they hadn’t started that menu yet. We had our drinks and left.

Food was absolutely gorgeous, super fresh, the lady serving us was a huge sweetheart and guided us through what all the best things were and it did not disappoint!

This place is excellent. All the food was new to us but the server explained the dishes and we went for the ceviche de pescado and the causa limeña de pollo for starters. Both were wonderfully fresh and tasty. For mains we had Seco de Cordero and Choros y langostinos a la crema and we enjoyed both. We went on a Friday night but didn’t stay for the dancing afterwards as we had an early start the next day, but we can certainly recommend the food and the friendly staff.

What an amazing place. Excellent food, friendly staff. The ceviche was light, fresh and flavourful, the Lomo and the Gallina were both really tasty and the churros were the perfect end to a great experience. I would highly recommend the Pesco sours cocktail the whole experience was like a real taste of Perú. I would say the best Peruvian food in all of Newcastle.

Why is this place quiet.. the couple who run it are so friendly.. the food was so delicious, experiment people.. you’ll thank me for it.. also try the beer cusquena.. it’s delish..!!!

We are local to the area and searched for a new restaurant to visit and Rumba was highly recommended on TripAdvisor. The restaurant opens late, so was quiet when we were arrived at 6pm, but I suspect is lively later on. The food and drinks were beautiful and the hospitality was next level. We will definitely be going back, great find!

I hadn’t tried this restaurant before but fell in love with South American food when travelling last year and so have wanted to try it for a while. This meal was absolutely outstanding, the seafood was so fresh and the flavours were fabulous. On top of that, the service was amazing , Chinzia was a joy to talk to & the pisco sours are definitely with a try! Very good value for money with a bonus shot to say goodbye. We will definitely be back.

Having travelled to Peru many times and enjoyed the unique taste of Peruvian cuisine, I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant in Newcastle. Our food was absolutely delicious! If you’re looking for an authentic Peruvian experience, be sure to give this place a try.

We stumbled across this little gem on our way to digital nightclub. Had an absolute fab few hours here, everything about this place was a 5 star experience! The food and drinks were outstanding, very delicious, homemade, authentic. The prices were decent too. The best part of our experience was the host/owner Coco and his family! We were made to feel very welcome, had free salsa lessons and ended up dancing the night away in the restaurant to great music after our meal and a few tequilas! The birthday girl got a free tequila of course. Would 100 percent recommend. This is a must visit restaurant in Newcastle!!!

The food was well presented. It was full of flavour and all credit to the chef. Host/hostess were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely eat here again, however, maybe later in the evening. We get the feeling that it gets more lively later in the evening. The atmosphere was lacking somewhat as we were only one of 2 couples in a restaurant that could take 30 covers.

Lovely meal and fantastic Peruvian cocktails. The salsa lesson after was an unexpected bonus and the staff were so warm and friendly. Would definitely return.

Slightly late opening but well worth the few minutes wait. Colourful, casual style restaurant. Super attentive, friendly staff, great atmosphere, great music. 5 different meals, all thoroughly enjoyed even tried a Peruvian cocktail. If you fancy a change from your usual food choices it’s definitely worth a visit.

Lovely people and first time I have tasted Peruvian food which was very tasty. I particularly liked the De pollo o vegetables which had the Peruvian yellow chilli and lime in it. Service was served not only with a smile but a laugh as well; will definitely be coming back.

Amazing fresh flavours from the ceviche, saltado beautifully cooked with a delicious sauce and tender beef and a delectable rice pudding that changed the mind of a fussy 15 year old male! Well done chef it was a wonderful dining experience!!

Having never tried Peruvian food we didn't know what to expect. This is a family run business and absolutely fab. The lady who looked after us was so attentive, gave brilliant food recommendations and made amazing cocktails. We had amazing fish dishes which were delicious, couldn't get enough. Really well cooked and full of flavour. Very well priced as well. I would definitely recommend going here, you won't regret it. The complimentary shots of tequila were an added bonus.

Fantastic tasty chicken dish. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and good music too. Highly recommend. Only had a main but it all sounded fantastic.

Went because I fancied a fish-based meal and liked the sound of the parihuela de mariscos. When it arrived it was beautifully plated, smelled gorgeous with the lime dressing to the fore. Service was excellent but, be warned, food is cooked to order rather than being brought out within minutes of your ordering it. It's definitely on my list of places to re-visit.

Friendly although slightly disorganised front of house service. The seco de cordero was excellent. Slow cooked lamb in a coriander sauce. Not a combination I'd come across before but will definitely be trying again. The parihuela de mariscos was equally good. Very much a family run business rather than a slick chain but couldn't fault the food and owners were keen to help in any way they could.

Such friendly and accommodating staff! I was even given a quick and free dance lesson. Must visit especially for those craving latin american food!

I came craving ceviche and wasn't disappointed! Tasted just as good as restaurants I visited in Peru. Excellent sized portions, lovely food, really friendly staff and great atmosphere. I went late on a thursday night just coming out of lockdown so it was obviously quieter than normal but I can imagine it would be buzzing on a weekend! I'll definitely come back next time I'm in Newcastle!

Had to soak up some of the pisco sours with the meat feast . It tasted exactly like what I had whilst on holiday, beats the run of the mill pizza and kebab shops that are in the area. The owner is Italian and actually hand makes the dough, sauce, herself which you don't see a lot of these days tbh! Highly recommended

We started of wanting something different to try, as we got sick of going to the same place and we were not let down by the food, it was amazing! I then decided to have a look at there reviews and noticed the pisco sours were getting some great reviews and decided to try 1, which lead to 2, which lead to 3 and you know how the story ended! They really are the best pisco sours i have had, this is including having them in spain too.

I am writing a review for the takeaway restaurant which is the best in Newcastle. The food was delicious. Cinzia and Coco also have great customer service. I would recommend this to anyone and for everyone.

I went in expecting peruvian food but only to find this particular dish was very similar to chinese stir fry. It tastes lovely and apparently the dish comes from the chinese immigrants in peru. The ceviche is also amazing! so fresh! pisco sours are also some of the best in Newcastle.

Been here lots of times before lockdown for drinks but have also had the food a few times. It is absolutely beautiful. The lamb is amazing, fish beautiful, everything was fast, good value and tastes amazing! The staff are so friendly and make you feel so relaxed like old friends rather than customers. Will definitely be back again soon!

I have sampled just about every type of food from Mexican, Italian to everything in between and I just say that I was genuinely blowing away by the Peruvian food and how it was totally different and way better than expected. So fresh, clean and fill of flavor. Highly worth the visit.

Me and my friend went into rumba as passing by and wow what a fantastic atmosphere. The lady behind the bar Cynthia ? I think her name was.She was so polite and caring.What a lovely Lady and what a place she runs. YES I WOULD DEFINATLY RECOMEND PEOPLE TO VISIT RUMBA AND HOPE THEY HAVE AS GOOD A TIME AS WE DID. lovely tender bits of lamb, that have been marinated and slow cooked for hours. Rice was fresh and clean and washed it down with a peruvian beer. This place is under rated, i feel because peruvian food is not as mainstream as mexican or spanish food but trust me, it beats the pair of them and just as good. Well worth a look in for something fresh and new.

What a hidden gem of a restaurant in Newcastle this place is. Very close to central station and literally 30 seconds from the life center. The food here is amazing, clean and packed full of flavor. The staff here make you feel like you are home and have a very personal and attentive service. The drinks are well prices and nice atmosphere with good vibes. Overall, glad I found this place. I don't leave reviews often, however, this place really deserves it.

Visited the restaurant during our brief trip to Newcastle. Food was very good and interesting. Pisco cocktail was delicious. Very friendly staff

Half dinner was fine until he asks us to pay with cash without having told so in advance. After that he left for deliveries for more than 40 minutes and didn’t even discounted us a pound. during the corona virus pandemic I would expect a restaurant to keep safety measures and don’t expect people to pay cash without even notifying the customer before the meal.

So I arrive at rumba on saturday 17th October. I was greeted so nicely and welcoming. I was took over to a table and I ordered my drinks as usual. All the staff are so friendly and always go out of there way to have a conversation with you. Ii then sat for around an hour and I asked for a menu as I was peckish. I ordered these prawns and wow there were amazing. So fresh and cooked to perfection. Very tasty. Cinzia is the best and she is so lovely. The best place with the best food and drinks around. Good music and good friendly people. I would definitely recommend 10000%

Had a fantastic evening. The food options were great. The real standout was the incredibly friendly service from the DJ turned waiter and the chef who came to speak to us personally. I can't recommend highly enough!

Primera vez comiendo comida peruana y no será la última. Tuve las tiras de ternera (Lomo Saltado) que eran increíbles y tiernas. También probé el pescado blanco (ceviche de pescado) que era hermoso y era la primera vez que comía pescado blanco y sin duda volveré pronto para probar más del menú. El personal era agradable y con un gran ambiente.

This little place on the other side of the train station deserves to be much more popular. The Peruvian and Cuban food was delicious and a real change from the norm. The people who served us (I guess the owners) we're so friendly and helped us decide what to choose from the unfamiliar dishes, we had a range of things which suited us all really well.We had our teenage boys with us who loved it as well. We enjoyed the pisco sour cocktails as well as the Peruvian beers. All in all a real treat, get over there as soon as you can!

My wife and I stopped here on the way to Scotland, she was drawn to the menu. The chief recommend two Cuba dishes, they were both incredible! The cocktail and my Peruvian beer beer were excellent too, we'll definitely be calling back on our way back home!

The Cuban lamb was really nice! Tasty, peppery very flavorful lamb. It goes really well with Cuban black bean rice and patacones on the side 👌🏻Highly recommended!

This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. The entire menu is authentic Peruvian as well as boasting all of the popular Peruvian beverages you would expect too. Inside is colourful and the Latin American music takes you abroad from the comfort of Newcastle!I would strongly recommend the Cerviche which tastes delicious and is full of flavour, and they serve a punchy pisco sour if you’re looking for a nice cocktail.The service staff are super friendly and really bolster the atmosphere, very attentive to customer service with the chef even coming out to check back on how the food was for everyone. They apologised if the service was slow because the kitchen is small and the restaurant was nearly full, however I didn’t notice a wait at all - food was served promptly.I have lived in Newcastle for over three years now and only wish I found the restaurant sooner. They deserve all the stars!!

The food was delicious and the staff are so lovely! After having spent 4 months in Peru I was craving some ceviche and lomo saltado as well as an Inca Kola and Pisco Sour. This place delivers! The food is cooked to a high standard and the staff are so welcoming and kind. The chef even came out to every table to ask whether we had enjoyed our meals! The service was excellent, (perhaps a little slow - but it was very busy!) and really can not fault the restaurant! If you’re looking for a unique place in the heart of Newcastle, with food you’ve probably never had unless you’ve travelled to South America, then this is the place to be!I will 110% be returning soon!

The food and service are great here. I had the squid to start followed by the Lomo Saltado. Both were excellent, really tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. The only reason I did not score higher is the restaurant was cold and it really does need decorating or repainting to tidy it up. Would return again if in the area.

Really enjoyable pre show meal. The cerviche was excellent as was the fish stew. The service was friendly, well timed and attentive. The cocktails were tasty too. Our only regret was that we had leave before any dancing began. We will definitely be back.

Lovely food and excellent service. I am a vegetarian and one of my friends has food allergies - the staff brought out an allergy matrix to show clearly which dishes contained different ingredients which made choosing much easier. There was a dance class underway while we ate which was an unexpected added entertainment! My friend had been to Peru and was impressed with the authenticity of the food. Really pleased we chose this restaurant and would highly recommend it.

We went to Rumba Casa Latina on a Friday in January and it was pretty quiet in the restaurant, but the service from Coco created a brilliant atmosphere straight away.The food was delicious and Coco makes AMAZING mojitos. We are looking forward to visiting again. Thanks for a great night!!!

We came in on a Friday evening and the service was extremely attentive and friendly - but in no way was it overbearing or intrusive.

My friend and I went for a late dinner after a show last night and were not disappointed! Coco, the owner was great - he made recommendations which were fantastic and it took me right back to 2004 when my husband and I visited Peru. Coco took the time to chat and we felt very welcome. Loved everything about the place - the Latin music/vibe made it extra special and we will definitely return for some salsa dancing next time!

I had a friend who lived in Peru so when staying in Newcastle I teased him about trying the guinea pig. Throughout the meal I was in lively online banter with the waiter and him about the food. It tasted delicious and was just what he told me to expect.

We visited Rumba, as it was the only place we could find in Newcastle that was serving ceviche. It was a very good ceviche, well seasoned, very tasty. We also had another cold starter, choritos a la chalaca, which was very tasty and well presented.

We visited midweek (group of 9) and had a fabulous time. The owners were so helpful and friendly, they explained the menu, answered our questions and even gave us an ad hoc dance lesson to round off the night!

Drinks and food were super. Relaxing chill vibe. Feels like you have a little exotic holiday in the middle of the city. Staff were a delight! Will be back.

The ceviche and lomo saltado I had were excellent - just what I was hoping for when I saw that there was a Peruvian restaurant in Newcastle! The staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Northern England!

We are regular visitors to Rumba at night for a drink and a dance. The music is always amazing (especially when CoCo is DJing) both Cinzia and CoCo are amazing hosts and an amazing night is always guaranteed with a brilliant atmosphere! We've also recently been for food and will most definitely be back! Service and food were all 5 star thank you! Xx

We visited before going to see Michael Buble at the nearby Utilita Arena. The restaurant is close to the Jurys Inn where we were staying (2 mins walk).

Very good experience. Delicious Peruvian food, nice place,very nice service and... you can stay to dance. Just recommending it if you're in Newcastle😉👍

Looking for somewhere central in Newcastle to eat with a teenager. Found the vibrant, freindly atmosphere and tasty food perfect for our needs. Diverse ingredients, tasty food - filling, interesting and really freindly staff. Great to try new foods - cassava fries, who knew how yummy. Good for vegetarian and meat eater. My son loved the lamb dish. Waitress patient and well-infomed to support us with the choice. Option to have parties and learn to Salsa - definitely worth a return visit with adults.

I love Peruvian food and am so thrilled there is a restaurant in Newcastle serving it. The ceviche, lomo saltado and shrimp/mussels in a cream sauce we had were especially good. Definitely try a pisco sour! Highly recommended!
