Best Xian food I’ve had in England! It’s a real authentic canteen, beats all the places in London!

My biang biang noodle was delicious but they changed the recipe to be more tomatoey. Doesn’t compete with the recipe two years ago but still really good. I guess it depends on personal preference.

The store is in a neat market. I feel very comfortable after eating the noodles. It is very clean and hygienic. The noodles and vegetables are fresh, delicious and the portions are large. The boss will reduce the seasonings as required. He is very easy to communicate with and the clerk is also very enthusiastic.

True EXPERTS in their craft 🔥🧑🍳 For the first time, we tried the famous ‘Biang Biang’ Handmade noodles in Grainger Market, and it lived UP to it’s name 🔥😆 While there are many lovely Chinese noodle shops, it would be difficult to find a parallel to this in the North East (based on my limited knowledge). The noodles were INCREDIBLE, the broths were extremely rich - and with their very own-made chilli oil just screaming for you to add more in, it makes for the perfect noodle soup. They even adapted their noodle soup options to suit our vegetarian requests without hesitation 🙏 🍃 We ordered : Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup (vegetarian) Noodles in Sour Soup with pickled vegetables (vegatarian) Biang Biang Noodles Just look at how the chefs work on their woks. True ‘wok hei’. And sitting at the side of a bustling market while eating - now that’s a true street food experience 😎

Today I came to Newcastle from London. The owner of this gourmet restaurant in Xi'an recommended that the Lanzhou beef noodle soup base is very good. The skin of the meat buns is crispy and the meat is tender. It is worth experiencing.

Absolutely loved my first time experience here. Me and my partner both ordered fried noodles in soy sauce with chicken (£12 each) as well as a Chinese boiled egg (£1.50). Absolutely delicious!! We were offered some chilli oil with the dish as well which was terrific. The staff were lovely, they were asking where we were from and overall the place had a great atmosphere. It's cash only and it's a lovely place to get authentic Chinese street food. Went back for a second time and ordered BiangBiang noodles which was absolutely delicious and a Chinese pork burger, again delicious, the bread was gone made as well as everything else.

I visited the other day after all the positive reviews I saw online for the biang biang noodles. After going I understand why! They were so fresh and flavorful, the meat were perfectly tender. The only thing I wish it had was more meat and egg. However I loved the tangy sauce and it had the perfect spice, especially with some extra chilli oil. My boyfriend ordered the spicy beef noodle which was nice but wouldn’t order again. Would be great if you were sick though. We did wait about 15 minutes but that was fine. Also they only take cash.

Rarely do I give 5 stars. But this is a 5 stars Chinese street food. It's so hard to get real non western adjusted Chinese food but this place does it. A very small place with a chef shouting across the desk while the crowds pass by. Sometimes a bit chaotic but that's part of its charm and the food was incredible. It's a massive shame that Newcastle city is anti car as it makes it next to impossible for me to return but I'll do my best. Strong and deep flavours, excellent 👍

Food was very authentic, as is the ambience of the place (market corner/street food with bar stools at high benches). Service was terrible. I was first in. Four groups came in after and were eating by the time I went to remind the guy I was there. Not even an apology. That said, worth the wait for the huge bowl of very hearty hot and sour beef soup.

It looks like an authentic chinese street food stall, it is an authentic chinese street food stall. Had a bowl of the biang biang noodles and they were delicious and came in a big portion as well. The issue is that one meal here costs £12 which is a lot more than you would expect for street food. They also only take cash which is an inconvenience. I would definitely come back but I can't afford to come often

Came here from reviews...I wasn't disappointed AT ALL! This is the most authentic spicy beef bowl noodles that I've had since having hand pulled beef noodles from Shanghai. This really took me back and I'm so grateful for that experience ☺️ The price being £12 a bowl, quite steep, but it is well worth it and authentic! Will try other things next time. P.s this place only takes cash.

The price went up massively. Now most noodles costs £12. I wanted to try Lanzhou beef noodle, but after seeing the price list before the increase, we just decided to have two biang biang noodles(Lanzhou went up to £12 from £7.90, whereas biang biang's price increased by £2 so not so bad). The noodles tasted great, but it was too salty and oily we ended up getting sick that day. The owner was really friendly though.

I had the famous Biang Biang noodles. Absolutely delicious. Quite spicy which is perfect for me. I will be having them again. Tomorrow hopefully. Lovely warm and friendly staff and service. It was great to watch the food being prepared as I was sat next to the kitchen. The chef asked me if I liked it spicy. I nodded enthusiastically and he smiled. Top man. He didn’t disappoint.

- Located in the middle column near the north end of Grainger Market (corner of row C and alley 5). - There’s a Noodle express sign pointing to the indoor seating, but you have to go around the outside of the shop where the big menu is to order first (see pic). - Authentic cuisine. Super tasty. Bit of a wait (15-20 mins) but it’s a real treat if you like Chinese food and hand pulled noodles. - £10 filled me up for the day. - Had the Biang Biang noodles which had very tender meat. It’s quite saucy so if you’re getting take away container make sure you hold the box flat otherwise you’ll get sauce down you.

The venue has changed little from when it was a greasy spoon, how ever the food has changed allot! The noodles are hot fragrant and tasty, I had the Biang Biang noodles with beef. TL;DR - Incredible authentic noodles. Freshly prepared, so expect to wait. Nice staff, decent prices. Cash only. Amazing noodles, freshly made per order. Be aware that this does mean there will be a wait while the chef is preparing the noodles (I waited roughly half an hour), so this is not the place to go if you're in a rush and need a quick bite. However if you're looking for authentic, delicious, fresh Chinese dishes, this place is highly recommended. Perhaps order first, do a bit of shopping around the market and then come back to eat! The staff are friendly, and the prices are reasonable considering the labour going into every dish. Note that it's cash only here - there's a fee-free ATM at Tesco just opposite the nearest Grainger Market exit. There is some seating inside which is a bit spartan and could be cleaner, but does the job. There is customer WiFi in there, which is a nice touch as there is little mobile signal.

Updated photo menu. Freshly made dumplings, so I was prepared to wait. The place is inside the Grainger Market, and you can see the staff busy working away, making various dumplings and other foods for customers. The prawn har gow (dumplings) was very tasty @ £4.99 for 5 the boa buns are £1.80 each they also do noodles and various teas. There are stools to sit on and a table to the side of the unit great for wheelchair users to park up and enjoy their food.

No one to welcome us when we arrive. Drinks are served after 15 min. The food is average, potato boats bathed in oil, the sauce and the meat were lovely. Cold in the room, as the outer door is always left open. Overall an ok experience, but will not return.

Been here a few times and the food is always of a decent standard. However last night me and my girlfriend decided to try a couple of different sushi options and one of them was crab. I was absolutely perplexed when they brought out our sushi with two crab sticks adorned on them. When I indicated to the waiter that we expected some sort of fresh crab meat he laughed awkwardly. For the price you pay your can get much better food elsewhere, you mainly pay for the theatre. Unfortunately after £130+ for two dinners, one bottle of wine and two soft drinks, I will not be back again.
