This is a wonderful friendly community cafe. Service is always good and prices very reasonable prices. I always prefer going to Mary and Martha's than the other cafes on Chillingham Rd. Thank you to all the volunteers who serve. You do a great job.

Lovely volunteer run cafe with unbeatable prices! Only downside is that they aren't open for long each day!

Updated photo menu. Freshly made dumplings, so I was prepared to wait. The place is inside the Grainger Market, and you can see the staff busy working away, making various dumplings and other foods for customers. The prawn har gow (dumplings) was very tasty @ £4.99 for 5 the boa buns are £1.80 each they also do noodles and various teas. There are stools to sit on and a table to the side of the unit great for wheelchair users to park up and enjoy their food.

Apart from some ambient music this compact pub is all about catching up with friends. No football, no loud music, just a chance to have a drink and a natter. If you want a really lively pub go to the Toon, otherwise I would highly recommend this place for friendliness and general clientele.

Been here a few times and the food is always of a decent standard. However last night me and my girlfriend decided to try a couple of different sushi options and one of them was crab. I was absolutely perplexed when they brought out our sushi with two crab sticks adorned on them. When I indicated to the waiter that we expected some sort of fresh crab meat he laughed awkwardly. For the price you pay your can get much better food elsewhere, you mainly pay for the theatre. Unfortunately after £130+ for two dinners, one bottle of wine and two soft drinks, I will not be back again.

We chose this restaurant because of the many positive reviews. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. It appears to be a meeting place for the Eritrean community. We were the only restaurant guests. Communication with the waitress was only possible to a limited extent. She seemed rather uninterested. It took a very long time for the food to be served. We ordered two meat dishes, one with spinach. The meat was tough and didn't taste good, and the spinach was completely missing. The other dish tasted okay, but was so spicy that I stopped eating after a short while. Overall, the visit to the restaurant was very disappointing and I don't understand how all the great reviews came about.
