Brilliant night, good food and wine and the pace of service was perfect!

We enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch yesterday , excellent value for £20 Sunday roast and lovely service . We opted to share a bottle of red wine , Pinotage being our favourite . I believe the wines started at £30 and this bottle was £38 , more than we would usually pay . The wine was very enjoyable and I took a picture of the bottle thinking I would like to buy a couple of bottles . The wine turned out to be available at £8.82 online . I would always expect wine to be dearer in a restaurant but this is extortionate !!! Sadly this will put us off returning .

Loved the food, old pub food but done so well. large beer selection and great atmosphere. slightly let down by service and being allowed to order a £60 bottle of beer by accident without anyone saying anything. would recommend it though (just check prices before ordering, unlike me).

Good service, food and a warm comfortable atmosphere, however the food was really salty.

Not a Michelin standard restaurant. Basic pub meal held up by a warm atmosphere and very good service/ waiting staff. Haddock with heavy overdone batter, dark brown rather than golden and partners roast potatoes burnt and dry at the edges . Such basic staples should be accomplished with ease?

We had the Lamb shoulder to share. It was amazing food. The wine was delicious, and so were the beers fruh and vedette. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be visiting again!! Thank you Kye & Janette

We sat upstairs in a busy and festive environment which was lovely as I’d taken my daughter out for a lunchtime treat. The food was superb and this is quite possibly my best meal in a long long time. I wouldn’t change a thing.

The roast squash, lentil and sheep curd was different and delicious.

Good choice of food, nicely presented. Staff were lovely & helpful. The only issue I had was where we sat was cold & draughty due to holes in the old door. Daylight was visible & a very cold d draught was blowing through. It wouldn’t take much to block these up & it certainly didn’t spoil our meal.

Had wonderful meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. All the food between 3 of us was cooked beautifully and tasted great. The service was welcoming, friendly and efficient.

This is some of the best food in Newcastle. My Dover sole was slightly over but the other dishes were on point. Great service and the ambience is always lively which I love, can’t wait to go back.

Good service, very decent food in lovely surroundings. Highly recommend. After a selection of snacks, including pork pie and scotch eggs, I had the Pollock main course. Food came quickly and all the other diners in our group enjoyed the whole experience.

we both both opted for the roast beef Sunday lunch, we both thoroughly enjoyed what we had, we were both a bit stuffed after our main so we opted to share a dessert of poached pear sponge with almonds and custard which was delightful, we will defo be coming back

Top pub and restaurant. Good range of strong beers. Excellent calves liver and fish. Wine is good. Lively. Proper pub downstairs as well as dining room upstairs. Pricey (£60+ each) but worth it. Go here.

Super Sunday lunch in a buzzy restaurant...great food & wine menu. Plenty of lighter plate choice too if you're not up for a full meal (portoons are generous).

Delicious Sunday roast and dessert. Friendly & efficient service. Enjoyed a drink in the bar on arrival then up to the restaurant for lunch. Excellent roasts with veg and Yorkshire pudding included followed by tasty dessert and coffee.

Excellent as usual. The homemade HP haggis and egg on toast is glorious.

The food was very nice and we enjoyed our meal. The partridge was well cooked, not easy to eat and in hindsight I might not have chosen it. Noise level was a bit loud for us. Quite expensive and only for special occasions, but we would return.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Broad Chare,it was a delightful experience from start to finish.Nestled in The Quayside of Newcastle. This Gastro pub offers a unique twist on traditional Fare, making it a must- visit for food enthusiasts. The ambience strikes a perfect balance between cozy and upscale. The waitress was attentive, eager to share recommendations from the menu. The menu is a creative blend of classic pub and local Geordie dishes, which was a delightful combination of flavours. For my starters I had Lindisfarne Oysters, they were exceptional due to their creamy texture, served Tabasco sauce and a treat for any seafood enthusiast. For my main I shared the Chargrilled Hereford T- Bone steak with a peppercorn sauce,cooked rare, it exceeded our expectations- perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Don’t skip desert! The desert I had was a lemon posset,Blackberries and shortbread. Overall,The Broad Chare stands out for its quality of ingredients and inventive dishes. I left feeling satisfied and eager to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their pub dining experience!

Many menu items are recognisably pub food, but the presentation and taste are at an altogether different level. My crab salad was superb and the liver and bacon was in a different class to the many others I’ve eaten. Tables are simple but reasonably spaced, staff helpful but not intrusive. Very high quality, prices not unreasonable for the experience at today’s norms.

It’s been a while since we visited, and was clearly long overdue. The staff were fantastic, the dining room very welcoming and the food delicious (Cullen skink, oysters and liver and bacon were lush) Will be back on our next visit to The Glasshouse and/or Live Theatre

A gem of a restaurant. A regular visitor and I’ve never had a meal that disappoints. Went for a pre concert meal with a friend who was there for the first time. He absolutely loved the buzz and atmosphere in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Add great caring service and we believe the business deserved a good tip. Totally love this restaurant.

Very enjoyable meal. Excellent Fish Soup and Wild Brill. Calves Liver was also fine but the crispy bacon seemed to have gone AWOL. Some decent wines by the glass. Service was friendly and helpful.

Absolutely delicious! Everything was excellent and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Highlights were the Shiraz red and the soft meringue with vanilla crème and baked plums. Delightful!

Lo visité una vez hace varios meses y pensé que la comida era encantadora. Sin embargo, en mi visita de hoy ( 03 . 10 . 24) la comida era absolutamente impactante! Pedimos 3 mejillas de pescado monje, 3 patatas fritas, un huevo escocés y unas orejas de cerdo. El huevo escocés y las orejas de cerdo estaban bien, pero no muy bien y las patatas fritas eran duras como si hubieran estado sentadas allí durante horas y el pez monje estaba tan hecho; ¡era como masticar una bota de cuero vieja! Éramos los únicos en el bar en el momento de pedir y sentir como si nos acaban de recalentar la comida. También nos dimos cuenta de que el personal no vino y nos preguntaron cómo estaba la comida, lo que sugiere que el personal sabía lo que estaban poniendo delante de nosotros no estaba a la altura. Una comida muy decepcionante.

They had some amazing food. The scotch egg is a must try. Also the haggis on toast was great too. The bubble and squeak and the fish and chips were mediocre. Staff were super friendly and even offered for us to stay after closing time if wanted desert.

Brilliant food, good service, good beer, even left a 10 pound tip, it was that good.

1st time visit for my husbands birthday and we will definitely be back. Great ambience and my husband said his rib-eye was the best he had had in a long time !! Pork scratching's were fab too. Fantastic service.

Absolutely phenomenal food, I had the lamb and my friend had the pork, perfect portions of everything, the side of gratin was lovely too, wish we could have room for more! Also very impressed with the staff knowledge of everything included on the dish and the specials and the beers downstairs because I could only remember the colours of the hand pull sign of the beer I had ordered! Very attentive staff but no hovering or crowding either, very difficult to get the right balance but it was spot on. I can see why this is the top restaurant for Sunday dinners in Newcastle on google. We will be back for more.

The place serves proper traditional food as well as season-themed ones (e.g. Oktoberfest) with a great attention to flavours and taste. The savoury Goulashsuppe was perfectly matched with Tuscan-like bread, while Lamb roast was melt-in-the-mouth and well-matched with seasonal veggies (spinaches and side potatoes dauphinoise). All in all it was a very complete meal served in a nice rustic but well-kept setting.

Since I was only staying for a few hours, I visited a gastro pub that was selected as a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand to have a meal that would not go wrong. I found this place while looking for restaurants in the UK and visited it. ​ It is a renovated building that used to be a warehouse, so the overall interior and atmosphere is hip and not burdensome. The first floor is a pub and the second floor is a restaurant. The menu has a variety of dishes in each section, including tapas-style snacks, appetizers, mains, and desserts. It's not expensive compared to British prices, but I liked the burger so I ordered it with a beer. ​ As mentioned earlier, since this is a bar, they serve over 50 different beers. Since lager is always required with hamburgers and pizza, I ordered Munich Lager from Paulaner, a German company famous for its wheat beer. It is true that the price of a hamburger is 17 pounds, but considering the reputation of Michelin and the fact that it is a handmade burger, it is not an unacceptable price. Even French fries are provided as standard. ​ Looking at the composition of the hamburger, lettuce, tomato, and pickles were placed on a patty topped with cheddar cheese, and brioche was used as the bun. It is a composition that is faithful to the basics without being excessive or poor. The patty, which was said to be made from rump steak, was cut in half and checked for doneness. Although it was not as medium rare as I had hoped, the meat juice was well preserved. It was enough to slightly wet the bun. ​ It was difficult to hold with two hands, so I cut it with a knife, but the juice coming out of the patty, the tomatoes, and the lettuce combined made it very smooth to swallow. The way to eat was meaningless. Although there was only one patty, it was the thickness of two patties combined, so it felt heavy as well as savory when eating it. However, the pickles served to balance out the heaviness of the patty, making it edible. ​ French fries are definitely the best when eaten with hamburgers. In Europe, French fries are usually dipped in mayonnaise, but I gave up on ketchup after trying it once. Anglo-Americans are very serious about hamburgers, and when it comes to handmade burgers, the overall standard is higher than in Korea, so I ate it without regret. Among other menu items, I am also curious about traditional British food.

Staff are so attentive to everyone's needs, and they look and act professionally. The food from the gastro pub bar snacks through to fine dining separate restaurant is a fantastic dining experience but sometimes we just go to be in the bar to use as our local 'country' pub

Absolutely fabulous meal last night! First time visit but we’ll definitely return. We chose a variety of bar snacks to share as ‘starters’ - all were delicious! Mains were a burger, hake and 2 liver and mash. All cooked to perfection. 1 pudding and 1 cheese board also excellent! Not cheap but the service was excellent and the ambiance great!

Customers sitting at the bar are extremely irritating. A decent selection of beer but who would want to stay in a place where a bunch of people block the bar and hold inane conversations at heightened volume. Certainly not me.

Our food was simply delicious. Each of us had a different Sunday lunch and each of us felt that it was all really good. I ad lamb and then a lovely meringue with stewed plums. A great combination. I can recommend. Lovely staff who were very helpful.

Excellent place for both drinking and dining. The beer was great and the food fantastic. I honestly wanted to lick the plates clean! Disgusting, I know, but it's that good. I will certainly return.

Our first time at Broad Chare. Restaurant was full so there was quite a lot of noise from people talking. Quite a limited and traditional menu but food was fine. Wine quite expensive. Goor range of beers including Belgian beers. Service was good.

Poor. Food was warm not hot. Roast potatoes dried out, tasteless. Vegetables. Cabbage large slices and carrots just we think probably microwaved. Pork tough. Lamb okay. The meal was very average for the price. We have been to Broadchare several times. This was the worst by far. Can’t fault the staff. Attentive and pleasant. Will not be returning.

Nice food served by friendly staff in a nice environment. Although enjoyable I did feel that my meal was slightly over priced and some thought could have been given to serving additional vegetables to make the portion seem a bit more generous. Would recommend as despite these issues we had a nice evening.
