Probably the best Sunday lunch I have eaten for al long time, very tasty, I can see how the restaurant is so busy 👏🍷👍

Fantastic food, really good service

Fabulous food and friendly service. The liver was melt in the mouth delicious and the hake was perfect. You can see and taste the quality of the ingredients and the cooking. Can't recommend highly enough. A main and pudding with a couple of drinks each came to £50/head. Worth every penny which is not something you can say about a lot of places in Newcastle. Will definitely be back for more.

Great location, great atmosphere, beautiful food. I had a Lamb shoulder and normally I'm not a massive fan of lamb, but that was hands down one of the best. So tender and the mint sauce was fresh. Would definitely go again.

We were really looking forward to eating here after seeing all the reviews. The food was very expensive and the steak was really disappointing. All of the steaks had grizzle in them. They were also weren’t very tasty and hadn’t been seasoned well. It was very busy for a Monday night but disappointing.

The steak was very expensive and lacked seasoning and was grisly. I had been really looking to coming here but was disappointed. Overall we spent a lot of money but we were not at all satisfied. The restaurant was very busy but lacked finesse.

Excellent staff and wonderful food Very noisy tables near us and was an hour of really loud talking shouting and laughing which was noticeably different to our first experience and nothing really that staff can change Just hard to hear ourselves speak and had to go with it …we did a 9pm booking and would go back to an earlier time when we come again

Great service food is good but portions quite large for main course and bar snacks were more than snacks so maybe bear in mind when ordering main course perhaps just 1 or 2 bar snacks to share. Sadly haddock had run out by 8.00pm. Wine we ordered was not that great as no body to it given Australian Chardonnay which is normally full of body for a white.

The food was outstanding and great value for such high quality, the service again was amazing and the drinks excellent. We will visit again, only downside was it is very busty and tables very close together and it became a little noisy at times.

My wife and I made our first visit to The Broad Chare for lunch, upstairs in the dining room, to celebrate my birthday, and what an excellent choice we made. We decided to mark the occasion by having the T-bone steak to share - we realised that neither of us had ever had that cut before - and I can't imagine it could be better. The meat was perfectly cooked, the blue cheese salad was delicious, it was a memorable dish. The starters were excellent as well - can't say much about the desserts because all we were capable of by that stage was lemon sorbet each! When we arrived there was only one other table occupied, but it soon filled up and was a really good atmosphere. Staff were all friendly and efficient. A bit pricy, but it was a birthday lunch and definitely worth it!

Fantastic Sunday lunch, pace of service was perfect and the choice of drinks is excellent. Special shout out to the slightly rare roast beef.

Good service with great food. Always a welcoming place and a fabulous meal is guaranteed. Interesting range of well kept beers and wines. Well deserving its place on the best 50 gastropubs and the Michelin Bib Gourmand.

I can’t recommend Broad Chare highly enough. Fantastic service, great beers and drink selection, fantastic food. We were there for Burns Night and the atmosphere and food were just excellent. I can’t wait to return.

A fantastic evening! It had been a few years since our last visit, and the restaurant has certainly retained the high-quality food and service we previously enjoyed. Excellent on all levels.

Fabulous food and drink at special prices during Restaurant Week, super professional service too.

So we ordered a few bar snack to share (quite big and 2 would have done), monkfish cheeks, pigs ears and roasted cauliflower. All delicious. Pigs ears a bit like crackling from roast pork. Ordered a bottle of Bulgarian Red, which could have done with 24 hours to breathe, but had to make do with an hour instead. It was great paired with our lamb. Roast lamb was a dish for at least 2 people and came with red cabbage, dauphinois potatoes (they served it up as a gratin) and greens. Absolutely delicious. Only gripe was that the vegetables were a bit too over-seasoned and could have been a wee bit less salty. Staff were attentive, but not overly so and the ambience is perfect. Visited many times and it never disappoints

The food is gorgeous as always and good portion sizes.

Reservamos para el almuerzo del domingo, y el restaurante no decepcionó, Los entrantes de ensalada de cangrejo y los haggis en tostadas son muy buenos, el almuerzo del domingo de ternera son muy sabrosos y bien vale la pena el precio, bien vale la pena una visita, pero tendrá solo 2 platos la próxima vez.

The food was delicious with perfectly paired flavours. Everything I ate was delightful. The servers were very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I highly recommend.

Greeted and taken to our table upstairs. The restaurant even at 12:50 was very busy. Lovely cozy clean vibe busy with staff who were very attentive. We were shortly over to a better table by the window which was also a little larger. I had a voucher for my birthday. Don’t know how they knew, but they gave me a glass of champers which was so kind. We both went for the Sunday roasts, both cooked beautifully but unfortunately were on the tepid side (we like our gravy steaming) so it chilled the food a little. I also had a pear and almond pudding with extra hot (I asked) custard, Devine. We would definitely recommend this Bistro, prices were moderate also. Cant fault the service. Looking forward to going back.

So good I bought my daughter and son-in-law a £100 voucher to enjoy a meal soon. We will definitely come again.

We took our two children for an early evening dinner and felt comfortable and welcome. Food was outstanding, the Sunday lunch was delicious, meat as so tender and lots of it. Lovely atmosphere.

Great restaurant serving terrific food. Started with monkfish cheeks and followed up with a lamb roast dinner. A very generous portion and along with roasts and vegetables all cooked perfectly. Highly recommend. Good choice of wines but all expensive. £30 for what was a basic red the cheapest available.

Delicious food including an excellent game pie, excellent service and lovely ambience. Nice to be able to hear yourself speak compared with the restaurant we ate at the next day!

The haggis starter was out of this world, unbelievable taste. The rump burger was overcooked, very dry and had little taste. Dessert stunning. Lovely place to eat but let down by the main.

We enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch yesterday , excellent value for £20 Sunday roast and lovely service . We opted to share a bottle of red wine , Pinotage being our favourite . I believe the wines started at £30 and this bottle was £38 , more than we would usually pay . The wine was very enjoyable and I took a picture of the bottle thinking I would like to buy a couple of bottles . The wine turned out to be available at £8.82 online . I would always expect wine to be dearer in a restaurant but this is extortionate !!! Sadly this will put us off returning .

Loved the food, old pub food but done so well. large beer selection and great atmosphere. slightly let down by service and being allowed to order a £60 bottle of beer by accident without anyone saying anything. would recommend it though (just check prices before ordering, unlike me).

Not a Michelin standard restaurant. Basic pub meal held up by a warm atmosphere and very good service/ waiting staff. Haddock with heavy overdone batter, dark brown rather than golden and partners roast potatoes burnt and dry at the edges . Such basic staples should be accomplished with ease?

We sat upstairs in a busy and festive environment which was lovely as I’d taken my daughter out for a lunchtime treat. The food was superb and this is quite possibly my best meal in a long long time. I wouldn’t change a thing.

The roast squash, lentil and sheep curd was different and delicious.

Good choice of food, nicely presented. Staff were lovely & helpful. The only issue I had was where we sat was cold & draughty due to holes in the old door. Daylight was visible & a very cold d draught was blowing through. It wouldn’t take much to block these up & it certainly didn’t spoil our meal.

This is some of the best food in Newcastle. My Dover sole was slightly over but the other dishes were on point. Great service and the ambience is always lively which I love, can’t wait to go back.

Good service, very decent food in lovely surroundings. Highly recommend. After a selection of snacks, including pork pie and scotch eggs, I had the Pollock main course. Food came quickly and all the other diners in our group enjoyed the whole experience.

Delicious Sunday roast and dessert. Friendly & efficient service. Enjoyed a drink in the bar on arrival then up to the restaurant for lunch. Excellent roasts with veg and Yorkshire pudding included followed by tasty dessert and coffee.

Super Sunday lunch in a buzzy restaurant...great food & wine menu. Plenty of lighter plate choice too if you're not up for a full meal (portoons are generous).

Top pub and restaurant. Good range of strong beers. Excellent calves liver and fish. Wine is good. Lively. Proper pub downstairs as well as dining room upstairs. Pricey (£60+ each) but worth it. Go here.

Second time eating here for Sunday lunch and it exceeded expectations, even after a brilliant first visit! Food is of excellent quality, service is smooth and professional.

we both both opted for the roast beef Sunday lunch, we both thoroughly enjoyed what we had, we were both a bit stuffed after our main so we opted to share a dessert of poached pear sponge with almonds and custard which was delightful, we will defo be coming back

Excellent as usual. The homemade HP haggis and egg on toast is glorious.

The food was very nice and we enjoyed our meal. The partridge was well cooked, not easy to eat and in hindsight I might not have chosen it. Noise level was a bit loud for us. Quite expensive and only for special occasions, but we would return.
