Chip and Fish in Newcastle upon Tyne

They have the best fish n chips I've ever had, freshly fried as you order. The portions are absolutely huge for £11. Very clean and staff is very friendly. Highly recommend!

Really good fish and chips. The fish was very tasty, well seasoned with a moist but flaky texture. The batter was really crunchy and light, I really enjoyed it. The chips were pillowy and still had good crunch even though I was 10 minutes late with the collection. Probably the best chippy I've been to in Newcastle.

Fantastic food everyone and great service

Usually a regular here, but not after this meal! Got my usual chips and 2 cheese patties. I took my first bite of the patty and had to spit it out. It tasted rotten! And I mean it tasted sooo out of date. The potato was SO dry it was crumbling. I tried the second patty. Same thing. No onion in either and you can see on the fork on my photo, that was the only bit of cheese I could find from both and it smelt putrid. Definitely wasn't the usual cheese they use. Won't be back unfortunately! Was going to go back with the food, but read they don't do refunds which is crazy.

Always get the Cod bites which are beautiful and tasty. Plenty juicy chips and crispy batter bits. The fella struggles to close the lid. Long may it continue!

Came here for the first time and we got battered sausage and chips w mushy peas and pie and chips and a brownie from the counter. The chips, pie, sausage, and batter scraps were all really good. Brownie was solid, would get again. Curry sauce was amazing! Mushy peas were not good though, they were too wet and just didn't taste right. Would definitely come back, but would probably skip the peas.

We got out first every chippy tea from Chip and Fish tonight and will definitely be returning! We were served by the lovely Rebecca, who was professional and polite, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the curry sauce was the best I have ever tasted!

In my opinion the best of local chip shops in the area. The food is generally always cooked fresh and the portions are more than enough for the price. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We visit at least once a month and it's always excellent.

Come here every Tuesday for a chicken wrap, absolutely lovely!! Even on my days off I travel to come here.

Went at 9 pm at Sunday. Been told only chips left. Very disappointed. The person who was serving was very rude as well. Looks like he is not happy to see a customer. Won't recommend to go there to spend your money even their food may be good.

Everything you would want in a chippy tea, really generously sized portions, the cod fillet was huge!! (and we got a free curry sauce to go with it too). The staff here are so friendly, the woman who served us was so lovely and chatty, she recommended the battered halloumi so we had to try it and we were not disappointed! The homemade tartar sauce was perfection as well!

Spotlessly clean, staff are lovely! You can tell they use good products. Can't say a bad word. Each time we go everything is perfect.

Rebecca greeted me with a cheery smile and prepared my order quickly. Fish and chips came with lemon and tartare sauce. Kids meal was enough to feed an adult. Chicken burger came with all the trimmings asked for. All good highly recommend

after being discharged after having a surgery at the freeman, i was absolutely starved! i looked up local chippies and found this, OH MY GOD! Best chippy i have had in my 26 years & i live in a coastal town. Huge portion of fresh chips cheese and curry sauce! my other half got battered sausage and couldn’t finish the lot, amazing portions! they were actually cleaning down when we got there and they made everything from fresh for us. fair to say i’ll be driving 60 miles when i fancy a chippy!!

One of the best fish and chips meals I have tried in years. Order over the phone and picked up. The portions are big, we expected smaller portions!! The ingredients taste fresh. Cooked to perfection. Not oily. Chips are delicious. Packaging are very good and suitable for the purpose. All the family loved it and gave the thumbs up.

Been here quite a few times and get our usual family deal which consists of 2 fish and chips, Donner kebab,battered sausage, two sauces and bottle of pop. Last couple of times I've been, the kebab meat hasn't been as nice as it normally is, it's quite awful in all honesty. Can't fault anything else though as that is absolutely spot on.

First time going. The young lady serving was lovely. Freshly cooked fish to order, so I waited 5 minutes or so. Fish and chips were faultless. Free tartare sauce a nice touch. 2x fish and chips with a jumbo sausage more than enough for 3 people. Defo going back.

Excellent food and service plus the best tartar sauce in the country. Good portions and all though it's at the upper end of the price range they throw in extras like a fish cake when you get two fish and chips but it varies every day

I found this little gem of a chippy on google with 4.7 stars out of 5… in my opinion it should be 5 🌟 out of 5 🌟.. there was no cod so we were offered haddock instead and it was absolutely beautiful… the chips were perfect along with the mushy peas and gravy.. first time customers but definitely won’t be the last.. it’s worth travelling 15/20 mins in car. Staff were lovely as well, we even bagged a free brownie 😋😋

Bought the cod bites yesterday, they were huge, came with this amazing curry sauce. Did not taste watery or flavourless, took me 30 minutes to go home but food was still piping hot. They have really good deals, wonderful people working there.

HALAL FRIENDLY and absolutely delicious! We are SO happy to have found a halal- friendly LOCAL chippy!! They have a separate fryer to ensure no cross contamination with other meats. The portions are more than generous, the food tastes amazing 🤩 and the staff are truly professional and friendly. I will never go anywhere else for F&C and I 100% recommend this place to everyone! You will not be disappointed!

This was SO good and welcome. Ahead of a weekend of singing - what was needed was a fish and chip supper. Opted for a mini fish and chips - and the portion size was that - just enough and left you wanting more - which is just how it should be! Service was excellent, friendly and authentic. It was consistently so with the few but wide variety of customers that came in. Whilst you might not come in for the 'atmosphere' - such what it was warm, spotless and comfortable. Fortuitously no-one ushered me out the door the minute I had finished eating allowing me to just hang whilst finishing business bits on my phone. Really very, very lovely.
