La Piola Italian Delicatessen in Leeds

My sister and I had wanted to try here for a while and let’s say it didn’t disappoint! It is so tiny so I highly recommend you book as I lost count of the number of people that were turned away whilst we were eating. It’s not flash in terms of decor, cute though and rustic. The staff are so lovely and really the reviews speak for themselves on the quality of the food. We shared the nduja croquettes and the arancini to start. I’m a big arancini fan and this spinach and mozzarella one was one of the best I have been had! And how a tomato sauce can taste so different to any other tomato sauce I’ll never know. My sister had the famed pistachio pasta for main and I the nduja orecchiette. It was beautiful, can’t rate it highly enough. The wine was very reasonably priced and our bill leaving a tip was £70. Not that we are by any means foodies so to speak but we eat in Leeds together at least once a month and very rarely go anywhere again mainly due to so many great places but I would love to come here again and I’m sure we will. I can imagine on an evening you would imagine that you were in Rome or Florence or somewhere equally as beautiful. Believe the hype about La Piola and go! 🥰❤️

Had a 7.30 booking on a November Wednesday. The restaurant decor is fairly basic but it is homely. It’s pretty small (say 25 covers) and was completely full when we arrived. We were sat down pretty quickly and could see walk-ins being turned away. The food was excellent and is hearty/rustic Italian in style. The two of us had 3 starters, 1 main, two desserts, 3 beers and 2 coffees. £67 (excluding tip.) Service was friendly and efficient. Excellent value.

An excellent lunch of aubergine pasta and lasagne at La Piola today to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Superb homemade Italian food complimented by friendly, welcoming and attentive service.

Hidden down a side street and down some steps but definitely worth finding. The best Arancini, delicious pasta and very tasty pizza - everything freshly cooked. The coffee is one of the best I’ve ever had and we finished off with some Cannoli - slightly different to ones I’ve previously had with a butterscotch type pastry - omg they were good…. not too mention friendly helpful service. Highly recommend- perfect.

Fantastic little place right in the heart of Leeds city centre. Warm friendly welcome, fantastic food and very relaxed. We loved it.

So glad we found this place on TA, booked and didn’t change our minds as we’d had such terrible journey into the centre of Leeds and were thinking of cancelling and eating near the hotel instead. Family of 3 shared a ham and cheese board to start. We then shared a vulacano pizza, ravioli with ricotta and spinach and the venison special. Tiramisu and affogato for sweet washed down with a glass of house red, glass of house white and a Moretti. Very compact little deli cafe, thanks Paolo.

Came here with my two friends at the start of February. It was great because one of my friends is practically allergic to everything lol - so it’s perfect for anyone with allergies/ dietary requirements. Such a cute space. The staff are friendly and attentive. But the food was amazinggg. Me and my friend shared some bits and we had some bread to start off with. A great experience. I highly recommend. This place is a gem of a find! Had an amazing lunch of cheese and ham platter, where every aspect of the platter was really high quality, the spinach and mozzarella arancini was super tasty, and the volcano and Gorgo pizzas were incredible, Gorgo in particular! We also bought a couple of Lasagnes to takeaway which were really tasty! Fabio is an amazing host! Really knowledgeable , and looks after his customers so much, and turned a number of non booked customers away to maintain the experience for those who booked, and booking is essential ! Wow, just wow! A little place which packs a ginormous punch and leaves a HUGE impact. We had a lovely brunch today. Coffee was good, our pasta dishes were great. My daughter had the tagliatelle gamberoni and I had the tortellini with aubergine. Both were delicious and we shared a tiramisu and pistachio cannoli. 2 coffees , 2 soft drinks, 2 main pasta dishes and 2 desserts for £44. A lovely find which we will definitely return to.
