Took a take away today. Pizza margarita and calamari with side salad. Beautiful food. Lovely lady. We'll repeat.

wow! What a find! Great little restaurant. The staff are so friendly and really helpful. The food tastes great! Beware! The portions are large! We made the mistake of having starters each and could not finish our main courses.! Bring your own alcohol and no corkage is charged. Would highly recommend

The food, the service, the food, the hospitality, the food are all amazing. Food is prepared with love, passion and culinary expertise and the owner / chef is always willing to flex dishes to suit individuals which is unique and wonderful. Portion sizes are so generous. Marinella always has a smile on her face and aims to please. The desserts are heavenly. The Cannoli is delicious and the dessert platter is brilliant with each dessert delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. A little jewel in Alwoodley!

I would go for coffee and take the Grandchildren for ice cream.

fantastic little family run Italian. Marinella and her brother Mario bring an authentic slice of Sicily to Leeds, they’re so welcoming and the food is great. Plenty of options including vegetarian and there are all sorts of traditional Italian treats to buy and take home as well. We went last Xmas eve for our family Christmas get together and we’ll be going again this year too 😋🎄

First ever visit and so delighted with everything. The reception the menu the friendliness and the time taken to talk us through the specials and the main menu. The food was excellent and made us feel like we were in a special friend’s house in Sicily. Absolutely loved it will definitely be going again

A great find whilst staying in the area. Small, unpretentious cafe with really excellent genuine Sicilian freshly-cooked food at very reasonable prices. Relaxed and friendly: highly recommended.

I absolutely love their carbonara. The best I can find in Leeds.

I asked for a recommendation and the suggestion was Carbonaro. It is not what I would usually choose but as this is a genuine Italian family I trusted them. I am so glad I did. It was amazing. Not the overly creamy version I avoid, but something of substance, depth, and moorish as hell. I will be asking for their recommendation next time as well.

Never disappointed - we went for a dinner on our Wedding Anniversary and enjoyed the great hospItality and excellent freshly cooked food. Excellent value for money with great portions and authentic flavours of southern Italy. The team at Marinellas always make one feel special and bring that little extra to the dining experence.

Well, we usually have the meatballs with penne..also love the minestrone soup, but today I had the bistecca...It was amazing ! Steak beaten to a thinness & rolled around cheeses & spinach...I would really recommend this delicious dish.

Alot of passion put into the food with a good selection and so many desserts to pick from. The owner talks you through the menu to wet your appetite. The restaurant is decorated to the season/event which keeps things fresh and the specials menu is varied and changes to keep things interesting.

I think this is my favourite restaurant in Leeds. The service is excellent - Marienella personally explains the provenance of ever authentic southern Italian dish and her family cook it fresh while you wait. The quality is superb and the tastes authentic. Always a pleasure to dine at Marienella's.

Never disappointed by the wonderful service and superb freshly cooked food. The authentic Sicilian cuisine is always a treat. We had a great range of starters, main courses and of course the great puddings.

We booked last minute and didn’t know what to expect. We arrived at 7.30om on Saturday evening and only one other table was occupied . Oh my word don’t be fooled this is the best food I’ve had in a very long time!! My husband and I went expecting a decent pizza and came away with our tastebuds exploded!! The garlic bread with tomato was so good. We shared it as a starter as it was £10 but it is worth every penny. There is a fairly basic menu on the tables but the lovely hostess ( all staff are Sicilian) talked us through 10 specials which were all really intriguing. I can’t tell you how tasty they were. I went for tagliatelle with garlic peas and asparagus my husband had flattened steak rolled up with spinach ricotta and pancetta. We thought we were stuffed but when they brought out the desserts we caved and had one ea h. Photos attached. The whole experience was like being in Sicily in someone home with the best traditional food made with love. I can’t recommend it enough. Prices also so good and bring your own alcohol is an added bonus. Nearly didn’t write a review as we don’t want it to get too busy but that’s selfish. Honestly this is a hidden

Went here today for the first time for Sunday lunch with my university student son and was amazed to discover such authentic Italian cuisine outside Italy. Marinella is from Sicily and serves the highest quality food and at very reasonable prices that I have ever experienced outside Italy. This is Italian home cooking at its very best. She also sells a good range of quality Italian products that she imports directly from Italy. Sadly I only visit Leeds from time to time but for all future visits, this gem of a restaurant will be a must stop.

What a find!! The very best environment for casual authentic dining! Been twice in two weeks and booked again 😀. Marinella is a genuine host with fantastic dedication … coffee in generous cups … with every possible choice available! Sardines … the best!! Garlic pizza. Seafood pasta!! So many choices…. And if you haven’t ever tried strawberries in sambucca with black pepper , well you need to!! 10/10.

My friend and I enjoyed an excellent meal again at Marinella’s. You won’t find a better pizza anywhere - and I’m not a great pizza fan - freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. Ours was topped with aubergines and peppers with ricotta as an extra. There is definitely that personal touch and Marinella adapted our salad to our particular taste. There is an extensive menu and my husband and I have enjoyed a variety of flavoursome dishes. A flavour of Sicily in a Leeds suburb.

We wanted Italian and picked this place from Google. Arrived and almost didn't go in because it looked more like a run of the mill cafe. However, we went in anyway and it terms of food it was one of our best decisions. This is authentic Italian home cooking of the very finest. Superb quality freshly prepared and beautifully served by a very kind and friendly Marinella whose cooking is clearly the result of generations of family experience. Next time I am within 30 miles of Alwoodly I know exactly where I will be eating. I can't commend the food too highly

Marinella kept the restaurant open for us on a Saturday evening. She spent the time explaining the dishes and prepared it all herself. I cannot recommend this place enough. I was there with my wife and parents. I thoroughly recommend it. Well done. Will be coming back here.

Wow! What a hidden gem this place is. I was over from Manchester with my husband and children to visit my family in Alwoodly for the Easter holidays. We booked Marinella's for Saturday evening dinner. Marinella's is a small family restaurant with a big heart. The lady owner went though the specials with us first. Everyone ordered something different. Food was amazing which her brother cooked using fresh ingredients and herbs. This place is not like the usual Italian restaurants that you go to - you can tell this is genuine Sicilian home cooked food, made with love and passion. Portions generous and flavour owesome. I felt like we were actually eating in their family kitchen! Then came the deserts - I don't think I have seem such an aray of freshly prepared delicacies. None of the frozen cheese cakes or gateaux that you usually get. This was our first visit but will definitely not be our last! Will definitely go again next time I'm over!!

Read the reviews and thought it sounded great ordered the pizza it was the worse pizza iv ever eaten. Raw dough no flavour and tasted of nothing. My partners was the same and the pasta dish ordered wasn’t good. I’m afraid I won’t be visiting again can cook a lot better my self and I’m not Italian

She forgot our pizza order!! We waited nearly an hour! Shocking food... i was very sick!! Avoid this horrible place. Food is overpriced and not fresh!

We called to order pizzas for collection. We were told they would be ready at 2.15. We turned up at 2.15 to be told to wait another 10 mins. We waited and waited....2.50 it was ready!!.. she forgot our order!! Absolutely horrendous way to treat customers. I was sick all that night! Food not fresh! We will not be going back! Shocking experience all round it has put me off pizzas for life!
