The best restaurants serving African food in England

I placed an order for pick up at the Hendon restaurant on the 18th of April 2025 with Ranadeer. I collected my order only to find that one of the items was wrong when I got home. I called the restaurant back and was told I will be issued a refund of £22 for the wrong item. I was very upset as the wrong item was inedible for myself and my family and I had to give it out so my family not only had less to eat but wasted money. For over three weeks now, I have been chasing the restaurant for the promised refund. The refund was meant to have arrived since 2 weeks ago but here I am weeks later still awaiting and chasing for the refund. Ranadeer and all the other staff I’ve spoken to at the Hendon branch have been giving me the run around and dodging. They claim a Mr James is the manager but never let me speak to him or will say he will call back but never any call back. I find this behaviour disgusting and unacceptable. This is why globally, they say Nigerians are scammers since this is the type of behaviour displayed even when conducting business!!! My birthday is coming up in June and I was going ordering food (ordered over £100 worth of food) to test and potentially book the venue for a private event but this entire situation has really upset me to the point that I will rather go to another Nigerian restaurant. After all, Wazobia and Mama Calabar are also in the same vicinity as this restaurant in Hendon so I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. Avoid this place and their shady business practices!!!!

Terrible customer service. No communication. Ordered delivery & paid, waited and waited but it never came. Ring to find out they have cancelled my order but couldn't be bother to tell me. Turns out they don't deliver 5 mile only 3 mile radius so not sure why they took the order or my money... (which I still haven't got back yet) waited an hour before I called them and found this out, if I hadn't we would of probably still been waiting as they had no intention of telling us. Absolute joke of a restaurant and My 6 year old is now starving

Buena comida pero mal servicio. Pedido retrasado más de media hora después de pedir mi comida para obtener servicio de mesa. Estaba decepcionado con Shaky muy pequeña pieza 2 libras!

Very very bad service and they discriminate against their customers. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I don’t normally even bother writing reviews if the food is bad but I genuinely have to write a review as I was sooo disappointed . The okra soup was not slimy at all , it looked like it was blended them poured into a bowl. The pounded yam was not good at all. The beef was soo hard , I honestly think it had been in the pot for too long and the meet tasted out of date. This is not me bashing you guys but please take this review as critism to improve . I’ve never been soo disappointed enough to write a review in my life considering the price of their food as well. However I will say that the lady was really lovely , I just think the food needs some improvement

High price point for small portions snd little flavour

The food was late however it was not the restaurant’s fault. The lady who’s at the restaurant tried her hardest to get the food to me ASAP. I’m so grateful. The food was amazing, thank you so much ❤️

We visited the place with family and friends for a meal out. There is building work is ongoing in the surroundings. The location is not the best because it is within the Deptford market area but easily accessible by buses and the Deptford train station is in front of the restaurant. Service was quick and food was really nice – we ordered varieties of Nigerian food. Food price was on average between £5 - £15 per meal. Drinks are mid-range in price. Staff are professionally nice, polite and friendly. I will definitely visit again.

Despite the reviews, I went hopeful as the images of the food looked very appealing. 84 West is in the wrong location!! It ought to be situated in KNIGHTSBRIDGE due to the outlandish prices. The music is too loud to have a conversation If you want to sit upstairs it’s a minimum £1000 spend, (of course it was largely EMPTY!! When the food arrived, nicely presented, it tasted DISGUSTING and I picked at it before giving up… my friends also agreed that the taste was inedible…. 🤢 Won’t be long before this closes as I’m sure food inspectors will be paying this establishment a visit. I managed to check the food rating of this place , it was no surprise that it was rated 0- requiring URGENT ATTENTION‼️‼️ Check for yourself……

Very rude staff and owner ordered food and it tasted like it was stored for a week. Their food isn't fresh and rather than fix thier service they would rather call customers to try and get them to accept the stale good they served

I purchased a Leon 2 good 2 go dinner bag and paid £4.99 on the app. I was greeted by a member of the Leon staff who was friendly and easy to chat to. I explained I was collecting a 2 good 2 go bag. The member of staff told me what was available, and I had the choice of what I wanted. There were only 2 options. Thai green chicken curry rice box and chargrilled chicken rice box with alioli. I was given the option of having 1 of each box or taking 2 of the same. I decided to take 1 of each. The process of collecting the food was very easy and the staff member was very chatty. When I received the food, both boxes were hot. Once I got home, which is a 10minute drive away, the food wasn’t as hot but was at a warm temperature and could still be eaten. I tried a small amount from both boxes, and I have no complaints at all. Both boxes had plenty of food inside. Which could be shared between 2 people. The flavours of both dishes were amazing. I will definitely go back again to Leon, for the delicious food and the friendly staff

Fun and friendly staff, ordered meal at the till and surprised with how fast the food came out, very much enjoyed it too. Ordered desert from the table via the app, not used the app before so not sure if it's normally temperamental or not but they didn't seem to get the order through. Wasn't a huge deal to us but we got our deserts instantly after speaking to a waiter and were offered a cheesecake as a way of apology for the delay. Cheers guys!!

Pido de ellos regularmente cada vez que estoy de vuelta en el noroeste de Londres. No está mal el servicio, aunque creo que cuando se pone ocupado la comida tarda más de lo deseado.
