Absolutely vile food. Didn't eat nothing of it. Apart from trying it. Over £50 worth of food straight into the bin

Sorry I would not eat here at all. There's no hygiene certificate up, I don't think it's even a restaurant licensed with the local authority cos its got vlothes in the window. Grubby, smelly and just horrible. Nice lady who runs it, but far below expected standards. No idea if food is OK we ordered cos Id forward paid, but we didn't eat it.

I'm a nigerian also and this will go down in my personal history book as the worst jollof, fried rice, puff and and dumpling was terrible and plantain. On top of that the owner tried to charge me £2 extra for delivery. That is not professional. She did try and take cinstrycyuve feedback but I will need a refund

Decided to try out this place over the other place I go to to see how it compares. This was a great choice. The lady who works there is so lovely, she has a beaming smile while serving her customers! I tried the African food, I have yet to try the Carribbean. I ordered, Banga soup and Egusi soup with Semolina Fufu and Jollof rice. All tasted so good though Banga will always have that spot in my heart. My son loved it too as always. It could have had a little more spicy kick to it, though I'm a spice lover so that's just my personal taste talking. I would definitely come back again. I'll try the Oxtail next time. Thank you.

The customer service was great. The lady was really lovely. When I spoke to the lay I let her know the food was nice because I had only tasted the plantain. The fish was not seasoned and it had too much onion , the maize meal was not properly cooked , the suya tastes odd and tasted weird , the egusi soup was not very nice. The restaurant has potential but they have to pay attention to the flavour. The last time I ordered it was nice but not sure what happened this time.

The food might be good but the driver refused to leave the car and did not pick up multiple calls and hanged up instead, when called the restaurant cause have not even seen where the driver was to ask how come he cannot come to the door I got an answer "its our normal way you have to come out" despite explaining to the woman i have a 3 month old baby on my hand they insisted he could not come to the door and i had to come out let me highlight its well past 9pm at night and was at home alone with baby. Absolutely disgusting service

I don’t understand why this place has bad reviews because the food tasted amazing ! I bought african food and I enjoyed it . The potions are a bit small to be honest . But the taste was great , the customer services was great . I will definitely be ordering again 😍! Thank you

The food was 2 hours late, the food was completely different to what we ordered, they just gave us what they wanted to get rid of and not what we ordered. The food was very cold and hard and cheap and burnt! The delivery was done by taxi and they made us go out and get the food from the taxi, who was parked at the wrong address!

If you’re looking for quality Caribbean food, this ain’t it! The lady called us and told us she didn’t have certain foods left and gave us other options, we chose and the food that came was different even from the 2nd choices we made! It came 2 hours late, it was hard and cold, the rice was very very cheap. Stew chicken was watery. Patties were hard, dry and burnt. They didn’t deliver to us, they sent the food in a taxi and then made us go to the taxi to collect the food.

The wait for the food was a joke. I called multi told times to se when the food will be coming and each time it was a “it’s on the way” I live 12mins drive away from Divine, yet the food came 45mins late. Food was honestly terrible. The only edible thing was the plantain. Okra was disgusting. Jollof rice tasted like it had been frozen prior and was defrosted in the microwave with added water. It wasn’t flavourful at all (and I’m not taking about the spice level). On the bright side I was given a partial refund, which really should’ve been a full refund seeing as I had spent over £40 for such rubbish as well as the ridiculous wait time.

I won’t recommend. Spent almost £50 and the food were horrible, the pepper soup and stew was bitter, the jollof rice and fried rice was off, probably been in the freezer for a while before they warmed them. The only decent thing I could manage to eat was the moi moi, everything also I had to go in the bin because no one in the will touch it.

The chicken had no flavour but the taste of oil and the jollof rice also lacked a lot of flavour. From that and the Egusi that we ordered, the pounded yam was the only thing that was of great quality.

Service was good. Pounded yam and egusi was a generous portion and very nice. Jollof rice was a bit bland. Moi moi pale but a nice texture and taste. Yam pottage was a good combination of yam pieces and pottage. Minimum order could be lower, particular at this time. However a good variety and reasonable pricing.

DONT ORDER FROM HERE! Ordered £40 worth of Carribbean food and had to throw it in the bin! Cold and not edible and when I phoned to let them know they forgot items the lady was rude! Waste of money!

Bought a Groupon Voucher & visited this restaurant with an open mind thinking it couldn't be that bad. I could not believe what I entered into when I got there. The dining area was as though I had stepped back 50 years!!!!! Decor was dark and dreary and the TV was so loud, I couldn't hear myself think. As for the food.......I can only say, it is by far my worst experience in ANY restaurant I have been to. .... EVER.......Best not to advertise Carribbean food ...is the only advice I can give..... I had oxtail, rice and peas which is usually my favourite Carribbean dish. It was heated from frozen and tasteless. Not good at all. There was no ambierce just a feeling of depression and anxiety. I almost ran out before food was swrved but thought "let me remain professional and stick it out". Maybe good for someone who wants a good old fashioned Nigerian experience but certainly not for me.... so sorry, I gave one star but really didn't deserve any. The lady who served us was lovely and well meaning so one star for her!!!!

Si desea buena comida recién hecha, tanto africana como jamaicana, entonces este lugar Divine, también conocido como The African Cottage, ubicado en Soho Road en Handsworth, es muy recomendable. Excelente y amable servicio al cliente. Si está buscando comida recalentada precocinada de comida rápida, vaya a McDonald's. Para calidad come aquí en Devine, también conocido como la cabaña africana.

This restaurant is run by this sweet lovely lady. Despite the restaurant setting, she delivers what Nigerians call a 'home service', where time, love and passion goes into the service and dish, yes, she did take time serving us as she was the only one in the restaurant, but as a chef, a restaurant consultant, and a food business owner, it is one of the freshest and most delicious meals I have ever had in the entire UK, and I have been around. The wait was definitely worth it. BEST NIGERIAN FOOD IN BIRMINGHAM

I was staying in a Birmingham City Centre hotel and felt like ordering African takeaway and the food was incredibly tasty and the right proportion. Definitely recommend your food.

the food was supposed to be delivered at 2:50pm, they added 30 mins to the delivery time. I was fine with it. Then at 2:20 the food is still not delivered, so I call them, and they tell me that it is going to take another 30 mins for the food to get here. I asked him to cancel the order because it’s taking the absolute mickey, and he’s asking me why? it’s already being made. had to call Just Eat to cancel the order and refund my money because it’s actually ridiculous.

El plato de plátano era tan bueno, mi hijo ordenó más para llevar a casa. El fufu con egwusi fue muy bueno. También tenía Nigerian Star beer y Nigerian Fanta. También sirven platos caribeños, pero con una cocina nigeriana, ¿por qué optar por algo más que la comida africana?

after seeing some of the negative reviews I was apprehensive about ordering from here. but the food came on time and the egusi was really really good I can't complain about the quality. I think you should definitely give them a chance x

so disappointed being a African/ Jamaican eating this meal it looked wonderful but tasted really bad .. the jollof was tasteless the wrong rice used no spice the curry goat was definitely not cooked for very long curry goat should be sliding of the bone not hard a chewy for the price this is defo not worth it and just eat need to look into this honestly because customers are spending £20+ for poor quality food which took ages to come it saddens me that by reading all the reviews just eat have no ended there contract with this place :(

My food was late & absolutely discusting. The oxtail was not even in gravy it was surrounded in a tray of oil. The mutton patties I order I was told I could have and that my only other option was African meat pie which she claimed was the same thing when it is seriously not, when they arrived they were burnt and stunk of smoke, I still don’t understand how someone could even burn a Pattie it’s beyond me 😐 the smell was absolutely vile that the only thing I could consume was my sprite, a drink I didn’t even order because I asked for a simple lemonade and was told they didn’t have that. African and Caribbean restaurant? There’s nothing Caribbean about it they only said that to get more customers! 85% of the menu is African and when u order Caribbean food your told u have to have the African version. Absolutely disgraceful, they need to loose there licence and start over again! Maybe in an African store something there probably experienced in. Never in my life will I order from there again! I refuse to feed my child that pathetic excuse for Caribbean food!

Initially the delivery was meant to arrive an hour and a half after I've made the order which is fair enough because African food takes longer to get ready ! 2 hours after I've called the restaurant saying that my food wasnt here and the lady said that the driver was on its way ! So I was waiting. Then I called just eat to tell them that my food was late, they called the restaurant and the lady said that the driver had some traffic issues ! So basically 3 hours after I was still waiting for my food ! I called back the lady an hour after and she still told me that the driver was on its way. The driver finally arrived at 7:50 ish and the order was made at 4:30pm !!!!! Shame. I've asked the driver if he was on its way an hour and a half ago and he said no, so she even lied to me ! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!

Food poor,chicken tasteless. It took over 2 hrs before I received the food. A rude woman called after 1.5 hrs telling me I would have to pay more as it was going to cost her £10 because of where I was. It is unwise to order from this place.

I have ordered from here several times each hoping it would be better the next. Extremely long delivery times (think 2 hrs+), poor customer service, and terrible caribbean food (most of the African food is better in comparison).

Please read the reviews, even on trip advisor.They're all right. Not worth the headache I went through with the delivery time for mediocre food I could have cooked better myself. I ordered food here and it took 3 hours to get it! I even had to get hungry house involved no almost cancelled 3 times but each half hour I called they said my food was already on it's way and it was only 2.5 miles away from me and a 10 minute drive. I could tell they were lying. Absolutely terrible!!!

I have never experienced such unprofessional and unorganised service in my life! Ordered my food at 8pm it is now past 11:00 and my food has not arrived! It is clear that the food will not arrive. Spoke to the receptionist twice who made me aware the order would be no longer than 15mins. I have sat around for over 2HOURS to wait for an order to never arrive. Never ordering here again.
