Hh food was meant to arrive between 20:15 and 20:40 and I only received it at 9pm. Driver was also extremely rude, saw me struggling with my newborn and decided to complain abt the time it took for me to open the door

Stand down one of the best African Restaurants in the UK! The food from different African countries under one roof! The food is tasty,portions are good,prices are decent,Service is great-lovely interactive waiters.

I was here with few friends last weekend and I must be honest the ambiance and services were amazing. The waiters and front desk were patient and intentional. But they really really need to train their chef on how to prepare African dishes. We ordered an appetizer of pepper soup, it was delicious. We went ahead to order rice and swallow 😱 they were terrible and horrible. The jollof was giving precooked white rice mixed with oil and salt with a touch of coloring. The bitter leave soup was looking like mashed pounded yam with a touch of red oil. I had to ask them to take out the soup and get me vegetable soup and that became worst, it was dead on arrival. Honestly I felt we wasted money buying those foods cuz we barely ate them.

Food is very expensive and waiting time very very long

Place an order on the phone before I arrived at the restaurant. Almost 2 hours after I placed the order and still yet to served my order. Pathetic and embarrassing of a restaurant. This is the second time African Village is doing this to me. They sell your order to people who ordered for delivery service. This is a DISGRACE!

Order food for collection. Find out these people served me leftovers. Very terrible food. Had to throw away most of the food. When I challenged them they only said we are sorry and will check with the kitchen staff.

This place smelled like the bathroom erupted in the air. The lady had a stale attitude. The food is horrible you can’t have bad service and bad food.

So Tasteless !!! The stew and the White rice, no salt in it. This is not how Nigerian stew tastes. Am so disappointed that I ordered 2 plates of rice but we didn’t eat it nor enjoyed it. I will not order from here pls. Thank you

The worst place to try African foods this was my first experience on African food. I've tried the fried rice and jerk chicken. The rice was so dry Nigerian beef stew describe African food but it doesn't represent Africa food at all. I wouldn't recommend you if it's your first time

Me and my partner have been spending £100+ in this place each week for nearly 2 years now. Sometimes we take out and sometimes we eat in. When we eat in and order special fried rice and fish you get coleslaw but when we order the same meal for take away you have to pay for the coleslaw? Then when you eat in and want to take away the food you have already paid for you now have to pay £1 each for containers “because things are becoming expensive now” as quoted by the person serving. Each week there is something new and I can assure you we won’t be returning for silly things like that. Well done you for losing a loyal paying! £400+ loss each month … I guess things are becoming expensive now.

I order a delivery of Egusi stew with pounded yam and joh this was delicious. I’m a South African and wanted to try Nigerian food for a long time. For my first time this was really amazing and definitely set the bar. The stew went amazing with the Yam and the flavours were great. It is quite spicy but that didn’t stop me from chowing it down lol. The meal I think was suppose to be for two people as it was a lot but that just means I can save some for later. Will definitely buy from here again!

Very poor place, food takes hours, the service (owner) looks like she’s constipated. No manner of customer services at all here. The actual food itself, average at best. This place doesn’t deserve the name “African village” it’s more like African Dump

Just had a traditional bowl of the most scintillating "Isiewu" (diced goat head with special sauce). The taste, aroma, presentation and quantity is just too good to be true. The last time I had something similar, I was in Nigeria. I had to restrain myself from staying overnight to have some more. I was not paid for this review; just the juices of the food ignited my literary fires. 😍😍😍. Well done African village 💥🎉🙌👏👏

Awful food and service: I ordered “Assorted Meat Soup Starter” for home delivery, as I was expecting pepper soup which I ordered before when I went into the restaurant with a friend 2 weeks before. I like it when I eat it at the restaurant, hence I ordered home delivery expecting the same "Assorted Meat Soup Started" I ordered before. After waiting 1hr 20minutes, it eventually arrived. What was send looks like egusi soup mixed with lots of water, doesn't smell nice and taste nothing like pepper soup (Assorted Meat Soup Starter) I eat at the restaurant. I normally do not give review, but this is so bad that I have to vent and let other people know about this. I was not only disappointed but furious after waiting more than an hour to get watery egusi soup or whatever watery soup that was sent. And I think the person that sent it thinks the customer will not know or what. Or they are fool? The most annoying part is that my child was sick and wanted pepper soup but end up getting crap instead. It just a shame that I can;t give zero star. I am going to be very honest and blunt with my review because I’m still very angry, cause I drove 25mins to this place. I’m highly disappointed, bought a plate of assorted meat pepper soup and a plate of jollof rice with fried fish for £17 and a bottle drink for £3. Firstly, the receptionist service was terrible, I went there last night with my friend who felt very uncomfortable with the way the receptionist kept staring at him annoyingly. The foods are expensive and that wasn’t even a problem but it just wasn’t worth half d price it cost let alone the full price. The pepper soup looked like oily tomatoes puke and the assorted meats in it was extremely over cooked, it tasted awful and I couldn’t even eat it, The jollof rice wasn’t well cooked and it seems like it’s has been cooked for days, the dried fish was too oily and it tasted spoiled! The only nice thing I bought was just the bottled drink, everything else was a mistake 😪, I couldn’t make a video of the jollof cause I threw it away before I got home, but I was able to make a video of the pepper soup

I’m not gonna lie, I used to really enjoy going to African Village but the last few times have been very mid. The service used to be a lot better and so did the food. We got Ogbono soup, vegetable and fried rice. The Ogbono was slightly bland and could have done with more seasoning and pepper 🌶️. The vegetable was overcooked so was really soft - I don’t like it too soft but some people do! The fried rice was not too bad but we waited ages for it to come!! The best bit was the fact that they serve one of my favourite Cameroonian drinks, Top!

So an order was placed for me by a friend as I was visiting Birmingham for the first and I was living in an Air bnb and the food came without spoon or fork. Y’all can do better. Also whatever you do don’t order the fried rice. It was tasteless. The jollof rice is on point soo good.

I visited Birmingham from London and decided to try out the food. As someone who is used to 5 star hotels and restaurants, I must say I was treated very well. I'd highly recommend this place.

I took my friend from Guinea, we ate at a booth, he ordered the Bitter Leaf soup with Pounded Yam, I had the Attieke, he loved the meal, the same taste as the food from his home country. I enjoyed the music and relaxed atmosphere.

Very dirty smelly place! Dis-organised. Eeeeuk! When we entered just the smell of the toilet made me not order and we took a drink from our bottle after we left!

A very good atmosphere with a lovely D.J. The management is approachable and polite with words. I was told to have a change of seat which initially I didn't find pleasant but overall I still enjoyed the hrs spent there.

I have been fasting for 3 days and was hoping I could eat some local dish. I can't even begin to explain this. I wish there is a way I can post pictures. This is very bad I am disappointed.

If I had seen the reviews here before going to the restaurant , I don't think I would have wasted my precious time going there. I'm supposed to give this restaurant a zero rating if there is one. A very dirty smelly place, especially the smell of the toilet was just everywhere. In fact everything is just wrong about the place.. I ordered for pepper soup today I was given meat broth instead which was even tasteless and unpalatable, I nearly puked... I couldn't eat it, even the edikakoing soup my wife ordered was nothing to write home about as the food was tasteless and sandy. Wasted my hard earned money and time😠. How I wish there was Enish restaurants around us, I would have been very much happy as it's still the best African restaurant I've been to. Please African village you guys need to do something about everything in your facility.

I went to African village to buy punted yam and okro soup after church on Sunday . Normally I go to empress but they don’t do okra soup . When I got there the lady at the desk was not smiling , not hospitable and she responded like she’s being forced to be there. But I just overlooked that as food was what I came for . I got my order and I ate it when I got home.within 4 hours I started getting feverish with stomach cramps . It didn’t really at the time click that it’s the food I are , until I started having diarrhoea and vomiting . It became so bad I had to call an ambulance as I became weak and as a nurse I knew I will need my electrolytes replaced . As I speak am at the hospital QE Birmingham , with confirmed food poisoning . I will be reporting this matter to the Infection Control Team.

HORRIBLE FOOD. The nyama choma meat tasted bad and had an horrible old smell. The fried yam was like cardboard, and the plantain was overwrapped and soggy, it was a waste of money… All the food that was delivered to me you was food that has been in the freezer for a very long time, I will not recommend this restaurant.

It's a very cool place, I always want to be there every weekend and it takes me back home with all the local “Nigerian” dishes.

This place is dirty, the service is appalling, the waiter attitudes rude. The place is crowded with drunk people and unsafe looking people. This was my experience 4 years ago at Perry barr and I made the Mistake of going there again today at their lozells address and it’s the same disgusting service, dirty restaurants and drugged up looking people. Food takes 1 hr to arrive. Really bad experience everytime. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Should have read the reviews before going there. The food is absolute rubbish. Ordered Edikaikong, got Egusi instead. The Egusi was terrible. Zero star if possible.

Soup belongs in the garbage. Disgusting. I regret it. Tasted stored for days. I threw up to it. What a waste of money. I really was looking forward to that mbanga soup. Never again.

Sorry but Nkwobi too tough and flavourless very undercooked and not enough juices. Egusi soup not tasty at all. The rest was ok but will not be ordering again as most ended up being thrown away. Very disappointed 😞

Rubbish place to eat everyone stares at you like your from another planet when you walk in cans of pop are £3.50 the portions are incredibly small and extortionate the food was dry and the owner has no response to any complaints greedy africans.

This is a best place for those who are in Birmingham and those who are just visited Birmingham to have a fun, to share good time with family or friends. They used to play several kind of music. I will recommend Fish ( tilapia) and goat 🐐 meat.

It's amazing place to be and their grill Tilapia is hmmmm yummy. Please try their spinach sauce with Tilapia it's so delicious, tast and spice is on point 👉..... you won't go wrong, i promise. 😋

The worst Okra stew I have ever tasted! It was tasteless and a waste of money...

I was under the impression they open 2pm so wouldn't have to wait long for food, waited over an hour after pre-ordering, on arrival there was a terrible smell, somewhat like a bin/off food. After getting the food the whole bag smelt of the same smell was looking forward to trying new food was not a good experience . I ordered egusi soup, pepper soup, n jollof rice, all of which were disgusting this defo has given Nigerian food a bad name will not b trying again!!!

I should have Read the reviews first before ordering, and seen that there’s a reason why they don’t have flying reviews. First and last time I will come to this restaurant. The customer service is poor…. Won’t be returning my business to these people. Managements customer service is poor too and the staff are unprofessional. I will take my business where it is appreciate. Good luck to this company surviving in this competitive market with their attitude.

Ordered the okro soup and Gari. It was delivered early and the food was piping hot. Prepared well, tasty and delicious, with very good portions. So very happy and will definitely order again if need be.

I strongly believe this restaurant has one of the best delicious dishes out there however tonight i was extremely sad, disappointed with the order. The food(the fish) was beyond spicy very chilled me, my wife and the kids couldn't enjoyed, i sincerely hope next time the staff could follow the instructions(costumer wishes) .. DO NOT ADD CHILLI
