From the time we stepped in Taz looked after us all the way until we left making sure we were well cared for, also the rest of the staff were very attentive

Great food recommended to us as it was our first time coming to Afrikana as a married couple, and ma Sha Allah there was excellent service from a waiter named touseef. Food came out within 15 mins and our server touseef was very fast and funny. It was a nice atmosphere and quite chill considering it was a Saturday. Would definitely come again.

Easy access via Uber. Costs roughly 6 pounds from the town centre. Bus transport available too. I must recommend the customer service. Employees go over and above to ensure customers are satisfied. Shout out to Faz for having served us really well. The Food tastes great, I delved into the food and didn’t take any pictures, only remembered once done eating😂

Visited the smaller branch in Walsall before have been meaning to try out this one in Birmingham and it did not disappoint. The aesthetics and ambience of this place is beautiful. Loved the tropical vibes this place gives off. The food was presented beautifully with some dry ice for the vibes. We ordered the boneless platter and Island fish and chips as there was 4 of us dining for our daughter’s birthday. The food tasted delicious, the flavours were perfect. The platter came with so much food we got to take some of it home as we could not finish it. Can’t wait to visit again soon. 10/10 would highly recommend

Great decor which gives an authentic African feel and the food is amazing. They have recently refurbed and their is plenty of seating. We had a huge platter and also tried their steaks. Mocktails are a must try too!

Service and atmosphere is great, BUT the food is very average for the beautiful cuisines (West African & Caribbean) that are being served. For the Jollof rice, I recommend they cook with long grain rice instead of basmati, otherwise the extravagant flavours of jollof are flattened in basmati. The plantain was 10/10 so bravo on that 👏🏽The chicken was good but didn’t blow my mind. It actually reminded me quite a bit of Nandos. The lamb chops were OK but not to the level of Pakistani Lahori lamb chops. For people that may not be accustomed to West African or Caribbean food, this might be a restaurant that scratches your itch. However if like me, you divulge in authentic Caribbean and west African food (often home made), then the flavours at Afrikaana could be better in my humble opinion.

Amazing atmosphere, superb service and delicious food!!

I had the steak and starter with me and some friends. It was magical how incredible the food was the sweet and sour blend with the salty chicken all melted together into a stunning experience. If I’m ever in Birmingham and don’t get shanked I’m coming back to this place!

Ordered We MEAT AGAIN (lamb chops, chicken and steak + sides) to share and everything was delicious!! The lamb chops were the best I’ve ever had 🤤 Definitely we will meet again at Afrikana, 5 stars! 🌟

Fantastic food and brilliant hospitality from the staff. Food came out in A timely manner, it was piping hot and fresh. All the flavours tasted amazing and unique. This place Out does any grilled chicken place such as Nando’s or Pepe’s. Inside and out, it is clean and well Presented. I am a gym fanatic and this place gives me an amazing post workout meal. This is my go to place

I don’t dine out much during Ramadan, but due to it being my birthday we decided to try out Afrikana. I’d been before, many years ago but I do not remember it being as brilliant as it was this time. Staff were great. Very attentive and friendly. And the foood!! Wow, I’m so glad I went for The Salmon Cure. It was extremely flavourful & the spice was exactly to my liking. The Bun True Love looked amazing too. Next time I’m definitely trying the peri chicken & the island fish & chips 😍 thank you for a wonderful dinner 🤍

Food arrived but no drinks asked the waiter he forgot the drinks took 10 mins getting drinks by than food was getting cold than when finished the food asked waiter for the bill no one came asked 3 waiters for the bill than it finally arrived had to wait another 10 15 minutes for them to collect the bill Bill was 47.10 gave £50 quid than waited ages for change took so long to return I just walked out the shop with family Overall food was ok asked for fish and chips but never had it so ordered butterfly chicken Atmosphere is lovely Food was ok Service was poor

First time in this restaurant for my friends birthday, food was good we had to wait quite a while because it was super busy, there was a lovely African gentleman that served us he was amazing he suggested us what to get on the menu overall we had a good time when the restaurant got quite he even made us choose our own songs to listen to while in the restaurant

Been here a few times now at different times of the day and everytime the food has been absolutely spot on! Quick and Quality service all round. Really good for the kids too. If you’re on Ladypool Rd this should be your next go to spot. Always get looked after by brother Jay too!

Afrikana in Birmingham literally had the best tasting food, the best customer service I have experienced in a number of years. Also, the decor was quite impressive. I ended up ordering their mocktails about 4times simply because of how great it tasted 🤤

I’ve been here a couple times before in London and the experience wasn’t great but this my second time at the Birmingham branch and the food the vibes the service was nothing sort of perfection. Also took my friends here for the time and they loved every minute of it. Food great drinks were amazing I can’t wait to go back

Well worth a visit. Food is different to anywhere else. The fish and chips are genuinely the best you'll ever have.. The bunny chow is hearty. The grilled chicken is better than Nandos. The atmosphere is good and the service was excellent. Chatting to Tashfin made our evening a top evening all round.

Visited afrikana this evening and I was so impressed. The customer service was brilliant we wasn’t welcomed in and was able to sit right away. The person who took our order was very polite. Our food came out fast was nice and hot. The portions were really good as well. I will be returning. Thank you all keep up the positive work.

Got a steak for myself and a fish and chips for my wife. Food was amazing especially the steak. Waiter was Tee and he said to get the steak. First time trying out this place after it was recommended to us by our friends and family. The decor was really nice and welcoming, being it a Saturday night, it was packed but we still got a table quickly. We were recommended We Goat Your Back to which we were pleasantly surprised on how delicious it was. Service was spectacular thanks to tee and touseef for their wonderful service and suggestions.

First time trying this place after hearing so much about it. The decor was really good, being it a Saturday, it was packed but we still got a table quick. Food was great, however it was the service which was stupendous a waiters by the name of touseef and tee served my family’s table and they were excellent great service and great mannerisms. They recommended the island fish and chips and it turned out to be a treat. Highly recommend a visit here.

Service was too good but the food was cold It was bad experience

Meal was very tasty 'Edgie Veggie Wrap' with 'Africana fries'. At to pay £1 extra for change from normal fries. Also had 3 scoops of ice cream which was a bit annoying with price as menu advertised it was cheaper to have 2 scoops instead of one but didn't say only applies if you have same flavour. Not much choice for Vegetarians & Vegans. No hot drinks available. Love the decor and good service.

Love the flavours on the dishes at Afrikana 👌🏽 My favourite which I recommend is the “we goat your back” dish 😋👌🏽 Beautiful restaurant with some of the friendliest staff 👍🏽 Acha teh bala taikoh (stay blessed) 😊

Update: went today with a great deal of excitement, but was sadly disappointed. This time I tried a burger and the prawns, but the prawns had totally changed. The flavour had gone from delectible to depleated. The small pot of salad was again sweet and amazing the last time, but this time I couldnt finish it - way too spicy. The burger (described in the menu as smash patties) was far from - I have had a lot of smash patties and this was more like standard processed beef patties - not smashed at all. Again, left me gutted. Finally the fries - they were lovely. Cannot complain about the fries. Also, previously you could choose your sides with the platters - not they are set, so there's less variety. Furthermore, it seems there were at least 4 birthday celebrations during my time there and the music was far far too loud. When I offered feedback to the waiter, he suggested I inform head office (not in a rude way, but more in a dejected manner that the menu was not in their control). Original review: I had no idea how good African cuisine was! The best thing I tried was the prawns (and yet I am a massive steak fan).

Yet another revisit, this time we had big poppa. Bun true love and chicken rotisserie, all were good.

It was a busy Saturday still managed to get a table. Prebooking would have made it so much easier. Had the island fish and chips, VERY generous portions. And the food was great. Service was impeccable 👌 nothing was too much.

Today, I ventured out with the simple intention of trying a new dining spot. To my delight, the culinary experience was truly delightful. We opted for chicken, hummus with sweet potato fries, and indulged in refreshing mocktails. Every dish was delightful. The service, helmed by H, our waiter, was exceptional—warm, professional, and with a pleasant demeanour that added to the experience. The ambiance was beautiful, enhancing our evening. While the prices were reasonable, it would have been perfect to conclude with a warm drink. I kindly suggest adding warms drinks to the menu. Thank you for providing us with a delightful evening that didn't strain the wallet.

If I could give these guys 10 stars I would. They have the nicest food ever not one thing on the menu was substandard, and their service was impeccable. Would highly recommend these guys.

We visited this branch as we had traveled from Yorkshire, what a lovely family vibe, the staff were extremely attentive and the drinks and food were flowing as it should within a dining establishment. We will definitely visit again!

Visited from down south Best waiter called Tash gave really good recommendations, very honest. Good vibes, good decor, good music Delicious mocktails . Would definitely recommend this place. Will tell all my friends about it. Curry Goat with rice and plantain is top tier 👌🏾 and the island dream mocktail is heavenly

Wonderful experience, didn’t feel rushed for time. The servers are tentative. The meat in my steak you can tell is pure class! Not any cheap steak used. Thank you Jay and Tash for being so brilliant!

Tried afrikana for the first time in birmingham. It did not disappoint, had the "we goat your back" and it did not disappoint. The flavours were great, and the service was impeccable.

Went afrikana Saturday for my kids birthday, it was a full house but they still managed to get me a table. I suggest booking in advance. Food was great, and the waiters were really good with the kids

We actually ordered takeaway. It was the first time tasting their food. We had ordered Whole chicken (fire pit seasoning) half a chicken with fries (Cajun seasoning) and the fried chicken fillet with rice. I thought it was absolutely delicious, juicy, tasty and spicy. It was definitely worth the price. I would order again but sadly it's not in my hometown 😭

Always worth a visit when you need a change of cuisine. Food was tasty, we had the island fish n chips dish and the large cod was filling. Restaurant had a few tables at the time, Staff were attentive. Surprisingly our food came out within around 7 or 8 minutes just after we ordered.

This one is getting a 3.6 Good decor , clean restaurant and service wasn't bad. Food was good and flavourful. 3.6 for the following. Drinks and some items are overpriced. Not worth the value. One occasion the plate had a eggy smell from it. Plate was replaced. No issue. (Plate was clean , just sometimes u can get that' smell coming off it , like when i wash the dishes after making egg) And I think some item portions good be a tad bigger. All in all a good eat. One to visit.

Top spot for some amazing authentic halal african cuisine, was really craving some spicy but original jerk chicken & jallof rice & this place absolutely nailed it! Will definitely be visiting again to try the other dishes, they accept card payments, parkings a little tricky but the service & food make it a worthwhile visit😊👌

The food was delicious! Starts Hummus and Bread and Fried Prawns hit the spot, followed along by the mains which was surprisingly tasty! Mojito was nice and sweet too! Good job to the staff as the service was good!

Full of flavours, like flavour bomb proper authentic african food with modern twist , excellent customer service, dry ice smoke took it to another level amazing atmostphere, dont give 5 stars but it was nearly there, will definately recommend jellof rice and goat curry must try, will visit again.

We arrived just after opening at 1pm. Lovely decor and ambience. Highly recommend attentive staff, delicious food especially the Cheeky chops so moist and delicious. We had Island fish and chips which was served with condiments.

I rarely review but this place is great. Food is fresh and tasty. I had the fish and chips. Great taste and crispy on outside. Also the tartar sauce was yum. You can tell everything made fresh. Nothing store bought. Wife had the burger meal. Was tasty. The decor is beautiful to sit and chill in. The service was 5 star. Waitor asked was polite and attentive. Highly recommend and will be going again insha Allah. Even the cola was so tasty. Lolll I ordered dessert and shared with the Mrs. We loved it. Oh and the chips were great. Crispy on outside and fluffy on inside with a nice house sauce on top. I am a tough person to please and very critical of food but this place was perfect. Will be trying the steak next time

Have to say brilliant service by Tash& other members, they all were friendly, kind & good with kids. Food was on point. I would recommend Everthing on the menu but the STEAK ON ME was perfect . Toilets nice and clean with nappy changing area . GO GO GO WHAT YOU WAITING FOR !!!

Do not waste your money going to this restaurant. The food is vile... Curry soup supposedly to be curry Mutton with coriander on it yuck!!! Spent almost £180 for three persons. The decor was awesome though.

The food was really good, don’t get me wrong. However, it wasn’t my kind of taste. Me and my friend visited Afrikana, as I had heard many good things about their food. The waiters were very friendly, the food arrived in pretty good time; just enough time to take pictures. The presentation was fantastic of the food, especially the dry ice for the perfect instagram picture! Even the complimentary hot wipe they offer at the end of the meal was an illustration of good service. A big shout out to Jay, who was fantastic!
