I love the ethiopian cuisine, and tried theyre sharer platter for 3 and was absolutely blown away by the flavours and amazing quality of their food!! Portions sizes are so good and food is top quality!!

Absolutely delicious mouthwatering dishes I’ve been going here since I was 8 years old and I am now 23 and it is still the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever tasted. Definitely would recommend.

This is my favourite Ethiopian restaurant outside of Ethiopia. We have been going annually for three years now and Kassim always makes us feel so welcome. All the wot is delicious, the tej is great and it's all really good value. Go for the Blue Nile special because there isn't a bad dish on it!

Gluten Free Heaven!! Coeliac friendly, very allergen aware. I’ve been coming here since I was a teenager. The owner is so friendly, patient and understanding of food allergies. The tastiest Ethiopian food we have ever found and we have tried many in other places. Highly recommend:)

I received the wrong order for a third time. Why not refuse the order if you dont have the meal. This is very unprofessional and expected from this resturant. I hope i don’t ever order anything from this place ever again.

Ok, so I had Ethiopian food for the first time in my life. It was definitely a very interesting experience as I love to know better different culture and nations through their food. As first- timers we had the mixed plate and I honestly loved most of it (I didn't like the pancake-like bread). We even had Ethiopian beer. The atmosphere was very, very nice and I can say that we had great time and I definitely recommend going to Blue Nile.

this restaurant completely ruined my experience. The food was bland and tasteless, and the service was terrible. The staff were rude and unhelpful. I would never go back to this place again, This restaurant is a complete disaster. The food is terrible, the service is even worse, and the atmosphere is non-existent. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this place at all costs. You'll be wasting your time and money

I was supposed to go to a different restaurant tonight, however I couldn't get in. I had someone in my party that is a vegan so I looked for a place to eat. My son has eaten at this restaurant around three time's and he said it was really good. I have never eaten East African food before. I have seen this restaurant for years but the outside does not look very appealing. However, you should not judge a book by the cover, inside was warm, well decorated and manned by amazing stuff. Kassim was very attentive from beginning to end. The service was fantastic. I was pleased from the moment we ordered teas and they were made from real plants. I was blown away. The food was fresh and tasty be aware that portion sizes are very good so try not to eat too many starters, we had a starter between us, good call. Took two boxes of food home. The rice/teff bread is an acquired taste but it is fermented, so good for the gut. I would come here again. I am grateful I tried the food just outstanding. 5🌟⭐✨✴️💫

My family and I (with a 6 month old, who was treated with ample kindness and warmth ♥️) came here on the trusted recommendation of a close friend of ours and I can tell you, without fear of contradiction, that this restaurant is the PERFECT choice for Ethiopian/Eritrean cuisine. The food was mouth-wateringly good (the flatbread is so delicate and light), the service was friendly, welcoming and communicative, and the atmosphere was suitably relaxed. We also took great pleasure being surrounded with an assortment of stunning artwork from Ethiopia/Eritrea which provided an extra dimension of discussion whilst eating. One of my personal favourite culinary experiences in all of Birmingham. Highly, highly recommended to all who would venture here - you will not be disappointed.

Amazing, amazing food!!! A lot of Ethiopians/ Eritreans were in the restaurant, so that tells you that the food is as good as a home cooked meal!!! Will definitely go again!

Myself a Malaysian Chinese experienced a marvellous dining moment arranged by one of my Ethiopian friends. Travelled from Hatfield to Blue Nile, made our trip with a great end. The platter was truly finger licking good yummy, full of different flavours mixing one another really a pleasure mouth satisfaction. Undoubtedly, the food was tip top so the services and atmosphere!!! After the platter was served, four of us finished the meal like in 15 mins, the ingredients and the meats were so so fresh and tenderness of the meat left me indulging. We ate most of the meal with hand for traditional cultures. Not only that, I ordered myself a deep fried whole tilapia fish. The crispiness was amazing, I literally finished the fish left just a bone as everything was edible including the fish head as well.

Really good food and hospitality.

This is a really nice family-run restaurant. We told the owner it was our first time eating Ethiopian food and he recommended a dish that more than met our needs and made us feel very welcome. The quality of the food was great, tasted amazing and was really well-prepared/cooked. I definitely will be returning soon. The portion sizes are really good too, we bought a portion that serves 3, but the 4 of us could not even finish it. I always appreciate when an owner tells us honestly about what we would be able to handle and whether we should order more, so overall an experience that makes me want to come back many more times in future.

A very nice friendly welcome and some great authentic Ethiopian food. The interior was really decorative and the atmosphere very relaxing. We ordered two specials between the six of us and some Ethiopian beers. Each of the small dishes of meat and vegetables was side by side on top of the bread. A lovely distinctive coffee pot was orders for two. Don’t ask for decaf ! 😀

My friend and I went here because neither of us had ever tried Ethiopian/Eritrean food before, and where we live were never likely to. In all honesty, I'd say it was more of an experience rather than a load of deliciousness, but the food was interesting, the service was absolutely delightful, and the coffee was, of course, out of this world.

It’s about the whole experience at this wonderful restaurant. Warm, welcoming, clean with exceptional food and traditional in style. We have been going to The Blue Nile for a number of years now and it never disappoints. Kassim is friendly and an excellent host. Always happy to recommend certain dishes to try, give you the history and enlighten your knowledge about Ethiopia, customs, food and drink. Only the best quality ingredients are used and all freshly cooked and delicately flavored to your taste, an absolute delight and very different. The atmosphere is authentic, friendly and a whole new experience. The coffee ceremony is not to be missed!

Honestly fantastic food, was apprehensive having never tried similar cuisine simply asked the waiter for a veriety of things to try and he provided. I would reccomend the Nile platter as it was a great entry into a new food. The tej “honey wine” was also fantastic I couldn’t reccomend more. Thank you for having us.

Excellent food, vegan friendly and able to take a large group with no fuss.

This is the perfect place to taste authentic Ethiopian/Eritrean food. The food was delicious with the right blend of spices and flavour. The wooden decorations mixed with the typical Eritrean and Ethiopian music was fully immersing me into their culture. I want to take particular consideration to the staff members, who made me feel welcomed and comfortable all the time offering me an excellent service. To conclude, their authentic coffee is a must try, which is served beautifully in their so called “jebena”. Also, don’t get tricked from the outside: even though it doesn’t attract you, just be sure that the inside and the food is amazing. Overall, I highly recommend this place especially if you never tried the Ethiopian Eritrean food.

Amazing food, great service, outstanding value. If you have never tried Ethiopian food you have to stop here. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. Portions are so generous we took loads home, even with a sharing plate for 2 between 3!

Nice manager, very attentive to you. Food was delicious (Ethiopian cuisine is my favourite) - the portion was really good as was the price. I tried Ethiopian coffee for the first time today (ceremony), the price was actually very good and it was a lovely experience for the family.

You have successfully captured the ambiance of the establishment; however, subsequent experiences were less than satisfactory. The premises were adequately cleaned, including the bathroom. The culinary offering, while deemed passable for its price point and location, fell short of embodying true Ethiopian cuisine. The fusion was characterized as suboptimal at best and lacked authenticity. It is suggested that measures be taken to refrain from misrepresenting the traditional flavors and techniques of Ethiopian cuisine. While elements of authenticity were observed, the overall execution suggested that corners were being cut in the preparation of the dishes.

The food here was delicious! I went with my dad and we had the vegan meal for two. It was beautiful and tasted delicious and a very generous portion. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was very nice and authentic. I will definitely come back soon! Great value and delicious food.

We came here over Christmas to try something different and we got what we wanted. Very authentic Ethiopian/Eritrean food in an authentic atmosphere. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. Thoroughly recommended. Especially to anyone who has not tried this cuisine before.

Had never tried Ethiopian/Eritrean food before and this was amazing. The hospitality of the restaurant owners was so heart warming. They greeted us with smile ever since we walked in. It's a family run business I am told and the owner Kassim is a lovely gentleman who goes out of the way to make your time at his place special. We ordered for Ethiopian beers Asmara and Habesha which tasted rather good. For starters it was vegetarian samosas and fresh salad to go with it. We order or injera bread which was soft as butter, fermented for four days and a little salty but perfect. Tastes so much like the South Indian dosa. We had that with telapia fish curry cooked with green peppers while my husband had a lovely chicken curry served with steaming hot rice and salad. The spicy curry was just perfect and carried a homemade touch. To owner even served us extra two extra injira bread which was huge in size and we could not finish so got home packed up! To end it all we opted for the Ethiopian offer ceremony, traditional and homely. The coffee beans were toasted for us, served in Ethiopian cups and a beautiful coffee pot. It's a bit bitter but so very aromatic! We dunked it in with sugar and popcorns. Not to miss is an aromatic incense which comes with the pot and paraphernalia. It was my husband's 52nd birthday and we came home so full and content! Would definitely like to go there again. This place is special and it's the people who make it that way. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful, it was a Monday and quiet and we were treated like family! Would definitely like to come back again. Definitely recommending it to friends! For me, the outdated decor is what gives this place, its charm. The food and service were nigh on perfect. I highly recommend the vegan platter, despite me not being vegan. You must also try the traditional coffee. 10/10 all round!!!

Having been born and brought up in Ethiopia, this is my go-to place for authentic cuisine, along with family members and friends. The food is excellent, the owners greet us with typical Ethiopian courtesy and warmth. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, you need to visit. It also caters for gluten intolerance and vegetarians. Highly recommended.

Wow. This was the first time I’d tried Ethiopian food and it was fantastic. I tried the lamb tibs, rice, brown lentils and injera. All the food tasted fresh, was beautifully spiced and great portion size. Will definitely be ordering again
