The staff were very friendly and it was a pleasant atmosphere. The coffee was great! They were having a family party and shared the birthday cake around all the customers, which I thought was lovely. Would definitely go again!

After getting fed up queuing for ages in the Bull Ring centre for a coffee, we went for a short walk and found this wonderful family run coffee house, with great staff, selection of drinks and food at fair prices and a lovely atmosphere. The owners need support due to the roadworks that has reduced their trade and is threatening to close it down. Despite the roadworks, you can still easily get to this place which is pretty much round the corner from the Bull Ring. I would highly recommend this coffee house which is so much nicer than the big chains!

My husband and I visited Karibu Coffee House last week for coffee after reading about them in a newsletter from Independent Birmingham. It's an independent, family run café which has managed to survive the lockdowns but I'm sure it's been tough. We were so impressed with our coffee (and doughnut!), the ambience and the friendly hostess that we promised to return for lunch when we had more time. We went today, and the food was better than our high expectations. It looked awesome, and tasted better. All freshly cooked with great attention to detail (including lovely tangy sauces). There's a range of things on the menu including all day breakfasts, sandwiches and lunches, with an African twist (the family is from Tanzania we were told). There's plenty of choice to suit those who want to try something new, and for those who want something familiar. Good for vegetarians like us, but there are chicken dishes too. The prices are extremely good for the quality of the food. They offer a discount if you have the Independent Birmingham App, which makes them even better value. The café itself was clean, covid-safe, comfortable and appealing to sit in. There are a couple of outside tables. The staff are lovely. It's a little off the beaten track if you're shopping in Birmingham, but it's only about 5 minutes walk down towards Digbeth from the Bullring. Well worth the extra minutes to find food as good as this from an independent business. We will be back!

While heading to some of the great pubs to be found in the Digbeth area my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into Karibu Coffee House and what a great find. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we were allocated a table were we ordered a coffee each, coffee was really good, served steaming hot ,we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great cafe we were in. From the first sip till the last sup you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve, it was just so good being in such a lovely cafe planning out the day ahead while sipping our delicious coffee's. We really enjoyed our coffee's in here before we moved on and for a first time visit to here we had a great time. Karibu Coffee House is easy to locate along Digbeth . Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, 8am till 4.30pm. Saturday, 9.30am till 6.30pm. A great cafe, well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Check us on Insta 😁 - 🥔 Karibu, Digbeth - We were kindly invited to try the food and drink over at @karibucoffeehouse . You can find Karibu next to @southandcitycollege in Digbeth. From the front Karibu looks clean and modern but a little inconspicuous, don’t let that put you off @karibucoffeehouse is a very open, loving and warm place to get some amazing Tanzanian food, from breakfast through to dinner and everything inbetween 😍 - The decor is fresh and warm with plenty of seating and space. You could easily enjoy a catch-up with friends and family or have some time to yourself to get some work done using the free wi-fi and charging ports. There is also a section where you can purchase authentic African products made by the Maasai tribe women. - This is a family run Tanzanian café that produces authentic Tanzanian food and drink. We had three recommend dishes that were fabulous. Dish 1 was the Lamb Samosa Chaat, £5.50 Dish 2 was the Muhogo with Kachumbari and Salsa, £5.80 Dish 3 was the Omelette and Chips (Zege), £5.50 - I highly recommend all these dishes especially the Muhogo which is made with Cassava, an African root veg 😍 All the food is either Halal, Vegan or vegetarian. So there is something for everyone. - So get yourself to one of the must underrated cafés in Birmingham. 😍 . . . . #karibu #African #tanzania #brumfood #ad #digbeth #southandcity #halal #halalfood #halalbirmingham #Birmingham #lovebirmingham #lovebrum #lovefood #foodporn #drinks #drinkporn #foodies #foodiesofbrum #whattoeat #eatout #foodlover #vegan #vegetarian #glutanfree #foodstagram #goodfood #instagood #instafood #foodblogger

Meandering around Digbeth after an overdue catch up with my friend of 49 yrs (!) we were ready for a hot drink, when we stumbled upon Karibu. I’m a fussy bunny when it comes to food outlets. It’s frontage was attractive and inviting. Those already inside looked like they were enjoying their purchases and each other’s company. It was like peering into someone’s living room during a family gathering; cosy. I like my coffee strong with flavour- tick! My friend likes her drink to remain hot once milk is added - tick!...and the chocolate orange cake? Oh my, you’ll have to go there and try it! The staff were genuinely friendly and in fact we felt so comfortable, we were still there 20 minutes after they closed. This establishment deserve to do well. I intend to return soon for a meal.

I don’t usually write review but I saw this place and wanted a coffee from an independent coffee place. I was surprised how good my coffee was. I ordered an almond milk flat white and it was one of the best I’ve had. Sometimes coffee shops make the coffee a bit sour but this wasn’t at all. A good choice for people who are particular about their coffee.

Loved how welcome we felt after walking in. Went straight to the counter and was met with smiles and an education on the food we wanted to order. The clientele are very eclectic too. We are big fans of the decor and the whole place has an authentic feel. I am telling all my friends about this place because they’re too good not to be a mainstay in Digbeth! We are big supporters of family run, local businesses. It usually means the products are made with love and this was no exception. Tasty food at a reasonable price (we tried two things from the African menu). And I tried a cool looking milkshake. My partner (an avid coffee fan) said Karibu made her the best latte she’d ever had. So smooth! One of the owners explained he was from Tanzania and that he gets specially imported Kenyan coffee beans that you can only get there. Whatever the secret is, we will be back. They have also promised more hot food going forward. I hope it’s a breakfast/brunch type menu but either way whatever it is we will be there to try it. Bear in mind I’m not a pro photographer. But visit and I am certain you will leave with a smile on your face.
