We visited yesterday on our way back into the city centre from visiting an event, although mid morning on a Saturday there appeared a good flow of customers. Situated outside the city centre and close to the coach station makes this an ideal stop off between the two Outside seating area for those patrons who are smokers, deceptively spacious interior. The youngman serving was doing a relatively good job of keeping up with dine-in and take away orders as well as clearing tables. He took our order and told us to grab a seat and he brought our order over when ready. The coffee and hot chocolate were a standard affair, the biscoff cheesecake delicious. Three prong plug and usb charging ports under all the bench seats make this an idea place to sit and study or catch-up with some out of office work.

The interior is nice. Came here for a cappuccino but it wasn't made properly. There wasn't any coffee taste and it was nearly boiling temperature. Quite pricey as well. Waste of money sadly.

The taste and presentation of their food makes us reminisce the holidays our family has spent in my fathers home country of Tanzania. I have been meaning to go to Karibu for some time and now that I have been, I will definitely return! Having spent a portion of my childhood in Tanzania, I wanted to try some food that would remind me of that time and Karibu certainly delivered. My husband and I decided to split the Swahili kebabs, Karibu masala chips, and bongo wings. We got a couple of mandazi to take away, as well as some baobab sweets. All the food was delicious and reminded me of my childhood. The only downside was that the chicken wings weren't ready until we had finished the kebabs and chips (and had taken our time to do so), even though we had been told they would only be a couple of minutes. Still, the food was lovely and the staff were friendly as well.

Excellent place for a quite, clean, and halal breakfast. Unlike other breakfast places, Karibu Coffee House has the great experience in terms of nicely decorated (African theme), halal food (for those who only eat delicious halal food), and cleanliness (cooking is done in an isolated kitchen, so no bad smell). Also, the floor, tables, and cutlery are clean.

After getting fed up queuing for ages in the Bull Ring centre for a coffee, we went for a short walk and found this wonderful family run coffee house, with great staff, selection of drinks and food at fair prices and a lovely atmosphere. The owners need support due to the roadworks that has reduced their trade and is threatening to close it down. Despite the roadworks, you can still easily get to this place which is pretty much round the corner from the Bull Ring. I would highly recommend this coffee house which is so much nicer than the big chains!

Finding out that the interior of Karibu Coffee House was updated only 3 years ago. Given the pace at which change has on interior design. Karibu looks fresh, I would argue cool. I love the mix of modern lighting elements mixed with Tanzanian art works. If you do visit, please speak with the owner. His family lived in Tanzania for 3 generations. He is a book of knowledge wrt African and what Brunmies term “Indian Food”. I opted for 2 dishes: the rolex (Chapati Roll) and the Mbaazi Mandazi, an African style stew. The former was a taste sensation, very much like a wrap. A side note. Their coffee is Tanzanian. Karibu Coffee House is a comfortable, relaxed environment. The staff are warm and helpful. It’s their African dishes and coffee that set them apart.

It's a nice place but location seems a little "off". Nice seating area out front but it's right onto a busy city centre road opposite the market. It's clean and spacious inside (hand sanitizer etc at the front) with energetic music. It would be good for friends catching up, definitely not for sitting on your laptop doing work, but this ain't Starbucks. Good stop off if you're headed to the coach station. Bit of a gripe about my server answering her mobile while processing my order, but she was nice enough overall. Tropical smoothie was tasty and served in a huge glass so, plenty for your money!

My husband and I visited Karibu Coffee House last week for coffee after reading about them in a newsletter from Independent Birmingham. It's an independent, family run café which has managed to survive the lockdowns but I'm sure it's been tough. We were so impressed with our coffee (and doughnut!), the ambience and the friendly hostess that we promised to return for lunch when we had more time. We went today, and the food was better than our high expectations. It looked awesome, and tasted better. All freshly cooked with great attention to detail (including lovely tangy sauces). There's a range of things on the menu including all day breakfasts, sandwiches and lunches, with an African twist (the family is from Tanzania we were told). There's plenty of choice to suit those who want to try something new, and for those who want something familiar. Good for vegetarians like us, but there are chicken dishes too. The prices are extremely good for the quality of the food. They offer a discount if you have the Independent Birmingham App, which makes them even better value. The café itself was clean, covid-safe, comfortable and appealing to sit in. There are a couple of outside tables. The staff are lovely. It's a little off the beaten track if you're shopping in Birmingham, but it's only about 5 minutes walk down towards Digbeth from the Bullring. Well worth the extra minutes to find food as good as this from an independent business. We will be back!

While heading to some of the great pubs to be found in the Digbeth area my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into Karibu Coffee House and what a great find. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we were allocated a table were we ordered a coffee each, coffee was really good, served steaming hot ,we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great cafe we were in. From the first sip till the last sup you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve, it was just so good being in such a lovely cafe planning out the day ahead while sipping our delicious coffee's. We really enjoyed our coffee's in here before we moved on and for a first time visit to here we had a great time. Karibu Coffee House is easy to locate along Digbeth . Check us on Insta 😁 - 🥔 Karibu, Digbeth - We were kindly invited to try the food and drink over at @karibucoffeehouse . You can find Karibu next to @southandcitycollege in Digbeth. From the front Karibu looks clean and modern but a little inconspicuous, don’t let that put you off @karibucoffeehouse is a very open, loving and warm place to get some amazing Tanzanian food, from breakfast through to dinner and everything inbetween 😍 - The decor is fresh and warm with plenty of seating and space. You could easily enjoy a catch-up with friends and family or have some time to yourself to get some work done using the free wi-fi and charging ports. There is also a section where you can purchase authentic African products made by the Maasai tribe women. - This is a family run Tanzanian café that produces authentic Tanzanian food and drink. We had three recommend dishes that were fabulous. Dish 1 was the Lamb Samosa Chaat, £5.50 Dish 2 was the Muhogo with Kachumbari and Salsa, £5.80 Dish 3 was the Omelette and Chips (Zege), £5.50 - I highly recommend all these dishes especially the Muhogo which is made with Cassava, an African root veg 😍 All the food is either Halal, Vegan or vegetarian. So there is something for everyone. - So get yourself to one of the must underrated cafés in Birmingham. 😍 . . . . #karibu #African #tanzania #brumfood #ad #digbeth #southandcity #halal #halalfood #halalbirmingham #Birmingham #lovebirmingham #lovebrum #lovefood #foodporn #drinks #drinkporn #foodies #foodiesofbrum #whattoeat #eatout #foodlover #vegan #vegetarian #glutanfree #foodstagram #goodfood #instagood #instafood #foodblogger

Meandering around Digbeth after an overdue catch up with my friend of 49 yrs (!) we were ready for a hot drink, when we stumbled upon Karibu. I’m a fussy bunny when it comes to food outlets. It’s frontage was attractive and inviting. Those already inside looked like they were enjoying their purchases and each other’s company. It was like peering into someone’s living room during a family gathering; cosy. I like my coffee strong with flavour- tick! My friend likes her drink to remain hot once milk is added - tick!...and the chocolate orange cake? Oh my, you’ll have to go there and try it! The staff were genuinely friendly and in fact we felt so comfortable, we were still there 20 minutes after they closed. This establishment deserve to do well. I intend to return soon for a meal.

Digbeth High St is very slowly coming on the up. This cafe, only just opened, is a sign of this. Pleasant, bright, cosy refuge on a bright but chill winter's afternoon. Nearly empty when I was there but it certainly deserves that business should pick up as it becomes better known. Karin is marketed as African, with a Zanzibar theme to its decor, and Zsnzibar coffee, reflecting where the owners come from. Actually rather more Indian, reflecting their heritage, with lamb samosas that are really very nice indeed and a wide selection of spiced chais. More usual Brummie pastries too, again very nicely done. Am pleased to recommend that you give it a try.

Loved how welcome we felt after walking in. Went straight to the counter and was met with smiles and an education on the food we wanted to order. The clientele are very eclectic too. We are big fans of the decor and the whole place has an authentic feel. I am telling all my friends about this place because they’re too good not to be a mainstay in Digbeth! We are big supporters of family run, local businesses. It usually means the products are made with love and this was no exception. Tasty food at a reasonable price (we tried two things from the African menu). And I tried a cool looking milkshake. My partner (an avid coffee fan) said Karibu made her the best latte she’d ever had. So smooth! One of the owners explained he was from Tanzania and that he gets specially imported Kenyan coffee beans that you can only get there. Whatever the secret is, we will be back. They have also promised more hot food going forward. I hope it’s a breakfast/brunch type menu but either way whatever it is we will be there to try it. Bear in mind I’m not a pro photographer. But visit and I am certain you will leave with a smile on your face.

Great! I visited here by complete chance as it was en route to where I was going. The waitress was polite and friendly, and was only too happy to make a recommendation when I asked to try a typical African coffee. I tried the house special 'Kahawa' coffee and loved it! It comes in an espresso sized come with a medijool date to accompany. The coffee is served black, and my initial thought was that it may be like Turkish coffee strength wise. Absolutely not! A very pleasent and quite mellow coffee with what I perceived to be a slight nutmeg taste...? For £2, I would definitely drink it again, and another visit, even try some food. The café itself has a relaxed and friendly vibe. I'll be back!

This place is a joke honestly countless times they just take the mick. Went for the half price roast dinner yes of course it was a discount but doesn’t mean you take the piss, one tiny quarter leg of chicken, 3 green beans, 3 carrots, 2 roast potatoes, 1 stuffing ball, a measly portion of mac and cheese it looked nothing like it did on instagram and TikTok! Yes I wasn’t expecting the exact same I’m not stupid but it was so stingy! And if you’re wondering why I didn’t complain it’s because it took over an hour to get two chicken roast dinners, and the table next to us who came later (party of 3) had their roast dinners before us. They either forgot or just thought they’ll take the piss with two girls. So at this point I was too hungry and just wanted to eat, luckily I didn’t have to pay full price for that it was a joke. Why do a promotion when you can’t meet demand or give some dead portions? You can see from the video the plate looks empty, like it’s a chicken place and the chicken piece I got was soo tiny at least give more chicken for a roast dinner wtf. Absolutely pathetic. And no updates given on wait time staff just ignore you, employ more kitchen staff very very disappointed I bet they won’t even take this review seriously.

I ordered from here off uber eats, I wouldn't again as they sent me burnt rice stuck to the tray and 3 pieces or beef. Spent quite a bit for that meal just for it to go in the bin as the shop was closed when my order arrived a hour late.
