This is the second time coming to heat restaurant. First time I was more angry than a mad man but this second time. Met load of renovations and upgrade. This is classical, best meal... platter at its best... chef has a 5star. I'm sure he got a ph.D in barbecue. Fantastically spontaneous meal... Great meal 😋

Just been refurbished - looks far brighter inside than the outside signage suggests. Had Puff Puff and beans, which was really good (basically sliced banana + Kidney beans). Also a Magnum drink - somewhere between an energy drink and vodka & coke. Barman and waiter were friendly and was a great atmosphere. Some photos attached... to share their Good vibes. 😉

Returned to a newly revamped Heat restaurant. It is more relaxed and serves up a nice selection on the food menu. I've tried the wings, rice, fries and puff puffs. All of the food was to a high standard and tasted great. Nice light afro tunes in the background. If you're looking for a chilled evening with a few drinks and some food, this is the spot to try.

I just ordered food from this restaurant on deliveroo, I paid £35.59 for everything you’re seeing here. I’ve never been to a Nigerian restaurant, that you had to order rice and meat separate. The jollof rice alone , cost £7.80, that cost would’ve given me a huge hunk of meat or chicken from all the other restaurants I’ve been to, that includes restaurants in Bournemouth, Luton even London. To the point I thought it was standard practice….until today. You might be wondering “you saw jollof rice on the page, why would you assume it would come with meat?”, and for this I’ll say refer back to my previous statement. Now, take a moment the guess the price of the soup you’re seeing…..whatever you guessed you’re wrong. The soup alone cost—£21.10 the pounded yam—£5.20 And it wasn’t even freshly pounded yam, it’s the stuff you can buy from supermarkets. It was my Nigerian friend that ordered this for us to eat for lunch, in the hopes it would last a long time at her house(the soup I mean). Nope, this is what she got. It really makes you wonder, what exactly is giving this food such an exorbitant price?. i added the price here so you guys can be the judge of it, does this make sense to you?

Avoid ordering online from this restaurant. From the other reviews, their in store orders might be good but the online I did was a mess. Very burnt suya with 90% fats. I had to thrash it. Thankfully I wanted to try them first before telling my African friends about it. So yeah, I would only them not to visit. I wish I could score them a minus, it was that bad.

Don't go to this restaurant...Service is just awful.... beyond terrible... The wait for the food was an excruciating 1 hour and 30 minutes, only to receive the wrong order, and only half of the order. The portion size was ridiculously small...I guess they forgot it supposed to be an African restaurant.... The staff was practically non-existent, offering no feedback or updates on the food delay....It's ridiculous that such a simple dish like jollof rice take forever to be served. To top it off, the waiter didn't even bother to welcome us or provide a menu until we had to chase him down and practically beg for it... Also the place is super dark and the music unbearably loud and the dj sucks... Sadly places like this reinforces the cliché that African people can't run a business....

I once gave this restaurant a 5 star last year but the quality has gone down tremendously. There is a big difference between the food you get in the restaurant and when you order online. I ordered fish stew , paid almost 20 pounds and I received chicken stew containing 1 drum stick. One. I called them to query, the person was very combative and rude. Blamed me for not answering my phone when they called me to tell me they did not have cat fish. I then asked them why they just didn’t cancel the order, they hung up on me. For 20 pounds I can buy a whole chicken and stew it myself. They at least could have put a sizeable amount of chicken. Gave this place one last chance and went there for lunch. The girl serving us was chewing puff puff whilst taking orders. Half of the staff on the menu was not available in the kitchen. Took almost 30 mins to manage to order something between her going back and forth in the kitchen to check what was available. Learn something from you neighbours “Red star” yes their service sucks but their food is great!

Ordered as a takeaway on Uber Eats. The food came and I was excited by the smell of the food ... but oh my the disappointment that followed was unbelievable!!! The plaintain was a soggy mess and was drenched in cooking fat. The egusi soup was bitter and felt like I was eating egusi mixed with sand ... that tells me the meat was not washed properly. For the side dish, I chose ugali and what arrived was an inedible yellow mush with a grainy texture. The egusi soup was over salted. The jollof rice was oily and was made with a short grain rice. Overall a terrible meal, a terrible experience and extremely over-priced! If you are looking for authentic African cuisine, look somewhere else as you will not find it here.

What a disappointment is an under statement. This is not authentic African food. After ordering our food it took over an hour to arrive. This was before it all took off in the kitchen! Half the starters arrived with half the mains which were all plated incorrectly. The rest of the starters and remaining mains eventually arrived. One of the starters didn't look anything like the menu described, was dry and not seasoned. The mixed grill was again not as described and only came with three lamb chops. When we ordered cocktails we were told by the barman that he didn't know how to make the drinks but he would try his best. He took 20min to make one cocktail which was made with the wrong alcohol. By this stage we canceled all the other orders and asked for the bill. This again was an experience in itself. He was adding up the bill on a piece of paper, the total was incorrect and we had to add it up ourselves before we could leave! This place was like a really really bad Fawlty towers. Don't go here to eat or drink but maybe visit for a bad experience. Avoid!

If you are looking for a great African "club" to sit and vibe to music then this is your place. But if you are looking for great customer service- amazing food, CLEAN DISHES avoid avoid. This is not a restaurant !! 3/4 Of the menu is not available on request. This includes drinks. We ordered a round of the house champagne £4.99 a glass we were charged incorrectly as Prosecco £7.99 . When I tried to contest this I was informed by the waiter that as he has an Engineering degree his maths calculations where accurate and mine where not. He also rounded up each item to the nearest pound so if you ordered an item for 3:50 he would round up to £4. 2 members of our group paid their bills at the bar before they left However we were still made to pay for 1 of those orders as the waiters had neglected to update their less than efficient system...(A small piece of paper with extremely small ineligible hand writing on it) The champagne glasses where dirty with lipstick stains. The glasses are black and white so you could clearly see pink and red lipstick on them. the waiter looked annoyed when I pointed this out and said that their dishwasher was not working proper...Infection control??? we were being served on dishes not washed or disinfected. My friend ordered the mixed grill we waited 2 hours only for her to be told her order had not been sent to the kitchen and that they didn't have all the items for it in the restaurant .Mind you we arrived at 7pm and were one of the first few customers there. I ordered Pounded yam - found HAIR in this and could not finish my food. One of the bouncers arrived early and was loudly watching the football match - screaming and shouting extremely loud over the music. After the match finished he then put on his jacket and started work .... After this as we were leaving the owner asked what had happened as we were clearly not happy. I then started explaining my grievances and righty fully so I was annoyed and frustrated - He repeatedly interrupted me attempted to Gaslight me stating other people had had nice experiences at his restaurant mine was a fluke.... He then proceeded to question me about the hair I found - what colour it was and also what length it was I took the time to explain to him how customer service works and how as a business he needs to listen to his customers and let them finish before interrupting them . This clearly annoyed him . At this point we entered into a shouting match outside of the establishment where he then said "if this was a white business she would not be doing this" I took the time to remind him that a White owned business they would take customer service seriously and would attempt to resolve any concerns its customers would have and that yes I would always emphatically defend my rights as a consumer. In conclusion AVOID.

Really upset about experience. Went in and had high hopes, when we were ordering many items weren't on the menu and when the waitress said she'd check if our dishes were available, it took twenty minutes to for her to come back. It wasn't busy. When she did come back we didn't get another look at the menu and the food that did turn up was bland. Some of us were charged for large meals even though we ordered and received small meals and when there wasn't enough cutlery it was suggested we share. When it came to paying they were very insistent that we didn't split the bill to make it easier for them and then £10 was added to the bill mistakenly, though this was refunded when we went back.

My roommate and I have been dealing with a maggot infestation for a week. Compared to our experience with this establishment, the infestation is a walk in the park. The service (insofar as it can he described as service) was unique in its capacity to demand that we cater to them. We had to have the meals they chose for us. We had to pay through the methods they chose for us. They gave us the portions they chose for us (contrary to out orders). In addition, they charged us an extra £10 and, upon being pressed on this, they claimed they accidentally added another meal. The meal in question was £11. We can thereby infer that their excuse was a thinly veiled scheme to deceive us. I can confidently claim that I have never been more let down by a restaurant in my life.

Couldn’t eat it 🤮 The egusi was okay, not as nice as it usually is when dining in and the Kilishi was nice (extremely small portion but that’s just how Kilishi is served so that was to be expected I guess) It appears the food is better when you actually eat in the restaurant but in terms of actual delivery? The prices are extremely ridiculous. I could not believe it. Suya very tasteless no spice at all maybe just a little salt. Egusi with assorted meat came with 3 very tiny pieces of meat for 12.99 not including the side. So for an extra 3.99 you get pounded yam or whatever side. The egusi was chunky, guess I was meant to pretend the huge chunks were pieces of meat. Jollof rice just okay but again extremely over priced. I think for the prices the sides should at least be included. Oh I forgot how I got gizzard that was fried extremely dry and just dropped in tomato sauce, not even tossed in properly, literally just dropped in. I nearly cried because that much money for what? Can’t even include a piece of chicken in the rice package? Have to buy every single thing to make up a meal. Very unfair and daylight robbery actually. The prices should be illegal.

Bravo! To the owners. I just discovered this restaurant when a friend mentioned it to me. So I decided to check it out. It was like 805/ Mama Calabar / local Buka food coming to Oxford on demand. However it was a lot better than those. The food was 110%. Jollof, mixed beef stew. Best pounded yam ever. Egusi/ plantain. Puff puff was on point. Needless to say my family was very happy to dig in when I got home. The vibe in there was very charming with tasteful African Artifacts. You sort of get drawn in an Dont feel like leaving. Best staff ever. Very chilled but polite and make you feel like nothing is too much to ask. Coming from a design Architectural Construction background I could tell that the owner had spared no expense on the decor. The quality was top notch. The timber on bar. Was just as good if not better than what you would find in Camden Arms I worked on many moons ago. And also behind the bar display. Someone said something about the lighting but personally I love the mood in there . I shall be telling all my friends and family about this special find and also sharing on Instagram . The actual dish without the meat 🍖 was great. With the meat my teeth simply began aching as I walked out of the door ended up at the chemist buying chlorhexidine. My teeth for a number of days simply suffered. I have never had egusi soup like it. I have never gone there since. I noted a couple refused to order meat upon their second visit saying they had meat before.

Don't waste your money. Food is tasteless and overpriced. Ordered Eforiro which ended up being spoilt, Egusi and Okro soup was not fresh, jollof rice was tasteless, suya and kilishi overpriced. Peppersoup tasted more like beef broth. Don't waste your money.

Wonderful tasty food but the "mixed meat" (all beef) was a bit of a challenge as it was on the tough side.

Service was friendly but slow, food was ok, conversation was difficult because the music was too loud, started turning into a nightclub before we'd finished our meal

Amazing food, surprisingly cheap and the staff were super kind. The plantain is fantastic and I think puff puff is a new favourite!

The food wasn’t nice at all and it was under seasoned. The jellof wasn’t spicy at all and it was poor.

A weird but fun evening was enjoyed by myself and a couple of friends. Great atmosphere and the food was certainly different, interesting and spicy hot. The service, although very friendly, was slapdash with dishes arriving at random times and some not coming at all....

Really great customer service. Cocktails were top notch and not expensive. Taste great! We stayed way longer than we thought we would just because of how much we were enjoying our time. Music on, great atmosphere 👌

What a lovely experience. The customer service is wonderful. Really had a great time with my friends. The food was sumptuous and the drink was nice. They also have stores you can get most African food. With great scenery to take nice shots

Wow!!!! Wow!!!!! Wow!!!!!!! I never imagined I can eat Nigerian food so delicious and spicy in Oxford. I just thought to give it a trial without even reading reviews and I am so wowed. Apart from the fact that the food is so delicious and spicy just the way I love it, it has a the original African taste. The jollof rice, the fried rice, the extra salad, the beef stew and the packaging, oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!, it was excellent. And the staff are all very nice. Please sir, I will call you for some tutelage as I'm also planning to start something like this in my own town too cos no African restaurant there at all. Thank you so much ,I really enjoyed the meal. More blessings on your business.

Tried the jungle jerk grilled chicken and it was insanely delicious. The plate included a nice hot sauce, salsa and some nicely cooked fried plantain. Just fire. If you like spicy, this is the place. Staff was really nice and we transferred to the outside and proceeded to smoke the best shisha in Cowley. Can't ask for more. Good vibes all around. Try the blue moon pint with a slice of orange if you like ale. Best wishes to HEAT. great place

Small portions, expensive for what you get and although made by Ethiopian's, it's a western slant on the food. Bit disappointed.
