Shishawi in City of London, Westminster

The staff are friendly. Everything is average. Wouldnt recommend for tourists unless you are our of option. The restaurant is very noisy the volume of the TV’s are high and they are bothering.

The place is excellent and the food is very good. I hope you will visit. The shishawi, the lamb bananas, wow, and the amazing kabsat and grills. They serve the dishes with love, with the servers being wonderful. Thank you, wonderful.

Use to be a good place for food and Shisha but now Proper ripped off, I paid for food service charges but service was awful and food wasn't good not worthy going back again, I'm disappointed with Shishawi !!!

Lest 14 years in live in UAE and now I am in UK so I visit this place and eating shawarma and falafil this is very good if you to Arabic food and place plz visit there and enjoy your food in door outdoor with shisha and shawarma 🥙

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because he takes Cash only , no payment cards which is frustrating somehow, rather than this it's amazing place, prices are good and suitable for most of the people I believe so.

They charged my card $175 for a shawarma and a coke . Do not go here the people are rude and they run your card for way more than the actual cost of the bill

Worst food and worst service first and last time to visit

Decent place to sit down and smoke. And have decent food. Prices are reasonable. Open late hours on weekends. Shisha Is average flavours are Hit and miss. Recommend to go on friday or saturday when there is a good vibe. They have heaters, so if it is cold you can chill and not be worried.

They made me pay first (I could buy and sell there family), food was disgusting, service was disgusting. They are Iranian and not Egyptian either.

Nothing in that restaurant tase fresh they say its Egyptian food but nothing in there half-term e any thing to do with Egyp very despondent never going back there again I feel really sick to be fare

I don't know how this place still open with all there scamming ways with customers bill, Some of the staff are good, and some are scammers. 5 people, no chips, no rice each drinking one coke, 5 small bass, couple of king prawns, salad humus and 2 small sides, they thought we where drunk, bill was £286. This wasn't the first time they tried it. And the hygiene is something else.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs.It is cash only which implies they don't pay any tax. We asked for a mixed grill,which was mainly French fries and chicken donner .You couldn't bite the lamb chops which was uncooked and hard to bite.We couldn't sleep all night because of this rubbish. Service charge is mandatory which makes it unlawful.If you feel hungry,it would better to eat takeaway than coming to this place where the staff think we are all idiots like themselves

One of the worst experiences I had in London/Edgware Road, definitely won’t be back.

The food is reasonable but lack of custom service.

The food in general was good! I visited the place a few times and most of the time the service is good. However, when we visited last weekend, my experience was negative. (1) They told us about a "new" minimum order policy of 20£ when we were going to pay the bill. (We've been to the place many times before and they never asked for it.). It would have been acceptable if they told us when we were ordering or when seating. But doing it this way is not cool. (2) We asked to order more food so we could pass the 20£ per person but the server insisted that we pay first (at least 20£ per person even if they didn't order anything), and then order food again. Which is clearly unacceptable and illegal. We pushed back on that. (3) When paying, the bill was 132£, we did the math as it was 135£ and then rounded it up from 22.5 to 23£ per person. Basically taking a 6£ tip in addition to the service charge despite they tried to force us to pay extra before. I am sure this behaviour doesn't represent most of the people who work there (We had some really positive experiences eating there before). I am sharing my experience so you're aware about what to expect. Make sure to ask about any minimum order when eating there. Also make sure you read your bill carefully and do the math yourself. If something seems wrong do push back.

Very rude staff with poor quality. I complained about the food quality and they showed little regard to my concern. Staff was very unhelpful being arrogant and rude.

I have always come to visit this restaurant for many years whenever I am in London. My experience at this restaurant has always been good, but yesterday was outstanding. I was very pleased with everything. The restaurant staff treated me exceptionally well and ensured that I was comfortable and happy which I really appreciated. I got the lamb biryani - it is something I always order here as the lamb is tender, and falls apart easily and the rice is fluffy and moist. I highly recommend this dish, especially if you're south Asian like me. The music and vibe was relaxed and chill, Amr Diab is my favourite singer so that was perfect. You will love taking pictures here as the interior is stunning. I recommend trying this restaurant to everyone, you will not regret your choice - they make everyone feel welcome.

Misserable and unwelcoming staff, restaurant is cold and dirty. Manageress has poor hygiene practice herself, uses same gloves to serve food, tune radio and tidy up. When complaint raised to manageress about their attitude you just get humoured back.

The food there is good but not so great

Food wasn’t great and there was a cockroach on the table! We pointed it out to the waiter he didn’t even apologise just got a cloth removed the cockroach like it was a normal situation! and didn’t bother to clean the table! We had to ask for the table to be cleaned! No card payment! Cash only! Avoid this place. I was shocked when no discount was offered or even an apology

Disgusting place. Very dirty - no hygiene whatsoever - The Toilets bathrooms were flooded and hadn't been cleaned in a very long time and you can’t even stand for seconds water is everywhere on floors, smells are so disgusting. I would avoid this place at all cost. This place needs to be renovation.

The food, price and decoration are amazing if you want to live the Middle East atmosphere I really recommend it

This is a place to avoid for health reasons. Most of the food especially salads, dios and tomatoes tasted off, left uneaten, staff told and no response. Was virtually empty during busy Xmas markets time. Decor so dated and staff not very professional. They only accept cash a notice on a hand written piece of paper, which is odd for a large place. Avoid if you care for your health. No culinary quality of any sort.

We ordered a lamb shawarma but was told after 20mins were told that there is no lamb available so we agreed to have the chicken. Then after one hour we got our food. The manager needs to be more attentive and hire staff with better communication skills.

Beautiful restaurant with good food and service, staff were very friendly and down to earth and there was good music and good vibes all around . High quality food would definitely recommend for friend groups to go and visit. Personally i’d rate this like 5 stars and i’d recommend everyone to come and try this out for yourselves

Generous portions and nice ambience.

I gave this restaurant a chance twice before reviewing it. they was a great failure, but they deserved the honor of failure. They sell the last day shawarma by heating it on the grill, and they make an excuse that the fresh shawarma front of you is not well done yet. The first time it was 03:00 PM and today it was 05:00 PM and the shawarma was not yet ready.. They continue to lie to sell old shawarma and they do not care if the chicken is spoiled because Leftovers from the previous day. They think the customer is naive and will believe it. I can never trust them. Please be careful and make sure the food is fresh before ordering from this restaurant. sooooo bad 👎🏻

Food was amazing,we really enjoyed the food and shisha.After dinner we received complimentary tea and sweet that closed nicely our evening. Definitely will be return.

OM ALI was excellent...I was recommended this dessert by the staff on a rainy day and I need to say was one off the best dessert ever tried. Highly recommend to visit this place and try the Om Ali.. Will not be disappointed.

Was very pleasantly surprised by the service here. I came with a friend to enjoy the evening. I have visted this place before and was happy with the service, but not wowed. Today I was wowed! Staff went the extra mile to ensure that my visit was the best, and they did not disappoint. Would actively recommend this to family, friends and colleagues alike.

Absolutely ridiculous place to dine in . Ordered food desserts and shisha after we had our meal i asked for bill and the Manager turned up saying cash machine is not working . Bill came 50.50 pence and guy addded 10 percent service charge and i was sat outside having my shisha i went over the road got some cash out and gave him 50 pounds .The manager came running your bill is 55 not 50.50 .I explained i am not willing to pay service charge as by law its not mandatory .He then started to argue over just 4 pounds difference and started shouting and isulting me you have never been to resturant .I tried explaining to him i will pay for food the service done by your waiters is your responsibility to pay .First your conning the government by hiding the tax by only taking card payments and secondly ur coning customers with service charge to pay your staff and then insult customers . Avoid at all times huge scammers . There are many resturants on edgware road with decency and respect for customers .Avoid people like theseand resturants like these till the learn the lesson to be fair with peole and respect everyone .

Being going Shishawi for a few years now, service is often good as the staff are quite genuine and don't put on an act like most places, with nothing but smiles and happiness glaring through there faces. Real down to earth, I must say. Food is good, and I've never experienced any sort of problems with any of the food I've ever gotten here. Prices are quite reasonable for the location given Being Edgware road, dead in Central London. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is the fact that they are cash only, which can be a bit inconvenient at times but an easy resolution, surely? The outside shisha area does tend to get quite busy in the evenings heading well into the night, so if that's what you're going for, then maybe try reserve or just head there a bit earlier if possible, do bare in mind it is an outdoor venue so if it is cold then you can't really expect them to do anything about the weather. I see a few bad reviews about there been a fish tank which is true, but for as long as I can remember that is now gone, toilets been dirty? It's a toilet. This review is edited, avoid going during the day, you'll have a better experience visiting in the evening, but find out why for yourself. FYI: they do take card, they usually escort you to the shop next door to pay by card (only during the evening) During the day however, be prepared for a short work across the street to the Tesco cash machine to withdraw your cash for the bill.

Food tasted awful, service was really bad, toilets were filthy. I won't recommend them to anyone.

The service and the staff were lovely, however it would have been nice if they would have put a it more effort in creating stronger flavours in their food. The cardamom coffee was very weak, and it barely had some cardamom aroma to it. I did read that that coffee is normally very strong, so next time they can perhaps ask people how they prefer to have it. I also had king prawns with rice, and muscles. It wasn't bad but there was not really enough flavour in the rice. The set of sauces that came with it was a nice touch, and I really liked the olive starter as well. Their restaurant interior looks like the Disney Jafar's palace, and the waiters were providing a good service. It's just that they need to improve their spice in my opinion.

Went here after a long time... Decor is exactly as it was 20 years ago, which was shocking. They haven't moved with the times. The food wasn't great, greasy and salty just as it was 20 years ago. Chips tasted like they had been fried in oil that has not been changed for a while. Manager didn't bring out the desert, nor did she provide the mint tea she promised at the end! £6 for small glass of fresh orange juice. Really. Their customer service is just so s**t and insincere. Will not be going back!

We liked the food here, the service was wonderful & very attentive, checking to see if we wanted more & that we were ok. Originally our Zaatar bread was rock hard & burnt, but they took it back & made a fresh one which was really fantastic. Baba Ghanoush was delicious & Mixed Grill meat was cooked perfectly. Fish Kabsa was amazing, a big portion & the fish batter so light with delicious flavour. The Seafood Rice was good too & the fresh juices refreshing on a warm summer night. We ended with Egyptian coffee which was delightful - just the right amount of sweetness. They really care about their customers & it shows, we will be back.

Shisha was average. Asked for a simple double apple and mint. It actually started nice, then a worker who was just hovering around me took the pipe from me and said "I check". At this point I didn't ask for any help or anything. He takes it and takes 5 big hoover puffs of my shisha, looks at me saying "it's nice", takes ANOTHER puff and then hands it back to me. I never asked for "help", nor did I ask for my shisha to be burned and passed back to me. Pointless.

No Shawarma available. Was told it would be replaced with something else. Not sure that a tiny bit of hummus makes up for lamb shawarma. Be sure to have cash as they do not accept any other forms of payment. Food was average. Not very expensive given the location.

Amazing atmosphere to say the least. That time of the night when wind is blowing in full force and you are here with your friends is absolutely a blessing. Went there yesterday and was awestruck by the ambiance and the atmosphere around, Edgware Road at it's best. The food was amazing too but the only thing I didn't like was the Chicken shawarma platter which for some reason I felt the taste was not up to the mark. The hummus, pita bread, hummus with beans, salad, shish kofte and chicken curry were what I and my friends had ordered and everything was amazing apart from the shawarma. A must visit place if you're in London.

Delicious food went there so many time great value for money

This place is nothing short of amazing!! From the stunning authentic Arabian themed decor, to the delicious exquisite food, from the lamb shewarmas to the lamb quezy (lamb shank), to the fresh juices & mint teas- they never disappoint. The shisha is arguably the best in Edgware Road by far. Come with family or with friends- any time, open 24 hours- the service is always impeccable. Thanks to the amazing Amel and Oana in particular who are so loving & hospitable. We love this place & recommend it to everyone!

Absolutely disgusting… first off all, I don’t know what’s up with the reviews because everyone is leaving reviews about the bad toilets, yes they’re not the best. But has anyone seen or had the food, everyone in my family has a bad stomach, I get migraines sometimes and I’ve had a stomachache and headache plus been vomiting since having yesterday evening. We ordered a platter for 4 people (All lamb). Which turned up with rice being sprinkled everywhere and 2 lamb chops, 1 kebab (kofta) 1 Shish (lamb tikka) an the tiniest amount of of lamb shawarma pieces I think there were probably 5-10 pieces of the shawarma 😂 you can imagine putting that in the palm of a babies hand and it still wouldn’t be a handful. So I looked at my parents as okay we have no choice now as we’ve got to eat what we’ve been given. The rice seemed like it was from three weeks ago probably. No wonder why people are leaving reviews of getting food poisoning and we’re all ill, oh and the best part is that they had the audacity to say “CASH ONLY” absolute disrespect, and yes the toilet’s lights don’t work so yes everything is pretty much bad, I agree with those people asking how this place is still legally open.

Favourite spot on Edgware Road. Boneless baby chicken is fantastic and the Lamb shank is another good main. Portions are generous, moussaka with lamb and the Sujuk are good starters.

We sat inside to be warm, they kept the door open so it was freezing .. they refused to close it too .. also the beer was a stupid price!! I won’t return
